Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has said that he would rather resign as the state governor if he fails to protect lives and property in the state. The governor who was addressing local hunters at Oke-Ako over the recent Fulani attack in Ekiti State said, ” The only reason you voted for me is because you know I am competent to do the needful in circumstances like this. Nobody will take Ekiti away from us.”

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have assured that its national convention will hold as scheduled in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Chairman of the National Planning Committee of the Convention and Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike declared that any other convention held aside the one in Port Harcourt is illegal.

Governor Wike, who said the party had sought a stay of execution order against any court order challenging the election, said they also appealed the court orders.

Wike disclosed that the twelve governors on the platform of the party and other leaders of the various constitutionally recognised organs of the party were already in Port Harcourt for the convention.

According to him, “the PDP will not condone indiscipline.

“Assuming though not conceding that there was a court order that there should not be election for the chairmanship position, the man that you said went to court (acting National Chairman of the party) is participating in the election. It tells you he did not file any court process. We will do the election and know the next step to take.

“Since the chairman of the party they said went to court for an order that there should not be election is participating in the election what are we saying.

“Then when a party takes timeous step, that party cant be said to be disobeying court order. We filed a motion
for stay of execution and filed an appeal.”

The southeast caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Army, the Civilian Joint Task Force and the Bring Back Our Girls group for their fortitude and resilience in ensuring the rescue of one of the abducted Chibok school girls, Amina Ali. Speaking in Abuja, Osita Okechukwu, the spokesperson of APC southeast caucus also noted that the rescue of Amina Ali has put former first lady, Patience Jonathan and Governor Ayo Fayose to shame, The Punch reports. According to Okechukwu, both Patience Jonathan and Fayose were among those who doubted the truth of the abduction of the girls. Okechukwu explained that if President Buhari has remained indifferent like his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, the penetration of Sambisa forest would have been impossible. Hashimu Suleiman, the man who trekked from Lagos to Abuja in celebration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in 2015 presidential election has described his action as a big mistake.
Suleiman said he regretted trekking for Buhari who has now made life unbearable for the masses.

The man expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the president has been ruling Nigeria in the last one year.

He was quoted as saying, “Removing fuel subsidy at this hard time is not palatable to hear, when so many workers and labourers can hardly put food on their table, many companies have folded up, and cost of living is very high.
