The Lagos State Government has announced the cancellation of the monthly environmental sanitation usually held on the last Saturday of every month. Lagosians are happy about the decision no doubt; but did you know that some agencies and group of persons are not? Here are five big losers of the decision:

The Nigerian Police
The Nigerian Police; especially the very corrupt ones are among the heavy losers of the government’s decision to cancel the monthly environmental sanitation in the state. It means no more bribe and no more harassment of citizens in the state. For a long time, the police have been taking advantage of the sanitation exercise to extort money from the masses.

KAI Officials
Like the police, KAI officials won’t be able to extort money from Lagosians since restriction of movement will now be a thing of the past.

Local Government Officials
Local Government officials are among the most corrupt people in Nigeria; and good thing is, they will no longer be able to harass Lagosians on every last Saturday of the month.

Boys Who Play Football On The Streets
Certainly, some guys won’t like the decision because it means they won’t be able to take to the streets to play soccer as they always do on Sanitation days.

Workers
I fall into this category because Sanitation days usually afford my wife and I the opportunity to rest a bit after working all through the week. Now, all that has gone up in the air as Ambode has cancelled the monthly Environmental Sanitation.
