How Nigeria can benefit from GridCodes Technology

The Federal Government recently inaugurated the Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee on the adoption of Gridcodes.

GridCodes is a technology for digital addressing invented and globally patented by Squadron Leader Adefola Amoo (rtd).

The inter-ministerial committee was setup in furtherance of a directive given by the Chairman of the Nigerian Digital Addressing Council Vice President Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, to review GridCodes Technology for national adoption by the Federal Government.

The immediate past Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, said during the inauguration that Nigeria could effectively improve governance, boost commerce, fight crime and better manage intelligence through the adoption of GridCodes, a Technology for digital addressing which was designed and founded by a Nigerian.

He said that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s policy to encourage and adopt indigenously built technology as contained in Executive Order No 5 had produced many opportunities for indigenous innovation.

Onu further said that achievement of Digital Addressing through adoption of GridCodes would help Nigeria have a well civilised and orderly society, where the rule of law is better administered. This in the long run would greatly facilitate a long-lasting panacea for peace and unity in the country.

He also said adopting GridCodes for Nigeria would encourage further indigenous exploration of innovation, natural resources and raw materials to attain greatness and also occupy her rightful place among the comity of nations.

Digital addressing technology leverages Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to provide citizens an address that makes it extremely easy to navigate to homes, offices, social gatherings, places of entertainment and trade even if such places have no physical addresses. Such a system is accurate, reliable and error free.

The GridCodes digital addressing technology is delivered to the end user via a mobile app and an associated Website. The mobile app has been in use and available on the Google Play Store and iOS Stores since 2017.

When adopted GridCodes will facilitate revolutionary expansion of many verticals in commerce, regulation and governance.

It will support last mile delivery, logistics, transportation as well as all businesses that revolve around being able to navigate reliably to where people are.

In Governance for example, the challenges around achieving full compliance with the CBN’s KYC policy will be drastically reduced.

This is about the first time in Nigeria’s history that the work of an indigenous inventor is being considered for national adoption.

Without a doubt, this is an opportunity to showcase how President Buhari’s Executive Order No 5 can decisively solve a critical geo-infrastructural problem that has been facing the country for years. GridCodes will solve this problem as quickly as the adoption is declared by the Federal Government and at a fraction of the cost and time it took advanced economies to do the same thing.

This is the kind of near instantaneous, leap-frog solutions that promoting indigenous innovation can achieve.

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has described the loss of five members of the Nwigwe family of Urunnebo, Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government as a painful loss. The governor who was represented by the Head of Service, Prince Harry Uduh stated this today at the burial of the victims including a wife, Francisca; three children: Chisom, Ebubechukwu, Ifechukwu and a house-help already buried at Ihiala her home town.

‎Consoling the bereaved the governor said:

“What can you tell a man that lost his wife and four children? It is a very painful loss. I believe in my heart that there is nothing God cannot do. He will surely give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.”

The governor told the family that the government and Ndi Anambra are standing ‎with them at this moment of grief and assured that the state will render assistance to assuage their immediate needs.

In her Condolence message, the Wife of the governor, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano, told the Mr. Hyacinth Nwigwe the husband who survived the accident, “take heart and be strong in faith because God in His infinite mercy kept you alife for a good purpose.”

The family was involved in a tragic road accident which left the husband, Hyacinth with broken leg on their way from Pilgrimage at Holy Land, Olo, Enugu State on September 16, 2016.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Messrs. Emeka Ozumba and Uche Nworah from Enugwu-Ukwu were part of government delegation.

After reading all statements from you, the complainant Sophia, and her spokesman Dele Momodu, down to the social rants that intruded later on the subject matter, I felt like the DPO of a local police station, settling a case presented from the incidents of your nightmares. Firstly, this is a family case and has no right to attract the public interest.



Secondly, in one page, you ceaselessly pleaded for freedom more than Mandela and in another page reluctantly accepted blames on same ‘izzue’. All your inviting proclaims on social media on the ‘izzue’ invited no one to think, but rather imagined you were idolized, seduced, raped and framed by Sophia, as no comment of yours has yet accepted the affair with her was mutual (as you claim the truth of the ‘izzue’ is yet to be known) – neglecting exposing secret lies of your baby mama’s lifestyle, an inferior to your class. Telling me a lady took advantage of you, at your current age of 21, is a reason to forcefully take the resultant baby, is like stressing how you lost on Nairabet’s virtual game stakes because of incomplete time. On a second thought, I believed in you when you had previous controversial cases involving Wizkid and Mc Galaxy. Regarding your recent song, ‘Izzue’, featuring Dammy Krane, your lyrics weren’t clear enough until now: you wanted no ‘izzue’, but a hide and seek game in which the lady can come to the bedroom and then you ‘izzue’ everything she requests for; right?. This case is no different as it still baffles me how you neglected your own words and that of your family, only to hear mine. Social Services Organizations or Child Care Agencies should have been called upon to address this ‘izzue’. Notwithstanding, this drama that has you as the main character with an online setting, has no direct positive moral lessons for youths or aspiring musicians who tend to follow your lead, but affirmed the fact one must be preyed by the present hardship in Nigeria.
Your first class grade in the university couldn’t guarantee that you’re educated, as you played a vital role in demoralizing Nigerian youths through this unwanted drama. It all reminded me you have to reap what you sowed. Just a word of advice, focus on your work and stop jumping about, except you’re ready to marry – women are valueless distractions to a growing music career. Lastly, I hope you drop your childish characters this year’s end, since you believe a 21 year old can’t take decisions until 23.
