Politics / Soldiers Attacks Protesting Students With Armoured Tanks by oldsage: 4:15pm On Oct 29, 2021
The Nigerian Army reportedly stormed Tai Solarin University with three armoured tanks and two Hilux vehicles after students staged a protest in reaction to the military extortion and brutalization. The action of the Nigerian military generated widespread reactions from the populace, as many wondered why such an artillery would be used on students. Rinu, an activist who was in the limelight during the endSARS protest, equally condemned the actions of the military.

The Nigerian military took armoured tanks to fight Tai Solarin University students protesting against indiscriminate arrests. Only in Nigeria."- Rinu reacted via her verified Twitter page.

In reactions to the tweets, many people agreed with her and saw no reason why the Army would use heavy-grade weapons on harmless protesting students. Pictures of military officers in war-style positions flooded the comment section to further drive home the error on the part of the military.

Engaging in protests is the right of every Nigerian, and the role the army need to play during protest is to prevent the breakdown of law and order by duly arresting anyone who wants to incite violence and vandalism. However, controlling protesting citizens with an armour tank as if in a war zone is a bit out of it. What is your take on the actions of the military. Kindly share your thoughts below.

Politics / Re: Tribalism Our Major Problem In Nigeria. My Experience With A Client by oldsage: 6:23am On Oct 06, 2021
Op is probably a tribalist himself. You just said his kinsman gave you the property to market and that did not speak sense to you. You painted the whole story as if it is a tribe thing, every tribe definitely have the good eggs and the bad ones. Work on your personality.

All care is about restoration of our sovereign state of Biafra,

We'll continue the struggle until this Shithole crumble and everyone answer their papa name..

Lol, I laugh when people talk about secession as if it's a child play or a one day job. Nigeria might not even divide in the next 100 years because the issue of secession in Africa is not just an issue of national interest but of global interest.

Politics / 2023: Why Igbos Are Being Unrealistic About Producing The Next President by oldsage: 7:17pm On Sep 24, 2021
In all fairness, if the next president should come from the south, the Igbos should have it. However, Igbos are not making any efforts towards achieving that. They're all waiting for the presidency to be handed on to them on a platter after being sidelined for too long.

Many are calling for the ruling party to zone the presidency to the south east- we all know this is dead on arrival. Let's look at it from this perspective, if APC zones the ticket to the south east and the the PDP zones the ticket to let's say the north central, do you think the current Igbo politicians we have in the APC will be able to pull the required votes needed to beat a northerner at the polls?

Rather than calling out the ruling party to zone the presidential ticket to the south, Igbos should ensure that the PDP fields an Igbo for the 2023 election. And maybe in the spirit of the much touted southern unity, other regions can canvass for a politician from the south east extraction to contest under the banner of the APC, leaving us with two Igbo contenders in the major political parties just like 1999; Obj and Falae.

This is the only feasible way an Igbo can become a president in 2023. But, can Igbo politicians in the PDP muster enough courage to wrestle power from the Fulanis? the current reality says otherwise. Meanwhile, if the APC would field a southerner In the 2023 election, it would be between the S/W and S/S not because of anything but because none of the two major parties is willing to risk losing the election by giving their tickets to an Igbo politician with no political weight and popularity.

This is just my opinion though.

Over the past few weeks, soldiers have been deployed to some south eastern state due to the alleged killings of military officers attributed to IPOB. Recall that, before the deployment of soldiers to the east, there have been countless attacks on military bases and many gallant officers have lost their lives in the process. In a bid to stem the tides of this attack, Buhari had made it clear that secessionist groups will be treated in the language they understand. A speech he made that led to the ban of Twitter till date... To continue reading clicking this link
