BlaqFaze:Thanks for your response. I think medical courses take up to 7 years; and I don't really have affinity for them. If I want to, I might not do well in JAMB as it'll require me to do Biology. And there's not really much time to study as I'm working to save money.. |
MufasaLion:I have passion for tech related stuffs and I have passion for helping people (like rendering help with or teaching what I know), but I have a feeling that studying education course is not the way..... |
Hello, bosses. I'm willing to write JAMB this year and funnily (or sadly) enough, I don't know what course to study! ![]() ***A bit of my ordeal*** I once did JAMB in 2017, but wasn't admitted into university to study Agricultural Engineering (my father's choice). So, I went to a college of education. I graduated late 2020. Since then, I kind of lost interest in everything and was just depressed and tired. I later sprung back, but my retentiveness and studying ability greatly reduced.... I got into a teaching job, and it has been really helpful in healing (tho, I miss my old self). Now, what I just want is a course of probably 4 years or 5 max; a course that is lucrative and has higher chance of getting someone out of this country (if I'm not being myopic). Kindly try and understand my plight and help me. |
Sequel to this thread I opened earlier, https://www.nairaland.com/6778280/experience-today I just wanna point out a few things. If one is fainthearted, some Nairalanders can make you go into oblivion forever or for a long time. I knew that before penning my experience, and thankfully I'm not a coward one. Sadly, only a few got why I really put that out... Some were even quick to tag me a complete dullard when we've never even encountered...lol ![]() In conclusion, I'm reinstating that "SHIT HAPPENS AT TIMES" and I bet most people don't even know about mental wellbeing.. Last last, u na well-done oo ![]() |
Hahjascho:Thanks very much, sir. You're one of the few that actually got what I was trying to pass across. I'm not a newbie to teaching Physics. But my last place of work really affected me mentally and I'm still healing.... I wish you the best sir |
Earthstorms:Lol. Where I sabi u Me cheated abi you dey copy from me back to back ![]() |
Crucialgem:The bolded is what I could say affected my performance... At my former place of work, I barely had time for my life and it affected me mentally... Even after school hours, I'll still be dealing with school matters.... I just find it funny that most people who commented really think I'm an olodo... Lol I know I'm not... And those close to me know I'm not... All will be well, boss |
illicit:Lol. The most embarrassing moment would be when you realize the mistake ![]() |
Davash222:Lol. I no dey smoke weed and I no even dey like dt b4.... ![]() Shit just happened sha |
With the Physics too, I did quite well, but can you imagine: stupid me forgetting what a potentiometer is used for and I was even confusing the total emf of cells in a series with the total the emf of cells in parallel! I could only think of the reasons for my lapses to myself but not tell to my supervisors to justify myself. At least, I was informed of the topics to prepare for.. Or is it anybody's fault that the last time I opened a Physics textbook or manual was sometimes last year or that I was unable to prepare for the tests.. lol Well, they were really understanding (they did not condemn my mistakes) and still considered me for employment... In summary, even if you're confident about something, there's no harm in double checking. No one is perfect!!... Have you ever been in such a tight situation? Woah. It seems I'm living up to my name , "OlodoGraduate". So, I dropped an application in a school about 2 weeks ago. I got called yesterday to come for interview. I was given a written test. I believe I did good in the test. Then, I was asked to come for a microteaching today. I was given the topics to prepare for - in Mathematics; bearing and in Physics; Electricity. I got home and didn't work towards crosschecking my mastery of these topics as I made my self believe that I would get no glitches in teaching these topics and I also got this crazy headache. I just took drugs and slept all along. Today came, I quickly came up with a lesson note and proceeded to the school.... Since the school is on holiday, the SSS 2 and SSS 3 were together for lessons. I was asked to teach Bearings first. I began quite good and after a while, I was given a question to solve with the students. It was a past WAEC question on calculation in Bearings. I was able to make out the diagram, but then I knew outrightly that something was wrong.. I knew what was wrong but I was unable to rectify it. I was just there in the front, blanking out of options.... Thankfully, I was put through by my supervisors {in fact, I really appreciate them} in a polite way and one of them even asked to students to applaud me. I managed to appeal to the students and explained that "such happens at times". The supervisor also tried to buttress my point by sighting an example of a case where examiners with over 30 years of experience couldn't solve a certain question — probably not to let me feel hopeless. I wanted to hold on to that as a panacea, but then I snapped out of it "shame on me". |
chatinent:Thanks a bunch sir. Do you have any idea of where someone who studies Mathematics (not 'education and mathematics') end up? Can you recommend any professional courses? In addition, I'm a graphics designer; is it enough as a professional course? |
Advice still needed cc; lalasticlala , Fynestboi, Richiez |
Hello bosses, I need advice here please: https://www.nairaland.com/6600975/career-advice-needed |
In addition, I intend 'Mathematics' too (OAU doesn't accept NCE for DE to study Mathematics, tho some others do). I need clarification on these two courses in terms of reliability, job prospect, gaining admission/scholarship scheme and so on. Pardon my naivety and any errors or inarticulation my post reeks of. I'm just curious and want the best for myself. Also, if there are other ways you can advice me to go by, I'll really appreciate... cc; lalasticlala, Fynestboi |
Hello here. I've been an avid follower of this forum for a fact and I really take interest in the Travel section, especially the ones that involve getting out of Nigeria through pursuing of higher level of education. In light of that, I've always wished to study harder and follow the steps of the lucky and blessed ones, but I'm kind of confused about how to achieve that considering the education pattern I'm treading upon... I graduated from a 'new generation' college of education late last year. I studied Math/Physics. I wish to further my education in the university through direct entry, but I'm in a dilemma of deciding rightly in the sense that I don't know the future prospects of the course I have in mind. I intend to study 'Education and Mathematics' (maybe in OAU)... |
