Federal Govt. Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme, Graduate Internship Scheme 2012. Invitation For Expression Of Interest For The Graduate Internship Scheme Of The Community Services, Women And Youth Employment Programme Under The Social Safety Net Component Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) Graduate Internship Recruitment 2012 In line with Mr. President’s promise to mitigate the spate of youth unemployment in the country through the re-investment of the subsidy funds, the Federal Government has initiated the graduate Internship Scheme under the Social Safety net component of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P). The ultimate goal is to reduce unemployment among graduates and stimulate economic growth, as part of priority transformation agenda of the current administrative, while also enhancing opportunities towards the attainment of Vision 2020. The scheme has the objective to create opportunities for unemployed graduates (50,000 unemployed graduates) to be engaged for a period of one (1) year in reputable firms and institutions, to enable them acquire skills and experience and enhance their employability. The scheme would be a form of partnership with firms and institutions in which they get free labour and undertake to groom and mentor the interns to acquire skills on the job experience while government pays stipends to the interns. This will help equip graduates towards meeting the demands of employers in the current labour market. Interns would be deployed to firms and institutions in their areas of residence for convenience. Interns would be deployed according to the relevance of their discipline to the firms. This will not only improve manpower development but will also broaden the applicant’s expertise. And these interns would be under close supervision for the period, to ensure dilligence. Beneficiaries will be paid stipends by the Federal government during the duration of the program. Has anyone who sat for the 2011 Federal Government Local scholarship been paid? The Federal Scholarship Board's website and contacts (email & phone) was inaccessible for about a year or more. No list of winners was publicly released at any point in time and the Director was quoted to have disbursed some funds to scholars. Its more than a year and half gone, and many 2011 candidates (especially from Lagos test centre) have been asking for their awards...we just want to know if anyone was paid or is this one of the many inadequacies that litter our administration in terms of Transparency and Accountability? www.scholarship-nigeria.com www.scholarship-nigeria.com |
Has anyone mailed "pressid@nuc.edu.ng" and got a reply? I doubt there is anyone assigned to checking the 'PRESSID mails'. www.scholarship-nigeria.com |

@PearlAdams: if that was the case, ...VERY unfortunate! www.scholarship-nigeria.com |
www.scholarship-nigeria.com @Abbaeti: its not just Nigerians. All over the world, people search for AND SECURE scholarships through the internet. We are in an e-generation, remember? Of course, just as in any other RACE/COMPETITION, not everyone who applies will be granted the scholarship. I, for one, can testify to many beneficiaries of scholarships (secured through our page; www.scholarship-nigeria.com) and of course, I benefited from quite a number of scholarships myself. **BUT you just have to be very careful of the countless Scholarship SCAMS that litter the Internet.** All the Best in your search; www.scholarship-nigeria.com SCHOLARSHIP NIGERIA (Facebook) @ScholarshipNG (Twitter) |
PRESSID SCHOLARSHIP (Update) www.scholarship-nigeria.com 449 candidates met the criteria for selection for the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development, according to the Executive director, National Universities Commission (NUC), Julius Okojie, on Monday. He made this know in Abuja when he visited Chams centre where the candidates wrote the Presidential Special Scholarship Aptitude Test. Of the 449 candidates who are writing the test this year, only 100 students will be selected from the best of the best. Okojie said the scheme was part of efforts to achieve the goals of Vision 20:2020 and the Transformation Agenda “Federal Government has plans to develop a critical mass of professionals, who will serve as catalysts of change and agents of scientific and technological advancement. “This sustainable economic development will be achieved through the sponsorship of these outstanding students for postgraduate studies in the top 25 universities in the world. “This means that it is only those candidates who are graduates of the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 academic sessions that qualify for this particular selection,” he said Okojie said that the selection was based on graduates who had obtained First Class degrees from recognized and approved universities. He said that this would be in the areas of Sciences, Medicine, Basic Medical Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Special aspects of Biology, Nuclear Physics, Quantitative Genetics, Medical Biochemistry, Aeronautical engineering, among others. According to him, the test would be held annually with 100 students qualifying for the scheme for innovation and development. Once these students finished their courses, they are expected to come back with entrepreneurial skills to work. “They will work for the system as the next generation of academics for five years after which the Federal Government would allow them to be on their own,” Okojie said. He added that opportunity, by way of allotment of 2 per cent of the scholarship seats, would be given to people with disability who hold First Class degrees. Okojie, however, debunked the claims that the criteria used for selection was a deliberate policy to marginalise some candidates from some parts of the country. He said that the scholarship was for only students who applied and were qualified to be shortlisted for the test and stressed that the scholarship was not only for a group of people from particular states. “That is why the membership of the committee of the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme comprises professors who made First Class from the six geopolitical zones so that there is nothing like marginalisation,” he said. www.scholarship-nigeria.com |
