*THE GAS LAWS*

It's important you know the following gas laws for your forthcoming exam which are:

1. Boyle's law
2. Charle's law
3. Gay-lussac law
4. Ideal gas law
5. Dalton's law of partial pressure
6. Graham's law of Diffusion

Let's break things down on these laws:

1. Boyle's law states that the volume of a gas is inversely proportional to the pressure provided temperature remain constant.

Meaning: as the pressure increase the volume decrease or as the pressure decrease the volume increase.

Mathematically Boyle's law is:
P1V1=P2V2

2. Charle's law states that the volume of gas is directly proportional to the temperature provided pressure remain constant.

Meaning: as the temperature increase the volume increase and vice versa.

Mathematically representation of Charle's law is: V1/T1= V2/T2

3. Gay-lussac law states that when gasses react they do so in simple whole number ratio to one another and to the volume of their product provided temperature and pressure remain constant.

Meaning: for example ammonia is form when 3 moles of Hydrogen react with 1 mole of Ammonia that's
N2 + 3H2--------->2NH3

the ratio of the mole we have are simple numbers that's 1,3 and 2 but gases will never react such that the mole will be 50, 70 or 100 rather simple whole number like 1, 2, 3 etc.
