NSEstudent: Maybe it's not. But I'm wondering why it might not be. Usually the differences in sister devices like these are very few.
Are you using the G5FA? I would have had an experience with it but my guy who would have gotten it for himself hesitated and the device finished at the Airtel office here. Now they are back with X17U. I use the Huawei, but I am very conversant with the G5F. I assumed they would be the same . There's no even single info about the GSFA online. |

4litres: So i have been following the thread for awhile now and i have learnt a lot from all of u. I also want to give a small update I just discovered. So i have this m30 mifi that has wan port and i decided to use it in place of the idu so as to reduce the bulk and battery consumption when moving it around. Lo and behold, it worked like a charm and the battery now lasts way over 12hrs since it's only the odu that's now connected to it. So basically, the idu was the main culprit on the power bank since it uses dc power. This also means, if u have any mifi that has a wan port on it, doesn't matter if it's mtn or airtel, it will work. Yes this can work but for the later, the huawei odu consumes app. 24w while the the idu consumes 12w and for the zte the odu's even consumes more. What i did for odu(huawei) was to connect it to the poe powerbank which runs for over 8hrs+ while the idu is powered by my power bank and 12v converter usb which runs for 2days+ . |

nurez305: I don't think so, it only happens 6pm to 11pm since 4days now... Normal Airtel work without issue except ODU sim... I have seen someone complain about issue like this before. Maybe it is my turn to experience it.
Right now it is back fully until tomorrow 6pm again I had a similar issue, it only worked well at night but once it's 8am I only get max 2mbps throughout the day, airtel couldn't provide any fix. I removed the sim from the odu put it in my phone and tried to make calls & sms after that I put it in back and took it to another location with a longer Ethernet cable and since then I get steady 40+ and on some days I randomly get 70+ while downloading files. All these happens on 4g, no 5g in my vicinity but the upload speed doesn't go pass 4mbps. |

nurez305: How did you guy solve the issue of bad network? My internet speed has dropped to less than 1mbps since yesterday night and this is not as a result of using above 1Tb. It came back around 11pm yesterday and I was getting 50mbps and today it went back to below 1mbps. What can be done to resolve this situation?? There might be congestion in your area, try and change the location of the odu or play around with available bands |

olujosh301: Greetings to everyone I was using the odu in Lagos(worked flawlessly) but moved to akure. I get around 30-40 mbps in the morning but from 8am It becomes unusable(not up to 1mbps) and only band 8 & 3 are available here. It's mounted on a pole with clear sight(no obstructions) Update on this All I had to do was get longer ethernet cable and change the location of the odu to another side of the building now I am getting 40+ steady. Airtel try sha because na bush i dey |

And na Huawei ODU be this All networks are bad within the premises but outside it's normal. I just thought that since odu is outdoor it would be better |

michlins: do you understand how difficult it is to do business in Nigeria. Loans are at 30% at least, taxes in Nigeria are multiple, complex and never complete. Government is always changing the rules, you lay fibre today, they realign roads and uproot everything. I know how many times fibre has been laid around my house that ended up being damaged. While being laid, you pay every community for accessing their locality and stuff. So no, it's not easy here Mtn mostly uses their own erected polls for the fibre layout. Government(ncc) can actually regulate all these but they aren't helpful. |

dustmalik: Why should anyone pay 200k for a 1Gbps plan? In Europe, you can get up to 10Gbps for less than 30k in some countries. That's 10x the speed of 1Gbps.
We have been conditioned by these service providers to believe they're doing us a favor or that we don't deserve better. It actually doesn't make any sense and isn't competitive with the likes of starlink, they also have 100k for 300mbps. The target audience isn't the general public. |

Starlord99: Oh okay, that's similar to the available bands at my side. See if you can aggregate multiple bands with B7. It has poor latency on its own. I would try that I randomly tried a speedtest on mtn 5g(on my phone) and I was surprised

Starlord99: You can't switch to only 5G on Huawei ODU. It operates on 5G NSA (Non-Stand Alone) meaning it must be paired with 4G to work.
However, you can attempt to change it by going to 192.168.118.1 on your desktop browser and navigate to Advanced -> System -> System Settings -> Developer Options -> Network Mode.
Among the options you'll see: SA (Stand Alone), NSA (Non Stand Alone) SA+NSA ... ...
SA is 5G only. Default is NSA. If your connection stops working you can go back to Default. Thanks I appreciate |

Ebubemg: I think Huawei odu may be the best, both the odu and idu have all the necessary settings for everything, airtel is very poor in my area but I'm getting this with 5g and it's stable as long as it remains in 5g , but with 4g the speed won't even be up to 1mbps, that's how bad the network is The Yeye installer even did a terrible job, he mount it vertically. Greetings chief I just got the huawei odu and its great so far but I haven't seen an option to switch to only 5g |

Ayomipoe: I swear. They practically have different flyers and marketing materials for Nigeria, slightly inflating their KWh Its not like that Haisic is only doing what the Nigerians that went to the factory request for. Anybody can go to a Chinese brand and request for specifics and that's what would be manufactured. |

Rumplesteelskin: Thanks for the follow up. Yes, I did. After it went off at 20.8v, I disconnected the battery and used an external 20a charger to charge, and I arrived at a different conclusion. The battery recommended charge current is 40a and all my power sources are under 40, 30a mostly. I figured the battery require serious charge current from 26.4v upward and my charging sources can't provide that. From 26.5 to 26.6 takes almost an hour with the 20a charger. With this charger, I would need like 14 hours for a full charge.
My options now are either to upgrade the inverter to one that charges from 40a and above, or get an external charger above 40a. What's your pv array like? What kind of inverter do you have ? I had this similar kind of issue(it would take 10hrs for my battery to move from 13.2v to 14.1v),i discovered that my inverter and solar array couldn't charge my battery effectively until I added another panel and changed my cc. Nothing is wrong with your battery. |
