Guinea-Conakry’s President Conde has pledged to close Islamic schools where teachers and students wear the full veil, or niqab, amid rising fears of Islamic extremism in the country and West African region.

Following terror attacks in neighbouring Mali that killed 19 people, President Conde cited the “fight against terrorism” as reason for the decision, Anadolu Agency reported.

“I will close all Quranic schools where students and teachers wear the full veil,” Conde reportedly told a meeting of his Rally of the Guinean People party.

Recently, Senegal announced it is considering banning the burqa owing to the rising fears of Islamic extremism in the country. The country’s interior minister, Abdoulaye Daouda, said “women would no longer be allowed to wear the Islamic dress, which leaves only the eyes exposed,” The Guardian reported.



Daouda said the decision was a national security consideration to prevent terrorists from using the burqa as a disguise.

If the ban is enforced, Guinea would join Cameroon and Chad, who also banned the burqa this year citing similar security reasons following a spate of suicide attacks carried out by veiled bombers.

FAAN DISPELS RECRUITMENT RUMOUR

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the general public that recent reports of recruitment exercise in the Authority, published in some sections of both the traditional and social media, are false and misleading. They should therefore be disregarded.

The last recruitment exercise in the Authority took place between March and May, 2015 to recruit officers into the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service(ARFFS), Aviation Security(AVSEC) and Information Communication Technology departments which had shortage of professional staff. The exercise was concluded in May, 2015.

At the appropriate time, the Authority will invite successful candidates during that exercise, for mandatory training before deployment to various airports across the country.

We wish to emphasise that no recruitment exercise is taking place in FAAN at the moment. This is moreso because it has come to our notice that fraudulent recruitment agents and questionable recruitment websites are deceiving and in some cases, duping unsuspecting applicants by giving out misleading information about an ongoing recruitment exercise in FAAN.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a popular Abuja socialite who is also a top official of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Dr (Mrs) Imaobong Akon Esu-Nte. The suspect, a Grade Level 14 Officer with the Federal Ministry of Finance seconded to the Nigerian Prison Service as Head, Capital Accounts, was picked up Tuesday May 6 by operatives of the anti graft agency. And for several hours, she was grilled by investigators over allegations bordering on corruption, abuse of office and money laundering.

EFCC officials said they received tip-off regarding the suspect’s lifestyle which was inconsistent with her position as a public servant on a monthly salary of N121, 460 ($751).

The suspect owns several exotic cars and properties scattered over the (Federal Capital Territory) Abuja. Among her properties is a palatial mansion, a duplex with two-bedroom Boys Quarters at Sun City Estate, Abuja and another duplex at Karu Extension, Abuja, which is nearing completion.

Three luxury automobiles were recovered from her at the time of arrest. They include a Mercedes Benz ML 350 4matic wagon, Mercedes Benz GL 500 SUV and a Toyota Sienna.

EFCC sources said Imaobong’s arrest was triggered by intelligence report on suspicious inflow of huge funds into her account with a new generation bank.

Close scrutiny of the account by investigators literally opened a can of worms, as it came to light that the suspect is the promoter and signatory to the accounts of three companies: Abasiaga Global Resources Limited, Abasiono Nigeria Limited and Ememima Global Ventures Limited, the companies were established after she was posted to the Nigerian Prison Service and all the directors are her children (Dr. Etsu Daniel, Eme Faith and Uwen David).

She is also the owner of two other companies- Darima Properties and ID Petroleum
Sources revealed that several cash and cheque deposit into the accounts of these companies and the personal account of Imaobong in Zenith and Access bank could not be justified. The accounts of her companies are said to have recorded an inflow of not less than N200million between 2009 and now.

Another startling discovery by investigators for which the suspect has failed to provide an explanation, is the nearly N60million she paid in various branches into the account of Redeem Christian Church of God, a prominent pentecostal church in Karu, a suburb of Abuja. ‘There are instances in which she paid N5m, N7m and N6m into the church’s account. Obviously this cannot be tithe an EFCC investigator told SaharaReporters.

She must explain the source of the funds and the purpose for which the payments were made”, one of the investigators who pleaded not to be named because he was not authorized to speak on the matter said.

Equally shocking, is the discovery of five names that consistently (on monthly basis) paid money into the private accounts of Imaobong at Zenith and Access bank since she arrived at the Nigerian Prisons Service as Head, Capital Accounts.

At press time, the socialite was still facing interrogators, unable to explain her sudden wealth. Sources informed SaharaReporters that she told her interrogators that she made her money doing contracts, contrary to provisions of the public service rule that forbids a serving officer to establish companies or prospect for contracts.

Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren while confirming the arrest warned public officers engaged in corrupt practices to desist or risk the wrath of the law. He said the agency was determined to ensure that officers who abuse their positions for self enrichment are brought to book.

He equally pleaded with the members of the public to stop celebrating corruption by asking questions when it is obvious that the lifestyle of certain persons can not be supported by their known sources of income.

(FAAN) yesterday disclosed it has received the federal government permission to boost it workforce with additional 720 staff.

The agency said the new intake will be mostly deploy in critical areas around the airside of the the airports runways in order to boost safety around the facilities across Nigeria.

FAAN Managing Director Mr. Saleh Dunoma said as a result of increase in threat to airports and flight operations, the airports management authority is putting appropriate measures and equipment in place to forestall any threat to aircraft operating in and out of the airports.

Dunoma spoke yesterday at the opening ceremony of three days workshop to mark the Murtala Muhammed Airport 2015 Safety Week where he explained that faan places premium on safety and said urged participants to plan ahead to avoid accident.

Guest Speaker and FAAN Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Henry Omeogu, who also represented the MD said the safety week is to provide awareness to stakeholders and travellers on the need to observe safety culture at the airport environment.

Omeogu frown at the indiscriminate posting of untrained personnel by the airport authority and airlines to the airside as these personnel are nothing but hazards that may cause serious and regrettable accidents.

He charge the staff to carry out periodic and daily inspections and audit of movement areas and directed all Airport Managers to urgently set up local runway safety teams to prevent incident of incursion and excursions on the runway.

With the theme ‘ Airside Safety, the Very Essence of Aviation’, various speakers harp on the need for constant interface among stakeholders to promote safety around the airside.

Lerina García, a 41 year old, well educated professional opened her eyes one morning to discover she was in what she later assumed to be an alternate universe existence of her own life.

Hello, my name is Luz, I have 41 years and I think I jumped into a parallel universe.

I find it hard to tell because everyone will think I’m a psychotic, and no one will believe me. Please, if anyone has had a similar experience to write me an email.

One day I woke up and everything was different, nothing spectacular, nothing to do with time travel and all that stuff, I just got up in the same year and the same day I went to bed but many things were different. It’s little things, but important enough to know that at one point there was a turning point in which things are different. In fact, if this is a dream you are all in a dream, as I write this there, so if someone replies is that you are living the same reality as me, be my dream or not.

4 months ago I woke up a normal morning, I was in my rental house where he lived for 7 years, everything was the same except that the set of sheets on my bed that was different, did not give importance at the moment. Well, my office was in my car which was parked where ever, and was the same office where I worked in the last 20 years. But when I got to my office was not my office, has the names on the door and mine was not. I thought I had the wrong floor, but no, it was mine. I got to my office wireless area and I looked, was still working there but was in another department reporting to a director who did not even know, I went to the office to mark the directory, I said I was sick and left. I went to a psychiatrist and attribute it to stress, believed to be hallucinations, but I know not. Here’s a similar story from Japan. A man flies into the country with what appears to be a valid passport only to find that nobody has heard of his country of origin.

A curious incident took place in Tokyo, Japan during the early 1990s: a man arrived on a flight with a passport from a non-existent country.

The man expressed anger and shock when Japanese customs officials detained him. Although the officials checked their records carefully, the passport had been issued by a country that did not exist. No record showed the country had ever existed.

Although passports exist issued by non-existent countries (known as camouflage passports), this passport was real and had custom officials’ stamps on various pages including stamps by Japanese customs officials from previous visits.

The man was well-traveled, caucasian, said the country was in Europe and had existed for almost 1,000 years. He carried legal currency from several European countries, an international drivers license and spoke several languages.

Finally, indignant, he demanded a meeting with higher government authorities. He was convinced some massive practical joke was being played on him.

After being detained for almost 14 hours in a small security room at the airport terminal, some government officials took pity on him and transported him to a hotel. They ordered the mystery visitor to wait there until they decided what to do about the matter. From the reports, the Japanese were just as confused and flustered as the mysterious man without a country.

Although two immigration officials were posted with instructions not to permit the man to leave his room, the next morning the guards discovered he was gone. The only exit was the door they watched and the only window had no outside ledge and was 15 stories above a busy downtown street.

The authorities launched an intensive manhunt throughout Tokyo for the mysterious traveler, but finally gave up the hunt.

The man was never seen again.

And finally a tale of vanishing where a man is seen walking to and entering his automobile at a busy University parking lot then disappearing into thin air.



Inexplicata relates a story that is like Lerina’s, except from the opposite point of view.

The original account was written by journalist Segundo Peña and published in one of Venezuela’s biggest newspapers, El Tiempo.

Peña relates a strange tale that smacks heavily of a multiverse shift. The incident occurred on the campus of ULA (the University of the Andes) and involved a well-known faculty member.

This is what happened in full daylight, according to dozens of witnesses: the professor left one of the university’s buildings, crossed a parking lot to his parked car, and entered it. Many saw him as he walked to his car, some even called out to him and waved.

The professor opened his car door, climbed in, sat down, and closed the door. The car sat there unmoving. Eventually, a few curious students went to the car and found it empty.

There are many accounts of alleged time travelers throughout history, one of the most recent is the story of John Titor that began on November 2, 2000 when a person claiming to be from the year 2036 burst upon the Interweb scene with his amazing tale of time travel. He took the strange news followers by storm and his story is still being debated over 10 years later.

So, what are we to think? Are these stories just fodder for the gullible? Mere tripe from tabloidian minds? Or is there something more going on?

In 1954 the term Parallel Universe was thrust into the mainstream by Hugh Everett III. Everett theorizedthat many related universes all exist in parallel, branching off of each other. Each universe has a similar origin but alternate time lines.

This is heavy stuff to even get into but we need to have an open mind in cases such as this. There are so many questions that arise, to many to list in fact. However, I suppose we should start somewhere and I think it best to begin with the reader.

I would be very interested in the opinions formed by those who have pondered parallel universes, rips in the fabric of time and space, or any other related subject matter. Does our reality overlap a similar one just outside our realm of detection?

Is there anyone out there who can relate to one of the three stories above or have had a corresponding experience?

We all know how powerful the mind is and how dreams can manipulate reality. We also realize that there are those who suffer from mental illness but if we could suspend all of that and really consider the possibilities, where do we go next?
