fatboyslym007:I agree with you 100%, the state is one of our major problem, i am not a party member to any political parties, i support anyone who does good irrespective of party, religion, ethnic group or whatsoever the affiliation maybe, our state government need to step up if truly they love the people they are representing, no one of them has come out to accuse Tinubu so far for not giving them what they deserve aside the state police we are not ripe to have, but in all honesty, he has given them, moral and financial support to scale through the present storm we are all facing, it is this same state governors that are holding back the money that belong to Local Government and making them underperform(Local Government Autonomy is highly needed, so that the LGA chairmen can be held accountable for whatever fund they recieve) to the best of my knowledge, the present federal government is trying, though i am not saying they are not corrupt ooo, but no section of the government has accused them wrongly aside the vulnerable man on the street that can't see the front. |
fatboyslym007:undoubtedly, the state must always interfere when their is market failure and negative shock in the economy, to see to the welfare of the low income earner and those that are vulnerable to the negative shock. The truth is state intervention is crucial in every economy, even the so-called America that is telling us to remove subsidy is heavily subsidizing their Agricultural sector. the fact is there on the internet. I believe Nigeria will be great in our time. |
fatboyslym007:Even if state do same thing, we will still get same result, the agricultural sector should be made attractive to private investors by reducing the level of insurgency in the country( which this government cannot achieve, because of the cabals handling the issue. Truthfully they are more powerful than the government because they are the ones the government will want to us to tame the sector and a thief will not arrest himself/herself for whatever he has stolen), if insurgency is not stopped, there is no number of policy that we can do in this country that will reduce food inflation and the general inflation. On this note, I will say that Nigeria can only be better and develop by mistake( this is a sad truth, but anyone actively in government and in-charge-of policy know this) |
SouthSouth1914:I love the way you start your statement, the immediate subsidy removal subsidy is good but not the best in the long run, government of any economy subsidizing any sector of the economy should always have a long term plan of reducing the price of the product been subsidized. Nigeria as a case study should invest heavily in the petroleum sector by building refinery or engage investors to build refineries that will reduce the price of Petroleum Motor Spirit PMS in a more competitive way and reduce the burden of dollar demand. Dangote will as a matter of being a leader in the industry fix price if no good competitor surface. Tinubu government should have resume office, take a careful study of what the Subsidy scam is, so as to approach it's removal in a more better way, but the immediate removal create more problem than the good intention of his government. Power sector should be well invested in and policy that will make the electricity sector more attractive should be put in place as against the present subsidy being paid by government in the transmitting line of the power sector, power is the engine of industrialization in any part of the world. We as a member of the country (not just the government) should work on being trustworthy, so that investors will have confidence to invest heavily especially in the energy sector as a whole to reduce our demand for petroleum by-product outside the country with dollar. |
blueAgent:You have spoken well from your perspective and the first paragraph already identify who you are, the post was never in support of government, party, tribe or any affiliation, it is a pure economic observation that you should have asked for more knowledge about, but you choose to be blind to the economic reality happening to the Nigeria economy or perhaps have almost no knowledge about how the macro-economic of Nigeria runs, but i will advice that you don't just tag people "propagandist" always learn before you type. |
Anyone that understands how the economy works will know that constant palliative and increased minimum wage is a bad way to help the economy -especially one like Nigeria's(in the long-run). Albeit that doesn't mean it's not useful in the short-run. To begin, palliative is meant to ease the effect of a negative shock in the economy temporarily as government forge a long term plan to ease the shock or pressure on the people, but when has palliative ever been equitably distributed -those who need it the most are the least to get. We may even consider the additional fact that constant government interference leads to lazy masses -there's a popular adage that goes do not give me fish but instead teach me how to catch fish, a better approach would be if instead government employed more people through capital projects. Secondly, Increasing minimum wage has an inflationary effect, the increased minimum wage is mostly by the government and some big organizations, an increased in minimum wage without a corresponding value brings about inflation. The market men/women in a bid to get their own share will increased market prices, if you still have children in school, the school administrator will increased the school fees of your children in order to meet up with increased salary demand and other logistics demand prices that have risen, if you are still a tenant, your landlord will increase the house rent to also get his own share of the increased minimum wage and it goes on like that like that, at the end of the day minimum wage will even make you worse off than making you better off. |
What some of you failed to remember is that all this politician you are standing for are of the same caucus when it comes to embezzlement and being power mongers, just that people celebrate you when you scale through or on the upper hand, I still preferred him to the present rubber stamp and brainwashed senate president and the present house who are spoiling our democracy in the name of loyalty, some of you don't understand politics that's why you will always blame saraki, am not his fan but he made buhari understand that go cannot always be go and come cannot always be come we need to sit over it for dialogue. |
