what is good about this there is no plan to increase our mega watt all they are interested in is how to modernise the payment and billing structure. from the looks of it they are only interested in making money not making or generating electricity

can they pay you to use electricity in Nigeria? Have you gotten to that level? Why can't we face reality and accept help when we see one?

God bless you sir. I was looking for where the company will build a new power generating station, only to see stuff like metering, substation and the rest.
With no increase in power generation capacity, the Nigerian power distribution can never satisfactorily serve the citizens

My solution is simple, look for home grown solutions and seek external support in areas we are weak. India has similar attributes and believe you me more cost effective than any thing Europe, as the German support comes at a huge price.

There are Nigerians who understand our problems more than these foreigners but would not be allowed to get involved for selfish reasons.
They say the national grid cannot carry more than 5GW and the Discos in Eko, Ibadan and Ikeja are the heaviest.
Section or unbundle the heavy part of the grid in the West and supply with gen stations nearby. That will give stability and reliability to the transmission line.

Just as we need to restructure a lot of our system, we need to sectionalize our power system as it is unwieldy.

We must improve off grid supplies by reducing extensive transmission lines from generation to load centres.

Then I asked you to identify the issues and how to address the issues and you came back with the same thing.

See, you were juts bullshitting, you are not an electrical engineer, you are not a power generation, transmission and management expert, you've never conducted any audit about our power system to identify the issues and how to fix the issue and when asked to come up with your own ideas, you typed meaningless and unrelated issues, you came up with what we already know about our generation and transmission issues and what the Siemens agreement is set to address.

Many of you don't know anything, but you jump into topics to criticism the government, read headlines and jump on the bandwagon when then they ask you to come up with your own idea since you think you know more about the experts, you end up coming up with rubbish and layman submissions.

I just don't know why many of you think criticizing and ridiculing everything for likes on NL make you sound smart when in fact it's the opposite.

Phase 1 is focusing on essential and quick-win measures to increase the system`s end-to-end operational capacity to 7,000 MW.

Phase 2 is targeting remaining network bottleneck`s to enable full use of existing generation and distribution capacities, bringing the systems operational capacity to 11,000 MW.

Phase 3 is developing the system up to 25,000 MW in the long-term. This includes upgrades and expansions in both generation, transmission and distribution.

https://press.siemens.com/global/en/pressrelease/siemens-and-nigerian-government-signed-implementation-agreement-electrification

The agreement called for 25,000 MW that includes both generation, transmission and distribution, but sadly for our lazy Nigerian youths, they either don't know how to read and comprehend or just only read headlines and do follow follow like this 2, one couldn't read and comprehend and the other one quoted him like mumu because he himself couldn't read and comprehend.

Very sad.

I don't really understand this that much, but I hope this will include upgrading our transmission infrastructures to be able to withstand rain storms and other natural disturbances that trips off power in Nigeria, if this is not part of them, then the deal or agreement is as good as useless

You raised a pertinent issue on the transmission infrastructure which is key, Siemens scope is not to cover power lines at all levels 330kV, 132kV, 33kV or 11kV to withstand weather effects which is our biggest problem, but would install substations (Transformers and associated switching units ) in container form that presupposes a non permanent installation and my biggest grouse is the high tech grid automation using advance Siemens telecoms and software making necessary huge training component.

The road map is too favorable to Siemens and not tailored to addressing our monstrous power problems.
Why our government did not submit the road map to stakeholders in the power sector to study it and make contributions still beats my imagination.

God bless our darling Daddy President Muhammadu Buhari and his AMIABLE Vice President PROF YEMI OSINBAJO as they are doing all to make our once battered country work again.

May God punish everyone that looted our country and took Nigeria 100 years during the period we made our highest revenue as a nation.

May they all never end well wherever they may be.
And if you are here supporting or taking money from any corrupt politicians, becareful, so you won't end up like them.

it is people like you is the reason why Nigeria will never move forward. When you hear corrupt activities of apc, you will never condemn them or criticize them but when you hear about audio projects that all of us know that it ends on paper. You start hauling out mouth
Re: President Buhari Directs Kick-Off of PPI; Approves Funding by NGpatriot: 12:03am On May 29, 2020
The deal with Siemens includes three phases. In the first phase, stranded power generation of about 2 GW would be moved onto the grid, to push generation to about 7 GW. Phase two includes a grid expansion to enable at least 11 GW of transmission and distribution. The third phase would include new power stations and continued grid expansion to reach the 25-GW goal.

At least two new generating facilities already are being developed. Tas Anvaripour, CEO of Neo Themis, a Moroccan company, recently confirmed that his group has an agreement with Nigeria’s Kingline Development to build a $600 million natural gas-fired power plant in Ondo state. The deal for a 550-MW combined cycle plant includes plans for a new substation, desalination facility, and other infrastructure at an industrial park northeast of Lagos. The power plant is expected to be fully operational in 2022. The state-run Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company has committed to a 20-year take-or-pay contract to buy electricity from the new plant.

Nigerian officials in early August announced an agreement with Greenville LNG, an Abuja-based energy company, to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) for a 215-MW gas-fired plant in Kaduna state. The new plant is expected to be operational within the next few months. Greenville’s managing director, Ritu Sahajwalla, said the company will transport LNG in trucks, because there are no pipelines to supply the plant, although pipelines are expected to be built in the future.
