According to this recent rankings by Global Firepower Ranking (GFP)- an index that measures the military strength of a country and gives an objective rating with which it can be compared to other countries. The countries with the most power militaries in Africa are below: 1. Egypt: Egypt comes out on top of all African armies on the basis of the sheer size of its armed force. While they are well-trained and equipped, they are still inferior to Israeli soldiers in the same parameters. More than 1.5 million Egyptians attain army age yearly, and according to the GFP, the army has more than 800 military craft and 200 helicopters. 2. Algeria: The Algerian military comprises of a modern army, navy and airforce. Frontline manpower is 120,000 active personnel, well equipeped and with about 2,000 ready-to-go armoured fighting vehicles. Since Algeria has its own oil reserves, it gives it the extra advantage of being able to power all its military vehicles. 3. Ethiopia: Their position here is attributed to their large population and their long independence from colonization. Being landlocked, the country has spent most of its resources building an impressive army and airforce. Of the 38 million people in the country, 24 million citizens are said to be fit and service-ready. According to a ThisDay report, "Ethiopia reportedly had around 182,500 personnel in their ground forces and a further 3,000 air force personnel. 4. South Africa: Apart from its thriving economy, this country can also boast of being the fourth strongest military base in Africa, which it uses majorly for international cooperation. Though the country has less than 88,000 active front-line personnel and 17,000 active reserve personnel, the naval vessels and aircraft are up- to date technologically and the country has the capacity and manpower for much more. 5. Nigeria This country has the second largest military population in Africa. Political instability and insufficient equipment has however made it to rank fifth in the GFP. "The country has more than 1,400 armoured vehicles, 360 tanks, and 6,000 logistical vehicles at its disposal, as well as nearly 300 aircraft and 25 high-powered naval vessels," says ThisDay. "The army has been criticised for their heavy- handed manner in dealing with civilians during anti-Boko Haram operations in the North-east. The previous year, Nigeria occupied the 4th place." read the full list here http://cruzloaded.com/2014/11/top-five-strongest-militaries-in-africa-see-nigerias-position/

There is a huge amount of advice available on how to write the perfect CV. Much of this information is conflicting and can be confusing. However, some aspects of CV writing will never change and we have compiled the top ten tips for writing a comprehensive, interview winning CV. Prepare - spend quality time evaluating the skills and qualifications that the job advert is asking for and ensure you match them. If not there is really no need to apply as you are more than likely to be unsuccessful. In certain circumstances it is much more effective to send out 10 directed CVs rather than 1000 general CVs. Content - prior to making a start on the CV, make a detailed list of the skills and unique experiences you have had in your career history , personal life, education etc. Try and ensure you list dates of achievements and ideally figures / examples of excellence. What information to include - there is certain information that must be included (you would be amazed by the amount of CVs we read at CVpal that do not have contact telephone numbers etc on them!). Include your name, address, telephone numbers (mobile and home), email address (ensure it isn't a strange address i.e. think how the employer will envisage you if your email is smellypants@). Additional Information to include - some good information to include in the CV could be voluntary work completed, charity fund raising, language skills, sport achievements and interests. Design - this is a vital part of the CV; you can have the most fabulously content rich CV however if it looks dull or messy it will ruin the impact. Your CV has around 2 minutes to achieve an interview for you before the employer loses interest. Therefore grab their attention, think of ways to section the CV into clear areas, for example Personal Profile, Skills and Expertise, Education and Qualifications, Career History and Interests / Other Information. Try various options and do look at including colour, however only for titles Advice -once you have put together your first format of your new CV it is vital to get someone else to read it to check for spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and to ensure it emphasises your skills and personality Market the CV correctly - once you are happy with the format and wording of your CV you need to ensure that you market it in the places employers will see it. Register on the top 10 online job sites, scan local press and finally a great way to gain interviews is to hand deliver the CV to companies that you have identified as employers you would like to work for. Make changes - you should always make changes to your CV dependent on the jobs you are applying for. It should be a "working document." It is worth having a CV that can be generic for placing on job sites but do look at making changes to emphasis skills that have been highlighted as essential in job specifications and adverts. Ask for feedback - if you have sent your CV to lots of jobs and not heard anything back from the potential employers or you have not received any interviews there is nothing wrong with telephoning the employer and asking (politely) why you weren't successful. Ask a professional - sometimes we all have to realise that our skills and expertise could be in differing areas. Therefore asking a professional to write your CV for you could be one of the most cost effective and time effective things you could do. Ensure if you choose this method that you are happy with the service and trust the writer. for more help visit www.cruzloaded.com |

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo , the current holder of the Ballon d'Or award, and four-time winner and Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi are among Fifa's 23-man shortlist for this year's honour. There was, however, no place among the nominees for Luis Suarez, Europe's joint top goalscorer last season. The list, which was compiled by Fifa's Football Committee and France Football, will be cut down to three finalists in January. Ronaldo is hot favourite to complete a hat-trick, having clinched the award last year and back in 2008. All of the 23 players named, however, ply their trade in Europe, for eight different clubs. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich both have six players, while Barca have four. There are five representatives from the Premier League, with Chelsea boasting three: Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, who has been included for the third straight year. Suarez, despite scoring 31 Premier League goals last season for Liverpool before making a big summer move to Barcelona, has been overlooked completely. The Uruguayan made his return from a four- month ban for biting an opponent at the World Cup in the weekend's El Clasico. And there is a clause in the voting regulations for the Ballon d'or which references "overall behaviour", with Suarez's deemed to warrant his absence. See the full list: Ballon d'Or shortlist: Gareth Bale (Wales), Karim Benzema (France), Diego Costa (Spain), Thibaut Courtois (Belgium), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Angel Di Maria (Argentina), Mario Goetze (Germany), Eden Hazard (Belgium), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden), Andres Iniesta (Spain), Toni Kroos (Germany), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Javier Mascherano (Argentina), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Thomas Mueller (Germany), Manuel Neuer (Germany), Neymar (Brazil), Paul Pogba (France), Sergio Ramos (Spain), Arjen Robben (Netherlands), James Rodriguez (Colombia), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany), Yaya Toure (Cote d'Ivoire). Coach of the year shortlist: Carlo Ancelotti (Italy/Real Madrid CF), Antonio Conte (Italy/ Juventus FC/Italy national team), Pep Guardiola (Spain/FC Bayern Munich), Juergen Klinsmann (Germany/ USA national team), Joachim Loew (Germany/Germany national team), Jose Mourinho (Portugal/Chelsea FC), Manuel Pellegrini (Chile/Manchester City FC), Alejandro Sabella (Argentina/Argentina national team), Diego Simeone (Argentina/Atletico Madrid), Louis van Gaal (Netherlands/Netherlands national team/Manchester United FC). www.cruzloaded.com |
