South-South will vote
massively for Buhari - APC
boasts
By: Syndicated Report | on Saturday, March
14, 2015 | 245 views
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari
(rtd.), has been told not to bother about the
South-South as the region will vote
massively for him and all the other
candidates of the party in the forthcoming
general elections. Rivers APC gave the
assurance in a statement in which it
congratulated Buhari on his successful
South-South Rally held in the Rivers State
capital, Port Harcourt, on Thursday.
“There is nothing to compare between
General Buhari and President Goodluck
Jonathan when it comes to caring for the
welfare of the people of the South-South.
While President Jonathan has confessed that
he deliberately refused to develop Rivers
State and the entire of South-South, General
Buhari built one of the refineries in South-
South and constructed the only road that
links Bayelsa with Rivers State.
This shows that if he is given another
opportunity, he will develop the South-South
more than President Jonathan, who has
refused to develop the region and therefore
does not deserve the people’s vote. The
people of the South-South will indeed vote
massively for General Buhari and other APC
candidates for the various elections on
March 28 and April 11,” Rivers APC Chairman,
Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said in the
statement.
He commended General Buhari for
promising to fight corruption frontally upon
assuming office as Nigeria’s next president.
“The party agrees with Buhari that if we
don’t fight corruption, corruption will kill us
as a nation. We are privileged to have Buhari
as our presidential candidate; he is the
bullet we have to fight corruption and by
29th, March, 2015 when General Buhari
would have being announced as the
President elect of Nigeria, corruption will be
reduced by 80 percent,” Ikanya stated.
The Rivers APC Chairman dismissed
President Jonathan as an unmitigated
failure, saying: “His clueless administration
has run our economy aground. Our naira is
so devalued and the economy in such
shambles that allowing Jonathan to stay in
office a day longer will spell doomed for our
beleaguered country.”
Ikanya noted that under the watch of
President Jonathan, the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) has continued to bomb, maim,
kill and destroy anything that is APC.
According to him, “Over 40 of our members
have been killed. Our secretariats are
bombed and destroyed. Our lives are on the
line just because of election. Dame Judith
Amaechi, the wife of the Governor of Rivers
State and Director General of the APC
Campaign Organisation, was attacked few
days ago while campaigning, by the PDP
hoodlums. Chidi Adi Amaechi, the younger
brother of Governor Amaechi, a student of
Igbinedion University, Okada in Edo State,
was attacked brutally and his life is on the
line just because of election.
Our campaign Directors, Ade Sam Wobo and
Emmanuel Chinda, were all attacked and only
escaped death by the grace of God. Is that
the type of leadership that we want for
South-South and Nigeria as a whole? PDP
hates our region and we will surely punish
them with our votes and with the
eradication of cloned cards through the use
of Smart Card Reader by INEC, PDP will surely
be buried come March, 28th, 2015 to save
our nation from the hands of vicious and
clueless leadership.”
In another development, in an interactive
town hall session with the non indigenes in
Rivers State, General Buhari was assured
that with the threat by Chief Wike to send us
out from Rivers State and close down our
business outfits and stop all the good
things, Gov Amaechi has done to us, voting
for PDP in the South-South means voting
and preparing our coffins for our burial as a
group.
This is the time to thank and appreciate
Governor Amaechi for indentifying with our
aspirations and well-being by appointing
one of us, Barr. Chuma Chinye into the State
Executive Council as the Commissioner of
Commerce and Industries, Ade Adeogun as
the Executive Chairman of Rivers State
Environmental Sanitation Authority, David
Iyofor as the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to
the Governor, Chief Eze C Eze and our other
members into some sensitive positions in
the State. Offering of scholarships to our
children and ensuring that our children pay
the same fees with indigenes in all the
schools in the State.
It will be act of wickedness if we fail to vote
for APC and with Dr Dakuku Peterside who
have assured us that he will improve on
most of the things Governor Amaechi has
done for us as our flag-bearer, beating PDP
with a visionless leader like Chief Wike is not
a big task to us; the non-indigenes assured
General Buhari and Governor Amaechi.www.freshangleng.com/mobile/news/1955-south_south_will_vote_massively_for_buhari___apc_boasts
PoliticsAPC Accuses PDP Of Plot To Sabotage Card Readers by omasco92(op): 10:21am On Mar 17, 2015
FROM the streets and the court rooms, the battle against the Card Reader is set to move into another realm – technology. The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) insists the Card Reader will make the March 28 and April 11 elections credible as it will, among others, fasten and smoothen accreditation. But the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rejects the machine, saying little is known about its workings. Amid the arguments, the All Progressives Congress (APC), which supports the use of the Card Reader, is accusing the President Goodluck Jonathan administration and the PDP of planning to jam the machine on voting day. For the job, said the APC, an Israeli has been hired. He, according to the party, has developed three prototype Card Reader jammers (25 metres, 50 metres and 100 metres range) to be carried in the pockets of trusted PDP chiefs on election day to disable Card Readers. It is all to justify the PDP’s fears about the Card Reader, the APC said. ‘’We can authoritatively inform Nigerians that the morbid fear of card readers by the Jonathan Administration and the PDP has now been translated into concrete action: They have hired an Israeli to do the
dirty job of jamming the card readers,’’ the party said in a statement
issued yesterday in Lagos by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai
Mohammed. ‘’To those who might accuse us of crying wolf, they should realise that
every alarm we have raised in the past has been true, including that the
Jonathan Administration was pushing for the postponement of the elections and that they are mortally afraid of the use of PVCs and
card readers.” APC said besides disabling the card readers, the jammers will also disable
all telephones, iPads, etc within the states radius of those carrying them
on their persons. It said an order had been placed for 75,000 pieces of the jammers at $
200 per piece, bringing the total cost to $15 million. The jammers will be
air freighted to Nigeria next week, said the APC. ‘’The plan is to deploy the card jammers to the areas deemed to be the
strongholds of the APC, such as the North-west, Northeast, North-central
and the South-west. ‘’It is the planned procurement of the jammers that has given the
confidence to the Administration and party officials to continuously
boast that Buhari will never rule Nigeria, and also the reason why a
chieftain of the PDP boasted last week that the card readers won’t work,
thus advising INEC to make alternative arrangements,’’ the APC said. The party said the Israeli, who has agreed to do the dirty job for a
desperate Jonathan Administration and the PDP, is an enemy of Nigeria
and Nigerians, who does not mind if the nation burns, as long as he has
collected his pay. It said because the opposition party has become a movement which is
being propelled by the people themselves, it is difficult, if not
impossible, for the Jonathan sdministration and the PDP to succeed in their devilish intentions of rigging, sabotaging or scuttling the elections. ‘’We have consistently said power resides in the people, irrespective of
what the government of the day might think. When the people are
determined to vote out any government, no amount of money, evil
plots and shenanigans can save that government, as the Jonathan
Administration will find out in two weeks,’’ APC said. The PDP denied it all as “false alarms aimed at throwing the polity into
chaos and wreck the electoral process”. A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa
Metuh also accused the opposition of engaging in a “dangerous mind
game”. The PDP accused APC of “using wild allegations in a bid to cause panic,
balkanise the nation and create the way for a reign of anarchy in the
country”. The statement went on: “For the APC, it has become a matter of ‘if we
can’t have it, then let’s destroy it’. In the last couple of weeks, this
opposition party and its leaders have engaged in dishing out dangerous
false alarms in a bid to discredit the electoral process, heighten tension,
create fear in the minds of the people and push the polity to the brinks. The PDP described as false alarm the reported plot to kill the leader of
the opposition, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, presidential standard bearer,
General Muhammadu Buhari. “Also, on the same March 15, the APC, in a yet another statement, falsely
claimed that the Federal Government paid N9 billion to ethnic militias to
foment trouble, before, during and after the general elections. This was
immediately followed by a release on Monday, March 16, in which the
opposition, in their unrelenting effort to further discredit the process,
alleged that the Federal Government has hired an Israeli expert, Gyora Berger, to sabotage card readers on election day. “In the same vein, on March 4, 2015, the APC released a false alarm,
claiming that there were plots by the Federal Government to frame its
leaders and … sensitive INEC officials and manipulate the electoral
process. This is in addition to another statement on March 9 in which it
alleged plots to harass its financiers and cripple its operations ahead of
elections. “We are aware that the APC has lined up many of such false allegations
and nuisance alarms, which would be methodologically released to the
public to swell the tension as the elections draw nearer.” The PDP charged its members to remain focused on the campaigns and
not to allow themselves to be distracted, saying the party enjoys the
support and confidence of majority of Nigerians. The party said it was committed to issue driven campaigns, adding that
it would leverage on the “enviable records” of achievements of the
standard bearer, President Goodluck Jonathan, “for which Nigerians are
determined to give him a deserving second chance”.

14 Nigerian journalists abducted
and beaten in river ambush Gang hold reporters for six hours
before rescue More blogposts Topics Journalist safety Nigeria Africa Press freedom Human rights Newspapers Roy Greenslade Wednesday 19 November 2014
06.02 EST Fourteen Nigerian journalists
were abducted in a speedboat
ambush by a gang of youths and
beaten in what appears to be
part of the rivalry between two
communities - the Ijaw and Itsekiri peoples - on the Niger
Delta. The journalists were returning
by boat from an Itsekiri press
conference about a $16bn gas
project in the Warri area of the
delta when the gang came
alongside and boarded them. Several journalists were beaten
when they refused to hand over
cameras and recording
equipment. The Ijaw gang then
demobilised the boat and
ransacked the belongings of the journalists and six other people
aboard, who included Kiki, an
Itsekiri youth leader. All were forced into other boats
and taken hostage to what
appeared to be the gang’s
hideaway. The journalists were
held for six hours, during which
the boat driver and one of the journalists, Emma Arubi, senior
correspondent of the Daily
Independent, were badly
beaten. According to a report by one of
the abducted journalists, Emma
Amaize, one of the gang “took
delight in flogging those lying
on the ground, including an
Itsekiri chief.” They accused the journalists of promoting the
Itsekiri agenda. After the authorities were
contacted, navy officials rescued
the hostages.
