Eddie Murphy: Dead or Alive? Another Adam Sandler, Aretha Franklin Hoax?
December 29, 2010 01:00 PM EST

An Eddie Murphy is dead rumor is surging on Twitter today in the wake of rumors that Adam Sandler and Aretha Franklin had died. Currently, the death of the Shrek comedian is rumored to be a hoax in the absence of credible evidence. However, it underscores the nature of the web in creating fiction from a lack of facts.

The rumors about comedian Eddie Murphy being dead started about noon today on Twitter. As one can imagine, the word that the voice of Donkey from Shrek had died, is quite shocking considering the iconic status Murphy has garnered over the years.

The story surrounding the rumored death of Eddie Murphy is based on a ski accident in which the Beverly Hills Cop star was involved in. Reportedly, he was killed (instantly) in a snowboard accident in Zermatt, Switzerland while on vacation with family and friends.

Based on the source of the information surrounding the death of the comic, the story is being spread for entertainment purposes only, compliments of Fakeawish.com. On this website, a user can input a random name of a celebrity and create a generated fake story to be used for mere fun. However, it is important to point out that many fans who learn of stories such as this are driven towards deep depression, and even self-harm. What is meant to be for entertainment purposes only is really a bad way to generate an income.

By all accounts, Eddie Murphy is not dead, but is alive and well, based on the source and history of the site promoting the rumor.

Do you think websites that support rumors regarding the death of a human being should be censored?

xterra2, all the military websites I have looked at clearly state that South Africa followed by Libya are in the top 40 strongest armies. Nigeria doesn't even make the list for some reason.
Politics / Re: The United states Will Not Intervene! by Omenani(m): 10:22pm On Dec 29, 2010
The United States will intervene if their oil supplies are impacted. We all know the Carter Doctrine will come into affect. Why do you think AFRICOM was created? It was created to secure the natural resources found in Africa. The Niger Delta is critical to the United States strategic interest.

"We don’t know what will happen, what will be the reaction of the white and Christian Europeans faced with this influx of starving and ignorant Africans," Col Gaddafi said in Rome, August 30, 2010.

No African should ever believe an Arab. The Arab slave trade was worse than the European slave trade, but no one talks about it. It was much more extensive, and it had a huge impact on the East Africa region. And it still exist today. Go to Mauritania and you will see slavery alive and well. Even in Sudan as well.
Politics / Re: Libya's Gaddafi Proposes 1 Million-strong African Army by Omenani(m): 8:57pm On Dec 15, 2010
Gaddafi is no African leader. He is an Arab leader, who believes in Pan-Arabism. The man said he wanted Arabs to move to Africa, since there is plenty of space on the continent. This man does not have Africa's best interest at heart. And any African who believes his words are a fool.

Stem Cell Transplant Cures HIV In 'Berlin Patient'

On the heels of World AIDS Day comes a stunning medical breakthrough: Doctors believe an HIV-positive man who underwent a stem cell transplant has been cured as a result of the procedure.

Timothy Ray Brown, also known as the "Berlin Patient," received the transplant in 2007 as part of a lengthy treatment course for leukemia. His doctors recently published a report in the journal Blood affirming that the results of extensive testing "strongly suggest that cure of HIV infection has been achieved."

Brown's case paves a path for constructing a permanent cure for HIV through genetically-engineered stem cells.

Last week, Time named another AIDS-related discovery to its list of the Top 10 Medical Breakthroughs of 2010. Recent studies show that healthy individuals who take antiretrovirals, medicine commonly prescribed for treating HIV, can reduce their risk of contracting the disease by up to 73 percent.

While these developments by no means prove a cure for the virus has been found, they can certainly provide hope for the more than 33 million people living with HIV worldwide. Alongside such findings, global efforts to combat the epidemic have accelerated as of late, with new initiatives emerging in the Philippines and South Africa this week.

Nigeria has so much potential, yet it is wasted by the type of leadership we have in this nation. We need a socialist running Nigeria. There was a time, in which we had such thinkers, like Dr. Michael Okpara who believed in "Pragmatic Socialism."

I too disagree with you, the US cannot confiscate someone's property for a domestic civil suit such as divorce. The court may award the property to one of spouses.
If he is abusive to her, she needs to document it, go to shelter, 911 calls, treated by medical doctors for psychological, call child services, etc.
I am sure she was served with court papers to vacate but still went to the house, pls. note, that I am not condoning what the man did.

I am discussing child support, if they were his children who were kicked out of the house. The Courts will go after his assets or they may throw him in jail if he doesn't provide for his children an income. Yes, she was served with court papers, because the Montgomery County police would not have arrived at the scene to escort her off the premises.

@Omenani
I understand what you are saying regarding the judicial process and I condemn both of them for what appear to be illgotten gains.  My contention is that the man is using the judicial system well to will his way over her and unless, she goes to court to seek redress through a divorce, she may be out of luck.  Public display of sorrow and sympathy wont do it.

The house is in a corporation name, this is time for discoveries of assets etc and then she can go for half of his assets unless there is a prenup or something. I don't think the US can confiscate his assets for domestic issues, unlike terrorism, corruption, drugs and money laundry

I disagree with you. Judges are more sympathetic to distraught women, than men. She will win, since he had her and their children kicked out of the house in the cold. And I am pretty sure he was abusive to her, so the House of Ruth will come to her aid as well. The U.S. can confiscate any asset that the man has in the U.S. That includes funds in his back account. Or he could risk going to jail, for being a deadbeat father.

This was a court ordered eviction, did you guys not noticed the Montgomery County Police standing outside the house? You just don't do that just because you are a powerful Nigerian, she must have been served with papers

Of course the court ordered the eviction. However, the man has a fight on his hands. Anyone who knows the judicial system in America, knows that the man will lose in the end. He may have won this battle, but the man wont win the war. If they are his children, he better move all his money out of U.S. banks, because they will freeze those funds. That is what people are trying to tell you. I know from experience, because some of my family members went through such a process.
