~Bluetooth:The struggle did not go well, because British did not want to see their prize experiment to split up. That is the simple fact. There has already been some government documents that have been released concerning Biafra. It was no secret, that the U.S. or the British did not know what would happen to the vast oil fields of the Niger Delta if the Igbo gained independence. That is why they stuck with the Northern controlled Nigerian government. Not out of love, but out of fear of what Ojukwu would do if he got his hands on the oil wealth. |
I am sure you don't understand. A person tries to post on these threads freely and then you try to associate him with another person. What kind of sense does that make? Let Ezeuche speak for himself, and allow me to write freely. I have no time to entertain such foolish shananigans and the tribal games that many of you play on Nairaland. It is not my cup of tea to say the least. I am here on Nairaland to discuss serious topics. Not to battle you people. |
No, I am comfortable being an American citizen and I wouldn't change it for the world. |
~Bluetooth:They will most likely call him a Marxist, because of his beard at the time. And they will probably say how educated he is, so it will not be in the U.S. best interest to work with him. The fear of him selling oil to the highest bidder. He would be harder to control than some people from the north who can hardly read or write. |
alj harem:? ![]() I really do not know this ezeuche character though. . . But reading some of his post, I disagree with many of his stances on MANY issues. So do not insult me. I am my own person. |
~Bluetooth:I doubt it will be Ojukwu who will have to worry. Maybe Gowon, and most definitely Adekunle. Let us not forget Murtala Mohammed who should be prosecuted posthumously. |
udezue:You already know brother. But lets keep that as a secret. How is H-town treating you? |
"When told that the US was underepresented diplomatically, economically, commercially and militarily in the South-South and South-East, he admitted that Washington must return to Enugu, and Port Harcourt." I am shocked! Even the U.S. recognizes that the East is very important. Anyone who denies this is a fool. Eastern Nigeria may be the most important region not only in Nigeria, but the continent as a whole! |
Beaf:Beaf you do have a point brother. This may further our cause though for the Niger Delta struggle. Everything is coming to light and it seems like the crap is about to hit the fan. More to come. Nigeria is being shown for what it is. An oppressive state that uses its coercive powers to subjugate the good people of the Niger Delta. |
~Bluetooth:After reading some of the cables pertaining to Jonathan. GEJ seems to be politically naive or he is not smart at all. |
I am starting to hold this view as well. I want to see the cables dating back to the Nigerian Civil War! Lets see the truth from the U.S. perspective. These cables are invigorating and scary at the same time. |
Beaf:Nothing good can come out of PDP. I hope you have realized this most important fact. |
And the sad part about this is that he actually paid the $5 million dollars back. The judge was harsh to give him 3 years in jail even after he paid his debt. I think it is, because he was black. They did the same thing to Michael Vick. |
Aondoakaa should be thrown in prison, or at most executed for treason. This man is as corrupt as they come. |
My problem with this news is how they just fired aged workers. Hopefully they gave them severance pay. So just because you are getting old, that means you cannot work? In the U.S, people are working till they are 75. And employers are still hiring these older workers. If you have the experience or expertise, then it shouldn't matter how old you are. |
Using Nigerians as human guinea pigs. How deplorable can this situation be? No wonder many Northerners do not want their children vaccinated for Polio. They have been used a human test dummies. |
This is a nice picture. OBJ looks smooth and Jimmy Carter actually looks tough. Tough picture! |
Dez, Simply stating facts my "country" brother. lol Nigeria is the wealthiest nation in Africa, yet its people are poor. That is the irony of the situation. |
Nigeria is the richest country in West Africa. We have one of the largest GDP in the entire continent, second only to South Africa. Soon, Nigeria will be the largest economy in all of Africa. How can anyone say Ghana is wealthier than Nigeria? Nigeria has the population and larger oil reserves. Making it a wealthy country and a leader amongst the emerging markets in all of Africa. The only reason Ghana is getting noticed is, because of their good governances, not their economy. People need to stop mixing up the two. Economies are different from the political arena. |
I hope it is clear to people, but Nigeria should never have been created. As other African nations are progressing, we are retrogressing. Pathetic to say the least. |
These cables are very entertaining. I enjoy reading these cables pertaining to politics in Nigeria. These U.S. diplomats are very thorough in their descriptions. |
This is welcomed new. We as Africans need to support indigenous companies. This is the problem with many Africans. If it is not made by foreigners, then it must not be good. How many products made in Nigeria, and in the East in general are ridiculed as "Aba made." |
Andre Uweh:But the man gave up a life of luxury and power and went back to seclusion and teaching. His son Mohammed Bello actually forged the Sokoto Caliphate. Many aspects about this man's life is just amazing! |
Kobojunkie:India is ranked 84 out of 180 countries surveyed in Transparency International’s 2009 Corruption Perceptions Index. Their electoral system depends on “black money” obtained though tax evasion and other means. In addition, politicians and civil servants are regularly caught accepting bribes or engaging in other corrupt behavior, even though a great deal of the corruption in India goes unpunished. Vote buying is also a major problem in India. However, I will concede the fact that India does have free elections. No, one is making excuses, I am just saying you shouldn't expect much, because we already knew about this corruption. Nothing happened then, and nothing will happen now even though everything is out in the open. It will be the regular business as usual. Nigerian people have nothing to blame but ourselves. |
Kobojunkie:Really? Is India your example? India may be the world's largest democracy, but it is not very advanced and it still has a lot of problems. Just ask the Sikh of the Punjab Region. You do realize that your argument is null and void. Try again. . . |
Nothing good can come out of this Senate. Nigerians should not hold their breath. |
Kobojunkie:I am trying to be realistic. Name one country, whose democracy is flourishing after 50 years of independence? Give me an example of one democracy that did not have to spend as long as the United States. Do not mention Europe, because democracy took hundreds of years to arise in many of these countries. In England, it took almost 800 years, when the English Nobles forced King John to sign the Magna Carta. This is not an excuse, simply saying that Nigeria, like many African nations are going through growing pains. Remember that democracy is foreign to many African cultures, who do not have a history of democracy. Only a few African groups like the Igbo practiced a form of democracy. 50 years and you are expecting magic? I dey laugh. Africa has a long way to go, before they see the development and types of democracy found in industrialized nations. |
There is no denying that Usher has Igbo roots. lol ![]() Igbo blood is running through many African Americans, because the British got most of their slaves from the Bight of Biafra. |
Nigerians and Africans in general need to realize that it is going to take many years for Africa to get a liberal democracy. As the saying goes, "Rome was not built in a day." Do people think that Europe and the United States did not go through some growing pains. It would be naive to think that the U.S., as advanced as its democracy is did not have any problems. 200 years of slavery, coupled with Jim Crow segregation that ended during the 1960s, shows that the U.S. Democracy is still quite new. Nigeria's democracy is quite young, so lets stop kidding ourselves into believing that there will be a quick fix. |
Aloy+Emeka:I share your sentiment. Sometimes, we Africans can be our own worse enemies. |
Beaf You have to respect the man, even if you do not agree with him. But no one can deny the fact that he is the most passionate poster when it deals with issues concerning the Niger Delta and Federalism in Nigeria. |
I definitely want to read the cables pertaining to the Nigerian Civil War. I can just imagine what they were saying about Ojukwu. Probably said he was a closet Marxist, because of his beard. Or that it would be better to work with the illiterate North, because Ojukwu on the other hand, would sell the oil to the highest bidder. |
And they will probably say how educated he is, so it will not be in the U.S. best interest to work with him. The fear of him selling oil to the highest bidder. He would be harder to control than some people from the north who can hardly read or write.

No wonder many Northerners do not want their children vaccinated for Polio. They have been used a human test dummies.
