gidgiddy: The fact that the January 1966 coup is the only coup being discussed today out of 8 coups that happened in Nigeria, because Igbos were involved, should be a great indicator to all Igbos that Nigeria is not their future country
Babangida wrote a book that spanned a period of four decades, and several important events. But the only discussion for most people is one particular day, January 15th 1966
To my fellow Igbos, if this does not show that you don't belong to Nigeria, nothing will It’s the only one that led to civil war So that’s why it stands out Be fair in your analysis |

Softmirror: The 1966 coup is like saying 2022/23 Obidient movement is not an Igbo movement simply because there are a pockets of other tribes in the movement.
You can imagine how it all turned out, for example Lagos which Obi came first. The chest beating of Igbos in mockery of even the Yorubas who stood side by side to vote Peter Obi.
Which ever perspective anyone may want to look at it. The 1966 coup was an Igbo coup. The only reason why Igbos don't want to associate themselves with the 1966 coup is because of how it ended up as an humiliation. I get your point, I’m just looking at the big big bigger picture of things… We Dey suffer for Africa oo, and it will take an evolved generation with evolved minds to focus on building a united Africa to take their glory in the world.. See Germany for instance, same people that started world war, the most destructive war mankind has ever seen. Yet nobody call it a German war… the only person oyinbo now blame is Hitler… rather than say Germans, they will say Hitler and nazis… Same with Japan, Japan and US are allies and enjoying development |

OfoIgbo: Unfortunately for you Babangida's opinion on this issue carries way more weight than yours.
All the major actors from Ademoyega to Awolowo how himself, have all confirmed that the major beneficiary of f that coul was Awolowo, thus making it a Yoruba coup. CASE CLOSED This thread is not for unintelligent people like yourself… I don’t regret and will never regret being a pain to daft people of your caliber. Yours is to come and insult my tribe and think you go scott free, lai lai… For people like you, it’s about counting scores and never learn… and for beerpalour champions of your caliber, it will forever remain an Igbo coup… Anyway, I know some intelligent ones will understand my point… And again, nothing concern me with IBB book, it’s just my personal reflection. IBB remains a liar, maradona! |
Politics › Igbo Coup: My Perspective by Omoawoke(op): 9:37pm On Feb 25, 2025 |
At some point, we may just need to leave the past and live in the present and consider the future. The best thing about the past is a source of reference to learn from. And that’s what the civil war should be, something to learn from.
If we are to really move on for progress, it may be time to stop shifting blames… Let’s remember, first we are humans, we are Africans and we really need to unite as a people in order to move forward and be in position to shake the world.
When slave masters and evil colonizers claim, they didn’t care, they invaded all lands from east to west to north and with one agenda…
Yet the most evil people in history who committed the most inhumane thing against humanity, through slavery, colonization and genocide and even spread diseases. They have moved one and forgiven themselves
No one is still blaming Germany for starting world war… now Germany, uk, France, USA are best of allies now Japan and US are allies today… And when it was time to colonize Africa , they all sat down and united to invade our lands….(we are still suffering the pain today.)
And come to think of it, no one wants to be the villain of their own world, continually calling the civil war an “igbo coup” won’t make anything better other than worsen things… The people who fought the war, all the people involved both children and old will be no more in few years time… most are even gone already
The first step to forgiveness and progress may just to let it go….
But but but but!!!! In the name of letting go, it will only happen if the igbos themselves let go… it won’t be a time to start looking for a new way to shift blames… it will lead to more resistance and clap backs |

gofigurena: Fine. I indulged you and rephrased the prompt. I got this answer:
Counterfeit food, drinks, and drugs are a widespread problem in Nigeria, and no single tribe can be definitively labeled as the most notorious. However, if we look at historical trends and law enforcement crackdowns, certain areas and business networks have been linked to the production and distribution of fake goods.
The Igbo tribe, known for their strong entrepreneurial spirit and dominance in trade, has often been associated with counterfeit products, including fake drugs and substandard goods. Cities like Onitsha and Aba—major commercial hubs in the Southeast—have been flagged multiple times by NAFDAC and other agencies for housing illegal factories producing fake pharmaceuticals, beverages, and food products. That said, this is more about business practices in unregulated environments rather than a cultural trait of the Igbo people themselves.
At the same time, counterfeit trade is not limited to the Southeast. Lagos (predominantly Yoruba), Kano (Hausa-Fulani), and other commercial centers also have significant markets for fake goods. The demand for cheap alternatives, weak regulatory enforcement, and corruption all contribute to the problem.
So, while the Igbo-dominated commercial hubs have been frequently implicated, it's not about ethnicity—it's about opportunistic business practices in poorly regulated markets. The real issue is systemic, not tribal. Your ChatGPT is still nice… I’ve customized mine to be brutal with no filter… I use my ChatGPT for more other things and it has been trained not to be filtered and censor words If you don’t know, ChatGPT can even write erotic stories lol, it will even tell you how to make a girl squirt, but if you put the prompt ordinarily, it won’t answer you… Anyway, the point is to call out this evil people killing others for profit… don’t let’s say because it’s one tribe because na all of us go suffer am las las… |

DatNiggaDaz:

In a bid to disregard the book written by IBB, Lagos Ibadan expressway Media house has been up & down devising to make the book come as lies & propaganda.
Why do these creatures accept all other lies & propaganda of other book writers against our illustrious neigbours from the East but refused to accept the " lies & propaganda" against them
Why do these creatures use the lies, deceit & propaganda against our dear neighbours for their fallen demon interests but refuse to accept the "lies & "propaganda" when it is used against against their own interest.
They want to be the only creatures who should tell lies & revise history to demonise other ethnic group but dont want to be demonized as the Architektur of lies & purveyors of demonization
The hypocrisy of these creatures is what has kept the geographical expression Nigeria the backwardness she has attained But is the book not full of lies… I grew up to hear of Maradona, the evil genius… The most corrupt and vile leader Nigeria ever had, in the person of IBB.. Na you are here celebrating him because you think he’s on your side… You think he gives a Bleep about you, he’s just using your weak emotions… how long will you igbos be continued to be manipulated and played easily. Now you have found a friend in IBB, the legendary founder of corruption in Nigeria |
