so sorry. I just saw the part where you said you needed to document it. Please forgive my over sabi. I don't know of it causing any mental instability.

@Blessedtwins, doxycycline is an antibiotic in the same class with tetracycline. It doesn't cause any mental instability that I know of but could cause abdominal discomforts, nausea and vomiting. although some researches have proven that it is phototoxic, I.e could cause some reactions in the presence of light. It should be used only on prescription. used in treating some severe cases of acne, in some vaginal infections, in some cases of UTI and in combination with some other drugs in the treatment of some forms of malaria. I hope this helps. And if you are having symptoms you are not sure of,please see your doctor. Please don't do self medication.

Family / Re: Bank Account For Kids by omoerelu1: 8:07pm On Jan 06, 2016
I opened sterling for my baby. I do not pay attention to the interest( I initially wanted a no interest account but they don't have for minors). She got a trolley backpack. the child also gets invited to special events based on whatever criteria they set. I also heard that two years ago, they took the kids shopping at shoprite (I think), and they did that ' shop as fast as you can' thing.
But they have an excellent customer care service especially my branch. It is really a one customer bank. I do not work with them, just an impressed customer.

What do they have in common? Educate me.
they are all perfumed to some extent. angel and dry luv have something like powder in them. I don't know how to describe it. I am not trying to discourage you . my daughter also reacts badly to pampers. so you can give it a trial. my conclusion then was that they were all made from the same company but given different names. I might be wrong though.

guess I wasn't lucky with the angels, molfix and dry love. my baby was using huggies jejely, that was how I decided to get something more affordable. She reacted so badly to all the names I mentioned above. In fact, I still have a pack of dry love at home after giving out some. I realised that the pattern of reaction was the same. did a little research and found out that they all seem to have something common to them. since then, we have been on huggies without issues. so my advice to those that want to try them is to start with something small, and if your baby doesn't react, then get in large quantities.

TX so much
please don't use oraxin for your baby. It contains cyproheptadine which is not good for babies. try vitamin b.co or wellkid syrup. but please don't use oraxin or any cyproheptadine containing drug except it is prescribed by a paediatrician. for more information, Google side effects of cyproheptadine in babies.

Lol. Na Benin u dey too? D rain no b small. I came down wit malaria, d doc prescribed coartem saying its safe during breastfeeding, but I've refused to take it since I read d leaflet. Looking for safer option
madam, coartem is safe while breastfeeding and even in some stages of pregnanc. you can use it. abi you want mosquito to transfer it to your baby. Please use it. forget about the long write up in the leaflet. your doctor knows that it is safe and that was why he prescribed it .It is not as if you are self medicating.

hello pls,can any mother help to say the name of d drug dat dry breast milk completely

you do not need the drug. it has more harm than good. like someone mentioned earlier, it is a hormonal drug. even when such drugs are prescribed to patients needing them, such patients are usually monitored.

@op it is no big deal. All you have to do is JAMB regularisation. Just get to the admission office in your school. And if they can't help, proceed to the nearest JAMB office.

I totally agree with kaffy4bill. Your baby is fine. Don't get worried over his weight. Just feed him well and make sure he is fine. Feeding on demand is ok. And not all children grow at the same rate. My daughter was 2.8kg at birth and was also around that 4.5kg at 3 months. But now, she is a very big baby . she was exclusively breastfed though. And please don't give any teething formula to your baby. Keep your environment clean and keep his feeding things clean.if he's running temperature, give paracetamol and if it continues, take him to the hospital. My baby now has 6 teeth with 2 others coming out and I never used any teething whatever.

@practikal , continue breastfeeding. You can stop few months to delivery and continue afterwards. It doesn't harm the babies. The word kwashorkor was derived from an African phenomenon where the first child is not properly breastfed due to the mother being pregnant for a second child.

@ Debbie, Sebamed or Aveeno. Used both for my baby. I don't think it is the product you are using. Your baby is just naturally dark skinned. Aveeno is recommended by paediatricians. And she might just be having skin issues or reacting to something. My baby's skin too was like that initially but every thing evened out later. It also depends on skin type. I know mothers that use shea butter and coconut oil for their babies and they have fair, smooth and radiant skins. When I tried that for my baby, she became darker but her skin was smoother and radiant.
And before I forget, I was told by several people not to use Johnson's products even before I gave birth. Reason being that they have so many fake and imitated products in the market. That is if you are buying in Nigeria. And I also heard a myth that Nigerian babies react to Johnson's products.

@firstimer, I experienced what you described above with my baby. she sweats a lot too. she had that nose block thing. I wasnt really worried because she was doing well. so during one of our hospital visit,I mentioned it to doctor and he prescribed a nasal decongestant and vitamin C. nasal decongestants are not meant to be used for long or else a rebound effect would occur. so after some days I stopped using it. The improvement wasn't much. I continued with the vit. c and stopped too after my mother insisted I stopped forcing drugs into my daughter's mouth so she used shea butter to rub the top of her nose and also after every diaper change. and that was how her breathing became normal.
for the sweating. abeg, reduce the duration of a.c and fan ( personally I feel the fan is worse) . my mother in law will say better rashes than chest infection. you can always deal with the rash but dealing with respiratory issues is worse. my daughter still has the rash often too but I can cope with that. I rarely put on fan. I only put it on on hot nights when there is no power supply. but most times a.c. you can also leave the door open for fresh air to come in but get an air purifier from one of these big pharmacies.

@Zikamax, my daughter was also weighing 2.8kg at birth. I was worried too. but breastfeeding did the magic for me o. she is now very big and chubby. I cant even carry her for long without complaining. so my dear,if u can, breastfeed him and you will see the difference.

I just saw this thread and saw a need to correct some things.
@o.p,you are doing a great job informing people about their health. nice job so far. but my problem is with the prescription of some drugs. anti tuberculi shouldn't be prescribed online. the patient needs to be properly examined and counselled. and also the prescription of some POM . and also the issue with the prednisolone. Nigerians love to abuse drugs as long as it works for them. so please be careful with whatever drug you are asking them to use or better still tell them to visit the hospital for proper examination.
and@the doctors, haba, we are not fighting. true, she did some things wrong, but there are better ways of correcting people. we are colleagues and not enemies. correcting her that way will make you look like bad people to the ordinary man benefiting from her advice, meanwhile you are only trying to help. abeg, our aim is to all work together to move nigeria's health care system to the next level.

@op, i really do not mean to be rude but i think u are asking the wrong question. The right question should be 'who wants to swap wit my sister?'. Then u will get very good answers. U think 130k per month is small abi? Many ppl earn far less than that.
