PoliticsOndo: Akeredolu's Return Unsettles Deputy Governor's Camp by OndoEyes(op): 7:00am On Sep 11, 2023
The return of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu from his three-month medical vacation in Germany has stirred both jubilation and panic in Ondo State.

While most residents, including civil servants, market women, religious institutions, and others, celebrate the Governor’s return, strong indications suggest that the Deputy Governor’s camp was caught off guard by this development.

Deluge of congratulatory messages have poured in from various quarters, welcoming the Governor back.

The Minister of Interior, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Ondo State House of Assembly, the APC in the state, several party leaders, labour leaders, and other prominent individuals have expressed their joy over the Governor’s safe return.

Since his return on Thursday, Governor Akeredolu has held several meetings, signed the local council development areas bill into law, and attended to official business.

An insider in the government, who prefers to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the matter, confided in our correspondent that the Deputy Governor and his camp were taken aback by the Governor’s full recovery.

According to the source, “The Deputy Governor attended the meetings held on Friday in Ibadan. When the Governor walked in on his own two legs, the Deputy Governor appeared astonished.

“He seemed lost and preoccupied to the extent that, during the national anthem, he kept staring at the Governor in surprise.

“A few days before the Governor’s return, Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor, had conversations with some people. During their conversations, when the people inquired about the Governor’s return plans, Aiyedatiwa questioned whether the Governor would be flown into the country on a medical plane.”

“The Deputy Governor’s camp is now in total panic. Several commissioners and special advisers with him are attempting to switch sides, but it seems too late for them.

“We weren’t part of his camp, although we didn’t join the few who resisted Aiyedatiwa. In fact, our names were rumored to be on the list of those to be sacked if the Governor couldn’t return, and Aiyedatiwa took over. Fortunately, the Governor’s safe return vindicates us.

“Surprisingly, the Deputy Governor even told one of the commissioners from Ondo South that the Governor would never return. This is the same assurance he gave to members of his camp.

“As it stands now, we don’t know what will happen next, but judging by the Governor’s demeanor, he seems inclined to let everyone complete the remaining tenure.”

Another reliable source in Abuja expressed concern about Aiyedatiwa’s disloyalty, alleging that the Deputy Governor had challenged the nomination of Otito Atikase as the state representative on the NDDC board.

“The Deputy Governor called one of our leaders and questioned him about Otito’s emergence, even though he was already aware that the Governor nominated Atikase. His disloyalty is unprecedented.”

Meanwhile, a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Progressives Conscience Coalition (PCC), has cautioned the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa against planting stories against the Governor.

The group also accused the deputy governor of being behind the fake stories about his own impeachment. It added that the move was to gain undue sympathy after his alleged treacherous conducts.

The group, in a statement signed by its coordinator, Yemi Akinbobola, claimed that negative stories about the Governor and the government originated from the Deputy Governor’s camp.

“It has come to our attention that the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, continues to sponsor fabricated, concocted, and spurious stories about the Governor.

“Faceless and paid groups have been mobilized by the Deputy Governor to engage in a smear campaign against the Governor.

“Our investigations reveal that damaging stories about the Governor’s health originated from the Deputy Governor’s camp.

“We have it on good authority that the Commissioner for commerce and industry, Akin Sowore, working with one of the appointees of the Governor, Biyi Poroye, are the ones executing orchestrated attacks for the deputy governor against Akeredolu.

“As a group that cherishes and respects Governor Akeredolu as one of the outspoken leaders of the Yoruba Nation, we will not stand by and allow this perfidy to go unexposed.

“We have information on the arrangements made with individuals by the Deputy Governor to write spurious and damaging reports about the Governor.

“We urge the public to disregard any negative narratives about the Governor, as they are part of a planned effort to tarnish his image.”

PoliticsOndo: Akeredolu’s Planned Return Sets Acting Gov In Panic Mode by OndoEyes(op): 10:13am On Aug 23, 2023
After over two months of travelling abroad to seek medical treatment, Ondo Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is set to return home soon.

This development, according to information available to Daily Independent, has provoked palpable sense of fear and anxiety among certain members of the Ondo State Executive Council.

Reliable sources revealed that the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been meeting with some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an attempt to seek forgiveness from Governor Akeredolu over his actions.

While the governor was receiving medical care in Germany, Aiyedatiwa was reportedly involved in plotting to coerce the governor into resigning on health grounds.

A source within the Executive Council explained that Aiyedatiwa and his supporters have been restless since the emergence of pictures and videos online showing the governor in the process of recovery.

According to the source, the acting governor and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Gbenga Ale, had assured certain members of the Executive Council that the governor would not be returning.

Some members of the Executive Council who aligned themselves with Aiyedatiwa were reportedly convinced that the governor either would not return alive or would resign, thereby allowing the deputy governor to assume the position of governor.

It was also revealed that these members of the Executive Council had been promised various positions and juicy ministries.

The Chief of Staff, Ale, was promised the position of Secretary to the State Government, while Commissioner Rasaq Obe was promised the position of deputy governor to Aiyedatiwa. Obe hails from Ifedore in the Ondo Central Senatorial District

The deputy governor and his caucus have reportedly been thrown into utter confusion following the release of pictures and videos of the recovering governor by the Governor’s Wife, Betty Akeredolu, and the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi.

Reliable sources indicated that Aiyedatiwa has met with former National Secretary of the APC, Iyiola Omisore, former Southwest Chairman of the party, Chief Pius Akinyelure, and former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi. These meetings were reportedly held separately in Abuja.

The deputy governor is said to be visiting these APC leaders in an attempt to gain their favor and secure their support in persuading the governor to overlook his actions.

An Abuja source stated, “Aiyedatiwa is playing a dangerous game. He wants leaders to plead with his boss to forgive his treacherous actions, but at the same time, he is still playing games. He has been dishonest with virtually everyone here in Abuja. He is very strategic in his moves, especially when it concerns his boss. He has been scheming and constantly moving from one place to another, all in the name of politics.”

Another reliable source in Akure, who requested anonymity due to her position in government, revealed, “I was accused of being loyal to Aiyedatiwa. It is true that the deputy governor made some moves. He invited me and others to several meetings and shared information that cannot be disclosed at this time.

“I believe he received false information suggesting that the governor would not return. I know this because he was overly confident about that fact. He was already envisioning himself as the waiting governor.”

“Aiyedatiwa told us that the governor could no longer move his hands. He mentioned some files he took to Ibadan that were signed and returned to him. According to him, the governor did not sign those files himself. He concluded that the governor would not be coming back.

“As it stands, apart from meeting with both APC and opposition leaders in Abuja, the acting governor is also reaching out to certain members of the House of Assembly. Right now, he is in a state of panic.

“The impact of the false information he received regarding the governor’s health has caused a lot of trouble.”

“Not only him, even the Chief of Staff, who believed the governor would not make it, is now running around. The Chief of Staff, Ale, completely disregarded the governor, to the point where he took over the responsibilities of the Deputy Chief of Staff in the office of the deputy governor.

Meanwhile, a group called “Ondo Youths for Accountability” has raised an alarm over an alleged approval and expenditure of N200 million for the recently held Ondo Summit in the state.

According to the group’s coordinator, Taiwo Hassan, the Permanent Secretaries of various ministries were compelled to pay N1.2 million each to allow three delegates from their respective ministries to attend the event.

The group also highlighted that local governments in the state were forced to pay N1 million to attend the summit.

In a statement issued in Akure, the state capital, Hassan described this development as unacceptable and unfair.

Hassan stated, “We are saddened by the recent actions of the acting governor, who unilaterally approved a whopping sum of N200 million for the Develop Ondo.

PoliticsSHOCKING: Ondo Group Reveals How Deputy Governor Spends His Staff Allowances by OndoEyes(op):
ONDO: WHEN LOYALTY BECOMES A BURDEN

Loyalty has remained a prominent term and a valuable virtue in various sociopolitical and economic contexts. Disloyalty, on the other hand, has been associated with divisions within political and business establishments. Across the globe, exceptional leaders have often been associated with unwavering loyalty to a cause or organization they believe in. It is this profound sense of dedication, commitment, and willingness to make sacrifices that has consistently played a pivotal role in their achievements.

Loyalty and disloyalty have seasons of test when the chaffs are separated from the grains. When such wind of trials blow, pretenders are separated from the diehard.Nature itself presents opportune moments to assess our commitment to a particular cause.

The current situation in our beloved Ondo state demands a thoughtful interrogation that goes beyond political biases or patronage. It is essential to thoroughly analyze the facts and rumors available in the public domain. The recent medical leave embarked upon by Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN,CON has revealed significant political issues within the Government.

As responsible citizens of the Sunshine State, we owe it a duty to protect the dignity of our State and resist crisis entrepreneurs and mere opportunists to turn our place of pride to a war zone. All over the world, the people of Ondo State are known for sterling character, courage and integrity. Any attempt to misrepresent our collective pride will be met with stiff opposition.

No doubt, it is glaring that the absence of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON has revealed the deep rooted politcal and administrative divisions in the government. Since the Governor embarked on medical vacation, there have been an array of issues and conflicts in the Government. It is important for us to critically evaluate the various narratives in the public domain so as not to join the bad wagon.

At the centre of this controversy are the Deputy Governor, who is now acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Commissioner for Finance; Wale Akinterinwa and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Dare Aragbaiye. There have been protracted narratives from various sources about the happenings inside the Alagbaka Governor’s office. The claims by the opportunists and loyalist of the Acting Governor, among others include;

1. That Aragbaiye and few others have constituted themselves as cabals in the Government
2. That Aragbaiye is preventing Aiyedatiwa to function effectively as acting Governor
3. That Aragbaiye and the Commissioner for Finance refused to release fund for the deputy governor to perform his duties
4. That Lucky Aiyedatiwa has not been able to summon a State Executive Council meeting since he took over as acting Governor
5. That nothing is moving in the State including security.

The above claims were drawn from the various social media interventions suspected to have been inspired and sponsored by Aiyedatiwa. The recent one written by known crisis entrepreneur and charge and bail lawyer, Tolu Babaleye was screaming Aiyedatiwa in both content and structure. Babaleye is a spent force who desires to make a fortune from Aiyedatiwa’s political desperation. Since the Law practise has not fetched him good fortune , he is at Liberty to milk a desperate political player.

1. The claim that Aragbaiye and few others have constituted themselves as cabals in the Government is not substantiated with facts. Those who are familiar with the case of cabals in Governments would understand that there are no cabals in the Ondo State Government. The question we should ask ourselves is that what informed the recent hostility in the Government. Since 2021, Governor Akeredolu has been embarking on yearly vacations. Each time, he would transfer power to Aiyedatiwa in acting capacity. All these times, we didn’t hear about these cabals in Government. What has now changed ? Why the sudden rise of cabals in Government? What exactly are these people doing that have made them cabals? Is this the first time that Aiyedatiwa will be Acting Governor?

2. The narrative that Aragbaiye is preventing Aiyedatiwa to function effectively as the ActingGovernor is laughable and ridiculous. How can a Special Adviser prevent a Deputy Governor from functioning as acting Governor? Has Aragbaiye grounded the Deputy Governor’s office? Has the deputy governor issued any directive to any cabinet member and Aragbaiye asked them to disobey? We have seen the acting Governor attending events and performing the functions of the Governor including receiving important state guest in courtesy visit. One would wonder how Aragbaiye is preventing the acting governor from performing effectively. It should be noted that Aiyedatiwa and his cohorts have failed to expatiate on this claim.

3. The claim that Aragbaiye and the Commissioner for Finance refused to release money for the Deputy Governor to perform his duties is preposterous. The absurdity in this claim smells a suspicious twist to the issue on ground. We know that the office of the Deputy Governor is established to function effectively in the governor's absence. There are budgetary provisions for travelling allowances, gifts, meals, and other expenses for the deputy governor's office. Is the deputy governor’s office starved of fund? Is Aragbaiye responsible for the disbursement of funds to the Deputy governor’s office? We should ask Aiyedatiwa if he has requested fund from Finance following due process and has been rejected. He should be able to show evidence of such letter of request.

4. Executive council meetings are summoned by the Governor to discuss serious matters affecting Government and the good people of the State and not for jamboree or funfair. Those who claimed that Lucky Aiyedatiwa hasn’t been able to summon a State Executive council meeting since he took over as acting Governor are pathological liars. They are spinning these false narrative to paint some people bad and label them as stumbling block. It is evident that on the 19th of June, Aiyedatiwa summoned a State Executive Council meeting which was well attended by Cabinet members. Has he summoned another one since then and it wasn’t honored? He should let us know.

5. The lie being told by Aiyedatiwa’s apologists that nothing is moving in the state including security is a slap on the Acting Governor. He must be unaware of the various operations of the Amotekun corps. Except he is also insinuating that the Amotekun commander who doubles as Special Adviser to the Governor on Security is also part of the cabals in Government.

Numerous questions are begging for answers from Aiyedatiwa.

Why is he only interested in the affairs of Government House and Protocol Dept?

Perhaps, we should ask Aiyedatiwa why he is not disclosing what is happening at the Local Government Level(JAAC) under his watch where monies are shared indiscriminately. He should let the people of the State know how much he takes from JAAC on a monthly basis.

Why is he not interested in even looking at measures to ameliorate the suffering of the people of Ondo State due to the removal of fuel subsidy. I'm sure that the good people of Ondo State are missing their Governor.

Aiyedatiwa should explain why he derives joy in spending allowances of his personal Aides. He should desist from collecting allowances meant for his staff.

What has he done since power was transmitted to him other than sponsoring personal attacks on persons perceived to be loyal to Gov Akeredolu.

It is evident that the acting governor and his hirelings are not bold enough to state the main reason for their unabated attacks on Aragbaiye. A man who has made good name for himself. Dare Aragbaiye, a quintessential Public Administrator who has in his career as a Civil Servant, served as Private Secretary to two(2)succesive Military Governors of Ondo State, Colonel later Brigadier Ekundayo Opaleye and Navy Captain, later Commandore Olabode George. He also served as Chief Protocol Officer to the former Deputy Governor, Lt. Dr Olusegun Agagu and later as Personal Assistant to former Military Governor, Colonel Moses Fasanya. He was thereafter appointed as Permanent Secretary by Governor Olusegun Mimiko in year 2012 and was appointed Head of Service in year 2019 by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN,CON. In all these various positions, Aragbaiye's loyalty to his bosses are absolute. While he also served under Governor Akeredolu, he has earned the trust and confidence of the Governor. That is what Aiyedatiwa and his cohort want him to betray. But those who know Aragbaiye know that he is dedicated, firm, loyal, fearless, commited and trustworthy. I know that he will not be cowed into allowing corruption and abuse of public office.

The acting governor and his own “cabals” have failed to provide evidence of any significant changes in Dare Aragbaiye's conduct since the Governor went on medical leave. What has he done differently that he wasn’t doing when the Governor was around? Aiyedatiwa's supporters should delve deeper and present a more realistic narrative. If Aragbaiye's role in the Government has indeed changed during the governor's absence, they should inform us. It’s not enough to pick on him as a convenient scapegoat. You cannot make him forfeit his loyalty to the Governor.

People like Tolu Babaleye and other recruits of Aiyedatiwa want us to believe that their paymaster is the victim in this recent released story on the Social media. However, they seem to forget that we live in an ecosystem where information spreads rapidly. Apart from their fabricated lies and mischievous tactics, it is widely known that Aiyedatiwa has become disloyal. His wish is for the Governor not to return, a plan that will surely fail. As acting Governor, his relentless attacks on Aragbaiye and the Finance Commissioner, Wale Akinterinwa, stem from his desire for unrestricted access to the state treasury without following due process.

The claim that Aiyedatiwa is being deprived of funds and unable to attend functions outside the state due to this reason is baseless and unintelligent. The roles played by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Gbenga Ale, are evident. He is actively supporting the Deputy Governor and encouraging him to confront those close to the Governor. To the Chief of Staff, Aragbaiye is considered a sworn enemy due to his refusal to allow them to misuse Government resources. The Chief of Staff holds grievances because the Governor did not trust him to assign to him sensitive roles and responsibilities.

Succesive Governors have their own approach to internal administration. The operational runnings of Government House and Protocol is at the discretion of the Governor. Gbenga Ale, known for greed and sharp practices has been nursing a deep seated hatred towards Aragbaiye because the Governor didn’t allow him to be incharge of Government House and Protocol. Let me say, that during Governor Mimiko’s regime, Pastor Gbadebo was DFA for 3 years before he became the PS of Government House and Protocol. As DFA, he was reporting directly to Governor Mimiko on affairs of Government House and Protocol not through the then Chief of Staff. That was Mimiko’s discretion.

One thing is clear, the people of the State must understand that Aragbaiye is only carrying the burden of loyalty. Aiyedatiwa and his allies are questioning his loyalty to the Governor. The attacks on Aragbaiye directly undermine the Governor. The deputy governor's desperation has created a significant divide within the Government. It is essential for him to cease the noise about reshuffling the cabinet. And if he so desire to reshuffle the Cabinet and appoint his cronies, he should go ahead. Numerous lies have been spread, particularly on social media. The acting Governor should refrain from spreading falsehoods and should be able to state the facts and face the reality.

..Quizzes officers over details of gov’s earnings, spendings

THE frosty relationship between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, and his Deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, yesterday, took a new twist, as there are alleged plans to supplant the governor.

Akeredolu transmitted power to the deputy governor, after embarking on medical treatment, and is expected back in the country on July 6.

But fresh facts emerged that since the announcement of the power transfer, Mr Aiyedatiwa has reportedly been “undermining the authority of the governor’s office through his actions and decisions.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on special duties and strategies, Dr Doyin Odebowale recently raised the alarm that some politicians are using the absence of Akeredolu, who is currently on medical vacation, to capture the state’s treasury.

A reliable government source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the deputy governor has demanded unrestricted access to the state treasury.

The source disclosed that asides from his regular monthly allocation, Aiyedatiwa has insisted on receiving the governor’s allowance and other benefits associated with the office.

It was further gathered that the deputy governor has been interrogating government officials about the governor’s earnings and expenditures.

The source, however, said: “We are not concerned about the political turmoil within the government. Our priority is ensuring due process. The governor’s office does not directly instruct us to release funds.

“There are established procedures for financial disbursements in the government, and all approvals must go through the Ministry of Finance.

“Aside from the running grant accruing to the deputy governor’s office monthly, he has also demanded that the governor’s running grant and other emoluments attached to the office of the governor be handed to him as acting Governor.

“In the past week, the deputy governor has summoned and threatened two of our officials. He has inquired about the governor’s spending and demanded to know how funds allocated to the governor’s office are disbursed.

“He believes he is entitled to two streams of funding, insisting that the governor’s office allocation should be included as part of his role as acting governor.

“During the encounters with our officials, they kindly explained that even the governor’s office route its approvals through the Ministry of Finance.

“However, the deputy governor remains obstinate, repeatedly demanding immediate funds. Despite our attempts to educate him on proper financial protocols and the responsible use of public funds, he persists.

“He has been confrontational and demanding. We see this as executive recklessness. While we understand tensions may be high, we would prefer not to be involved in any reckless activities.”

Refusing the schedule of activities

Another reliable source, who pleaded anonymity due to his closeness to the government, said the deputy governor has been refusing the schedule of activities as being prepared by the governor’s office.

The source said: “The deputy governor has gone haywire. It is like he has made up his mind to fight his boss openly. There is no other way to fight your boss than refusing the schedules from his office.

“The deputy governor is more concerned about working outside the state so as to get access to allowances and other emoluments.

“On Wednesday, the Deputy Governor was supposed to represent the governor at the 2023 FIDA Nigeria held at the International Centre for Culture and Event (DOME). But he declined, he chose to attend the 2023 NAF Conference World Hydrography Day in Abuja.

“This is just one of the many instances where he declined schedules. The events that were initially accepted by the governor in which the governor had already promised his presence or that of the deputy governor are now being declined by the deputy governor.”

It will be recalled that Ayedatiwa had urged Nigerians not to relent in praying for his boss and also debunked rumours about the disruption of government activities.

The acting governor had said: “We, therefore, enjoin the good people of Ondo State and all friends of our dear Sunshine State not to relent in their prayers for Mr Governor’s quick recovery, so that he can resume duty after his medical vacation, to continue with his good works for the betterment of Ondo State in particular and Nigeria at large.

“Rumours about the disruption of government activities are misplaced and only arose as a result of impatience and lack of proper understanding of the running of the machinery of government.

“Such misrepresentations and baseless allusions are to be expected when political gladiators by their activities in the build-up to party primaries and gubernatorial elections in any state try to heat the polity. Ondo State cannot be an exception.”

PoliticsOndo Deputy Gov. Accused Of Circulating Fake Stories About Akeredolu’s Health by OndoEyes(op): 11:51am On Jun 12, 2023
There is a noticeable unease among the members of the Ondo State Executive Council as the deputy governor reportedly moves to battle the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, over the governorship seat.

Sources within the government have revealed that the governor has become aware of the deputy governor’s lack of loyalty, Politics Nigeria reports.

While the deputy governor has not officially declared his intention to run in the 2024 gubernatorial elections in the state, his campaign is said to have begun some time ago.

The trouble began when Governor Akeredolu went on vacation and entrusted the deputy governor with the responsibilities of the governor’s office.

During his short stay as acting governor, the deputy governor, it is alleged, prioritized his personal interests over the state’s and the governor’s.

Furthermore, some members of the Executive Council have pointed fingers at the deputy governor regarding the circulation of stories about the governor’s health and subsequent rumors of his demise.

The Exco members, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, revealed that the deputy governor had sparked rumors about the governor’s health.

Expressing disappointment with the governor’s choice of deputy governors, one of the Exco members clarified that Akeredolu’s health was not deteriorating.

He explained: “The deputy governor is behind all these circulating stories. What actually happened was that after the Cabinet meeting three weeks ago and the subsequent courtesy visits, the governor decided to take some time to rest.

“Then, last Sunday, he left Akure for Ibadan in the hope of getting some much-needed rest. The governor has been advised to deliberately spend quality time resting. So, the deputy governor went to Ibadan to visit him and brought along some files.

“However, he didn’t inform the governor or his close aides about his visit. Upon reaching Ibadan, the governor signed the files, which were then returned to him. But the governor didn’t wait to talk to the deputy governor.

“When he returned to Akure, he started telling some of our associates that the governor should transfer power to him. He even attempted to persuade Exco members to support his position.

“He deliberately initiated these rumors about the governor’s health to gain public sympathy and support. The deputy governor lied to us. It was only when we started contacting the governor ourselves that we learned the truth.

“Just last Monday, the governor signed the May 2023 salary. The fact that the ministries are functioning should assure you that the governor is in charge and actively involved. At present, he is upset and pissed with these false stories.”

In a related development, a group called the Renewed Mandate Progressives Forum (RMPF) has accused the Deputy Governor of plotting to cause confusion and seize power from the governor’s office.

The group, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Maxwell Olajuni, alleged that the deputy governor is inciting other members of the cabinet against the governor.

However, a government insider revealed that the deputy governor has already formed a group within the cabinet.

“The deputy governor has promised the Commissioner for Mines and Energy, Rasaq Obe, that he would be his deputy if their plan to remove the governor from power succeeds. Furthermore, he has assured the current Chief of Staff, Gbenga Ale, that he would appoint him as Secretary to the State Government.

"Unfortunately, the duo of Rasaq Obe, Wale Akinlosotu (Commissioner for Culture and Tourism), are all vying to become Aiyedatiwa’s deputy governor.

“Also, the Special Adviser on Gender, Olamide Falana has pledged loyalty to the deputy Governor as part of her scheming to be NDDC State Representative nominee. Falana is said to be using a member of the National Assembly from the Northern senatorial district to champion her aspiration.”

But because next year will be the 25th anniversary of our democratic experience, it's also expected that by now our legislative branch, if not the entire three arms of government, would have gone through some self-cleansing and sanitation.

By Josh, there are still very fine, refined, noble, honest, responsible, astute, reflective, and virtuous men and women in and out of the Nigerian landscape to populate our legislature and the conditions for entrance as a member of the Third Estate should have by now become very stringent that a shady, crooked, fraudulent, arrogant, irresponsible and intellectually vacuous character like Jimoh Ibrahim, the new Senator-elect from the Southern senatorial district of Ondo State should have had enormous difficulties getting the APC ticket, let alone winning an election.

One had thought that Jimoh Ibrahim's fairly long sojourn in the United Kingdom would have reshaped him into being a responsible member of society. But when he opened his mouth during a Channels TV interview with Seun Okinbaloye a couple of days ago, one realized that this is Deja vu all over again as Jimoh Ibrahim has learned nothing----and forgot nothing. He's simply a new and improved con artist and an amoral, morbidly selfish, arrogant nitwit.

But before one gets into what he might have said to earn him this opprobrium (and I admit it is), it's important to stress here that Jimoh Ibrahim is a naturally vainglorious personality, a pathological braggart tinged with vacuous condescension who says a lot of things without really saying anything just to impress the gullible. And most people are anyway.

Those who are discerning, and familiar with his braggadocio will always see him as an amusing entertainer, an empty barrel who's always desperate to be seen as a captain of industries by mouthing his businesses, most of which have since collapsed or became moribund. In any case, an authentic captain of industry does not boast. He doesn't even talk unless it's absolutely necessary.

Let's now delve into the issue under reference. After inundating Seun Okinbaloye with his academic accomplishments (which in itself can be commended except that this academic foundation was faulty----and one shall leave it at that), Jimoh Ibrahim dived into the same voodoo economics with which he scammed the federal government in those days, which necessitated the latter to establish AMCON, a vehicle that repossesses movable and immovable properties from chronic debtors like Jimoh Ibrahim to save the nation's economy.

He said the Nigerian government can literally retire its "debts in 90 days," and then engage in another round of heavy borrowing as if money was going out of fashion while lacing his so-called expertise in the field of finance with words such as "moratorium" and "honorarium" as well as "bridge financing" without any suggestion as to how the government should first plug the huge manholes and ineffectual and redundant bureaucracies that sucks revenues.

"Have you sold these ideas to President Tinubu?" Seun inquired.

"Well, I spoke with him last when we were doing the campaign on abandoned projects. I shouldn't be giving you these ideas for free. I should be charging hundreds of millions of dollars for this knowledge," Ibrahim responded.

Seun followed up and said, "You are a member of the APC. Shouldn't you be offering some of this knowledge that you have?"

It was at this point that Jimoh Ibrahim flew off the handle with the following irksome statement.

"Did APC pay my school fees? Did APC come to me in Cambridge when I was suffering and riding on a (sic) bicycle when I had to force back my private jet and I was crying at night? I have invested in knowledge. You need to consult the people that know. If you're (sic) my son, I would not give it [knowledge] to you. Is it easy to come by?

The instructive thing here is not necessarily what Jimoh Ibrahim said as the discerning knows too well that this master con artist is simply trying to position himself to engage in another round of scamming the next National Assembly and the Nigerian government, but the disrespect and disdain for the party and its faithful who truly deserve the ticket that was gifted this ungrateful ingrate.

Pray, what knowledge has Jimoh Ibrahim invested in that other party members who gave, and continues to freely give their expertise for the development of the party and the country haven't?

How many party faithful did the APC pay their school fees, yet have remained unflinching in their support and loyalty to the party and its cause even in the face of injustice?

As the holy writ says that "From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh," those who know Jimoh Ibrahim up close cannot be surprised in the least when he said even if Seun were to be his son, he still wouldn't share the knowledge he has invested so much to acquire. Jimoh Ibrahim is an unfeeling personality whose spirit of giving, with his opulence, is long dead. He was saying the truth that he wouldn't even give his son his knowledge (wealth).

The billionaire's first wife still ekes out a living selling pepper on the streets of Igbotako, his hometown in Ondo State. His younger brother, also a lawyer, died of kidney failure years ago because this dangerously wealthy man couldn't give his brother the N2 million needed to do a kidney transplant. The billionaire's mother's house, which was a stone's throw from her son's caught fire from a lit candle because Ibrahim failed to provide electricity for his mother's dwelling. And she was burnt beyond recognition. One can go on and on.

Jimoh Ibrahim, who said President Tinubu liked his idea about solving the problem of abandoned properties is himself an epitome of abandoned projects. His house in Igbotako was abandoned. His so-called university has been abandoned. His filling station in Akure was abandoned, not to talk of his many business entities that had gone under and a significant number of his former staff were sent to their early graves because he refused to pay their salaries and other entitlements.

Yet, he would brag that he was the first human being to have gone to Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge at a stretch and came out with flying colours where the knowledge he acquired in these ivory towers enabled him to send a cat to the moon which fetched him trillions of dollars in the process because of his knowledge, and ingenuity which his country must now pay for if she wants out of her debt peonage.

While Jimoh Ibrahim can poke his nose with his uncouth, repulsive, and nauseating statement at the party because of the mercantilist disposition of some people in the state's party hierarchy as he may have paid a princely sum for his ticket, he cannot, and should not be allowed to disrespect those strongly committed progressives in the state who continues to maintain fidelity to the party and its progressive ideals, despite not being adequately rewarded for their toils.

APC must be taken back from charlatans who have no respect for the party like Jimoh Ibrahim who will surely end up a failure in the Red Chamber as he was in the private sector.

And I am willing to bet on this!

Ondo Deputy Gov in domestic violence scandal as wife threatens To release pictures, videos of assault

The marriage between the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Ayedatiwa and his wife, Oluwaseun, is currently in crisis over allegations of domestic violence.

Oluwaseun has accused her husband of beating her many times under the influence of alcohol.

She also threatened to release pictures and videos against the deputy governor if he denies the allegations.

Narrating her experience in a statement, she said, “I have come across numerous comments regarding the statement released by the Women Group, the Society for Women Empowerment (SWE).

“Although I cannot ascertain the existence of the group or the true intentions behind the story, I feel it is important to express my pain for the sake of other women.

“I am a woman who deeply respects and supports my husband. Our story, like many others, has been one of grace and growth. While I am sociable, I am always mindful of my husband’s position.

“I have dedicated myself to nurturing our home and children, as any wife and mother would. I have done so with unwavering strength.

“Prior to Lucky’s appointment as the deputy governor, we had ongoing issues revolving around abusive behavior. Each time, he would apologize, often attributing his actions to alcohol.

“Our children have witnessed this on two occasions. They implored me to have him arrested, but I explained that Nigerian culture does not provide room for such measures.

“I am not happy about revealing my personal struggles publicly. It is a painful reality I must confront.

“I have reached the conclusion that concerted efforts must be made to eradicate the scourge of violence against women.

“I have endured physical, emotional, and mental abuse from my husband beatings, torture, and constant mistreatment.

“On December 1, 2022, during a minor argument, I experienced one of the most severe beatings of my life at the hands of my husband.

“I was left bruised and battered, to the extent that I could not attend the birthday ceremony of Toyin Akeredolu, the younger sister of Governor Akeredolu, in Ibadan. He threatened to kill me, uttering words of disdain.

“On Friday, December 2, I traveled to Ibadan to meet with the First Lady, Chief Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu, to report Lucky’s actions. When she saw my battered face, she was enraged.

“She subsequently reported Lucky to the Governor. Lucky used to be the First Lady’s favorite, but since that day, she has distanced herself from him.

“Upon returning to Akure, even with my bruised face, Lucky slapped me again. He accused me of exposing him to the Governor and First Lady.

“He not only slapped me but also poured Hennessy on my head, berating me as a worthless woman.

“A few days before the FOWOSO summit, I was burdened with depression and numerous issues. I had already made up my mind not to attend the programme.

“However, Lucky approached me, pleaded, and promised never to harm me again. I had to apply heavy makeup and wear dark glasses to conceal the bruises on my face, just to attend the event.

“By the end of January, Lucky resumed his abusive behavior. As much as I am a strong supporter of his aspirations to succeed the Governor, I have consistently advised him to exhibit decorum in his public life.

“Every time I mentioned this, he dismissed it as jealousy and insecurity, showing no regard for my feelings.

“Disrespectful calls were frequently received at our home, especially from one Ambassador Tolu Taiwo, one of his girlfriends.

“During the first week of February, we had a conversation about his political aspirations, and I advised him to refrain from making certain remarks to people. Instead of considering my advice, he unleashed his anger on me, subjecting me to further physical abuse.

“He threatened to kill me and make another woman the First Lady when he becomes Governor.

“Lucky not only assaulted me but also locked me out of the house. I had to spend two nights at St. Jacob Hotel.

“He instructed the gatekeeper not to allow me entry. From there, I had to travel to Lagos and eventually moved to Ilesa, my hometown.

“After being locked out, my driver eventually went to the house to retrieve my bag, which contained my passport. Since then, I have relocated to London.

“I am aware that Lucky may attempt to deny this story once again. However, I urge you to question him: Why have I not refuted the allegations of his abuse?

“He is my husband, and no woman would want to falsely accuse her spouse. If he claims that all of this is untrue, ask him to call me and put our conversation on speaker. He is well aware of my position on this matter. I refuse to continue hiding and suffering in silence.

“Once again, the First Lady is fully aware of this situation.

“If Lucky denies it once more, I will come out with pictures and videos, no matter how humiliating it sounds. I am taking this step because I can no longer endure this situation silently.”

MY ORDEAL AT THE HANDS OF LUCKY

I have come across numerous comments regarding the statement released by the Women Group, the Society for Women Empowerment (SWE). Although I cannot ascertain the existence of the group or the true intentions behind the story, I feel it is important to express my pain for the sake of other women.

I am a woman who deeply respects and supports my husband. Our story, like many others, has been one of grace and growth. While I am sociable, I am always mindful of my husband's position. I have dedicated myself to nurturing our home and children, as any wife and mother would. I have done so with unwavering strength.

I am not happy about revealing my personal struggles publicly. It is a painful reality I must confront.
