PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by oneeast: 9:04pm On Jul 03, 2012
spyder880: @ one.east, please chill, my place in Nomeh Nkanu east has never ever had a road project since life began. Ngwo is 100% better than my place, and you are calling the govnor.

Chimaroke wanted to start that project at hill top, Onyeama and the youths chased out the workers, I was living around that project then.
Which youth? Can the youth be more powerful than government, more especially on a project that will turn their lives for good. I mean the governor should stop immediately this deception in enugu urban.
I asked earlier have you been to Udi? Udi is over 100years old, but today their is no hospital nor a commercial bank in the entire Udi. Its all because the rural areas has been left to rot away. Most people does not even spend holidays in enugu rural areas because of inaccessible nature of the place. I have a friend from Abagana, I spend my xmas every year in their town. Atimes I wish to be from the place because of how development has reached the grassroot.

ZUBY77: for once we are celebrating. Stop killing yourself and create a new thread for your anger. People will still contribute posts.
Keep deceiving yourself, while drunk with celebration of fallacy. Ofcos there is nothing to celebrate yet in my home state of enugu. Its still a dry town without money and major business investments. rather SA machineries has come to rob our enterprising people their daily bread. I bet you all these shoprite your killing yourself with, will soon go the way of UAC, Mr Biggs, Lennards and the rest of them and our people will be laid out and dumped again. Just wait small and see. The earlier we empower our people agriculturally by providing the necessary rural road infrastructures that is heavily at deficit in enugu state the better we will all become. Check it again:

Abia- has oil and gas
Imo- has oil and gas
Anambra -has oil and gas including refinery
Ebonyi- has agriculture

Now tell me in clear terms what has Enugu? Enugu state has nothing instead we are celebrating few KM of roads tarred in the urban center, start facing reality for once, the error we fail to correct today will hurt us in the near future. Already Enugu state is listed among the financially incapacitated and weak states. Keep busy bro

PROUD-IGBO:
^^^I understand where you're coming from, and my blood used to boil as well (and still does sometimes) when i see the underdevelopment in and outside the main towns and cities in the South East. But then i stop, check myself, and remember exactly what we have had to contend with as a people since the early 70's. The fact that we have achieved this much in many areas of human endeavour inspite of all the odds, is a testament to the can-do/never-say-never spirit of Ndigbo.

With time and -more importantly- good visionary people leading our affairs, together with ALL OF US chipping in our little contributions (by way of investments back home; assisting with the upkeep or construction of hospitals and schools; sponsoring our young ones to school; etc) i'm sure we will rise to the level God has destined for us as a people. The commitment and focus has to be there though.
My point is that the governor should stop deceiving himself. He should concentrate attention in rural areas to empower the people over there. Even the road from 9th mile to my house at Ngwo is quite unmotorable.

I had to pack my car at 9th mile all thru the xmas because of inaccessibility of the rural communities. I so much wish that my lovely state Enugu will soon develop eveningly more especially rural, just like we are seeing in our sister state Anambra. Can you imagine that I was amazed when I got to Agulu last month it was already developing into a town because of govt provision of accessible infrastructure.

Places like Ekwulobia and Umunze are presently witnessing influx of people, business and bank presence due to accessible roads there reducing rural-urban migration. I want to see a day when places as Udi and Nsukka of over 100years will be revived for people to live and trade/work and attract businesses. Before now Chimaroke commenced construction of an International market along the expressway after 'ugwu onyeama', the project was to trap huge capital flight leaving Enugu state on daily basis to Onitsha for shopping, this governor should have completed the project instead he has gone on a wide goose chase, leaving the rural areas to rot. Even farmers cannot transport their wares due to inaccessibility.

We cannot keeping praising a failed governor who is merely running maintenance and painting of roads on already existing infrastructure. We in Ngwo cannot wait for a capable hand to take over government soon.

Our people keeps celebrating mediocrity. What is positive economic impact of shoprite, if not killing our local enterprises? Showing showing pictures of shoprite, its funny attitude of toddlers. Showing pictures of urban areas, what about enugu rural areas? Have any of you celebrators of failure traveled to Udi to Nsukka to Awgu to Ugwuaji to Nkanu to Achi ann that axis of timidities in enugu state? Am from Nkwo but it pains me when I tour round rural communities of enugu state, its really really a horrible sight to behold. Its has made enugu state of over 100 years to continue to be over 70-75% rural.

Am not chino.

Obi live in Awka and Agulu. Am not here to compare state capitals, each has its peculiarities. As for Awka its growing into huge hospitality city, because within a short period of time hotels, clubs and jolly spots has overtaken living houses in the town.

I will leave you to wallow in your ignorance. You might as well ask me where is Okokomaiko.

Awka is looking good everyday, the only undoing of Awka is Onitsha-Awka expressway which is presently under construction.
PoliticsRe: Peter Obi And The Limits Of Propaganda by oneeast: 12:49am On Jun 16, 2012
The Koreans will deliver this project by December or early in 2013. I pass the site everyday on my way to work, the site is usually filled with cranes, work men both expatriate and Nigerian working with floodlight so that they can deliver on schedule. http://lganidsmall.com/index.html

This is the some of the work of magic wand of Obi, attracting major multinationals to Anambra. This Awka city LG world Mall will compete with international malls in Dubai and South Africa.
PoliticsRe: Peter Obi And The Limits Of Propaganda by oneeast: 12:39am On Jun 16, 2012
You lies are from the pit of hell.

Peter Obi stays in Awka 100%. He only visits his home in Agulu and Onitsha, because his father owns quite number of good properties in GRA onitsha where he (Peter Obi) grew up. So stop spreading lies upon lies. So many big time Anambrains are buying up land in Awka GRA for their development. The likes of Soludo, Akunyili, Ekwunife, Ibeto, POKO bros are all building their houses in Awka. At least I know that Andy Uba's mansion just behind Ngige's house in Awka GRA is nearing completion. The face of Awka is changing everyday, with fascinating modern structures and hospitality industry springing up. As I told said earlier we are getting there.

Everybody is against you mr Globe, and now your beginning to think that Bashr and one.east is one person. Why not give it up and realise that you are not making any point. Anambra is working, at least I live and work in Anambra, Awka precisely. Obi has laid the roadmap for Anambra, we are getting better everyday. LG World is doing their world class mall in Awka, shoprite is doing theirs in Onitsha. This investors are trooping to Anambra due to enabling environment and sound road network connecting all the communities of Anambra.

Check this site bro to see what Korean giants doing now in Awka; http://lganidsmall.com/index.html

bashr8: why should i answer that. the economy of anambra have been big even before europeans came and its been growing since then, not even civil war and mbadinuju tenure could stop it, even if there is no governor today it will keep growing because it has no tie to federal or state government neither is it dependent on nigerian consumers alone.

PoliticsRe: El- -rufai Insulted Igbo Race —obi by oneeast: 5:33pm On Jun 10, 2012
Nightshift: The fact is that Anambra State has not exploited its potential to fullest. A State that has aspired to become "The Bavaria " of Igboland industrially, found itself struggling against the overwhelming "OMATA" mentality which its politicians exhibited throughout the State's first decade of creation.
Gov.Obi has done well by opening up Anambra's rural areas with new road networks, but more infrastructural investment is needed in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi.Onitsha for example, lacks everything that an industrial City needs to attract investment.Nnewi is in the same league as well.No businessman or investor wants kidnapped while clutching his briefcase inspecting land to house his factory.
Anambra high school boys are said to be more interested in joining spare-parts trade than scoring better marks for college admission, unlike their peers from Imo or Enugu State. I think what the Mallam meant is that Gov.Obi's budget was being applied mostly in the wrong sectors, instead of where it is needed to improve Anambra's socioeconomic status. Does potentials alone develop a country or state?
Did you mention enugu state? What is the contribution of enugu state to the economic development of SE? Education enugu state got zero, they can only be compared to such states as Zamfara, Gombe when it comes to education.

Anambra is in the class of its own; no state competes with it in all ramification of human development index. The only state that is little above it in education is imo. Outside that Anambra has got the best and brightest brains and mind Nigeria can boost of at least today.
PoliticsRe: El- -rufai Insulted Igbo Race —obi by oneeast: 5:22pm On Jun 10, 2012
Onlytruth: Like I said before, only a troll would call Obi a failure (especially when compared to other governors in Nigeria).
Another thing that anyone WITH BRAINS would observe is that APGA is turning down merger invitations from other opposition parties. The 2015 politics is well underway!

Someone rightly observed that Anambra state is the most feared state in Igboland. Pull down Anambra state; destroy Igbo political solidity. FACT.

Mallam is a very astute politician. He knows what he is doing.
I never thought I would see a day when a Northerner that contributes ZERO to national coffers would call the most hard working state backwards. When some folks call for reduction of federal government reach and power, people like El Rufai fight it to the bitter end, yet they wake up from the dead to start attacking a state that gets some of the least federal allocation, and still produce some of the best educated Nigerian. SMH @ this level of desperation.
That is a fact, even an Hausa shoe-shiner in Onitsha is very much aware of. Anambra is the Eye and Heart of Ndigbo, so Elrufai knows exactly where to punch. He knows that if succeed in Anambra all other SE state will just crumble at his sight. All the political heavy weight from the time of great Zik till today are all from Anambra. So Elrufai we know your game. cool

Don't mind that bastard that calls himselve (MR GLOBE). He is def. not from Anambra, he is one of these outsiders that are so envious of the leading status of Anambra in Igboland.
I have been watching the bingo, he does not deserve our response. Obi is the kind of people we need in governance, he does not believe in wasteful ventures, he has attracted some good number of multinationals that will forever change the economy of Anambra and SE by extention for good.

Development is not about tarring few KM of roads. Obi is tackling all sectors at once and the state will be better and best for it. I live and work in Onitsha am a living witness that Obi has done more roads connecting all the communities in the state than any other in SE.

My friends that visited for my sister's trad. confessed it. We traveled from Onitsha to Ekwulubia to Umunze without entering any pot hole and traveled back the following day back to Awka and then Onitsha on a smooth road. The only road that is bad now in Anambra is the Onitsha-Awka federal expressway, which is being presently reconstructed and remodeled by FG.

People who pass that road can confirm that the road presently under construction with a flyover at Nkpor Junctn almost completed.

Imagine calling the economic hub of the SE, rural state. It can only come from political jobbers like elrufai who are seeking attention. Knowing that its by insulting the most important SE state that he came achieve celebrity status. All these mudslinging by Elrufai is borne out of the fact that GEJ is secretly planning to hand over to Obi in 2015.

Obi is expected to decamp to PDP any moment from now to perfect the 2015 race. The north has been shook to its foundation over the plan by GEJ to annoint Obi for 2015 race, so they have decided to throw jabs to Obi via Elrifai to poison the minds of Anambrans and SE at large.

Obi knew about it that is why, his first response was that it was an insult on ndigbo. He could have responded in other-words, but he knew the grounds upon which Elrufai has been recruited to attack his political life.

2015 race has since begun so umunne mu watch out and don't be deceived by arm-chair critics.

The same people that their leaders took bribe from the ordinary almajiri junta led govt to slaughtered Abiaola; the same people that protested that it is sacrilegious to rename unilag after abiaola are out again from their rain forest cave region yapping again.

The same people that betrayed Ribadu and switched their votes for GEJ at the 11th hour for a fee are out once again to eulogies abioala. I pity Buhari who has chosen the path of destruction to pitch his tent with the most monstrous and mischievous tribe- Yoruba.

CrimeWoman Accuses Ondo Monarch Of Attempted Rape by oneeast(op): 10:18am On Jun 08, 2012
A woman, Mrs. Comfort Awogbamila, had in a statement read in court alleged that Olusupare of Supare-Akoko, Oba Adedeji Adejoro, attempted to rape her.

The statement was read on Thursday before a Chief Magistrate’s Court by policeman, Mr. Ewarawon Fayowole.

This followed a request by Awogbamila’s lawyer, Mr. Duro Adonis that the court should ask the policeman to read his client’s statement made to the police.

Awogbamila said the monarch attempted to rape her at his residence in Supare town, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Fayowole also told the court that the monarch’s wife, Sherifat, had engaged Awogbamila in a public brawl on two occasions within a week.

Sherifat is currently facing two counts of engaging in an act capable of causing a breach of public peace.

The police charged the queen and Awogbamila to court on May 7.

The charge preferred against the two accused had read in part: “That you Comfort Awogbami and Olori Sherifat Adedeji on 4th of May, 2012 at about 8pm at Supare Magisterial district unlawfully involved yourself in fighting in a public at Ugbe quarters Supare Akoko and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 83 of the Criminal Code cap 37 vol ii, laws of Ondo State”

The accused were also charged with conduct likely to cause breach of peace contrary and punishable under Section 249(d) of the criminal code cap 37 Vol 11 laws of the state.

However, when the case came up for hearing on Thursday, the Investigating Police Officer, Fayowole, told the court that the fight between the women caused uproar in the town on May 4.

The IPO tendered Awogbamila’s statement where she alleged that the monarch invited her to his house and attempted to rape her.

However, Adonis, accused the police of preferring wrong charges against his client, saying that her statement ought to have been read in court.

The police prosecutor, Mr. Steven Dickson, and the magistrate disagreed with Adonis.

But Adonis argued that reading the statement would establish that the police ought to have included attempted rape in the charge sheet.

The court then agreed that the statement should be read in open court. However, as the statement was read, the court ordered Adonis to just study it and ask his questions.

Part of the statement read in court stated that the monarch and his wife fought with Awogbamila resulting in her being admitted to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.

The statement added that the monarch sent one of her daughters, to invite Awogbamila to his house over the fight between her and his wife on April 28.

According to the statement, Awogbamila in the statement further alleged that after the monarch had excused others, he took her to a private room and attempted to rape her.

She alleged that although she escaped, the monarch tore her clothes.

Awogbamila said the monarch’s wife later joined her husband in beating her until people came to rescue her.

The court fixed further hearing to June 26.

Such a world class company has an integrity to protect. Where are Ibori's loots and many other politicians that have stashed our money out of the shores of this country?

If you hate his government that much then channel your frustrations to the right quarters. What we are interested in, is a government that will create the much needed employment which is the bane of this country.

If our politicians are doing what Peter has continued to do by attracting FDIs in Nigeria and Anambra in particular, Nigeria would have improved by now. GEJ did not make mistake when he appointed Peter Obi into his inner economic team to help drive the economy.

HNosegbe: I would have loved to see an estimate of how many jobs will be created.
Onitsha, the commercial heartbeat of Anambra State, holds the key for the future of the state and its industrialisation, Governor Peter Obi has said.

After undertaking a working tour of some multi-million naira projects in the city, including the multi-million Dollar SABMiller Brewery, Orient Drug Facilities, as well as many other facilities coming up at the Onitsha Harbour Industrial Area, Obi said the projects will help transform the state and would contribute to the industrial and economic growth of the state.

Obi, who expressed satisfaction with the state and quality of work done so in those projects so far, said the multinational companies would further expand to other areas of production that would create more job opportunities and widen the frontiers for trade and commerce.

It is estimated that SABMiller alone will create over five thousand jobs.

Conducting the governor and some top government officials around the facilities at the brewery, Project Manager of the Company, James Hull, who thanked the governor for his encouragement and interest in the company, said the installation work was on course and that various units had reached advanced level of completion with necessary safety measures.

Obi, who just arrived the country after a week visit to Germany and the United States of America, inspected many other facilities and network of roads the government is constructing within the Harbour Industrial Estate and urged local investors to take advantage of the readiness of the government to support emerging businesses in the state through the provision of necessary infrastructure to come and invest in the state.

Obi also visited the ongoing Hotel/Convention Centre at Onitsha, where he said a similar project would start at the state capital territory in few weeks.

He also inspected the site for modern shopping complex at Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka, saying that the centres were planned in response to the global shift from open and clustered market to shopping mall.

He said that the entire project would commence in few weeks time and that funding for them had already been set aside.

It was also a glorious day for three schools namely: Maranatha International School, Regina Pacis Model Secondary School, Onitsha and St. Anthony of Padua Secondary School, Nkpor, where he presented brand new 18-seater buses.

Obi said at the schools after donating the buses that the vehicles and computers donated to them are to encouraged them to pursue academic excellence, reminding them that education remained the best option for competition in the world of today.

He also awarded scholarships to two students of Regina Pacis Secondary School, Miss Theresa Mbanefo and Ogochukwu Okafor, for display of exceptional brilliance.
