Goodvibes007:What so much could government do if the society for the supposed tourism is averse to it (e.g. Moslems stoning Obatala procession in Ile-Ife, the very home of the Obatala himself)? There's need for education of the people first, I'd say. Most of our people are ignorant about the mythologies that follow the gods. E.g. Christians see them as idols. No, they are not idols, they are not carvings, they lived, and they are not worshipped per se. Practically, only their priests "worship" them. The Moslems proclaim there are no gods. "Shut it! There are gods, Gd's instruction was only to not worship them, not assign another besides". Rauf Aregbesola introduced the teaching of Odu Ifa to secondary schools, and what did the Moslems do? Condemned it and called for its abolition, even Christians. The gods were unique peoples or people with supernatural abilities or divine powers. They died, and similarly to the Jesus Christ, people continue to offer them their favorite foods (pray) in return for benefits based on the divine powers they possessed. And there are also knowledge of crafts passed through their priests. To Yoruba, """there's only Olodumare, 'Olodumare wanted to help humans and gave Ifa and the divine peoples- the ones that head picked (orisha), loosely, the divines from God, loosely, the children of God.'.""" Our people, regardless of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, atheism, whatever, if not see it as religion, should see the art in it. The intelligence, the solutions, the artistry in Ifa for one is so appreciable. Say that a tourist comes, and tells of his purpose to the Christian/Moslem receptionist at his hotel, he'd most likely meet hostility. |
HEAVEN4444:Ok, I appreciate Ifa, Ifa is like divine. While Orunmila is called a god, I don't like to liken him as one, but a wise sage, and his own place in my radar is divine. Like, he holds the same place as the father, Oduduwa. I appreciate him, it's beyond fascination. |
Oh, he's one of my favorite gods. The god of precise hunting, and also quite the path finder. Ogun, Oya, Osanyin, Osoosi, Esu Odara, and Obatala in that order are the gods of Yoruba I'm most fascinated about. One of his story was that his mother, Yemoja was behind him, and did shoot an arrow to the front, and parallel like the earth, so straight, the arrow went and shot his mother. That wasn't his intent, although, but tells the story of his straight arrow'ing and backfiring. |
ogascomax:You know in the old days... There's a community A: A big snake comes to their towns, and swallows their children, and swallows adults, it's so scary. The elders wanted peace, so they charged to the lay of the snake and made a pact with it. Each week, rather than it swallowing them in their towns, they'd bring it 2 people each week (a child an adult). Those two are brave, the elders had sought for peace, and the big snake would no longer enter their town, they sacrifice to it now. There's community B: A big snake comes to their towns, and swallows their children, and swallows adults, it's so scary. The elders wanted peace, so they brought their best men around, but they are never enough. They went to various many communities, up to 243, they explained the problem of the big snake to them, and how the big snake if uncontrolled could go to their towns the next time, and feed on their children and themselves as it continues to grow larger close to their community. After lots of lobbying, diplomacy, treaties, they got 180/243 communities to their side. Your guess on what comes next would be as good as mine. And also, Gd said specifically, humans, tame the wild beasts. And also, when Israelites coming from Egypt saw the giant humans in Canaan and were moved with fear, Gd's action to them was like ti itakun baparapo, a gbe erin (if tiny spiders come together, cooperate, they'd topple the elephant). Too long, the summary is: Succumbing to a bully (Russia) that history shows had never stopped with bullying other European countries, is all shades of community A behavior, especially as the US has the power to actually checkmate the Russia. Whatever North America or Europe or Ukraine does is actually none of my business, I'm only trying to answer your rhetoric. |
tolexy007:You could as well protest for your fellow Africans, like the Arabs protest for their fellow Arabs. |
Trump, the "peacemaker", what would be his verdict? How come these people continue to wage rather meaningless wars? Because they have guns. Who extract materials for, produce and sell them these guns? We need to deal with gun problems. And, subsequently, should people war like humans always had done, it wouldn't be as catastrophic as this. There's gun problem. |
People are still in Gaza? When are they migrating to their Egypt and Jordan? Israel should draft plan of the Gazans' movement to their ancestral lands (Egypt, Jordan), and give them ultimatum of their relocation. 500,000 people should migrate by so date, 1.5m people should migrate by so date,.. They have Hamas, they have leader, their Hamas leaders would help them negotiate their relocations, that's how it should go, not Israel baby'ing them up, helping them to their migration to their lands of ancestry (Egypt and Jordan). |
helinues:Ehn? ~25k USD/month for some top engineers and PMs. How does that compare with what this CEO earns? |
😅😅 Who chose this attire for them? So tacky, and still draws from European style with its fur, and being a robe, still. Now, that they've changed to fake still-European styled attire, when would they mandate their women to quit wearing fake European hair? |
djon78:Besides our internal development, Nigeria "needs" a stable Europe, so our policy is often to always support Europe in votes and world politics. Nigeria is friendly with Russia as well, but the benefits, the trade with Europe far outweighs that with Russia. If the rest of Europe gets into the trouble, the entire world would feel it strongly. Africa in particular would be heavily impacted by it. So Nigeria may not be non-aligned, and needs to often support Europe in world politics. It's sick, we "hate" Europe, but that's politics. |
What Israel should had done since. How could you be fighting terrorists within a territory and still letting entry of essentials to there? If the 3m+ residents were not equally guilty as the Hamas, they would had given out the terrorists dwelling amongst them. But they did not. And I recall, last year, the Gazans were fasting and Israel paused, ceased fire. Ha! How could a people be nice to those who want them dead? |
Iweakbro:Politics isn't the same as business. Governments are meant to spend without clear expectations of immediate returns or financial returns. That's politics, leadership, influence, making people's lives better and businesses to thrive. Most Americans and Republican Americans are ignorant and dullardic, you even see them shouting "our tax dollars". Money isn't independent, it comes from enabling political environment. And US owns and mints the dollars, no country could check them. But nonetheless, Trump being Putin's hypeman or lapdog? The US is playing with a potential USSR, and the US, after Eastern Europe may just be the USSR's first target cause Putin is sneaky, and the US had better fallen faster than pose a future problem to the USSR. |
Soviet Union is a joke to these new bunch of Americans. And Putin had been pursuing his Russia's USSR goal. NATO being smaller, Ukraine defeated, he'd be on track. |
Nonsense! The president has no important issues, it is flirting/harassment case between two adults he'd be pokenosing into? Like there are no national issues, it is the triviality of a undiplomatic senator a whole president would be invited to? |
This senator really needs to relax. Say the SP really harassed her or has been petty-witchhunting her over trivialities like seating arrangements, so making it a public affair to the eyes of Nigerians who expect better from senate proceedings is the correct way to go? Like the FCT senator, Ireti said, they have their diner, the senators have other meeting places and with ample meeting time, like their dining hall that she could have raised such her personal issues at, not at the senate floor, distracting over millions of electorates over her personal beefs or issues trivial. Say the SP actually harassed her, what would she want out of it? That he be impeached? Or rather an apology and billions in lawsuit claims? Joker! Anyways, the Senate's media should do better and help keep this whole travesty internally, to the Senate only. |
Huge poverty, lack of organization, and lackadaisical attitudes among people and workers ---- indiscipline. |
I guess the crew thought that if they offered the couple another seats, those seated at the front and rear may want another seats too, and potentially every other person in that section. Nonetheless, if the deceased could have made it through the door, they shouldn't had given up and actually made sure to get the corpse to the said business class. Traumatizing indeed. |
osazsky:Indians practised polyandry. Their women could marry multiple men. Of course, it's a man's world actually, and reason I said the women are either "lazy" and not fight against it, fought against it and was "defeated", or "shameless" to love sharing their supposed partners with third-parties. A man wouldn't want his partner giving even attention to another man, could be possessive, how come the woman are lax and are not? Perhaps they do not care about the man, don't care about partnership per se, only care for a man's money or to get the societal tag 'married'. And that to me is plain terrible, and unhelpful. Adam had one wife, and she was his helpmeet. ![]() |
a deal exchanging some of Ukraine's vast mineral wealth for security guarantees against future Russian attacks.A deal to exchange mineral wealth for protection? Are we back in the days of tribute collections? Pay tributes and your lands won't be invaded? Now, I have to feel for Ukrainians. Tribute collection for supposed protection is pure slavery. |
maasoap:Who are you and why should I tell you a reason? Use your head to find reason, if you have a functioning head. |
Not interested!! Shithole country with deranged peoples. |
If a man could marry more than one wife, a woman should be able to marry more than one husband. Women engaging with polygamous men are either shameless or defeated or lazy. Their husbands commiting adultery, whereas they are scorned should they do the same. Polygyny ==> fairness for all. Or monogamy ==> fairness for all. |
Ordinarily, it is government that is meant to summon him, or "sue" him same way individuals like Nnamdi Kanu are treated, but here we are. |
Anyiamaka:Well, to be a king is not easy. Through crooks and means, people obtain power. It is not by virtue that there's a crown, it is by struggle. Life is often always a battle. SW seems to exalt the strongest, that's the culture. The virtuous people too should become strong and overwhelm the crooks, that is fairness and equity. |
Himself and the tailor are both mad.😅 Dog that should be slaughtered for the god of iron/war, Ogun. |
benjaminlawson:Which Yoruba is omoluabi and which is not would be determined by Yoruba, and Yoruba only, not through some pokenose of an unrepentant Fulani terrorist -- the imp. If the thieving cum unrepentant terrorist politician wants to make something his talking point to drive his personal ambitions and pettiness, the affairs of Yoruba had better not be in his mouth. To an outsider, all Yoruba is an omoluabi, and they should get lost. |
What nonsensical comment is this from a Fulani? All Yoruba are omoluabi, imp! |
Hmmm... Perhaps the kid holding US's presidential office megalomania means aligning with Russia (the largest country in the world by landmass), and even gulping Canada, and Greenland, the bulk of the North Pole, and mega-lly act like a king ---- the fantasy of everyone in his household ---- with their large lands, huge weaponry and be so very mega. What a mega ugly fantasy. And then, a riveria, like a Florida, a retirement home for old people like itself in Israel's Gaza. Mega! Very mega-ugly! |
Yes, strive for independence, from lunatic US, Europe. |
Ondo - FMC Owo is always, every year, with Lassa fever cases. Lassa fever money: corruption of the health sector. |
What's the rationale behind people hailing corrupt politicians? Is it because of money? |
Ojuntana:Oyo got back Ilorin from the jihadists, then came Britain that foisted the offsprings of the jihadists on Ilorin - the West. |
