NO ONE FORGED MR SAHID UMAR’S SIGNATURE Over the last few hours we have read stories published a certain AgoraTVNews and also publication on Nairaland and some other blogs about the signature of Mr Sahid Umar being forged by the leadership of Alliance for New Nigeria on the certificate issued to Mr Fela Durotoye the party’s Presidential Candidate and we would like to correct the fake the news and wrong assertions in these reports. The signature on the certificate were those of the National Chairman of Alliance for New Nigeria, Mr Emmanuel Dania and the Deputy National Secretary, Mr Osita Okonkwo who has been acting in the capacity of the National Secretary since the absence and deliberate non-availability of Mr Umar who has been fingered as one of those deliberately dividing the party and working against the party’s ideologies and core principles. It will be noteworthy to establish that the party is not an individual and also the positions in all the arms of the party are not the individuals occupying those positions. Therefore, in the absence of Mr. Umar, Mr Osita has substantively been mandate by the Chairman and the BoT to continue to carry on matters relating to the secretariat of the party and such matters involving relating with the Independent National Electoral Commission and have thus far delivered effectively on this mandate. To this end, it will suffice to say that Mr Osita is the Acting National Secretary of Alliance for New Nigeria has expected and enshrined the provisions of the party’s constitution for the Deputy National Secretary to act in the absence of the National Secretary and to execute tasks assigned to his office by the National Secretary and the National Working Committee. We therefore wish to call on the publishers of these news items to be conscious of the professional ethics guiding their journalistic profession and to ensure that they publish the truth at all times and nothing but the truth. *Disclaimer!* It has come to my knowledge that there is a document being circulated as the report of a purported national convention of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), held at Ibeto Hotel on 3rd October 2018 with my name in it as a member of the new Board of Trustees (BOT) established by the so-called convention. I want to categorically state that I DID NOT attend the so-called convention and I AM NOT a party to any decisions made there. I see the inclusion of my name in the report being circulated as a deliberate attempt to mislead people into believing that I was part of it.Those who have chosen to walk the path of ignominy should be bold enough to choose from only amongst themselves. The ANN Board of Trustees in its meeting of 27th September 2018 resolved that the Presidential Primaries scheduled for 29th September as approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NEC), should hold. I and many other ANN BOT and founding members fully participated in that convention which was supervised by 4 INEC monitors officially sent by INEC. This convention is well documented with the names and faces of delegates and participants. The convention produced Mr Fela Durotye as the ANN Presidential Candidate. To set the records straight, ANN has 10 founding members who first met at the instance of Prince Adebola Adekoya to discuss and chart a course for a New Nigeria. Through several meetings, we coined the party name, adopted a logo, documented our vision and early guiding principles and appointed interim national executives. I am one of the 10 founding members, a member of the Board of Trustees and currently the BOT Chairman. All current members of the BOT are properly documented, and the records are also with INEC. The interim national working committee (NWC) was replaced by the current substantive NWC led by Mr. Emmanuel Dania through a national convention on 11th August. It is important to note that even though I openly complained about the procedures leading to that convention, I accepted its outcome and have worked cordially with the NWC it produced. That is because I am loyal to the party, its vision and its constitution. Additionally, the convention was duly supervised by INEC. While a lot of noise is being made about presidential primaries, the party was not established for the sole purpose of contesting presidential elections, but to provide a platform that will produce credible leaders – who otherwise will not be given a chance by the old parties because of what they stand for – at all levels, to birth the New Nigeria of our dreams. Besides the party’s presidential candidate, ANN also has candidates for the gubernatorial, senatorial, house of representatives and house of assembly 2019 elections, across the country. Primaries duly conducted and supervised by INEC have been going on in different states, based on the guidelines and timeline that was approved by NEC. ANN does not have any factions and our constitution is very clear on how to conduct primaries at all levels, as well as how to change or modify any of the leadership organs of the party. While it saddens me that we who should show the difference are bickering in public, I am consoled by the fact that the status quo only fights you when they see that you have the potentials to throw them out and throw them out we will! What is happening is not unexpected given the meteoric rise of ANN within a short time and the clear threat we present to old politicians who want to continue to pillage our national inheritance and mortgage the future of generations. Nothing scares the establishment more than the coming together of brilliant, credible young minds and they will not spare any tactics to attempt to scatter us. I appeal to all ANN members and Nigerians to forgive us of any mistakes we made out of naivety, that has allowed politicians take advantage and sow seeds of discord. Fortunately, majority of the founding members, BOT members, National Working Committee Members and National Executive Committee members are staying the course. We have the party constitution, INEC regulations and Nigerian law on our side. We ask that we all remain steadfast as we will come out of this stronger, wiser and more focused. The battle for the soul of Nigeria is clearly not a ride in the park, but we shall overcome!!! I thank all those who have contributed their time, resources, network and reputation to grow the party at the national and sub-national levels. ANN was created as a party for all and belongs to all of us!!! Long live ANN Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!! ANN the Difference. Dr. Nkata Chuku Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT). Alliance for New Nigeria. ANN.

The attention of the National Working Committee of Alliance for New Nigeria under the leadership of Mr. Emmanuel Dania has been drawn to a news report in tribuneonline.ng about ANN entering into a strategic alliance with some other political parties through the facilitation of Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim who has been parading himself as the elected candidate of ANN and as so entered into this alliance. As a party that believe in the principle of Transparency, Integrity and Excellence, we wish to use this medium to reiterate the following: 1. That the party Alliance for New Nigeria has only one Presidential Candidate produced during the party’s Presidential Primary and Special Convention held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 where Mr. Fela Durotoye emerged and have been duly returned and filed with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). 2. That the Alliance for New Nigeria has not entered into any strategic alliance with People’s Trust (PT) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with the intention to form a new party Alliance for People’s Trust and whoever has engaged in any discussion of this sort has done so on his own volition and without due process, approval and consent of the Board of Trustees of the Party and also its National Executive Committee. 3. That Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim was an aspirant on the platform of ANN until September 28, 2018 when he formally withdrew his participation in the party’s presidential primary that held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 and produced Mr. Fela Durotoye as its Presidential Candidate and Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim cannot continue to parade himself as the Presidential candidate of ANN and creating needless confusion. 4. That Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim equally issued press statements to the media and also published same on his Facebook page announcing his withdrawal from the primary and thus cannot be the candidate of the same party he has withdrawn from. Although he has joined forces with the former interim National Chairman of the party and have organised an illegal primary and included names of members of the BoT of ANN and founding members of the party in their claim of an expanded BoT but all of these illegalities have been refuted and disclaimed severally in the media. 5. That INEC and the Nigerian Police have been duly informed of the nefarious activities of Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim and Dr. Jay Osi Samuels which are obviously directed at causing a breakdown of public peace and causing rancour in the party and would wish to call the attention of the Inspector General of Public to these developments such that it can be nipped in the bud. 6. That both Mr. Olawepo-Hashim and Dr. Jay Osi Samuels have the freedom of association as granted them by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and can exercise this right by associating with whoever they so deem fit but should do so without involving or dragging the name of ANN into their association or alliance. 7. That only persons or group of persons mandated by the duly constituted Board of Trustees of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) can engage with anyone or group of individuals or parties on behalf of the party to pursue any of such alliance and association and where any one is under any guise engaging in any discussion of this kind, the party by the protection of the law can press charges for damages and for impersonating the party leadership. 8. That ANN would wish to advise that anyone that wish to proceed with any discussion as they deem fit should do so without involving ANN and be so advised of the repercussions of their action. Signed: Mr. Emmanuel Dania National Chairman Alliance for New Nigeria

Let's be guided please Gbenga Olawepo-Hasim is a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the People's Democratic Party. It is easier for him to be used for distortion of the Party ANN conducted it's party primaries on 29th of September, 2019. Olawepo-Hasim stepped down on 28th of September, 2019. Fela Durotoye emerged victorious with votes 240 - 7 We should all understand these political gimmick now. Once beaten let's be million times shy and extremely vigilant Nigerians should be wiser than this now

I celebrate with all citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for an interrupted 17 years of Democratic rule. It is my prayer that Jehovah/Allah would keep us in unison beyond the present and catapult us to the realm of accelerated landmark achievement in subsequent years to come (AMEN) Nigeria has made marginal differences from being under the military rule preceding 29th of May, 1999 to the present despite some challenges and hiccups we face. It is expedient that Nigerians admit that the challenges we face as a Democratic Nation are linked to the transition point we currently stand around the scheme of transition from an “Autocratic Government” to a “Democratic Government”. Hence, the implementation of the Adopted-Democratic System of Government are yet to be fully accomplished talk-less of making possible adjustment that suits our vast nation with approximately 250 ethnic and tribal groups Celebrating such a memorable day without paying tributes to the fallen heroes who had labored endlessly to ensure we became an independent nation on 1st of October 1960 would be incomplete. The list is endless but however, as a nation, we jointly appreciate you We also have the fathers of democracy who had insisted that “a government for the people by the people” was essential at a stage we got to in Nigeria. By this, I mean those who had believed that the voice of every Nigerians all across the 6 Geo-Political Zones, 36 States of the Federation 109 Senatorial Districts, 360 House of Representatives Seats and approximately 250 Ethnic Groups in Nigeria. We arise to celebrate you in unison an it is our prayers that all your labours would not be in vain as we strive to also make your effort counts in the future that beckon on us briskly The present administration of the Federal Republic of Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn-in about a year ago with a high-anticipatory spirit from all citizens who had believed that the “CHANGE” has come having voted the ruling party out of power during the first quarter of the previous year. As at the present, the administration had completed a “Democratic Year” with some visible changes A point of campaign during the last election by the present administration was the “high level of corruption” in the governmental system of our dear nation. I am bold to say that the present administration, to a large extent, had shown a zero-tolerance for corruption. For the first time in history, we heard that people in possession of the Nation’s money willingly returning it either due to fears of prosecution or whatever reason. However, many Nigerians observed the biasedness of the anti-graft war and had accused the ruling party to limiting the anti-graft war to the opposition party. I beckon on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to look into the observation of his fellow countrymen and do justice to it either by a press statement stating reason why it seemed so or by checking around him to ensure that their claims were either false or true. However, I must sincerely commend the effort of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for his great antecedents in the anti-graft war On the economy, I appreciate all Nigerians who had been placed in the helm of affairs as it regards the economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. However, I hold that the past 365 days the present administration has brought glaring and unbearable hardship on the fellow citizens of my fatherland ranging from crash in stock market to a speedy rate of inflation which Nigeria Bureau of Statistics estimated at 13.17% but the reality shows that inflation is quite over 100% as a lot of good have had their amount doubled in the past 365 days. It was reported that our GDP nose-dive to the all-time lowest in 25 years depicted by -0.36% On Security, I appreciate the Presidency and its security team for a job well-done in projecting the legacy laid down by the previous administration at the peak of its exit. Today, terrorism for no-just-cause had been reduced to the barest minimum in our nation. The strides achieved in the successful rescuing of Boko Haram victims and re-claiming of seized territories is praise-worthy On Information Dissemination from the Federal Government, high rate of disparity is been notice from information released to the public by different Federal Government key agents and this has shown that there is need for an internal briefing on policies and their effects before being announced to the public so that when the press/masses ask question from different government agents, the answers given should be unanimous and truthful from possible analysis On Treasury Single Account, the fact that we had accumulated a lot of savings from funds which would have gone out as a result of ludicrous expenses by some government parastatals and establishments cannot be doubted for any reason. I respect the President Muhammadu Buhari led Government for not thrashing this idea from the previous administration which had done a lot of benefits to accountability in our country On Niger Delta Avengers, I am sorry to say that the approach by the Federal Government to attacking their agitations which is gradually crippling the income of the country might not be ideal in a democratic system of governance. On the analysis of their reasons for agitation according to their release claimed to be sourced from their website, they have some justified reasons that should not just be thrashed by the Federal Government but rather, they should be duly considered with no selfish aim/interest. The approach of the Federal Government is a threat to the Democratic System of our Nation and the peaceful co-existence of our One-Nigeria Finally, I encourage Nigerians to put on the armor of Hope, Patience and Endurance. We voted for a “CHANGE” and then, it must also cost us. I am yet to ascertain the direction of the present administration because all their policies are so random such that it did not conform to the framework of any developed country. However, we might be on the brink of making history. I hope and wish my fellow countrymen the grace to survive through the present moments God Bless Federal Republic of Nigeria God Bless President Muhammadu Buhari God Bless Nigerians ONNI, Joseph Yusuf |
ONNI FINALLY SPEAKS ABOUT HIS POLITICAL MENTOR:The only Political Role Model I have is Thomas Sankara. Focus: The True Visionary Thomas Sankara Thomas Sankara was Burkina Faso’s president from August 1983 until his assassination on October 15, 1987. Perhaps, more than any other African president in living memory, Thomas Sankara, in four years, transformed Burkina Faso from a poor country, dependent on aid, to an economically independent and socially progressive nation. Thomas Sankara began by purging the deeply entrenched bureaucratic and institutional corruption in Burkina Faso. He slashed the salaries of ministers and sold off the fleet of exotic cars in the president’s convoy, opting instead for the cheapest brand of car available in Burkina Faso, Renault 5. His salary was $450 per month and he refused to use the air conditioning units in his office, saying that he felt guilty doing so, since very few of his country people could afford it. Thomas Sankara would not let his portrait be hung in offices and government institutions in Burkina Faso, because every Burkinabe is a Thomas Sankara, he declared. Sankara changed the name of the country from the colonially imposed Upper Volta to Burkina Faso, which means land of upright men. Thomas Sankara’s achievements are numerous and can only be summarized briefly; within the first year of his leadership, Sankara embarked on an unprecedented mass vaccination program that saw 2.5 million Burkinabe children vaccinated. From an alarming 280 deaths for every 1,000 births, infant mortality was immediately slashed to below 145 deaths per 1,000 live births. Sankara preached self-reliance, he banned the importation of several items into Burkina Faso, and encouraged the growth of the local industry. It was not long before Burkinabes were wearing 100% cotton sourced, woven and tailored in Burkina Faso. From being a net importer of food, Thomas Sankara began to aggressively promote agriculture in Burkina Faso, telling his country people to quit eating imported rice and grain from Europe, said, “let us consume what we ourselves control,” he emphasized. In less than 4 years, Burkina Faso became self-sufficient in foods production through the redistribution of lands from the hands of corrupt chiefs and land owners to local farmers, and through massive irrigation and fertilizer distribution programs. Thomas Sankara utilized various policies and government assistance to encourage Burkinabes to get education. In less than two years as a president, school attendance jumped from about 10% to a little below 25%, thus overturning the 90% illiteracy rate he met upon assumption of office. Living way ahead of his time, within 12 months of his leadership, Sankara vigorously pursued a reforestation program that saw over 10 million trees planted around the country in order to push back the encroachment of the Sahara Desert. Uncommon at the time he lived, Sankara stressed women empowerment and campaigned for the dignity of women in a traditional patriarchal society. He also employed women in several government positions and declared a day of solidarity with housewives by mandating their husbands to take on their roles for 24 hours. A personal fitness enthusiast, Sankara encouraged Burkinabes to be fitted and was regularly seen jogging unaccompanied on the streets of Ouagadougou; his waistline remained the same throughout his tenure as president. In 1987, during a meeting of African leaders under the auspices of the Organization of African Unity, Thomas Sankara tried to convince his peers to turn their backs on the debt owed western nations. According to him, “debt is a cleverly managed reconquest of Africa. It is a reconquest that turns each one of us into a financial slave.” He would not request for, nor accept aid from the west, noting that “…welfare and aid policies have only ended up disorganizing us, subjugating us, and robbing us of a sense of responsibility for our own economic, political, and cultural affairs. We chose to risk new paths to achieve greater well-being.” Thomas Sankara was a pan-Africanist who spoke out against apartheid, telling French President Jacques Chirac, during his visit to Burkina Faso, that it was wrong for him to support the apartheid government and that he must be ready to bear the consequences of his actions. Sankara’s policies and his unapologetic anti-imperialist stand made him an enemy of France, Burkina Faso’s former colonial master. He spoke truth to power fearlessly and paid with his life. Upon his assassination, his most valuable possessions were a car, a refrigerator, three guitars, motorcycles, a broken down freezer and about $400 in cash. Few young Africans have ever heard of Thomas Sankara. In reality, it is not the assassination of Thomas Sankara that has dealt a lethal blowed to Africa and Africans; it is the assassination of his memory, as manifested in the indifference to his legacy, in the lack of constant reference to his ideals and ideas by Africans, by those who know and those who should know. Among physical and mental dirt and debris lie Africa’s heroes while the younger generations search in vain for role models from among their kind. Africans have therefore, internalized self-abhorrence and the convictions of innate incapability to bring about transformation. Transformation must runs contrary to the African’s DNA, many Africans subconsciously believe. Africans are not given to celebrating their own heroes, but this must change. It is a colonial legacy that was instituted to establish the inferiority of the colonized and justify colonialism. It was a strategic policy that ensured that Africans celebrated the heroes of their colonial masters, but not that of Africa. Fifty years and counting after colonialism ended, Africa’s curriculum must now be redrafted to reflect the numerous achievements of Africans. The present generation of Africans is thirsty, searching for where to draw the moral, intellectual and spiritual courage to effect change. The waters to quench the thirst, as other continents have already established, lies fundamentally in history - in Africa’s forbears, men, women and children who experienced much of what most Africans currently experience, but who chose to toe a different path. The media, entertainment industry, civil society groups, writers, institutions and organizations must begin to search out and include African role models, case studies and examples in their contents. For Africans, the strength desperately needed for the transformation of the continent cannot be drawn from World Bank and IMF policies, from aid and assistance obtained from China, India, the United States or Europe. The strength to transform Africa lies in the foundations laid by uncommon heroes like Thomas Sankara; a man who showed Africa and the world that with a single minded pursuit of purpose, the worst can be made the best, and in record time too. Improper Acts of the School Management The Students Union Government of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun writes to you to appeal for your immediate interference in the incessant and Sessional School Charge Hike currently going on in Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun. The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun is the first Petroleum University in Africa and the Sixth of its kind in the World. She is reported to be seriously undergoing challenges of surviving with the Cost of Maintenance and Development as stated by the Management of the University. Hence, the Management of the University feels that one of the way to combat this challenge is by hiking the facilities they do not offer and students have been paying for every session. The Union strongly frowns at this act which had always present it to the FUPRE Students Community as a weak body. The Union holds that with the paradigm that the University is moving, chances of an Average Nigerian getting education at the University becomes thinner. Of what essence is the University in the country if students from country of residence cannot benefit the dividend of the largest source of revenue to the Federal Government of Nigeria? The Union even hold that instead of the hike beyond affordability of the Average Nigerian Students, the students ought to receive special packages for rendering themselves available for the benefit of the country since their education is tended towards raising manpower for the survival of the petroleum industry of the country Attached to this letter is a 5-Session School Charges Breakdown and Their Sessional Rate of Inflation. From the attached document as stated above, it indicates that last session School Charges reflected a 103.78% inflation for fresh students and 59.57% inflation for returning students. The Students protested this sudden inflation in a Federal University but little or no attention was paid to the voices of the Students. The Students were forced to resume when it seems no intervention was coming from anywhere. The forceful resumption launched into seasons of dropout of some returning students and the forfeiting of admission of some fresh students. Despite the hike in fee, the University Utilities paid for “dearly” by the students were rendered inefficiently while others were not rendered at all. Due to the challenge of survival of the students during the Academic Session alongside some other unnecessary charges after a huge inflation, the students were expecting a drop in school charges but the reverse was the case The Management smartly outplayed the Students Union in the decision of the School Charges and released an impromptu Academic Calendar mandating new students to resume just three weeks after conclusion of previous sessions examination (7th of December, 2015) with a 28.99% inflation of the previous session’s fee. The Academic Session also mandated Returning Students to resume immediately after the New Year with a discriminating fee distinguishing the 200Level Returning Students from other Returning Students even though the service rendered to both parties is the same. The Students’ Union pushed for a dialogue with the Management and after relentless defense of the need for fee reduction rather than inflation, the Management of the University reduced the fee insignificantly and commenced clearance of the fresh students without seeking the opinion of the Students Union on the insignificantly reduced School Charges. The Prayers of the Students’ Union 1. The Union holds that the 2014/2015 Academic Session is yet to be concluded because most of the Final Year Students of the Academic Session are yet to defend their project. Resumption now would mean that they would be ejected from the Hall of Residence (which they paid a 200% charge hike for). The Union would not be happy with this act and might be forced to embark on fierce defensive war with the school 2. The Union holds that the Management should not burden the struggling Nigerian Students amidst Economic Downcrash and Challenges. Hence, the Management should return all the School Charges back to status-quo before Friday, 18th of December, 2015 or the Staffs do not bother to resume on Monday, 21st of December, 2015 because once we kick-off demonstration, we would halt all administrative activities for a minimum of one-month even if the Management adjust the fee along the demonstration. This would also imply that the Federal Government can use the staff salaries between December 2015 – January 2016 for other National Development Activities (No Work, No Pay – He who does keep his workplace in order does not deserve the benefit that those who kept their in order get) 3. The Union further holds that the previous hike of the 2014/2015 Academic Session reflecting 103.78% inflation for fresh students and 59.57% inflation for returning students should stand for a minimum of 10-Academic Sessions before any consideration for inflation or reduction (which should also be subject to the consultation of the Students Union) ONNI, Joseph Yusuf For: The Presidency Students Union Government Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun |
Tribalism has been a major problem to the development of our nation and our community. A Nation divided against herself will not be able to develop as it ought to be. Such is the present case of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which is currently having an adverse effect on the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun. Federal University of Petroleum Resources is the first of its kind in Africa and the sixth of its kind in the world. It is a school aimed at training students on better ways to harness and efficiently utilize the greatest God-given Natural Resources of Nigeria. With my description above, a reader should easily conclude that Federal University of Petroleum Resources should be the best university in Nigeria but you and I know that the reverse is presently the case. In fact, as a reader, you might be hearing the name of this school for the first time. Delta State seems to be one of the biggest oil-producing states in Nigeria. As a result, propositions were made that it should harbor this great institution despite great competitions by other geopolitical zones in Nigeria. Since 2007 that the school started, it cannot even boast of 10 sound buildings, Engineering Workshops, Comfortable Hostel to cater for its students (less than 2000 students), COREN’s accreditation, PTDF recognition, Federal Government Recognition, World Class learning environment and lots more that it deserve. The school has faced so many challenges and it took a bold step by students in 2011 by protesting to get a 2-year NUC accreditation. A rapid recent development occurred in the school immediately after NUC sent their representative, Prof. Al-Hassan Lawal Bichi to oversee the administration of the school. Shortly, tribalism sets in again, the Urhobo’s requested for an indigenous leader for the university. This threw the university into moment of seeking for a suitable Vice-Chancellor. Thank God for the efforts of Senator Bamanga (The Pro-Chancellor) and his team for the successful but tedious search to fulfill their requirement. Location of this kind of university should be in a welcoming community. The Ugbomro community has not been so welcoming to the students and the entire school. The community youths have met students while on their duty as students to injure and extort them of the little provision made by their parents/guardians. In addition to these, students have been robbed in their apartment. This same set of youths, involved in these evil acts arose and locked the gates of the school which lead to an obstruction of the ongoing examinations. The reason for these act was because there was no member of the community (even when they are not qualified) in the recently employed staffs of the school. The struggle for the school to meet up with the general academic calendar was also interrupted. Currently, many members of the community are working as cleaners, security, administrative officer etc but these youths didn’t consider these before their actions. Only the qualified should get the job. Delta State Government has failed to cater for its youth and this has resulted into great problem for the school in the community. I hereby call on the government of Delta States and Ministry of Youth empowerment (if there be any) to look into these issues and correct them. Niger-Delta Development Commission, I also charge you to put up plans to check into the agony of these youth because they are surely causing more havoc to the development of Federal Republic of Nigeria than any good they might be doing Now, to the Federal Government of Nigeria, this school offers one of the courses that the federal government spends money on yearly for distant learning (Marine Engineering) but the Federal Government has not considered strengthening this school to offer the course in world-class standard but rather, they prefer spending the money abroad (Underutilization of Resources). With respect to this point of view, it is either the Federal Government is not aware about the school or they do not care about the school To the Ministry of Petroleum, I believe you should be responsible for drawing the attention of the Federal Government to this school but nothing as such has been heard. Even Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) do not recognize the school As far as I am concerned, it takes the Federal Government less than six (6) months to equip this school to meet up to the World Class Standard. I hereby charge the Honorable President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan), The Honorable Minister of Education, The Honorable Minister of Petroleum (Dr. Allison Diezani-Madueke) to arise to these issues and resolve it on time. I weep not only for myself but for the future of every Nigerian youth. The Students of Federal University of Petroleum Resources have been trained under the platform of Excellence and Relevance and it is reflecting in their lifestyle as they have not launched a revenge blow despite the wickedness meted on them and their school by the youths of Ugbomro community. I plead with all those involved to act fast Yours in the Service of my Fatherland ONNI, Joseph Yusuf |
