THINK WITH ME?

These truths don’t appear to fit together. Can you help me reconcile them together?

Please do NOT give me pat answers, or answers you’ve been taught but you haven’t yet considered well for yourselves. Thanks. I have enough of those already; they haven't helped.

What has Holy Spirit shown you about how these verses work together? Or maybe what is Holy Spirit showing you now as you think about these?

1. Fear God: “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” [Ecclesiastes 12:13] (There are literally hundreds of other verses talking about fearing God.)

2. God is love: “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” [1 John 4:8] (Scores of other verses announcing that God is love. Specifically, God is AGAPE love.) (“'Agape' is a word in the Greek for love. Not infatuation, kind of romantic love, but love that is “other-centered, self-giving, co-suffering.”)

3. There is no fear in love, or at least in Agape love. “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” [1 John 4:18]

4. Agape love keeps no record of wrongs. “It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” [1 Corinthians 13:5]

5. We are to love God. (We DO love God.) Agape love. “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.” [1 John 5:2]

I have questions.

• If love keeps no record of wrongs, then God – who IS love – keeps no record of wrongs. That’s what it says.

• If that’s true, then what is judgment [see Revelation 20, Matthew 25] all about? Is he keeping record of wrongs or not?

• If there is no fear in (agape) love, then where does the fear of God come in? Where does the fear of judgment come in?

And I say again, please keep your pat answers to yourself. Those don’t help us think this through. But I am very much interested in your thoughts on the matter.

When you think of St. Patrick’s Day, you probably think of crowds of jovial people wearing green. It’s a day when even those who have even the smallest drop of Irish blood seem to develop an unmistakable brogue.

However, despite the revelry and the abundance of green that comes every March 17, there is actually a more serious reason for celebrating St. Patrick. Sure, we all might have heard about the driving of the snakes out of Ireland, but did you know that St. Patrick is also considered the patron saint of engineers?

Who Was St. Patrick?

The actual details of St. Patrick’s life are somewhat murky—and over several thousand years of retelling, the details have undoubtedly been embellished or forgotten. But the most accepted version of events is that the man who was to become St. Patrick was born in what is now Scotland in the late fourth century AD. His father was a deacon in the Christian church, which at that time was widely accepted throughout Britain.

In his adult life, St. Patrick worked to spread Christianity throughout the British Isles. As part of this mission, he built churches—including the first churches in Ireland, as a matter of fact. Before his arrival in Ireland, builders used a dry masonry technique that involved stacking flat stones on top of each other, gradually overlapping the stones to enclose the walls.

St. Patrick, however, was familiar with more Romanized forms of architecture, including the use of lime mortar. It’s also believed that he introduced the concept of arches to Irish builders, giving them the knowledge they needed to build the traditional stone churches that still dot the Irish countryside today. Because of this, the Catholic church has deemed him the patron saint of engineers.

Celebrating St. Patrick, the Engineer

St. Patrick is usually represented in imagery with a serpent or snakes around his feet, referring to the legend of his driving the snakes out of Ireland with his shillelagh, a type of cane, as punishment for attacking him during a fast. Typically, his role in engineering and modernizing building methods isn’t celebrated on St. Patrick’s Day. At some engineering-focused academic institutions, however, his engineering legacy lives on. At Missouri University of Science and Technology, for instance, self-styled “Knights of St. Patrick” among the engineering faculty are well-known for celebrating his accomplishments through a series of traditions during the week of St. Patrick’s Day.

So, the next time you don your finest green attire in honor of St. Patrick, give a nod to his engineering accomplishments as well.

John the Baptist was aware, perhaps more than most people, that Jesus’ mandate (in Luke 4) included the anointing “To proclaim liberty to the captive...”.

But by Luke 7, John was himself a captive, a political prisoner rotting in a Roman jail, who presumably wanted his freedom. So he sent some boys ’round to ask Jesus, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”

Jesus let them watch his ministry for a while, and then replied, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.” In other words, “Yeah, I’m the one.”

And then he adds the kicker. He says to tell John, “And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

And then Jesus expounds for fourteen verses – this is a pretty long speech for Him – on who John is, and why he’s awesome. “…there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist.” That’s pretty high praise from the Incarnate Son of God.

One of the greatest offenses we can ever experience is “Why does it happen for them, but not for me?” It’s not hard to get discouraged in those circumstances. It’s hard NOT to be offended. John was offended: Jesus’ cousin, and the prophet sent to announce him. If the greatest prophet in the world got offended, it’s possible that it happens to more people than admit of it.

It’s hard not to see someone else get healed of something that you’ve been asking for healing of. It’s difficult not to be jealous when someone else gets the financial breakthrough that you need so desperately.

And it’s almost impossible (almost, but not quite) to not be offended when the promises that God has declared for you sit there, unfulfilled, despite your best efforts, despite your faithfulness, despite the fact that you have personally prepared the way for that other person that got the fulfillment of YOUR prophecy!

It’s so easy to be offended because of Jesus, especially when he does things that are different than you think he ought to do. When he does things in different ways, with different people, than you think he ought.

And then he adds the kicker. He says to us, “And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” Our blessing comes from avoiding that offense.

Said another way, being offended hinders our being blessed. One of the greatest hindrances to my promises being fulfilled is when I’m jealous of others’ blessings.

If my reaction to someone else getting a large amount of cash is to wish that it happened to me, then I am, by that offense, hindering God’s blessing in my own life.

If my response to your newfound ministry is to wish that it had come to me (“instead of to you,” or “as well as to you,” it doesn’t matter), then I’m hindering my own release. I’m demonstrating that I cannot yet “rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15), and therefore I’m not yet ready to be trusted with that blessing.

If I can rejoice with others, weep with others, without thinking of myself before I think of them, then I’m getting past being offended with Him.

Fundamentally, if I see your blessing and I think of my lack, that’s a manifestation of self-centeredness. If I see your sorrow, and I breathe a sigh of relief, that’s a manifestation of self-centeredness.

I suspect that Father is breathing on that verse right now: “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” (Romans 12:15)

If we want to keep up with what he’s doing, if we want to be part of what he’s doing, we’ll want to avoid being offended by Him, and rejoice – or weep – with others.

I was praying for divine provision when someone sent me a message, 'your account details please'.

Since I didn't know the person, I asked some questions and he said he felt it urgently in his spirit to do so.

I sensed something wrong but couldn't pick what it was but I sent it.

When the money came in, he called and told me he wanted me to help him curse someone.

He heard from someone how God's word never fell to the ground from my mouth.

He wants me to use the same authority to curse the person who duped him and his pastor.

I paused and told him, I won't, he can send his details for him to have the money back.

He thought I was angry and started begging me but I said his motive for the seed is wrong.

Well, God used him to meet my needs.

The next day the man who duped them came begging with their money with extra, someone was beating and commanding him to return all he stole.

His seed did the work, my prayers for provision got answered.

We both got answers to our prayers.

America still believes in the Nigerian church and they invited our own in their presidential inauguration but content creators who are begging for followers comes online to tell you that they have given up on Nigerian church and you are taking them seriously...

Politicians embezzle money meant for roads, salaries, medical care. They know these politicians but they leave them and start blaming the church for poverty in Nigeria...

They say America, Europe and Asia don't pray but Nigerian church prays yet we are poor... Do they not know that in these countries, financial corruption has life jail or death as penalties?

I stop taking you seriously the moment I hear you making such childish comparisons... Americans, Europeans, Chinese, Emirates don't steal from public coffers because they are nice people, but because they are afraid of consequences..

That is why they all rush to feast from the continent of Africa, where they partner with the powerful guys among us to manipulate consequences...

Have you not heard about the allegedly dirty roles of China, UAE, America, Belgium, France etc in the mineral resources theft going on in The Congo, through Rwanda and many other dirty deals going on in African countries...

They are saints in their countries but to Africa they are economic vultures and scavengers who sponsor all kinds of executive corruptions ... And incase, any African leader refuses to dance to their greedy tunes, he will live all his life in power afraid of assassination, coup or internal insurrections.

But if you accept to be on bed with them, they can allow you to keep ruling even if you are 100years... How dare you look at your oppressors and call them saints?...

I am living in Brussels, less than 10 minutes from EU headquarters where they make the laws that keep Europe stronger but make Africa weaker. That is why the first thing to do to lose my respect is to blame the church in Nigeria for the underdevelopment caused by politicians who have embezzled public funds...

China just executed one of their former leaders for financial corruption. The former French president is still in court for the financial misappropriation, traced as far back as Gaddafi days...

But your former governor who didn't pay pensioners and workers salaries for years; who stole all the money meant to build roads and hospitals are still among the senators, rigged in through INEC to represent the same constituencies they have been stealing from...

Where is hope in such country? And yet, people have the guts to say that the church is the problem of Nigeria...

If we all stop attending night vigils and start looking for night shift jobs, please, where are the jobs? Which factories are we going to work when one governor has used the money meant to build factories to buy uncountable towers in Dubai and America?

Please, this year, if you meet a false prophet, deal with him and leave the church in Nigeria alone...

Let nobody come to your space this year and see you promoting contents of people who claim they love the church but are ignorantly demarketting the works of God among us... Some of them are not aware that they are manifesting illiteracy... While others are manifesting inner bitterness and disappointment you know nothing about...

It is not everyone that loves Jesus today that will continue with Him tomorrow, according to scripture... While we keep interceding for them and showing love, but don't let them blackmail the church around you...

The church in Nigeria is not the problem... They are only aligning with the wrong lines of prophecies...

Yes, there are some works to be done, but trust me, it is too late for God to abandone the Nigerian church... If truly Jesus is the hope of the world, then, it means that the Nigerian church is the hope of the world...

Where else can God find young men and women who are ready to waste for Him as He can find them in Nigeria?
We don't have jobs yet we have joy...
We are victims of our government yet, we depend on the government of Jesus...

No food.. No home... No hope, yet, we refuse to cast away our confidence in God because we believe that it has great recompense...

When you meet Nigerian Christians abroad, you will know the difference.. They might not be perfect, but, in their zeal you will know that God has already started a story with them...

Why would Satan not try to use evil politicians in government to frustrate Nigerians since he knows that God is depending on them for this end time harvest?...

This same Nigerian church that have been mocked by every content creator will soon become useful in the Hand of our Creator...

A time is coming when it will be difficult to do anything in the world if Nigerian church is not represented... How you feel about this doesn't matter...

Whatever took Nathaniel Bassey and Pst Kumuyi to the inauguration of the president of almighty America means that the glory of the Nigerian church has begun...

Me, I have taken my place... I know many wise people who have also taken their place... Soon, the world will soon begin to pay attention to the Nigerian church...

If I were you, I will take my place too...

During My family Bible study yesterday we came across this scripture.

Can I still port it now,

A prophet once said to me "if you didn't attend church in the 80s you probably haven't attended church" with all my rhema and encounters I quickly refused that assumption in my heart.

As a child born in the 80's I can tell a bit of how church looked like about 30yrs ago.

1. The messages were simple, and basically uniform across denominations, instrumentalist were the ones paying dues to church, church pays no worker.

2. It was difficult to attach a Christian to a denomination. Believers were just Believers. the Christian dressings were nearly homogeneous spatially. Catholic Church was for watch-night, deeper life was for retreats.

3. There were various doctrines but very little arguments about thee bible.

4. If someone tells you I am Christian you won't have to ask if he is born again, this is why the old church hardly do alter call expect for crusades where they belive sinners gather.

6. Prayer meetings were long, and tongues weren't common, so we could pray 9hrs in English, no keyboard no worship in prayer meetings after praise and worship. Today if I give prayer point in church they start the prayer in tongues or they start by singing.

7. Every car in the church belongs to everyone in the church...

8. You will need permission to be absent from Sunday service. If you miss church half the member of the church will be at your home after service

9. There was a general assumption that every Christian girl is a virgin, that's why the church wasn't conducting pregnancy test.

10. If someone says "Lord Jesus come into my life" he/she meant it.

11.Once saved Forever saved wasn't a debate. Because if you're saved it means you are saved. As long as the church was concerned if you smoke, drink, lie and above all fornicate you're not saved. If a believer fornicate it is assumed he fell, he has to confess publicly, prayed for publicly serve the punishment and restored publicly.

12. There was always Sunday school on Sunday.

Finally brethren be warned, that spiritual growth you are experiencing might be a sign of backsliding. That fire you are burning with might be a strange fire. That prayer meetings you are hosting might be an abomination unto God. That rhema you think you have might be blasphemy.
