6 Things That Can Increase Your Risk Of Having Fibroid

A uterine fibroid is a non-cancerous growth in a woman's uterus (womb) and it often appears during child bearing years.

They can cause symptoms such as excessive menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and frequent urination. They may require emergency treatment if these symptoms appears suddenly.

As many as 3 out of 4 women have uterine fibroids some time during their lives, but most are unaware of them because they often show no symptoms. Women of African descent are two to three times more likely to develop fibroids than women of other races.

The causes of uterine fibroids are not well known. Fibroids tend to run in families, and affect women who have a family history of fibroids.

The 6 things that can increase your risk of having fibroid are:

1.    Hormones. Fibroids grow in response to stimulation by the hormones 'Estrogen' and 'Progesterone'. These are two hormones that stimulate development of the uterine lining during each menstrual cycle in preparation for pregnancy.

2.    Weight: Obesity is also known to increases the chances of developing fibroids.

3.    Hereditary: If your mother or sister had fibroids, you're at increased risk of also developing them
4.    Race: African heritage (occurring 3-9 times more often than in Caucasian women)
5.    Pregnancy: Pregnancy and childbirth seem to have a protective effect and may decrease your risk of developing uterine fibroids.

6.    Menstruation: Onset of the menstrual period prior to age 10 will increase ones risk of developing fibroids.

Health / Re: 7 Things That Can Cause Low Sperm Count by onyii2013: 4:22pm On Apr 07, 2013
Well, its true that excessive ejaculation, as well as not ejaculating at all for a long period affects sperm quality negatively.
However, frequent ejaculation, say at least three times a week is said to improve the quality of sperm.
I really don't think it has anything to do with premarital sex.

Health / Addiction To Indecency May Lead To Impotence (Erectile Dysfunction) by onyii2013: 2:19pm On Apr 07, 2013
Are you addicted to porn? Then it may affect your health.

Pornography is considered a ravenous cancer destroying modern society, when viewed from moral and religious standpoints.

Pornography no longer has to be viewed in steamy theaters or bought at an adult bookstore; the internet is useful place. Porn on the web is accessible, affordable, and anonymous. Accessibility allows small children as well as adults to view such images.

Some surveys have been carried out to ascertain whether or not pornography has any negative consequence on people who practice it. The result of such studies have been mixed; while some studies report no or minimal negative effect, others report severe consequences.

For those who suggest that porn addiction has severe consequences, the chief danger from porn has much to do with sex directly. It comes from the effect of intense stimulation on the reward circuitry of the brain. This is the part of the brain which plays major role in driving our behaviors, addictions, as well the regulation of neurochemical dopamine in these processes.

Usually since addiction to porn is strongly linked to indulgence in masturbation, there are suggestions that the individuals involved usually have ailing relationships. More of the time that is meant to be spent with their partners are spent on pornography, neglecting their partners and also not able to sexually satisfy them.

Also a large Italian survey showed a link between porn addiction and erectile dysfunction (impotence). Most men are astonished to learn that pornography use can be a source of sexual performance problems.

To support this fact, it is shown that 70% of the young men seeking clinical help for sexual performance problems had been using internet pornography habitually.Ususally, a series of events occur that eventually leads to erectile dysfunction.

7 Things That Can Cause Low Sperm Count

Several factors can affect the quality of sperm and thereby affect the sperm count of an individual. When sperm count gets below a certain level, the individual will not be able to father a child.

These factors may include the following: (source-www.nobledoctors.com)

Tight Trousers and Under-Wear: It has been suggested that all these kinds of wears adversely affect sperm quality, and therefore fertility. Sperm cells are heat-sensitive, and cannot endure high temperatures.

Laptops: It is known that the Testes function most effectively at slightly cooler than the core body temperature. Placement of a laptop computer on the laps for extended use has been shown to affect the quality of sperm.

Hot Tubs: Frequent use of hot tubs may lower sperm counts. This is attributed to the negative effect of heat on sperm production.

Health / 7 Ways To Handle Menstrual Pain (dysmenorrhea) by onyii2013: 11:57pm On Apr 06, 2013
Menstrual pain causes serious discomfort for many women.

Seven ways to handle menstrual pain include: (source www.nobledoctors.com)

Analgesics (painkillers): The drugs in this group are very effective for treating menstrual pain and discomfort. This could include paracetamol, naproxen, ibuprofen and aspirin. They block the action of prostaglandin which is the main culprit in menstrual pain.

Contraceptives: oral contraceptives often bring relief to menstrual pain. They are said to suppress the synthesis of prostaglandins, and therefore limits the contraction of the uterus.

Exercise: Mild to moderate exercise helps reduce the level of discomfort and pain experienced by women with menstrual pain.

Relaxation techniques: different relaxing methods such as breathing exercises, massage and medication could help in relieving pain during menstruation.

Hot water bottle: holding a hot water bottle against the abdomen may help in reducing discomfort.

Oral supplements: Omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, vitamin E, and vitamin B1 (thiamine) supplements have been indicated as effective in treating menstrual pain.

Warm bath: Apart from helping the person relax, a warm bath may also provide some pain/discomfort relief
