There’s breaking news that over 30 persons allegedly died early hours today [November 2, 2013] at the Holy Ghost Adoration Ground after All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] started campaigning at the prayer house.
The Holy Ghost Adoration Ground which is located at Uke town in Anambra State is one of the biggest Catholic prayer groups in Anambra State officiated and managed by Fr. Obimma (Ebube Muonso).

According to reports, Gov Peter Obi, Willie Obiano and the APGA team had entered the ground to campaign but when the audience opposed them, his people rushed the crowd, beating women and
some men like babies.

This reportedly caused a stampede that eventually got a lot of worshippers injured. At the end of the stampede, over 28 corpses were seen littered on the grounds. An estimate of over 200 were injured. A large percent of the dead and injured are believed to be Ngige supporters.

It was gathered that some rich kids in Abuja pull all kinds of stunts with their very expensive cars on Sundays till the tyres catch fire.

They derive pleasure in racing to beat each other for the prize of the fastest driver.

Usually, this is done around the central mosque, Abuja central area, Ceddi plaza and sometimes in front of Nicon plaza too.

A passenger bus caught fire few hours ago at the popular Ojodu/Berger terminal of LAGBUS. Scared passengers took to their heels in panic after a bus which had just driven into the station suddenly burst into flames.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, reports that the commuters fled in different directions when flames erupted under the front wheels of the bus with registration no: XP 962 AKD.

The driver, simply identified as Amuda, and other officials of the LAGBUS Asset Management Company, operators of the buses, however, were able to promptly bring the fire under control.

A commuter, Mr. Oyewole Kayode, told NAN that some friction on the brake linings may have caused the fire.

Kayode, who claimed to be a technician, lauded the officials for putting out the fire, without any causality.

He described the situation as unfortunate, saying it could have happened to anyone.

Twenty-five students and two teachers of Ogba Junior Grammar School in Ogba, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, were yesterday evening rushed to a hospital after they inhaled emission from a toxic chemical.

It was gathered that the unconscious students and teachers were immediately rushed to Blue Cross Hospital, located opposite the shopping mall for urgent medical attention.


A medical doctor at the hospital declined to comment on the condition of the students and teachers. Two of the affected female students whose condition was critical were transferred in a Lagos State Emergency Ambulance marked LA 156 A08 to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, in Ikeja.

P.M.NEWS learnt that at about 12 noon, the students and teachers were in the school when they began to feel dizzy and collapsed after inhaling the emission from chemical spread to their school premises by air.

Following the incident, some of the teachers raised an alarm which attracted some members of the public, who immediately called officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency on their toll free lines.

One of the officials of LASEMA told P.M.NEWS that the gas emission was traced to Bizcircuit Colour Laboratory, located within the premises of Ogba Shopping Mall just at the back of the school. According to the official, the chemical in the lab may have expired.

Speaking on the incident, Femi Giwa, Head of Logistics for LASEMA said that it was not an explosive as some members of the public were saying, but an emission, which was immediately traced to the lab, after carrying out an emergency assessment of the entire place.

Security agents comprising the police, NSCDC officials, and LASEMA officials cordoned off the entire area to prevent people from gaining access to the school and the shopping mall.

Desperate to halt a probe into his finances, governor James Ibori tried to bribe former anti-corruption boss Nuhu Ribadu in 2007 with $15 million in cash in a bag so heavy one man alone could not lift it, Ribadu told a London court on Thursday.

Ribadu said he pretended to take the bribe because he wanted the cash as evidence to use against Ibori in a prosecution, but rather than keep the money for himself he had it taken straight to the Central Bank of Nigeria to be kept safe in a vault. Continue..

Ribadu told the court that about $1 billion flowed from federal government accounts into Delta State coffers during Ibori’s eight years in power, and he estimated Ibori had stolen or wasted more than half of that amount.

The charges to which Ibori pleaded guilty amount to the theft of about $80 million, but British prosecutors say that was only part of his total booty, which was kept hidden via a complex web of shell companies, offshore accounts and front men.

Ribadu, who was chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from April 2003 to December 2007, was giving evidence at a confiscation hearing in which prosecutors are seeking court orders to have Ibori’s assets seized.

Under Nigeria’s constitution, state governors enjoy immunity from prosecution but are limited to two terms in office. With the end of his second term looming in April 2007, Ibori was worried the EFCC were planning to prosecute him, Ribadu said.

“He was very desperate to terminate the investigation,” he told the court.
In late April 2007, a meeting was arranged between the two men at a “neutral place”, the house of Andy Uba, a close associate of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Ibori arrived at the house with several members of his staff and a very large black sack containing $15 million in cash. Ribadu said he watched as two of Ibori’s men lifted the heavy sack and handed it over to his own EFCC staff. “It was a bag that an individual could not carry alone,” he said.

The EFCC men drove the bag to the central bank where the money was counted and boxed into smaller containers. The court was shown photographs of the boxes of cash.

“I have given you money Nuhu, just give me my clearance,” Ribadu quoted Ibori as telling him after those events.

Instead, the EFCC continued to investigate Ibori’s affairs and had him arrested on corruption charges on December 12, 2007.

It will be recalled that the Delta state government had approached the court asking that the money belonged to the state government and should therefore be returned to the state. The EFCC are however opposed to the return of the money to the state.

The EFCC says that “that the said sum of $15 Million cannot be traced to any account owned or being operated by the Delta State Government or any of its agencies and officials”.

A Saudi businessman is said to have sold a goat for $3.46 million for another business man who was interested in itA local newspaper, Okaz reported that the sale of the animal for 13 million Saudi riyals ($3.46 million) has caused a stir on social media.

Websites have published images of the multimillion-goat and the cheque that sealed the deal. Experts interested in goat trading said the animal had unique features and is a rare breed.

The urge to masturbate is a natural one and as adolescents, it signifies an interest in sex before embarking on adult sexual relationships. But when it becomes an obsession, or a reason you hate yourself, then it is time to cut down on the self serving.
Follow these 5 steps to help you quit;
1. Stop punishing yourself. Remember, you're human. Humans make mistakes, and they have sexual urges. Neither of these things makes you a bad person. Resist the urge of sinking into despair by remembering the times spent feeling sorry for yourself when it could have been spent relinquishing your addiction.
2. Remove anything that tempts your urge to masturbate. Like access to pornographic materials etc. Also, if you notice you get the urge to masturbate at certain times of the day, try to keep busy with other things at those time. You could try exercising as this will give you a release and leave you too exhausted to do much else. If you masturbate frequently because you feel lonely, find ways to limit your solitude. For instance, instead of watching the match at home by yourself, watch it at a sports bar. Even if you're not hanging out with friends, you will not be alone, ultimately having no time for masturbation.
3. Find another outlet: Find another outlet for your time and energy. Fill your life with engaging activities. The excitement of doing something different can help replace the urge to masturbate, and you'll have a go-to distraction next time you're tempted. Try some of these options:
Get creative. The process of turning sexual urges into creative output (called sublimation) is something on which monks and sages have relied upon for centuries. Start writing, learn to play a musical instrument, paint, draw, or do whatever else makes you feel like you're doing something productive.
Do sports. It takes discipline and persistence to excel at a sport. Develop an interest like running or swimming, or a group sport like soccer, football, basketball, or tennis.
Eat healthy. Fruits and vegetables have healthy effects on the body and provide nutrients necessary to increase your energy to be more active throughout the day.
Find a new hobby, or cultivate a skill. Learning something that takes a while to master can refocus your brain on the delayed gratification of achieving goals instead of the instant gratification of masturbation. Try skills like cooking, woodshop, archery, baking, public speaking, or gardening.
[b]4. Be persistent and patient. [/b]Stopping a masturbation addiction won't hit you like a lightning bolt. It's a process that requires commitment, and you might make mistakes or relapse on occasions. The real struggle is persevering, so commit now that you won't let little mistakes stand in your way. You can try setting up a reward system. Bribe yourself to stay on-track with rewards for good behavior. For instance, if you can go two whole weeks without masturbating once, treat yourself by doing something else you love.
[b]5 Seek help: [/b]If you've tried everything and just can't seem to get your addiction under control, it might be time to tell someone else about your problem and ask for assistance. Don't feel ashamed, and remember that many people have similar problems like an addiction. Seeking help is a brave action, and most people you ask will see it as such.
Ask your religious leader for guidance. If you belong to a church, consider asking your local clergy for help. Keep three things in mind: First, these people become part of the clergy because they're dedicated to helping their congregations. Second, they've probably already assisted someone with a masturbation addiction before. Lastly, they're bound by strict confidentiality. Request a private appointment with your pastor, bishop, imam, rabbi, or other religious leader, and see if his or her advice can help you.

Tension and panic yesterday gripped Warri, a major town in Delta State, as hundreds of irate youths seized the palace of the Olu of Warri, Atuwatse II. The more than 500 youths said they came out to protest against alleged clandestine moves by the monarch and others to change the only recognized ancient title of “Ogiame” that represents the symbol of the Iwere Kingdom of Warri. According to some of the protesters, the traditional ruler recently issued a contentious document titled “The New Order of Iwere Kingdom.” They said the document outlined a proposal to expunge the “Ogiame” title since the kingdom had been consecrated to God. One protesting youth told SaharaReporters that the move amounted to a desecration of a title that has been in existence for more than 500 years.

The protesters set a huge bonfire outside the gate of the palace, disrupting social and economic activities as well as vehicular movement in the area. A security official told SaharaReporters that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who was scheduled to pay a visit to Warri, scratched the visit once he got wind of the crisis. The source disclosed that the governor’s security personnel, press crew and other government officials had earlier arrived in Warri in preparation for his aborted trip. One of the government officials on the governor’s advance team told SaharaReporters that Mr. Uduaghan abandoned his plan to visit to avoid being linked to the crisis.

“His Excellency had planned to visit to Warri to spend the weekend and attend to some state matters, but he doesn’t want to be dragged into the traditional crisis,” the official stated. He added, “We all know that the [traditional] title has been in existence and the governor doesn’t wish to be involved in changing it. So immediately he got wind of the disturbance in Warri concerning the issue, he decided to put off his visit.”

The protesting youths vowed to resist any gimmicks employed to change the traditional title, adding that the traditional ruler was unacceptable to the Itsekiri people. One of the protesters, who simply identified himself as Ayo, stated, “Ogiame simply means ‘King of the River.’”

An elderly Itsekiri chief told SaharaReporters that he was supported the youths’ rejection of the embattled traditional ruler’s plan to dump a title that has lasted five centuries. He said the monarch had recently converted to Christianity, renounced allegiance to the “Umalokun” and other gods of the sea, land and sky, and denounced the “Ogiame” title.

SaharaReporters learnt that, after a recent decision to become a born-again Christian, the traditional ruler renounced all “acts of idolatry within his kingdom and sanctified the land in the name of Jesus Christ.”

SaharaReporters obtained a copy of the document issued by the ruler turned Christian convert. In it, he proclaimed, “Henceforth, I submit and present the title ‘Ogiame’ to God, the creator, who made the sea and rules over all. Therefore, no Olu or person may bear the title or name that now belongs to God.” He added: “I nullify all tokens of libation poured on the land and seas or sprinkled into the air in Iwere land. I frustrate all sacrifices of wine, blood, food, water, kola nuts, and other items (known and unknown) offered in Iwere land.

“In conformity with the new covenant through the blood of Jesus, I release the royal bloodline, the chiefs of the Iwere kingdom, the Iwere people and land, waters and atmosphere of Iwere kingdom from all ties to all other spiritual covenants and agreements.”

The monarch’s statement invoked the authority of the blood of Jesus to “destroy all ancient and new altars in Iwere land not raised up to God.”

His declarations triggered swift reactions from the Emiko royal family. In a petition signed by more than 35 members, the family contended that, when Prince Ginuwa left Benin to become the first Itsekiri monarch about 1480, he received the authority and blessing of his father (Olua, the then Oba of Benin) to reign over the river – hence the title “Ogiame.”

They added that the title “Ogiame” belongs to the Itsekiri people who have used it to address their monarchs, including Christian ones, for more than five hundred years. Admitting that Atuwatse II, as the incumbent Olu of Warri and custodian of the title, has the authority to review aspects of the culture/tradition, they underlined that such reviews must follow due process and be in consultation with Itsekiri stakeholders.

Contacted to comment on the protest, one Omolubi Newuwunmi, alleged to be the mastermind of the protests, declined to speak beyond stating that the matter was already being handled.

Some of the protesters accused Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, an Itsekiri and National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), as well other Itsekiri Christians of pushing the monarch to denounce all deities in the land.

I weep when i see how some kids are born into this world to suffer....i saw a child born without legs and arms and the mother had an option to get rid of it but she opted to keep it and now the child is almost a teenager and cries everyday seeing her normal friends do stuff and gist her about disco and all that........this beautiful child is more beatuiful than ten beauty queens put together mind you.

A lady only drank alcohol when she was pregnant and birthed a child that had 80percent alcohol in its blood,that child according to doctors,will never be normal and will be dependent on machines to breathe,eat,and even sleep...shouldnt that child have been aborted?

Would it be better if a spade is called a spade and certain actions be taken or would it be stepping seriously on Gods toes when one considers an abortion as a way out?
I hope we can argue and discuss maturely...with facts and try not to cuss each other out.
Eeveryone is entitled to an opinion,albeit that it is an opinion formed out of ingorance.

Why bring a child into the world to suffer?would you term it a sin if a lady aborts a child she knows will only be sick throughout its life?

If it was the man’s spouse, it is considered better because courage and support are brood right from home. This is more so, considering the fact that no woman will watch her husband record a public and documented failure during his stay in office.

Below are details of the women behind Nigeria's current powerful politicians...

DAME PATIENCE JONATHAN:
As it stands now the biggest influence on the Nigerian political landscape is undoubtedly President Goodluck Jonathan. President Jonathan’s ascending political profile since the advent of this democratic dispensation is a feat that is rarely achieved. Yet one cannot glorify him and underestimate the role played by his spouse, Dame Patience Jonathan. It is believed that Patience wields much influence on Jonathan’s political decisions. Rumoured recently in some quarters and carried by some media that Lady Jonathan, who is known to be a strong advocate of women rights and growth, might have influenced the expulsion of the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi, by the State chapter of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as there has been a face-off between her and the Governor who are both indigenes of the State. Dame Patience pursues the course for the empowerment and respect for the rights of women with unprecedented zeal. She was known for this course even right from when her husband was Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.

Patience, who has a BSc. in Biology and Psychology from the University of Port Harcourt, was born in 1957 into a respectable Christian family of Lazarus Iwari-Oba in Port-Harcourt.

AMINA SAMBO (OFR):
Mrs Amina Sambo (OFR) is the wife of Vice President Namadi Sambo, and therefore Nigeria’s Second Lady. She was Kaduna State’s First Lady between 2007 and 2010 when her husband was governor of the State. As a background influence to her husband, she must have been a good companion and adviser, contributing to the political ingenuity that has seen him to the topmost echelon of Nigerian politics today.

Mrs Amina Sambo was born in Riyom, Barikin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. She had her primary education at Girls Boarding School, Gindiri, Plateau State, after which she enrolled for a Nursing course before she had her secondary education. She is currently the Executive Director of the Grassroots Health Organisation of Nigeria (GHON).

She coordinated a national programme on the prevention of Vesico honeypotl Fistula (VVF) towards safe motherhood in Nigeria, and was a consultant on delivery at the Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) projects in northern Nigeria. In view of her outstanding achievements and contributions to national growth, she was conferred with the award of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) by President Jonathan.

HELEN DAVID MARK:
The Senate President, David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark is married to four wives. They are Omale, Kate, Helen and Randa. Mark, who represents Benue South federal constituency, is a former military governor of Niger State. He was first elected into the Senate in 1999 and has clinched the position till date. He is indeed, one of the influential political figures in Benue State, if not the most powerful and sophisticated politician in the state.

Senator Mark enjoys a lot of support from all his wives, one of whom is Helen, who often identifies with him in his political struggles and is often seen with him in official outings.

SENATOR (MRS) DAISY DANJUMA:
She is the wife of Theophilus Yusuf Danjuma, a retired General who, by virtue of his philanthropic gestures has received various awards and titles across the country; a man who is now seen by many as a political benefactor and advisor to the political elites, especially those of northern extraction. Senator (Mrs) Daisy, a former senator from Plateau State, is a graduate of Law from Ahmadu Bello University.

In 2003, she was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria where she has served on various committees, most notably, as Chairman of the ECOWAS Parliament’s Women and Children Committee and Chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs and Youth Development.

HAJIYA INNA MARYAM CIROMA:
Former minister of Women Affairs and current Acting Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority, Hajiya Inna Maryam Ciroma, is the wife of former minister of finance, Alhaji Adamu Ciroma. Hajiya Inna was born on September 11, 1954 in Biu, Borno State. She attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where she graduated in 1978 with a degree in Political Science. She later obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, perhaps, in her desire to sharpen and equip herself for the task of public service and administration.

Having had several careers cutting across federal civil service, private entrepreneurship and investment, there is no doubt that she is very exposed. Her husband, Adamu Ciroma, is also a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He was the chairman of the Obasanjo 2003 re-election Campaign Organisation. This shows how the Ciromas are considered politically weighty and relevant by Obasanjo who was, then, very desperate for his re-election bid. Of course, he needed no less political personalities than the Ciromas whose role in capturing the north was considered un-negotiable.

There is no doubt that Adamu Ciroma is an old pillar in Nigerian politics. In 1979, he was a presidential aspirant on the platform of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN). However, he did not scale through in the party primaries. He also served as NPN secretary. Ciroma was,

at other times, minister of Industries and Agriculture. Behind this unwavering politician who was a respected senior cabinet member during the Shagari administration, Hajiya Inna is the woman that provides all sorts of encouragement and support.

HAJIA HAUWA DANBABA SUNTAI:
The rave of the moment, Hajia Hauwa Danbaba Suntai is the wife of Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State. Hauwa, a Shuwa Arab from Borno State, is the reliable storehouse of the Taraba governor who was

involved in an air crash in October last year in Yola, Adamawa State, when he was reported to be flying himself in a private jet. Hauwa has been standing by her husband throughout his ordeal, practically demonstrating that what he needed mostly to recover is, perhaps, the affection and emotional therapy of a dear one. During this same time, Hauwa gave birth to twins in USA where her husband was receiving treatment after he was transferred from a German hospital where he was initially admitted.

Just last weekend, her husband was flown into the country from John Hopkins Hospital, USA. Following this, many are still in doubt if the governor is physically fit to function in his capacity as the governor of the state. It therefore, looks similar to the Umaru Musa Yar’adua sickness saga when Turai was practically doing everything possible to rule the country by proxy, thereby, safe-guarding her husband’s position.

Similarly, Hauwa Suntai is being rumoured to be playing the same role to ensure that her husband’s seat is retained. Despite that the Taraba State acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, is officially carrying out the constitutional duties conferred on him in the governor’s absence, Hauwa’s influence in the Taraba government house cannot be denied.

DAME JUDITH AMAECHI:
Dame Judith Amaechi is the wife of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State. She is the founder, Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), a non-governmental organisation concerned with campaigns against HIV/AIDS, protecting the rights of women and children and promotion of gender equality as well as girl-child education.

Dame Judith was born on December 24, 1970. She attended Federal Government College, Abuloma in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She later attended Rivers State University of Science and Technology, where she graduated in Urban and Regional Planning. Her husband has suffered high degrees of political crisis in recent times ranging from the imbroglio involving his official aircraft and officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in Akure, Ondo State, an attempt to unseat him as the chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) which pitched him against President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor David Jonah Jang of Plateau State, to the recent violence that took over his state assembly in what was unexpected of civilised lawmakers of this century.

Not forgotten is the rift between Amaechi and the commissioner of police in Rivers, Mr Mbu J. Mbu which was interpreted by many as a stage-managed and tele-guided scenario. It is interesting to note that while the wranglings lasted, Dame Judith, like the proverbial rock of Gibraltar, stood closely by her husband with a rare philosophical calmness and in a manner that seems to assure him: “don’t worry; the coast will soon be clear and safe”.

HAJIYA JUMMAI BABANGIDA ALIYU:
Hajiya Jummai Babangida Aliyu is the wife of Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the Chief Servant of Niger State, as often referred to. Her husband is one of the most powerful politicians in the country. Aliyu was elected governor of Niger State in April 2007 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected for a second term on April 26, 2011. Therefore, by 2015, he would have governed the state for eight years.

Also, Governor Aliyu is the incumbent chairman, Northern States Governors’ Forum, a formidable political forum to reckon with. At the pick of the crisis that rocked the NGF, Aliyu, not minding whose ox is being gored, stood his ground and maintained that the embattled governor Chibuike Amaechi should be recognized as the elected chairman of the forum, going by votes cast.

Hajiya Jummai, popularly known as Madam Chief Servant of Niger State, following the nomenclature carved by her husband, is the fountain of courage behind Governor Aliyu. Some of the initiatives she introduced in the state are Women Empowerment, Reforming Prisoners, minimizing and addressing the issue of sexual abuse and ensuring that every Niger child is computer literate.

HAJIYA NANA KASHIM SHETTIMA:
Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima is the wife of Borno State governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima. Recently, Nana took a bold and exemplary step by empowering no less than 500 women in the state with soft loans to enable them start petty trading activities. Using Support for Widows, Orphans and Tsangaya (SWOT) Foundation, a pet project founded by her, she was able to bring succour to the less privileged women , most of whom were victims of the serial insurgent attacks and destructions unleashed on the state by the Boko Haram sect.

Recently, during the Ramadan, she distributed cash and food items to 400 Muslim widows and orphans in Borno.

Her husband, Governor Shettima, would have been thrown into a state of political convulsion following the eruption of violent attacks in his state if he were not a man of strong will, added to the support of a wife like Nana. It can be rightly said that since Shettima came to office, he had not had opportunity to peacefully drink water and drop the proverbial cup, having inherited a state that has, overnight, become a training camp and breeding ground for the insurgent group.

However, in good and bad times, Governor Shettima is sure of one thing – the moral support and encouragement of his wife, Nana.

AISHA BUHARI:
Hajiya Aisha Buhari is the articulate wife of General Muhammadu Buhari. She was born in Adamawa State to the family of Nigeria’s first minister of defence, Muhammadu Ribadu. She is also a granddaughter of the first Chiroma of Adamawa. Hajiya Aisha attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where she bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. She also attended Carlton Institute of London and the Academy Esthetique Beauty Institute of France, Dubai, where she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Cosmetology and Beauty Therapy.

She is also a graduate of International Affairs and Strategic Planning.

Over the years, as General Buhari continued to pursue his presidential aspiration, she has always done everything within her reach to support him and ensure that he wins election. She once assured Nigerian women during a fund raising dinner for female candidates of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) that if her husband won the presidential election, that women will be given the priority they deserved which would focus on their health, education, and being given opportunity to contribute to the growth of Nigeria. What else can a woman do to further fortify the political fortress of her husband more than what Aisha has done?

JUSTICE (MRS) FATI ABUBAKAR:
Justice (Mrs) Fati Lami Abubakar shares in the fame of her husband, General Abdussalami Abubakar (Rtd) who ended the long military rule in Nigeria by voluntarily handing over power to a democratically elected civilian president. It is one historic gesture that makes these Abubakars unique in Nigeria’s political history. With the growing popularity of the position of First Lady, one would have thought that Lady Abubakar would advise for a stay-on.

However, Justice (Mrs) Abubakar is a success story on her own. She is the first female lawyer, Solicitor-General and Attorney-General of Niger State respectively. She is currently a Judge of the High Court of Niger State.

A second child of the late Waziri of Minna, Alhaji Umaru Audu and Hajiya Nana Asma’u, Justice Abubakar was born in Minna, Niger State. From college, she gained admission to study law at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, graduating with an LLB in 1975.

JUSTICE (MRS) MARY ODILI:
The mention of Nigeria’s strong politicians can never be complete without the mention of Peter Odili, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, who is said to have nurtured the incumbent governor, Rotimi Ameachi. Justice Mary Odili is the woman that has been behind Odili as his wife. Mary is currently a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Justice Mary Odili was born on May 12, 1952 at Amudi Obizi Ezinihitte, Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. She attended University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu Campus (UNEC), where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B Hons) in 1976. She had held several judicial positions at one time or the other in Rivers State, Abuja, Kaduna and so on. This legal giant was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on June 23, 2013.

AMBASSADOR BIANCA OJUKWU:
Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu is the wife of Biafran warlord and vibrant politician, late Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu. Before his death, Ojukwu was a national leader of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), on which platform he had contested for presidency but did not win.

Controversies seem to trail this ethereal beauty, lawyer and business woman and the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Pageant winner in 1988, Miss Africa and the first black woman to win Miss Intercontinental, Bianca Ojukwu.

Bianca Odinaka Olivia Ojukwu is the daughter of the legal luminary and former governor of the old Anambra State, late Chief Christian Chukwuma Onoh, of Ngwo, Enugu State. She met the late Ojukwu when she was 22.

MORENIKE FLORENCE SARAKI:
Morenike Florence Saraki is the wife of late Dr. Olusola Saraki, former governor of Kwara State and a politician that wielded enormous power and control in Kwara State. She is the mother of Senator Gbemisola Saraki and stepmother of the former governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki.

Florence has been around her husband during his political struggles. The exit of Saraki who has been a stabilizing and rallying factor in the house might pave the way for Florence, the only wife, to be the new force in the family politics.

MRS. MARGARET PETER OBI:
The was born Margaret Brownson Usen. She got married to governor Obi in 1992. Margaret is the brain behind her husband’s National Gender Affirmative Action which encouraged at least fifty per cent slots to women under Obi’s administration. Margaret is known for her humility despite her intelligence which she kept hidden while working intensively and inconspicuously to garner support for her husband’s administration. She is also known for her fierce devotion to women empowerment and child protection activities.

She facilitated the distribution of equipment grants to women cooperatives that are engaged in dry season faming. Thus, promoting their access to factors of production and enhancing their capacity to support their families. She also facilitated the establishment of Family Courts in the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development (MWAPD) to deal with issues of child abuse and violation of women’s rights especially widows’ right to inheritance.

SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU:
She is the wife of former Lagos State governor, Bola Asiwaju Tinubu and the National Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). In 2011, she contested and won the Lagos Central Senatorial Candidate of the ACN.

Claims of her husband, the ACN National Leader imposing Oluremi on Lagosians as a 2015 gubernatorial candidate for the economic capital without observance of the party’s primary election surfaced in recent months. In June, 2013, in a public address on Channels Television,

Oluremi Tinubu dismissed the claim that she has set her sights on governing seat of Lagos, saying, “My husband did it for eight years … I don’t think I have the strength to say I want to govern the present state of Lagos.”

A blind man, Shaibu Ibrahim, 26, on Tuesday dragged Shehu Sarki, another blind man to a Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ibrahim accused Sarki, 32, his friend and the chairman of the blind peoples’ association of the area of allegedly enticing his wife, Lami Ibrahim, 23.

He said, “Sometime in June, our chairman, Sarki, helped me to get a woman, Lami, for marriage.
“After our marriage in July, Sarki later enticed my wife and took her away from my house.
“I later discovered that my wife is staying in one of his rooms and he has been sleeping with her.”
The offence was said to have contravened Section 389 of the Penal Code, and if convicted, the accused could spend two years in prison.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The presiding judge, Mr Albert Maga, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N20, 000 and a surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till September 9 for hearing.

The State Security Service has arrested an Abuja-based car dealer, Ibrahim Takat, for allegedly conspiring with a spiritualist, identified as Nakasi Ahmadu, to defraud the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed of N3m.”


The spiritualist, Nakasi Ahmadu “used the cloned phone number to give instruction to the Chief of Staff to the minister via text message to deposit N3m into his (Takat) account number 0011141544 with Diamond Bank Plc. The amount was withdrawn the same day by the suspect.”

Parading Takat in Abuja on Friday, the Director of Operations, SSS, in FCT, Ibrahim Halilu, explained that he used the minister’s cloned number to obtain the money on August 8, 2013 at Asokoro, Abuja.

But Takat claimed he knew nothing about the alleged cloning of the minister’s telephone number, adding that the fraud was perpetrated by the spiritualist, Nakasi Ahmadu, who who is on the run. He said Ahmadu used his (Takat) bank account to receive the money and gave him N400,000 in return.
The car dealer explained that he gave his bank account to the spiritualist because he had been his friend for over 20 years and trusted him.

Takat said, “Ahmadu is my friend and he lives in Gombe; he asked me to give him my bank account for a business transaction which I obliged because I have known him for about 20 years and he has helped me in the past. The money (N3m) was deposited in my account and he withdrew it and gave me N400,000, but I didn’t know the money was criminally obtained.

“If I was involved in the scam, I would not have come to the SSS office when I was invited. I don’t know anything about it.”
WE gathered that the is now on the trail of the spiritualist, Nakasi Ahmadu.
