Ford focus is not the car for this question... There are cars older than that and cheaper that will be worth more to you in service on Nigerian roads.... If you have your reasons for the particular car and are prepared to service the car in Nigeria as needed, then it is ok and will last more than a few years as a 2008 model, then it will need work and ford parts are not expensive for that car....

I would not buy it for myself and would rather risk as old as a 2001 of Japanese models... I think the gas saved on the focus will lend well towards repairing the car in a few more years... Wish you well in your endeavor...

I assured them i cannot buy a car that i cannot inspect in person, no matter how good the price is.. and i sent them the link that exposes them as Scammers... They may be operating in many cities across the country and world...


Again, here is the link that exposes this scam and they are posting more Nissan maxima ads within the past two hours... They vary them, some cheaper or some more expensive.. But the price is always a very good deal and too good to be true... They are using legitimate VIN numbers and possibly Carfax will verify a good car because its a real car but not a real deal... Just a scam..

This is the link to the website exposing the Ebay protection plan.. It list almost the same exact advertisement showing today on craigslist in Miami and possibly many other cities.

Remember that a "VIN check does not guarantee the car is not a scam" or without various issues .. A Carfax report can show details of the cars condition and history and reveal things/issues that could be hidden by sellers....
But Having hands on the ground to meet in person and inspect the vehicle, the seller/agents and the title is the best option..
I will still follow/search Craigs list and other sites as i have had nothing but good deals there while exercising caution as well...

I will also be forging relationships with local established dealers.. Not all dealers are honest but its safer to have an established location linked to point of sale and experience with determining a good car that is in good legal order for a safe deal.. Every avenue is worth exploring for the right car and every avenue is worth a good measure of caution...

So I deleted the prior information on this thread.. I had published a car selling on Craigslist and the best deal there.. 2004 Nissan Maxima.. I emailed the seller and they sent me the details... I did a VIN check and it came back as legitimate... When i asked to come and see the car, they said they always travel for business and want to sell it on Ebay Protection plan.. I told them that i can pay by many means from cash to check to debit or credit card and even bank transfer, but i cannot pay for a car that i am not able to see in person and inspect...
I decided to also search Ebay Protection plan and it showed that the Nissan maxima advertised is a scam that has been posting there for quite some time in different variations of best price and trim... They offered many pictures on alternate sites with minimal pictures on Craig's list.. Its a tactic used when Craigslist has recognized the pictures used in scams many times over..

Have someone on the ground to inspect in person cars offered, see the title and ID of the person selling.. Never buy a car that cannot be shown or hides information crucial for recording a legal title.. Some deals are too good to be true but are true and good... Some are or Unsuspecting but prove to be scams or false claims about the cars history or condition..Some are too good and prove to be no good.. There is always a good car for a good price and can be taken home in good faith...

" Always have someone to follow up in person for any car advertised..To inspect it, match the title to the person/agents selling the car.."

It depends on the Seller or dealer.. You will pay Directly to them... I understand that people buying from Nigeria side may not want to pre pay in full for a car before arrival and its not easy either to get a seller/dealer in USA to ship out a car to Nigeria without payment ...
I cannot guarantee what payment plan for any car will be.. That must be negotiated with the car seller/dealer.. I also have to get follow up information from the shipping companies out of port on any possible COD (cash on delivery) options as part of the shipment order... After that information is gathered from various shipping companies, i can determine better what deffered payment arrangements can be made and what range of deposits will suffice...If COD is possible, they may first require a nonrefundable deposit to cover return shipment if the car is not paid on landing..

Payment of my fees are at the same time as payment for the Vehicle and shipping order... $400 is my minimum quote for my services from search,inspection, negotiation and consigning the car at port for delivery.. My fees may vary depending on the distance and number of search errands you send me on.. Some times i may search a car for you and not recommend to buy it after discovering any real problems, i will not ask a fee for any Miami car search until you find one to buy.. Thats why my fee may vary if i go out every day for extended periods searching and adding up my travel cost and time.. I expect to look at three or more cars before recommending one.. I will also be advertiseing cars that i have already inspected there to help consolidate my efforts... You will recieve the copy of the bill quote for shipping and the car purchase bill of sale, before payment... When you recieve the bill copies, you can pay directly to the seller and shipping company delivering your car.. You will have to pay according to whatever plan they allow... No need to send any purchase and shipping money to me... You can even source your own sellers and shipping company without me.. I can inspect the car and deliver the car to them at port on your schedule...
When the car lands at lagos port.. You are responsible for your clearing cost and any clearing agent fees.. You are not required to use my partner in lagos for clearing, but he is available from start to finish... The shipping company has to enter port with the cars title and the bill of sale in the name of the nigerian resident receiving the car and also adds the service of handling the Title and bill of lading affairs.. I have a quote from a company showing $60 fee toward title and bill of lading documents.. Also the quote below, you can subtract the US $395 from the cost because i can take the car to port for you at no extra cost... Insurance cost is an added option..

I purchased 7 cars for myself in USA since my first car.. I bought 5 of them on payment plans and 2 were new cars.. I got bank financing with my credit worthiness and i saw in the contract that they do not finance monthly payment plans for cars to be owned over seas..The financing of the car puts a lien on the title document which prevents the title from clearing port.. Cars are secured with the title document showing mileage at time of sale/transfer and also showing all parties with lien or ownership claim to the vehicle.. Its a matter of property rights security...
