remove the battery of ur fone, put it back(don't press anything).
press and hold volume up button, home button(center) and then press the power button. do not leave this keys until u see android recovery mode
use the volume down button to scroll to wipe data / factory reset, then use the power button to select ok, use the volume down button to scroll to yes wipe data / factory reset,
wait for it to finish, then select reboot fone now, use the power button to select it.
REMEMBER ALL UR APPS,CONTACTS,MESSAGES,CALL LOGS WILL BE DELETED, GOOD LUCK

I can't copy and paste, u will need to go to xda developers and follow their procedures for unbricking a softbricked galaxy s3.u are gonna need to download a lot of files sha(can be upto 500mb). ....and u need a pc and a usb

Victor Tobore: Pls i am planning on buying a samsung galaxy S3 but my fear is that will i be able to browse with my network locked on 3g only.Y i asked dis ? is because when i operated my sisters galaxy tab 2 p3100 tablet i noticed that it doesn't use 3g only when browsing instead it uses both 2g/3g(hardly even shws d 3g) even though i've switched to WCDMA only in the network settings.Airtel 3g in my area is very strong,my nokia 5230 shows full 3g network bar when browsing so my thought was that either it's d tab 2 fault or samsung phns are built not to use 3g only network but instead use both 2g/3g even when wcdma is selected.So pls help me gs3 user,does your phn do d same thing because i need 3g for downloading heavy files and i don't want 2 have a phn dat doesn't lock on 3g only(tnx).

yes it will lock on 3g if u tick wcdma only

Swap keh? I'm using it on my galaxy s2 and galaxy nexus.i can't get my nexus to use sim,it's telling me unknown baseband, but am still trying to fix it. So which means I tether my galaxy s2 internet with my wifi only galaxy nexus. So u know wat that means. Mb choper.lol

if u on stock rom, head over to settings. then go to more settings. click mobile network. click network type. wcdma is 3g+.While gsm is 2g

but if u on custom ROM based on AOSP. den the lte onoff is ur option.

Azanor: Most of the 2G/3G switcher apps i've seen in the Play store are just widgets which don't do what I want. They are basically shortcuts to the mobile network settings and since the option to lock mobile data on 3G is not available there, they remain useless ( I tried a few of them out)

As for making use of a launcher with a dialer, that won't work either because the dialer functionality has been blocked from the framework of the Nexus 7 so the dialer app won't even be able to gain access to this part of the android framework. I've tried using the Dialer One app from the Play store and after installing, whenever I tried to launch the app it rebooted my phone.

What I'm trying to do now is get the modified framework for the Nexus 7 that has the dialer unblocked so I can try the *#*#4636#*#* method you mentioned above. I've seen a few but none that matches the build number for my tab.

Will update when I've made some progress

Been using the 3G Nexus 7 for about 2 weeks plus and so far so good. The only hitch I've noticed so far is there's no way to lock your mobile data connection to 3G only. The option is simply not available among the Mobile Network options.

This is especially annoying because whenever I get home the tablet goes to EDGE and using the internet becomes brutally slow. It's only in certain parts of the house that the connection goes back to 3G/HSPA.

I've scoured the interwebs for a solution but have come up short. Does anyone know a way to overcome this problem?
