The TRUTH is that the MMM is not worse than the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Yet, many intelligent people fell for the stock hype thing in 2006 - 2008. I don’t hear anyone calling them names.

In the Nigerian stock, Market OF 2006 - 2008 those who knew better than SO CALLED educated guys like me took advantage of us too. The Nigerian Stock Exchange of 2006-2008 was the big boys MMM
So, idiocy is a matter of level.

I lost over N100million (YES over N100,000,000) in Nigerian Stock Exchange CRASH OF 2008 or so when all those stocks went down overnight. I was sending dollars form USA to buy stocks, and just kept them, while watching the prices go up like crazy. Some shares (INCLUDING THOSE OF SOME BANKS!) went from N3 to $180 in less than 3 months, with no visible increase in their productivity. Yet, many big boys like me who hsould know better kept buying the stocks just like the MMM peopel were doing. I even took MARGIN LOAN from my bank to get even more stocks from the Nigerian Stock Exchange, when my common sense should be telling me that these stocks were overvalued like AOL stock.
Eventually the Stock Market crashed, the dangotes and Otedolas of this world took the money they had syphoned out to go on and build even bigger empires and buy million dollar yachts, and every one else went into their respective corners to cry and regroup.

It was painful but I never whined and NEVER even complained openly. I was a big boy who should have known better, so I blamed myself and simply looked for how to recover.

So, I simply decided to do the next best thing: I DECIDED TO HELP THOSE WHO OWED BANKS MONEY FROM MARGIN LOANS TO FIGHT THE BANKS AGAINST REPAYING SINCE THE BANKS BASICALLY INDUCED SOME OF THEM WITH THOSE LOANS TO BUY BANK STOCK (which was clearly illegal), and I ended up recovering most of my own N100mllion loss working as a lawyer for those who lost money with banks. LOL.
So, to me Nigerian Stock Exchange was like MMM on a more sophisticated level because we saw companies with NO TRACK record of any profitability, or even assets, going public and garnering billions of naira overnight, and very educated rich people like ME bought those shares, without really thinking the math through, to see that there was really NOTHING backing those shares up.

The owners of those companies fed the stock buying frenzy by paying huge dividends out of the capital they just got from public (in fact that was PONZI pure and simple and more illegal than MMM)
So, this MMM was NOT different. It was just meant for the younger and less sophisticated desperado. The real smart boys among them have already taken their money and bought cars and built houses with it. You have been seeing some of them even here on facebook. So, not everyone was stupid to stay in so long.

As for ‘visionary' pastors now telling us it is ungodly to do it, I am not sure which bible they were reading. The laws of Nigeria as it stands is not against it, and the people who owned the MMM were TRANSPARENT in what they were doing. GO READ THEIR WEBSITES. So, what sin have they really committed? If the scheme collapsed on its head, it was a business gone bad. Period. No need to enter pulpit and start 'hearing' from God what you didnt hear 6 months ago.

So, what exactly is ungodly there. Those WHO DID MMM were NOT trying to reap where they didnt sow. THEY SOWED THEIR MONEY remember?, they just WANTED TO REAP 30-fold and 100fold returns like the man in parable of the sower and parable of talents.
Remember, Jesus even told us the Sower in that parable of the sower also sowed some seeds on hard ground and some among thorns, before getting to the good soil.

People who invested in MMM were NOT deceived, just like Adam was not deceived before he ate the apple. Like Adam, they all knew what they were doing when they did it (ONLY Eve was deceived).

The website and all literature the MMM people used made it CLEAR they were not doing any business. They were simply sharing money contributed by others to some others. Thats not scam. Scam is when you are doing one thing and telling others you were doing something different from what you were really doing.

I did write my own warning a couple of weeks ago, and advised those doing it how to reduce their risk. I hope some of them listened. A while ago, I got an education on leadership from my friends. It was a good one. Good leaders take difficult positions in times of hardship. Popular opinion is not always right. Nor is it always wrong.

That we are in an economic bind is putting it mildly. We have all become economist and advisers. I am not certain that our leaders read FB so our discussions are mostly for individual enlightenment and conversations.

One of such is the suggestion that Dangote made on selling the NLNG. Many people do not like Dangote. They believe he is an opportunist given an undue advantage. That might be true. But big business now rule the world. 100 companies contributed to 33% of USA's GDP last year. The same trend is in UK. So monopolies are in fashion. Though it is a dangerous trend.

I would like to share some facts on the NLNG and seek opinions not rooted in emotions. NLNG is profitable. Nigeria through NNPC owns about 49%. The profits from NLNG have mostly been retained by NNPC.NNPC has given reasons when challenged why that money is retained. NLNG requires massive funds for expansions. The reason for NLNG success is because the majority shares are held by IOCs. There is an existential threat to NLNG based on the gas market now. Profit is expected to decline.

We are in an economic recession. We must spend our way out of it. We must be able to attract investors. We need dollars. Plenty of it. Your reserves are a guarantee of your Naira stability. Many seem to miss that. Your Naira will continue to devalue no matter what unless you grow your reserves. Falling crude prices, reduced output are all challenges to attaining this. There are no exports.
Assets can be sold or leveraged upon to escape recession.

That is why you have them. NLNG profit in 12 years at current trends will not exceed $12b. That is highly optimistic. That is 12 years. Using discounted computations and inflation that is really about $10b or less.
Adding $20b from selling 49% gives your Naira a big bounce. It immediately gives you spending power of 4 years. It takes out the need to take a loan from China or US or IMF or WB. It will bring the Naira value up to about NGN200 to the USD using conservative calculations.


This money can then be invested in infrastructure that will lead to diversified revenue earnings and reduce import dependence. It is a foundation to build upon. What we should demand is what will be done with it.

It is foolish to have assets and the economy dies. A loan now will net off the investments returns from NLNG. Makes no sense.
Let us discuss with rationality and not emotions. Govt will still tax NLNG and therefore still make revenue. So is not a net loss.
