Let me introduce you to the world’s softest dress. I am not kidding you - it’s like the inside of a sweatshirt but all over. It’s perfect for right now, where it’s sunny but still kind of chilly. (Or if you are up north where it’s still very chilly, it’s warm and can work for different seasons!) Plus, to be honest - I’ve received 3 compliments today on this dress and It’s only 11 am. That might be a new record. Okay, so technically one was from my mom - so that’s a given and the other 2 were from complete strangers. Also I need to learn to take a compliment when strangers compliment something I’m wearing. Instead I give them the complete rundown of the piece - I told those strangers today it was from Nordstrom, it’s super soft and fits true to size. How to style mom jeans? That was the question which intrigued me when I spotted this particular pair of mom jeans at Zara. I love to wear jeans and I find trashed, vintage looking denim super cool too but I have never been into mom jeans, therefore I had no clue how to look effortlessly cool as many other girls do pulling off one of the biggest trends right now. Besides skinny and flared jeans I haven’t been really into any other kind of jeans up until now… I have decided to challenge myself and add something new and refreshing into my wardrobe but without making it too big of an investment and see how I feel about the change before swiping my card for more expensive substitute. Mom jeans ended up being one of the easiest to style and coolest additions to my closet. As soon as I brought them home and started to think of ways how to style them, for some reason, Alexa Chung and Annine Bing were first two super stylish ladies that came to my mind. Therefore I decided to style my outfit in what I thought that they would style theirs: Blazer + White Shirt + Vintage Bag + Silk Scarf. Voila! I was happy with the outcome and have happily adopted these mom jeans as, what I think will be one of the staple pieces I’ll be wearing this Spring. Yes, the weather is still cold and not nearly as proper for Spring time but I’m also very tired of the Winter clothes and I have realised that I got so dull about dressing like a snowman so I’ve decided to freeze just a little bit more but have much more fun with my daily outfits. I don’t know what’s the case with you but the way how I dress reflects the way how I feel. I’ve been for too long stuck with the total black and grey, triple layered outfits this Winter. You could graduate as the best student in Finance but it doesn't mean you will make more money than everybody else. The best graduating Law student does not necessarily become the best lawyer. The fact is, life requires more than the ability to understand a concept, memorise it and reproduce it in an exam. School rewards people for their memory. Life rewards people for their imagination. School rewards caution, life rewards daring. School hails those who live by the rules. Life exalts those who break the rules and set new ones. So, do I mean people shouldn't study hard in school? Oh! no, you should, but don't sacrifice every other thing on the altar of First Class. Don't limit yourself to the classroom. Do something practical. Take a leadership position. Start a business and fail. That's a better Entrepreneurship 101. Join or start a club. Contest an election and lose. It will teach you something Political Science 101 will not teach you. Attend a seminar. Read books outside the scope of your course. Go on missions and win a soul for eternal rewards. Do something you believe in. Think less of becoming an excellent student but think more of becoming an excellent person. Don't make the classroom your world but make the world your classroom.
