The minority caucus of the House of Representatives has registered its objection to the federal government’s planned importation of Chinese doctors to support its fight against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

The caucus warned that bringing in medical personnel from the epicentre of the dreaded disease would expose Nigeria to further danger and asked the federal government to immediately rescind its decision and jettison all plans to bring in the doctors.

The federal government has disclosed that it will be seeking amendment to the 2020 budget by asking the National Assembly to reduce some of the parameters of the budget.

Senator Ibikunle Amosun (APC, Ogun) has donated the sum of N25 million to Ogun State government to help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

As at April 1, the state has four confirmed cases of the deadly virus.

In a letter dated March 31, 2020 and addressed to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, the lawmaker said the donation, his “personal contribution for the management of Covid-19 challenges in Ogun State”, has been transferred into the state government’s designated Access Bank account for Ogun State Coalition against COVID-19.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called on Nigerians to document and report all cases of human rights violations to any of its offices across the country for necessary action.

This directive followed reports of cases of human rights violations by security operatives enforcing government’s directives on COVID-19.

Similarly, it directed all its officers in the 36 states of the federation, including Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to be on standby to receive such complaints from Nigerians.
