Education / Re: 20,000 Students Have Benefited From FG's Student Loan, 240,000 More Soon by Origin(f): 9:25pm On Aug 13
Too easy....

Flag their BVN so they have restricted access to transact on any of their accounts until full refund.

Nice initiative....the schools benefit, the students benefit, .

Hope the schools also show upgrades to their infrastructure....

New & modern hostel & classroom facilities , more staff I beg. The money may not leave the TSA but the schools can justify this facilities from the increased intake of students.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Electricity Trading Changing To Bilateral Trading By Habu Sadeik by Origin(f): 9:15pm On Aug 13
Finally some data...

If generation cost is that low then why would do we need to pay more.

A kWh should cost the same across board - one single tariff. No more different bands. Just pay for what you use.

Most the unpaid bills are from government parastatals including the armed forces police etc.... it's in the news .

Because if everyone has received a meter then there can be no debts or unpaid electricity bills.

Really no justification for that much increase in tariff on the bands. Nigeria produces CNG and it's sale is not dolllarised . Gas is also not the only source of power generation.

Discos use the same distribution lines no upgrades, consumer pays for the meter.

There is room to reduce the cost so it benefits the customer and stops inefficiency in the industry.

Anytime you see too much English and few facts and figures . Just know that confusion and lies will be there..

How much is GENCO generating electrity
How much is it sold for. is it sold in USD in Nigeria
Show comparison with independent GENCOs why do they have cheaper electricity fees.?
Politics / Re: Things Getting Better Under Tinubu, Protest Will Harm Economy – Tompolo by Origin(f): 12:18pm On Jul 29
All the topics on this protest on Nairaland seems about stopping or advising people to stop the PROTEST....

And mainly from people who are in power ...
.
This tells me that they are scared and worried for their safety and a protest brings power back to the people.....

Food for thought!!!!!

Too many WhatsApp messages, Nairaland land topics and other SM messages advising people to not PROTEST.
Politics / Re: 4 Months Later, Tunji-Ojo's ‘Contactless’ Passport Application Remains a Mirage by Origin(f): 10:27pm On Jul 16
Before we look at contactless capturing...

Let us first consider all the passports that are still in production even after months of capturing. At least that one has evidence.

There has been several complaints both on nairaland and other social spaces that passports are still in production months after capturing even though the NIS claims it takes less than six weeks..

Let oga minister first print out and review past -due- for- collections passports first - and publicise per NIS center and let us judge performance

The person is using a POS vendor, that is why they are asking for receipt. Inconsistency in names of both accounts too... Though probably you didn't think of it that way .

You could very well be right. The vendor gave two different customers those two different accounts. But knowing the area helps us know where the culprit operates.

By the way I used to be the OG that never thought she could be scammed. I use months to investigate a single transaction. Take time before paying... ....

Took care but now I know it could happen to anyone.

Shocked but will never be embarrassed to show the world the thieves out there.

I would appreciate if this gets to front page so others don't get scammed....

Scammers get away with it because the scammed feel too embarrassed to out them to the world.

2512 fashion on Instagram blocked comments and customers and is continuing to post.
These are the accounts used to collect money.

If you know the owners of these accounts, or you've been scammed by the same vendor or another vendor, Share and let them be exposed for the world to see.

We still have not eaten or tried half of our local cuisine....

Politics / Re: Minimum Wage: Resign If You Can’t Pay, Labour Tackles Governors by Origin(f): 4:27pm On Jun 09
I'm loving these responses...

It is obvious we have allowed some overconfident, unfeeling and callous comments from the executives of this nation. They have repeatedly shown no capacity for leadership both in action and in words.

They continue to feel confident that the masses can do nothing to them and it beefs their confidence.
Politics / Re: Labour Vows To Reject Meagre Addition To ₦60,000 As Minimum Wage by Origin(f): 9:27pm On Jun 04
Let's wait and see...

Of course the net pay is more important than the gross. And the minimum taxable income would have to be increased....

Just putting that out there for consideration....

Government should show good faith by reducing it's cost of governance or else restrict maximum pay of any elected officials to a percentage of the minimum wage

I support peace wholeheartedly.....

We see how warmongers want to destroy the earth... Apart from the massive loss of lives, they still want to destroy the earth.

They are the same people building (end of the war) bunkers and looking for space on Mars because of this crazy logic that they must destroy this ONE & ONLY BEAUTIFUL EARTH WE HAVE.

Let every country cease fire and let peace reign....

We've not seen a single winner just losses left and right, lives, properties and families destroyed, enmity and rivalry and fighting just thriving.

LET PEACE REIGN.

I was expecting this for a very long time....

As governor then he increased taxes levies and the likes.... As that was the only and major source of income....

But this is too much too soon and I really am disappointed at the response from all agencies that used to keep the government in check. This silence is deafening and obvious..,

And we still do not have any control on corruption, no detailed budget, no control on government spending.

More analysis is required.

For such a business did it have any additional capital investments in the period

Why did it have such high impact fx losses. On what ?

Do they use a lot of expatriate employees. What are their major OPEX spend...

Businesses can make losses not only from macro economic variables but also from poor decision making. ( I believe that particular company has the highest paid top officer in Nigeria, you do the maths)
Politics / Re: Adebayo Adelabu: Accept Electricity Tariff Hike Or Face Total Blackout by Origin(f): 4:41pm On Apr 30
Come at me with facts and figures let us reason together.

Private local GenCos exists using CNG to generate electricity and their cost of production is not that high. We have access to wind turbines (for the shores) which is not being exploited. How much do we generate power. How much is it sold to DisCos
and what is the margin....

Companies cannot keep making costly/non economic decisions just because they are a monopoly or a public enterprise.

It is privatised but with no competition.....let private investors into that industry and let us see the outcome.

That is investment and future taxes down the drain and investors ( future and foreign) may read into it.

One thing about other people's money (OPM) is that people spend it stupidly......

We see this in business in the mismanagement of shareholder's funds, in finance in the mismanagement of loans and in public servants in the mismanagement of public funds.

It's not today but it can be embarrassing to see learned very religious people show their true colors over OPM.

Politics / Re: 95 Million Nigerians Need To Register For NIN, Says NIMC by Origin(f): 3:23pm On Apr 16
I am affected so I will speak out.

It is embarrassing the number of resources available to cater to a 100 million Nigerians.

For NIN, driver's license, international passport. How much is a laptop, camera and fingerprint machine that we continue to have long queues that wastes time and money every single day.

The government should please wise up and outsource to business center.

The NIN has a single customer care number that is NEVER reachable. Try it yourself. I ve spent hours trying to get feedback on issues I am told can only be resolved by this avenue.

Tried emails too no response for weeks....

Then one human being will now boast that he/she was the head of a parastatal for four to eight years. What were your accomplishments?
Education / Re: Student Captured Berating Teacher In Viral Video by Origin(f): 3:15pm On Apr 16
Overzealous parents and people pleasing owners of school are the cause of this.

Of course his parents are rich ( or better still controlled by their sense of richness)...

I wouldn't dare, my parents would still beat me. Worse if there is video evidence. That means they will play it and beat me everyday.

A teacher is an instituted authority, and should have given adequate punishment eg wash the surroundings and other forms of serious exercise.

I know there are still good schools that would suspend that kid no matter what.

By the way all banks do this. They keep approving unrealistic budgets and earn unjustified bonuses. The CBN has not fulfilled its oversight function.

Politics / Re: Tinubu: We Will Raise $10 Billion To Stabilise Naira, Boost FX Liquidity by Origin(f): 10:25pm On Feb 20
Short term fix.

As long as everyone continues to use importer rather than local goods. The demand for fx will always stack higher than the naira....

From your gate to your living room to your bedroom everyone uses 90% imported in their homes. Even when local is available and cheaper. We all still opt for these imported items.......

We all know the solution but the fruit of corruption is to steal as to use all that glitters that is not gold....

Buy local to grow the Naira.

And it is still the same corruption that has our fx rising because our main trade partner is China and we should be concerned about the yen but our loans and corruption is in dollars.

Business / Re: ‘From 5k To 13k’ : How Dollar Rate To Naira Affected Cement Prices In Nigeria by Origin(f): 10:43pm On Feb 17
Just stop buying....

Prices are a function of demand and supply. Stop buying and watch the prices fall to a realistic level.....

Prices will rise is a scare tactic that will keep deman up. Just stop buying .

There is no tangible justification for cement sugar etc to be that high. Or why a Nigerian used vehicle will be 3x it's price cos of fx.

Or a marketer that has old goods or stock should increase price due to fx and yes people have lots of old stock in warehouse but want to sell at inflated prices.

Business / Re: Why Exactly Is The Cement Price Going Up This Way? by Origin(f): 6:52pm On Feb 17
Because it's a monopolistic market.....

No incentive to manage cost or even bargain competitive prices.

Nigerians should BOYCOTT all non essentials goods for now. That is the only solution.
