Politics / Re: CBN Tells Nigerians To Report Cash Withdrawal Issues From December 1 by Origin(f): 7:00am On Dec 01
Banks are using failed transactions to earn money....

You transfer money your account is debited....

The money does not get to the beneficiary.....

The bank reverses the transaction after 48+ hours..

The bank does not reverse the charges and thus earned bank charges on failed transactions.

Also all the funds in transit/suspense are being benefitted by someone in that financial system.

Not sure y something that is automated should still be charged out and not credited back instantly.

CBN please regulate that too. Happened with my GT & FBN.
Crime / Re: Why Do Nigerians, Who Have Relocated To Better Countries, Still Commit Crimes? by Origin(f): 7:47am On Nov 28
Unfortunately some things people take for granted are big criminal activities elsewhere.

Romance scams are rampant in Nigeria but is prosecutable abroad.

Whites do it too by the way.

But you should never attribute the character of a few to a whole nation look at the million of successes we have abroad. In schools, businesses, entertainment.

I'm not sure I understand why it is the FG that does this and not the discos or the TCN.

Are they not privatized?

Are the systems not supposed to be monitored and upgraded

Is it not the 1960 network we are still revamping? Just like all our refineries and assets. Is it not only politicians car that are the latest models?

There is something about the Atlantic Ocean.......

That once people cross it they get sense. People will move gently with no escort with no bad behavior once the get to developed countries...

Cos they know the consequences...

Its the politicians, it's the people with money power, it's some men - who will cook for their oyinbo family abroad but never for their Nigerian family, it's everybody that misbehaves here due to their family's affluence or influence.

Don't forget your poor business and customer service .

I was cut off from many channels while the subscription was still active. Called and nothing was done about it till it expired.

All the channels became active again post expiration.

You still have a good business model that many would pay for. But ........
Business / Re: Rewane Projects Stronger Naira In January by Origin(f): 7:46am On Nov 13
Historically, the naira has always appreciated Dec to early January as there are more dollar inflows into the country.

By February March it starts to depreciate as outflows increase because people who ordered goods from sales in November December start to receive, clear and pay for goods.
Business / Re: Oil Marketers Drag Dangote To Court, Insist On Petrol Import by Origin(f): 11:20am On Nov 07
For everyone to be going to court, I hope one government has not guaranteed no importation as long as that refinery is in existence.....

If this contract does not exist then there is no reason any one is in court.

Antitrust laws, free trade, capitalist nation - not sure what the problem is here. We already have existing structures for oil importation. Is there a regulation restricting importation?
Politics / Re: Gani Adams Slams N5bn Suit On Igboho For Publishing Private Conversation by Origin(f): 12:23pm On Oct 28
In a 13-paragraph affidavit supporting his motion, Adams stated, “Sometime in April 2024, the respondent appeared on social media, claiming to possess a recorded private telephone conversation between the applicant and one Mr Nurudeen Banjo, based in the United States of America.

Has he published the recording or he is still claiming to possess the record. Two different things....

One get evidence, the other no get. And Igboho can probably repeat verbatim what he has heard, without the need for a recording.....
Politics / Re: Alex Ikwechegh Slaps Bolt Driver (Video) by Origin(f): 12:12pm On Oct 28
In Nigeria where we worship money.....

anything goes. Night time delivery that even the bolt driver needs to consider the safety of his car and his person....

Now see evidence but no lawyer will defend and no judge will convict.

In fact for your own security you shouldn't allow deliveries into your gate.

Not sure why you have to use "burn survivor' to describe the man.

Or why the comments and topic doubts the girl's intentions for marrying said man.

But I must say you all need serious help. Does the burns make him less of a person incapable of love or being loved.

And what you must have gone through in your personal lives to doubt women this much.

I just hope it's cruise and not reflective of what is in your hearts.

Family / Re: Why Get Pregnant When You Know You Can't Afford It? by Origin(f): 11:04am On Oct 18
One has to be careful in these matters. .....

Some lose jobs while pregnant and some were poor to begin with such that they just have to marry and give birth within that circumstance or else spend their lives childless and still penniless.

For me, wealth is a trial and poverty is a trail. Why would you help?

You help because you are grateful that you are not tested with poverty and that it is not you that has to beg and that you may earn goodness from your wealth.

So many have worked hard and still not received wealth and not all who are wealthy got it from good means.

Politics / Re: Fuel Price Hike: Reps Ask FG To Introduce “Targeted Subsidies” On Petrol, Gas by Origin(f): 11:27am On Oct 17
As much as it hurts, the subsidies for petrol and electricity were the highest expense for the government.....

Now that these are no longer being paid. Can we see an increase in reserves and the value of the naira and a reduction in debts ( debt servicing being too high for the government)

The only thing to be done is to get beat value for money reduce costs of getting petrol for a crude producing country.

And is very risky to pedestrians.

Many times that same government parastatal has issued several mass vacancies the outcome of which the Nigerian populace knows nothing about till today....

Even the operation of the parastatal is shrouded in confusion and murky outcomes...

Politics / Re: NASS Considering Bill Seeking To Increase VAT From 7.5% To 10% By 2025 by Origin(f): 9:28am On Oct 14
This would stifle the economy further...

The tax base has already been eroded by the exit of many businesses from Nigeria. So increasing the rate will not necessarily guarantee an increase in tax revenue...

It would however increase the cost of living, reducing spending and therefore reducing investment and it would discourage new investors....

Food for thought... When all you care about is guaranteeing your lifestyle....VAT is passed to consumers and consumers cannot afford it right now.
Politics / Re: Court Strikes Out Man’s Suit Challenging Electricity Tariff Hike by Origin(f): 10:22pm On Oct 10
Interesting read from PUNCH.

The PUNCH recalls that MAN had challenged the minor review of the electricity tariff by the NERC and filed a lawsuit at the Lagos Judicial Division of the Federal High Court.

If 300% increase is a "minor" review then we know this was a sponsored piece.

There are people selling online and will tell you the specs and that it is the fake version and will also sell at a very reduced price.

That is better IMO.

Because Dangote is not a monopoly in that segment and so he can reduce price to get into the market.

If he raises the price they will go back to the imported fuel.

One can only get the best prices in a competitive market.

Lol… Naija my country…

give us 24/7 electricity, we want 24 hours light, why can’t government provide stable and steady power supply, yen yen yen… now see the result… when people finally found out the cost of 24/7 stable power supply, they are now rejecting it… it’s not even 24 hours supply yet ooo, they are petitioning to reject it…

See people rejecting Band A like Ebola… Is band A not supposed to be 20 hours minimum?… so why are people refusing to migrate? Cost?

Everything comes with a price…. Ask people abroad how much they pay for that 24/7 stable power supply, you’ll be shocked.

Now, this is not an excuse for the government’s failure. Successive governments have failed Nigerians.

I still have hope for the country sha. Naija shall be great.

I don't like responding to people but.......

Is it the same ,$40 that is the minimum wage per month for formal labor over there

Is it the same way they arbitrarily move people to band A without informing them

Is it the same way their government keep hiding how much it costs to produce electricity nor can it justify the increase in fees

Has the Fed govt paid off it's debt on all its parastatals, ministries and institutions?

Which is one of the main issues for discos not been able to meet financial obligations.

Should Nigerians pay for all the mismanaged US ddenominated loans that have been taken and which have become costlier due to the devaluation of the currency?

I am just fed up with these kind of statements....

The person that has authority to fix a problem is telling us about the problem..

Apparently nothing has and will change.

Limit cash withdrawals across al channels and stop penalizing banking transactions. Even fish sellers now have pamlmpay or pay due to the lack of cash in 2022.

If it's to add nonsense charges o you will know how to do that one.

Let it be a free market. Sell refineries, allow importation. Stop regulating the sector..

Let it be efficient. And stop creating confusion. Allow more investors to the industry and let NNPC face it's job of making profits.

Standardization is the only regulation required in that sector.

Serving all your interests and destroying the economy

Private citizens, state and federal governments taking loans as if it does not have to be repaid.

Some governors have so many long-term loans with no hope of paying back. Because they never use those loans to generate funds. EVER...

CNN has bailed banks due to this same loans. The individuals always walk free no accountability no remorse no paybacks...

Still living large in this same country with access to all their assets...this will still continue when people are never held accountable.
