Kim Kardashian is a marketing genius. And what she markets is herself. She appears to be baring all, but her image is obsessively edited and scripted. Kardashian is a perfectionist, and she is a workaholic obsessed with fame and money. She is totally obsessive and OCD regarding her carefully crafted image. She has famous connections. Robert Kardashian, her father, was a big-shot LA lawyer in the OJ Simpson case. She attended pre-school with Paris Hilton. Her 14th birthday party was held at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. Many other starlets have connections, but few have 32 million Twitter followers (more than Oprah, CNN, Bill Gates, or LaBron James). She leveraged her connections to put herself in the spotlight at the correct time. Nick Lachey claims Kim Kardashian alerted paparazzi to their movie date in 2006 in bid to get famous. Sex sells. Kim Kardashian’s rise to fame began in 2007 with a “leaked” sex tape starring our girl and rapper Ray J (brother of pop star, Brandy, and first cousin of rapper Snoop Dogg). Again, many starlets have leaked sex tapes, but few have gone on to become household names. Even fewer are worth $100M. Kardashian epitomizes the modern day Amerikan dream. She is sexy (to some). She is photogenic — with the help of massive make-up, hair styling, photo-shop, and expensive wardrobe. And she has absolutely no shame exploiting ALL of it. Kardashian is now married, and a mother, and has continued to be sexually outrageous. It works. She recently posed naked in Paper ’s 2014 winter issue.Paper ’s website received 15.9 million views in one day, compared with 25,000 views on an average day. Her husband, rapper Kanye West posts highly sexual photos of her on Instagram. He also raps about her sex tape, bragging about their lifestyle: “Eat breakfast at Gucci. My girl a superstar all from a home movie.” She recently published a book, “Selfish,” filled with selfies, mostly in bathing suits. People are attracted to the glamour. Kim posts pictures of herself on private planes, on fancy vacations, at the MetBall, in gorgeous beaches (in a scantily clad bathing suit of course), and at exclusive events. Viewers feel like they get a taste of what it is like to be a celebrity, and they click on her photos to live vicariously through her. Again, all of these images are carefully crafted, and even when she shows a picture of herself as she is just waking up, she has full hair and make-up. Kardashian is everywhere and heavily diversified. She never went to college (she dropped out of High School), but she is a highly successful multi-faced entrepreneur. Kardashian stars in a popular reality TV show, has published books, graced the cover of Vogue, launched a popular app, has a clothing line, a perfume, and much more. The choose-your-own-adventure-style Kim Kardashian app— where fans go on photo shoots, dates, and hang out with Hollywood stars, “in order to climb the ranks and become an A-list celebrity,” — has 28 million downloads and 11 billion minutes of play since it launched last summer. It is also on track to rake in over $200 million. It promises fame and fortune the Kim Kardashian way: users must pay constant attention to their wardrobe, social standing, romantic life, media presence, and accumulation of wealth. The goal is to earn virtual cash, and special Kardashian branded K stars, in the hopes of becoming famous. “Join KIM KARDASHIAN on a red carpet adventure in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood! Create your own aspiring celebrity and rise to fame and fortune!”

James Bond’s Warm-Weather Black Tie Etiquette After 30 years, James Bond will once again be wearing an ivory dinner jacket in Spectre. Bond started a tradition of often wearing an ivory dinner jacket in warm climates 51 years ago in Goldfinger. In the six appearances of the ivory dinner jacket throughout the series, Bond has demonstrated how to properly wear warm weather black tie. Bond’s warm-weather dinner jackets are ivory and not pure white because many natural fibres—particularly wool—have oils that prevent them from being bleached pure white. Calling it a “white” dinner jacket is not incorrect since white is the intended colour. Though Sean Connery’s ivory dinner jackets are made of wool, Roger Moore wears ivory dinner jackets in silk and linen. Daniel Craig’s ivory dinner jacket in Spectre is made of 56% silk and 44% viscose, a cool-wearing semi-synthetic fibre derived from cellulose.

The Nerd Glasses Celebrities from Sasha to Tonto Dike have been rocking the geek chic lately. Many Fashion savvy youths have also followed suit, donning the geeky specs from the authentic designers to “Made in Aba” replicas. It is a fashion trend every fashion conscious must be seen with. This particular look is better pulled off with light make up, think pink and nude tones. Most girls make the blunder of using heavy make up, especially red shimmer lipsticks with their nerd frames. Not hot chicas, light is right!

5 Ways to Stop Procrastination and Make Sure Things Get Done If you tend to be a procrastinator, learning to boss yourself around may be the key to getting things done Faced with an important task, how often do you say to yourself, "I have plenty of time to do this later"? Or "I'll do it first thing in the morning, when my mind's fresh"? Or "I just need to [fill in the blank] first"? These are all signs of a procrastinator. We all do it sometimes--maybe you're procrastinating even now by reading this article. Procrastinators love distraction. And if there's one thing we're surrounded by in our current information age, it's distraction. Whether you're online, tuned in to mass media, or communicating with others, there's always something else to do. Researchers who study human behavior have found that bossing yourself around may hold the secret to getting things done. The method is called the multiple selves model. The concept is that your goal-oriented future self is almost constantly fighting with the immediate-gratification present self. They're duking it out for control, and you're the battlefield. Years ago, when LeBron James wanted to make the leap from Cleveland to Miami, he told ESPN reporter Jon Greenberg, "I wanted to do what's best for LeBron James and to do what makes LeBron James happy." It may sound like a self-centered verbal tic, but University of Michigan psychologist Ethan Kross says "using one's own name ... to refer to the self during introspection is a form of self-distancing that enhances self-regulation." It may even be a way of crystallizing that "two-selves" idea by helping you get the other you to listen for a change -- and to stop procrastinating on doing what you want. So how can we boss ourselves around to get things done? 1. Self-mastery. When the duality kicks in, tell any uncooperative parts of your head, "I'm the boss here and we are going to tackle this problem now." 2. Mind control. If you know you have a deadline and you are doing everything to distract yourself, use your mind to control yourself. The moment you start to wander off track, say something to yourself that gets you back to the task at hand. You can say STOP IT really loud--hopefully your co-workers won't think you're crazy. 3. Hard parts first. In the morning we have the most energy, and you can boss yourself around to do the harder tasks first. Then as the day goes on, your energy drains--but you have momentum. Remember: Be the kind of boss that gets her own work done. 4. Tools and trickery Break up your habits. Do things in the opposite order. Find your preferred tool of procrastination (usually a smartphone) and lock it in a drawer to make it harder to check--maybe even a drawer in someone else's office, so you have to explain why you need it. Turn off pings and alerts so you don't hear them until you're done. 5. Just make it happen. We don't have to feel good about a task to do the task. Motivation makes us feel better about what we have to do, but we don't need it to get the job done. So if you find yourself procrastinating, tell yourself, "I am choosing to do this now." Not wanting to do it now is not a good enough excuse. In procrastination and other problem areas, remind yourself daily that you ARE the boss of you. source:inc.com

There are tens of thousands of searches a month on Google inquiring how to tie a scarf. It seems so simple, but so does tying a necktie, yet, it does take practice to get it right. If not handled correctly, this long strip of cloth can be somewhat daunting, so a quick discussion is in order to help those wanting to know how to properly do it. For the most part, a scarf can be tied in the same manner as a necktie, but usually it's displayed in a wrap fashion. It can be tied in a regular loose knot by tying the two lengths together. The knot tying method is best suited for when it's hanging loosely around the neck or draped diagonally across one shoulder and knotted at the hip. You can use the knot tying pattern when using the scarf as a head piece as well. A fashionable knot displayed off centered on either side of the temples works well, or you can tie it at the nape of the neck. A knot also works well when the scarf is styled and wrapped around the hip or waist area. Another presentation is using the Windsor knot pattern. Don't slide the knot up to your neck. Just let it hang midriff. Still, another knot pattern is to use it as a belt for an over coat that has loops. You can tie it in a bow or loose knot style in the front to close the jacket or you can use the same pattern with the bow or knot at the back of the jacket. The great thing about a scarf is that it's highly versatile. The key is to avoid making the knot too small. The only down size to making the knot too big is not having enough of a tail hanging beyond the knot, but even that can be tucked within the knot to make a fashion statement. Most women are more concerned with how a scarf is wrapped rather than tied. That concern opens up a world of possibilities. You have the standard use which is the wrapping around the neck to help keep you warm. You have the two tails hanging on either side of your lapel. You can sport it with the reverse of the lapel hang and let the tails drape toward the back. It can be opened up and widely wrapped or pinned over your shoulders much like a shawl or short cape. It can be used as a waistband, a leg band, or a head band. Try using it to accent your favorite purse by tying it to the bottom portion of one of the straps. A scarf allows for total creativity. There are more ways to wear one than you can imagine. |

Is the Women's Purse That You Bought Authentic? 6 Tips Did you just purchased a designer women's purse and now all of a sudden you are questioning if it is really authentic? Then you are in the right place to be. It is well known that there are many regular stores or online stores that sell replica or inspired by products and many of them claim that their products are authentic. 1. Serial Number (Most of the manufacturers use serial numbers. Check if you can find one. If not go through the other tips and if all criteria are fulfilled then you picked a bag which manufacturer that does not provide a serial number). 2. High Quality Material (Just by looking at and touching your new piece, you should be able to tell if the bag is from high quality materials or if the leather feels very thin and cheap). 3. Stitching (Another very effective way to check the authenticity is the stitching. Authentic designer handbags do not miss any stitches. All stitches are the same size and the color matches the main color of the bag. If your new piece is missing even one stitch, the probability that you just got a high end replica is very high). 4. Hardware (Most of the world's famous designers protect their hardware with plastic covers to ensure no scratches during shipping. Don't forget to check if there are no discolorations on the hardware. Hardware should be quality weight pieces only. Any brand should be engraved on the hardware and not just printed on the bag). 5. Price (The price should also give you a hint if the discount bag is authentic or not. You can get absolutely amazing deals online but the price will still be much higher for the authentic bag than you would pay for a replica, knockoff or inspired by products. Keep in mind that you are buying a high quality product). 6. Retail Store (If you are still not sure, one of the best ways to check the authenticity of your women's purse is to take it to the official retail store. Their highly trained professionals will be able to authenticate your new authentic bag and put peace in your mind. |
