him, her eyes gleaming with

Ati stopped crying, Olamide's
story hurt her ears, no it wasn't
her ears she was hurt by the truth.

"Oh?"
Olamide's voice rose angrily
"so you agree that you slept with him? Thanks I assumed
you did after you disappeared
with him on thursday."
She shrugged and looked
outside the window again.
"I don't know what to think Ati."
He moved to the back sit, she
followed suit.
"I only learned about you and
Neo the day we were at Thaba-
bosiu and my source informed me that there was more to
your friendship with him than
what meets the eye."
"Maybe."
"Well is it true?"
He asked the question with cold disdain.
"Yes, I kissed Neo but..."
"Really?"
Luke didn't sound fazed, and,
more worringly, he didn't
sound the slightest bit of interested in her confessions.
"So when can I kiss you?"
"Kiss me?"
She was so shocked by the
request that it took a moment
to gather her senses and in that time her mask dropped
and her vulnerability showed
all too clearly.
"Why on earth would you want
to kiss me? You just broke up
with me." "Why do you think?"
Olamide asked calmly.
"Quite frankly I haven't the
forggiest. I wouldn't have
thought you were the slightest
bit interested in kissing me, it doesn't really go with your
personality."
She was being sarcastic she
knew it but at the same time
she had to defend herself.
"Doesn't it?" He sounded unconcerned.
"Did Neo wake you up from
your sleep? Now you want me?
I guess one man's trash is
another man's treasure."
She could feel him watching her.
"Can I kiss you now? The
rumbling is really not working
dear."
"Get lost, Olamide."
She made to turn away from him but he reached out and
cought hold of her arm, pulling
her back towards him and
holding her against his body.
The close contact of his body
sent a jolt of shock reverberating through her.
The subtle yet familiar scent of
his cologne assailed her
senses, she looked up at him
and couldn't help remembering
that the last time she was that close to Olamide Alabi he had
told her he loved her.
The strange thing was that he
always seemed to have that
effect on her; it was as if he
put some kind of Juju over her as soon as he came too close,
exerted some fascination that
made her long to be closer. She
felt like a lemming drawn
towards the edge of the cliff.
She remembered how long she had waited for his kiss but the
timing was just wrong and his
intentions were not that of
love, he wanted to punish her.
"You could be more
welcoming, Ati." He drawled. His eyes moved
over the softness of her lips
and she felt herself tremble.
"What do you want frome me,
Olamide?"
She asked huskily, wrenching her eyes away from his in the
vain hope of breaking the
sudden weakness invading her
body.
"I've told you already. I want
your permission to kiss you." "And I have told you, I can't."
Olamide shook his head.
"I really think you should
reconsider.
On second thoughts I will drive
you home now." He released her and went back
to the front seat, started the
engine and took off. He
dropped her off at her flat.
"I will expect your call or you
ping, whichever way you decide to contact me about the
kiss."
