My corolla engine is old and has been worked on, hence its struggling to deliver.
I will be going to zuba market to make a purchase of an engine this week.

Please house, advise me on what i need to look out for so as not to be have any regret after everything.

I will appreciate any form of advice please.

My car engine started shorting oil when I did top gasket change, as my car over heated on a road trip to abj when the engine fan stopped working unknowingly to me.
I have been trying to manage the oil shortage situation ever sincs. I top up my oil like every 2 weeks and that came at a cost
I have been using mobile oil for some years now. I relocated, and my new mechanic advised me to switch to a less expensive oil to cut cost since I am planning to replace my car engine by next year.
So, he recommended Conoil SAE 40, which I did.
Ever since my car engine has been smoking bastardly and its been kind of embarrassing to me.
I want to know, if I switch back to Mobile 5W-30, will the smoking stops.
My highly knowledgeable people, kindly advise.
Its a corolla car.

Engines do not just fail. Can you describe what the issues are with your car's engine?

The engine is old and have been worked on severally. Currently, it work well but produces a very loud noise. When in motion and in gear 1, when you throttle down, it produces this knocking sound, but that sound goes away when the gear shift to the next.
Also, recently, it shorts oil a lot, as i have to top up with a 1 liter oil every 2 weeks. It smokes too, when you throttle.

Good evening fellow nairalanders, i am considering changing my corolla 2004 engine, as the current one tends to give me issues too often these days.
A mechanic advised that the engine can be worked with about 70k and it will back to almost perfect, but i have my doubts regards that.
Please, i want to know how much same engine go for, so i can get my self together and make a decision.
Those with price ideas should please assist.
