An Open Letter to His Excellency, Sheriff Oborevwori Governor of Delta State Subject: Light Up Our Communities — A Call for Sustainable Development Your Excellency, I write with deep respect and a sincere commitment to the progress of our dear state and its people. Electricity remains the bedrock of economic development and social advancement. No society can truly thrive in darkness. Across Delta State, particularly within your immediate constituency in the Osubi–Ugolo axis and the wider LGA, the absence of stable and reliable electricity continues to hinder growth, weaken businesses, and limit opportunities for the people. Sir, we acknowledge and appreciate your efforts in providing periodic support to constituents through the distribution of rice and occasional financial assistance. These gestures reflect compassion and responsiveness. However, it is important to emphasize that the people desire more than temporary relief. They seek the opportunity to build sustainable livelihoods for themselves. What they need is an enabling environment where businesses can thrive, and at the center of this is access to consistent electricity. The persistent darkness across Okpe communities raises important concerns that deserve urgent attention. It is difficult to understand how such a critical aspect of development has remained largely unaddressed in a region of such importance. This situation calls for a deliberate and strategic response. We recognize your administration’s efforts in road development, particularly in Osubi. However, development must be inclusive and far-reaching. Communities such as Ugolo, Agbarho, Udu, Oghara, Ovwian, Orerokpe, and surrounding areas also require urgent attention in terms of infrastructure, especially electricity. Sir, light brings more than illumination. It drives development, attracts investment, creates jobs, and restores dignity to communities. It enables small businesses to grow, supports education, strengthens healthcare delivery, and improves overall quality of life. Your Excellency, there have been growing concerns among citizens regarding empowerment and job creation. Sustainable empowerment is not built on intermittent support, but on strategic investments that unlock productivity and independence. Electricity is central to achieving this. You have on several occasions stated that Delta State is financially strong and well-resourced. This assurance is encouraging, but it also raises a critical question. What concrete steps are being taken to address the electricity challenges facing communities across the state? What investments are being made to ensure reliable and accessible power supply for the people? This is a call for a shift towards long-term, impactful solutions that will empower citizens and stimulate economic growth. A focused investment in electricity infrastructure across the state will transform lives and reposition the state for sustainable development. Your legacy will be defined not only by immediate interventions but by the lasting systems you establish that enable people to prosper independently. Your Excellency, your people are hardworking and resilient. They are ready to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state. All they need is the enabling environment, beginning with electricity. Let there be light in Okpe Kingdom. Let there be light in Delta State. Yours faithfully, A Concerned Citizen |

I’m really concerned. Why aren’t these Muslim migrants heading toward wealthy nations like the UAE, Qatar, or Saudi Arabia? Why is their main destination always Europe or America? I honestly pity Europe, it feels like the continent is on a dangerous path. These movements seem very strategic. They might eventually destabilize Europe from within. How many Palestinian refugees have the UAE, Saudi Arabia, or Qatar accepted since the conflict began? |
Oliver made his first court appearance on Thursday, with his bail application adjourned to October 16, 2025. Delta-born investigative journalist Tega Oghenedoro, widely known as Fejiro Oliver, has been remanded in Ogwashi-Uku prison following Thursday’s hearing at the Federal High Court in Asaba. Oliver made his first court appearance on Thursday, with his bail application adjourned to October 16, 2025. He had spent nearly three weeks in detention without trial after his arrest in Abuja, which was reportedly ordered by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator Ede Dafinone over allegations of defamation and cyberstalking. Following his arrest, Oliver was flown on a chartered aircraft to Asaba, where he has reportedly been held incommunicado. His arrest reportedly followed a petition filed by Freeborn Eghagha, an aide to Governor Oborevwori, accusing him of defaming the governor by referring to him as “Governor Amuneke” in a series of critical online reports. https://saharareporters.com/2025/10/09/breaking-nigerian-journalist-fejiro-oliver-remanded-prison-calling-delta-governor

You can’t be serious. What exactly is “TOKS standard” here? Do you think people don’t have sense? It makes no sense to copy details from another car and paste them on a dead one. Please remove that “TOKS standard” from this thing. Autogduru411: |
Beyond Japa: A Call For Dignity, Not Disparagement Nigeria grapples with deeply rooted issues like poor governance, corruption, and a political class that has consistently failed its people. These are valid and important concerns that need to be voiced by Nigerians both at home and abroad. However, these conversations often take a troubling turn, particularly among some in the diaspora, who tend to criticize the country so harshly it seems they're hoping for its failure. This attitude is both counterproductive and unfair. While it's a personal and respectable choice to move abroad for better opportunities, justifying that choice by speaking as if Nigeria is beyond saving belittles the dignity of those who remain and undermines any hope for progress. Criticizing leaders is necessary, but condemning the entire nation serves no constructive purpose. Nigeria's systemic problems are real, but they don't define who we are as a people. Despite the failings of our leaders, Nigerians are resilient, innovative, and hardworking. Constantly portraying the country as doomed erases these qualities and deepens the sense of despair. Instead of cynicism, the Nigerian diaspora should embrace their vital role as partners in national renewal. With their access to global networks, resources, and skills, they are uniquely positioned to make tangible contributions, whether through investment, transferring skills, or supporting community projects. What Nigeria needs is not disdain but solidarity. Ultimately, a stronger Nigeria benefits all of us, no matter where we live. Nigerians everywhere must adopt a more balanced perspective, one that holds leaders accountable without condemning the entire nation. Constructive criticism, informed advocacy, and active contributions to development are the only viable paths to building the Nigeria we all want. A Positive Nigerian. Ovis_again

I'd appreciate some advice on this. I'm planning to upgrade my phone from the Samsung A73, and I'm currently considering two options: a second-hand Samsung S23 Ultra or a brand-new Samsung A56 (recently released). There's roughly a ₦300,000 price difference between them. I'm particularly interested in guidance on battery life, performance, and overall value for money. Is the upgrade to the S23 Ultra really worth it compared to the new A56? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Looking to upgrade my Samsung A73. I'm torn between a second-hand Samsung S23 Ultra and a brand-new Samsung A55 (if you meant A55, as A56 hasn't been released). There's roughly a ₦300,000 price difference. I'd highly value any insights, particularly regarding battery performance, overall user experience, and if the premium of the S23 Ultra is truly justifiable, especially considering it's second-hand versus a new mid-range. I was considering investing in AIM Asset for my kids, but based on what I'm seeing, I wouldn't put a dime into this charade of a company. I have no idea what the SEC is doing about it. Run! !! !!! |
On December 27, 2024, I contacted the call center of one of the international banks in Nigeria to lodge a complaint about an issue with my account. To reinforce my report, I also sent an email to their designated support address. Thankfully, by the end of that same day, the issue was successfully resolved. However, what followed left me deeply concerned. Over the next few days, I began receiving several missed calls from an unfamiliar number. Out of curiosity, I eventually answered the call today December29,2024. The caller introduced herself as a representative of my bank and claimed she wanted to help resolve the issue I had reported earlier. Immediately, I became skeptical. Why would someone from the bank want to resolve an issue that had already been fixed? Shouldn't they have seen the status of my case in their system? My suspicion grew as the caller began asking sensitive security questions. Without hesitation, I ended the call. To ensure my account's safety, I promptly reached out to the bank using the official numbers on their website. The representative I spoke with confirmed my fears: no such call had originated from the bank, as my initial issue was already resolved. Now, here's my biggest concern: how did the fraudulent caller know I had recently contacted the bank? How did they gain access to such specific information about my account issues? This points strongly to a possible insider leak. This experience is a wake-up call. It’s a reminder to everyone to remain vigilant, especially during this festive period when scammers are on the prowl, targeting unsuspecting individuals for their "Happy New Year Funds." Protect yourself by: 1. Always verifying calls and emails through official bank channels. 2. Never sharing sensitive information over the phone, even if the caller claims to be from your bank. 3. Reporting any suspicious activity to your bank immediately. 4. Stay safe, everyone! Scammers are everywhere, but together, we can outsmart them. Stay safe, everyone! Scammers are everywhere |

My own concern is, why Hitech? What has this company accomplished to secure such a massive project? Lagos - Ibadan Road, 127.6km, was given to two major contractors (Berger and RCC), while a 700km coastal road with a rail line, a first of its kind project, was awarded to a relatively unknown company. Naija na wao! Fuethermore, If Nigeria has the resources, why not prioritize fixing our failed roads like Shagamu - Benin, Benin to Warri, Benin - Auchi - Okene - Abuja, Jos - Forest - Keffi/Akwanga, Markudi - Vandekya - Ogoja - Calabar, etc., instead of investing in infrastructure projects that might never materialize? Just like the Ojaokuta steel plant, Aladja Steel plant, and our struggling refineries, it raises questions about how this government's allocate our scarce resources. My 2cent. emkz:
