Children should understand the importance of standing up for themselves. They should be given guidelines for dealing with negative behaviours, such as online and face-to-face name calling. They should understand how actions such as making sexual comments and sharing sexual pictures, either in person or online, may cause shame and affect someone's reputation.

Behaviours that can offend or upset others include sexual insults. These can be verbal, written or communicated by gestures. Name calling is particularly hurtful when a person knows that they belong to a social group that is victimised in society e.g. women, gays, ethnic minorities or social underclasses. The person making the insult often has a sense of superiority and confidence from knowing that they have the general support of society.

Children should be taught when to stand up to bullies and when to ask for support from adults. A bully is not a strong person. A bully feels strong if they succeed in victimising someone who is more vulnerable than they are. Teenagers should be informed about the emotional impact and legal implications of different types of harassment and abuse in relationships.

Teenage girls especially can be highly sensitive to remarks made about their appearance. Men insist that women have sex for their own orgasm as if women have sexual urges like men. Many women of any age translate eroticism into dirty (disgusting or objectionable). This causes women to feel ashamed of their sexual role of facilitating male orgasm. Women in particular need to understand the issues surrounding saying 'no' to sex or other unwanted intimacy. We all need to think about how we deal with rejection, feeling shame and feeling used. Girls can be just as hurtful as boys.

Women can travel alone today if they travel with others. But as soon as a woman is alone with a man (in a taxi or boat for example) she is likely to feel vulnerable. A man could easily threaten her (even passively by leaving her in the middle of nowhere) to force her to hand over her valuables. Some people feel that women should never take the kind of risks that are routine for men. But in civilised societies it is not right to limit an adult's freedom just because there are a few men who pose a danger to civilised society.

Women expect so-called civilised men to restrain themselves. This attitude is evidence that women never experience a sex drive as men do. Women don't understand that sex drive cannot easily be suppressed. Young women rely on the protection of society to tease men by behaving in a provocative manner but never having to face the consequences. This is the equivalent of a gazelle prancing in front of a ravenous lion with the full knowledge that the lion cannot get at it. It is hardly moral or right. Any man who attempts a sexual advance is accused of sexual harassment. Women want the right to tease but not to deliver. Women need to be educated about male sex drive.

Sexual harassment including stalking is most usually (but not always) perpetrated by men with women as the victims. If men are victims of sexual abuse, they may be reluctant to get help because of the shame of being a victim. Many women put up with sexual harassment because they are too embarrassed to complain or they don't know how to deal with the conflict.

The male propaganda suggesting that everyone should love sex is an implicit bullying tactic. There is no 'should' about sexual pleasure. A person either enjoys sexual activity naturally (probably because they are easily aroused) or they don't. Pornography and erotic fiction give young women the impression that they are supposed to engage in activities like MouthAction and that they should enjoy such activities. But these are activities that men enjoy and that men hope (in their fantasies) that women will perform for them.

There is a view that predominantly younger, less experienced women should be encouraged to talk about the orgasms they think they experience. But these are only stories. Women should be educated to accept the acceptability of the reality of their sexuality. But women who have been told that their sexuality involves easy orgasms, may not be willing to relinquish the emotional beliefs that make them feel more sexual than they truly are.

Men dominate almost every aspect of heterosexual society. But men's interest in sex means that their views are especially dominant in any discussion of sexuality. The only way that a woman will succeed in such an environment is by reflecting male beliefs. The only female perspective that is promoted is one that involves women saying what men want to hear. There has to be also a place for the truth about women's sexuality.

Ignoring what someone says is a form of bullying. One person promotes their own point of view thereby implying the invalidity of the other person's until they give up. Once the second person has been silenced, the first person claims victory. Thereafter the first person concludes they are right because no one objects. When someone is trying to keep you happy or they need your support, they may agree with you just to please you. "My husband had an affair about two months ago. Eventually, I allowed him to come and see the kids, and little by little, we began talking again. I can tell that he feels very guilty and embarrassed. He goes out of his way to be accommodating and kind to me. He is basically saying that he wouldn't blame me if I refused to take him back. I've told him that I'm going to take my time in making a decision. Last weekend, the kids and I watched a movie with my husband and they fell asleep. A lot of young ladies these days don't even think about having a career, having an investment, they just rely absolutely on their partners, and so it becomes very difficult for them leave an abusive relationship. Even sometimes men are also been abused.

Signs of Abuse

For those in a toxic relationship, identifying the specific type(s) of abuse can seem daunting. A good place to start is looking for broad and general signs of abuse.

This can include traits of possessiveness and jealousy as well as verbal signs like threats and put-downs. The tell-tale sign of an abusive relationship is, of course, physical and/or sexual violence.

With people now exploring their sexuality more than ever, it can be difficult to decipher whether your partner is exploring a fantasy, or they’re abusing you. During sex and throughout your days, pay attention to their behavior for these toxic traits.

Another sign of abuse is focused on you, the victim. If you find yourself excusing their behavior often or you blame yourself for the way they’re acting all the time, you are likely in an abusive marriage.

In more extreme cases, the victim can experience Stockholm syndrome, which is typically considered as a psychological coping mechanism. If you are experiencing Stockholm syndrome, you are likely to brush off the idea. It helps to see a professional or to reach out to a friend who can help you spot the signs.
Psychological Abuse

Psychological abuse, also known as emotional abuse, is the most difficult to spot as it is very manipulative. If left unchecked, over time the victim will begin to internalize this abuse and they’ll believe it’s true and it’s their fault. Because it’s so elusive and hard to identify, between 50 and 80 percent of adults are at risk of psychological abuse.

Most psychological abuse is used to shame, humiliate, and instill fear into the victim so the abuser can assume power and control. Because the abusers want said control, a good indicator of emotional abuse is the constant knowledge of where you are at all times. This includes tracking you from your phone, controlling where you go, deciding who you hang out with, forcing you to be home at certain times, the list goes on.

Another trick used by psychological abusers is gaslighting. This form of manipulation makes you wonder if an incident or something else was real or not. You will start to question your own sanity, wondering if maybe your abuser is right and perhaps you had just remembered wrong.

Psychological abuse isn’t just limited to these traits and methods, though. Another common trick that psychological abusers use is emotional neglect.

Essentially, they’ll start to ignore you by not communicating with you, perhaps disappearing with no mention, turning others against you. They’ll even attempt to emotionally isolate you from others to maintain control.

They can do this by assassinating your character which would turn your friends away; they’ll try to come in between you and your family, and much more. Doing all this may seem counterproductive on the abuser’s part, especially if they’re shutting you out, but if you have no one to go to except for them, that’s exactly what they want.
Physical Abuse

Physical abuse is the one most often discussed and portrayed in television and film. Just like with psychological abuse, the main goal of the abuser is to gain power and control over the victim. While the methods utilized by an emotional abuser are subtle and hard to detect, those used by a physical abuser are clear and intimidating.

When discussing how the victim feels, in a psychologically abusive relationship, your feelings are sometimes confusing and you tend to blame yourself, painting your abuser as the “good guy”.

With physical abuse, you’ll still wonder if perhaps you are to blame for their behavior, but you’ll also feel afraid of your partner. You may avoid talking about certain things because you don’t want to make your partner angry, you think that you deserve to be mistreated, and in extreme situations, you may even feel emotionally numb.

Physical abusers use tactics utilized by emotional abusers like belittling and they carry similar traits like possessiveness and jealousy, but what sets them apart is that when those methods fail, they get physical. Physical abusers tend to have a bad temper, they threaten you with harm of all extents, they use you for sex, and they can even threaten suicide if you were to leave them.

Another thing to note is that physical abuse follows a cycle: abuse, guilt, excuses, “normal” behavior, fantasizing, and the set-up. If you think you are a victim of physical abuse or you believe you are in an abusive marriage or relationship, refer to this cycle and look at where you are now and how past incidents have played out.
Abuse of Men

While definitely not as common as women with male abusers, men can be the victims. In fact, 29% of straight men have been physically abused by their partners. When discussing emotional abuse, nearly 48% of men have been abused.

Because of the toxic masculinity instilled by the patriarchal society we live in, most men don’t feel comfortable discussing their own mental health, substance abuse, and domestic abuse. Not only do they not feel comfortable discussing these things with others, but they don’t want to admit to themselves that these things are happening to them.

For men, spotting the signs of abuse is the same as if you were a woman. While it may be difficult, it’s time to stop being one of the 830,000 men a year that are victims of domestic abuse.

How jealous would you be if your spouse or partner was regularly car-sharing with a much younger, good-looking business colleague, or exchanging texts with them into the evening? Modern life often involves travel, greater accessibility and flexible hours but those requirements can bring an undercurrent of unease with them.

I was recently chatting with an attractive lady who was feeling jealous of her husband's relationship with his female co-worker. She was half of a successful, professional couple whose children had recently left home to go to university. She regarded herself as fit, possibly slightly overweight, but smart, well-dressed, up-to-date and interesting. However, she was aware that both she and her husband were leading increasingly separate lives and intimacy had pretty much dwindled away to nothing.

She'd noticed her husband dressing smarter, leaving home a little earlier in the mornings, arriving home later in the evenings and had even caught him checking his appearance in the mirror before he left for work!

Some couples try to ensure they have one evening a week for themselves even if they don't actually go out. Some plan an occasional weekend away together or designate their bedroom as their personal retreat. It's important to find a way to asterisk your relationship as worthy of time and attention.

- What is going on with your husband? It's not uncommon for men to hit their mid-forties or early fifties and reflect on what they've missed out on in their lives. They've perhaps had a successful career, supported their family, but now all that's coming to an end. As a counselor, I get a lot of clients who are worried about intimacy and sex. Romance books are a lovely escape from reality, and can help reduce your stress from daily frustrations. And, you can even learn a few tricks to enhance your relationship. The danger comes in if you begin to believe in the fantasy, compare your real-life partner to a fictional character, and become dissatisfied and feel unfulfilled. One of the attractive things about romance heroes is that they do all the work, but in a real-life relationship with a real man, you probably have to get the ball rolling and let him know what you want.
Our culture is saturated with unrealistic depictions of love, relationship and family. From celebrity debacles to overblown movie romances, as well as highly exaggerated depictions and expectations about beauty, romance and sex, the media is bombarding us with images and ideas that are the exact opposite of what works in marriage. Look around at the "beautiful people"-how long do their marriages last, and how happy do they really seem?
When people's expectations for what marriage entails are overblown, they get disappointed and discouraged. Successfully married couples have a more realistic idea that marriage won't be ideal, and partnership and mutual love are things that you need to work on, to build over a number of years. If you are loving and caring of each other, you have a better chance of success in your relationship.
Most couples who come to my counseling practice because of relationship problems report that their marriage lost its romance long ago. It's easy to feel romantic when you live separately and date each other, because every moment spent together is special. From the moment you begin to live together, such romantic moments are no longer automatic. Instead, much of your time together is spent on more mundane things: doing laundry, washing dishes, paying bills, or going to work. Although this can be new, exciting and fun at first, as soon as the initial newness of living together wears off, such everyday things cease to feel exciting and romantic, and you may find yourself feeling worried that your partner no longer cares as much or is as excited to be with you.
Creating Intimacy
Enjoyable sex is an important part of marital life, which helps to create a strong bond that is the most reliable way to safeguard your connection. Fighting happens more often in marriages in which the intimacy and bonding aren't working. Intimacy is the art of making your partner feel understood and accepted. When this feeling is created, barriers fall. Gentle touch, eye contact a gentle sense of humor and the right words all create the atmosphere. Commenting positively on your partner's looks or the day's activities will also help. To reconnect, be sure you are listening to each other and understanding your partner's needs and wants. The most powerful thing you can do to keep a marriage strong is form a partnership, a team, where both parties feel respected, cared about and needed. • Don't get unrealistically focused on appearances. Growing old together means we will eventually show our age. Focus on how you feel about your partner, not on baldness, weight issues, lack of performance ability. You can happily have sex with each other into your dotage, if you learn to accept the changes that come with age. You may no longer be beautiful people, but you can have a lot more love, sex and fun than they do if you are comfortable with your inevitable changes. • Sex is a physical form of communication, and like all other communication, it requires some time. Give yourselves transition time before getting sexual. Don't expect to be able to jump into bed and "get it on". Allow time for quiet conversation, sensual touch, etc. A "quickie" can be lots of fun, but the fun disappears if it becomes your only option.
• For most of us (especially most women), "romance" is important to some degree in encouraging a sexual mood. The relaxed anticipation produced by the right music, soft lights and sweet words makes an ideal atmosphere for intimacy, which leads to verbal and physical affection. Keep in mind that what feels romantic or sexy differs for men and women, so include cues that work for both of you. Many couples find that watching erotic or romantic movies helps set the mood.
• Intimacy is only possible when there is also sufficient personal space. Allow a little distance, regularly. "How can I miss you if you don't go away?" is a humorous way to put it. You need some separate activities, friends and interests to keep your desire for each other fresh. • When you're married and living together, it is too easy to let romance slide. Don't forget to bring home flowers, send cards, create or buy silly little gifts for each other. Tennis.
It is my favorite sport. It is easy and really a good sport for burning calories, because you will have to run while playing and bend to pick up your missed balls. If you don’t have a partner to play with you, you can simply find a flat area near a wall or garage door that you can hit the ball against. Stand 10 to 25 feet away, and alternate forehand and backhand shots. It will force you to hit harder, and you can see how you can do in a row without goofing. Running.
Running is a typical sport that almost every people can take part in. And the muscles that involve in running-legs, butt, core-are the biggest calorie-and-fat burning muscles in your body. On the other hand, the typical runner’s shape is sleek and lean, which many people are going after. While running, get the most out of each stride, swing your arms close to your body, and don’t lean forward. Keep your feet low to the ground.
