My application might be evaluated as a work visa if I click employment.

You can select 'Other' then explain what you want to do and they will assign you a proper category.
They may put you in a short course or visiting visa category. But if you read the contract agreements well, it might be there, another way could be asking your host.

Thank you very much. The contract says "full time employment as scientific researcher". I think "Other" might be the safest option here.
