HERDSMEN FRESH ATTACK IN TURAN TODAY. TRAGIC ESCALATION OF INSECURITY IN JATO AKA COMMUNITY. With deep sorrow and pain, we raise yet another distress call as Turan communities in Kwande LGA suffer another wave of brutal attacks by Fulani herdsmen. Today 3rd March, 2025. Ichembe and Agula communities have been attacked, leading to the tragic loss of innocent lives. The bloodshed continues, and yet, instead of protecting the people, the very security forces deployed to safeguard us are worsening the crisis. It is beyond heartbreaking that after the Fulani terrorists unleashed mayhem on our people, the Nigerian Army stationed in Jato Aka who were supposed to come to our rescue, turned against the victims instead. Reports from the ground confirmed that soldiers brutalized and humiliated our people, adding to the suffering of a community already bleeding. Two people were killed, yet instead of providing security, the army descended on beating and threatening the survivors. 1. Soldiers allegedly warned: “Since you don’t want us to stay in your land, you have seen nothing ye, this is just the beginning.” 2. They went further to verbally abuse the local government chairman and threatened that if they see any Turan person passing through their checkpoint, they would “deal with them.” 3. The army's presence is no longer a symbol of protection but a tool of intimidation and oppression on the people of Jato Aka. Those We Lost Today: With tears, we mourn: 1. Zungunen Aondowase popularly known as (Pilot) and 2. Terdoo Chia May their souls rest in peace and may their deaths not be in vain. This is an urgent call to the Federal Government, Benue State Government, security agencies, and international human rights organizations to intervene before Turan in Kwande Local Government is completely wiped out. Why is the military turning against the people they swore to protect? Why is our government silent in the face of this genocide? How long will we be abandoned to slaughter? 😭😭😭😭 We are in pains 😭😭😭 #JakoVoiceMedia

BENUE’S LOSS: HON. MKEENEM’S RESIGNATION EXPOSES DEPTH OF LEADERSHIP CRISIS By ADIKWU, Samuel Oyikoha. The sudden resignation of Hon. Mkeenem Moses FIMC, CMC, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment, has sent shockwaves through Benue State. This dedicated public servant's departure has left a gaping void in the state's empowerment landscape, sparking concerns about the future of youth development. A Selfless Leader's Journey Hon. Mkeenem's commitment to Benue's youth dates back to the governor's primary elections. As a key strategist and APC Zone A youth leader, he worked tirelessly to ensure Governor Alia's victory, traversing the state and mobilizing support. His unwavering dedication continued throughout the governor's tenure, often at great personal cost. Despite facing challenges, Hon. Mkeenem remained steadfast, prioritizing the governor's success over personal interests. His pivotal role in resolving the rift between Governor Alia and Party Chairman Austin Agada demonstrated his ability to navigate complex political landscapes. Transforming Benue's Youth Narrative Hon. Mkeenem's empowerment initiatives revolutionized Benue's youth landscape through: Community service programs which redirected young minds from thuggery and violence to societal building. Sustainable development projects empowered youths with skills and resources. Philanthropic efforts supported vulnerable communities. Notably, he instituted the "Alia Generation," a voluntary group of youths dedicated to maintaining peace and order in society. This innovative initiative fostered a sense of responsibility and civic engagement among young people. Additionally, Hon. Mkeenem championed the Oil Palm Legacy Project, aimed at making youths productive in agriculture. Through this project: He Provided training and resources for young farmers, Encouraged entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency Enhanced food security and economic growth. Under his leadership, thuggery and violence decreased significantly, replaced by a renewed sense of purpose among Benue youths. A Legacy of Empowerment Hon. Mkeenem's achievements are a testament to his vision: Established youth empowerment programs focusing on education, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. Fostered partnerships with NGOs and private sector organizations to create job opportunities. Mentored countless young leaders, instilling values of integrity and service. The Challenges Ahead Hon. Mkeenem's resignation raises pressing questions: Will Benue find another leader who shares his vision and selflessness? Will thuggery and violence resurface, threatening stability? What becomes of the development initiatives he championed? Will the government take the youths and youth empowerment serious? Amidst all these questions, Benue citizens also demands clarity on What led to Hon. Mkeenem's sudden resignation? Was it the governor's inability to appreciate his dedication? Or was it the inherent contradictions within the government? A Call to Action As Benue navigates this transition, it is crucial to recognize the importance of dedicated public servants like Hon. Mkeenem. His legacy serves as a reminder of the transformative power of selfless leadership. Benue's youths, who have benefited from Hon. Mkeenem's initiatives, must demand continuity of his empowerment programs. The state's future depends on it. The governor and his government must reassure Benue's people of their commitment to youth development and empowerment. In conclusion, Hon. Mkeenem's resignation is a wake-up call for Benue State. It's time to prioritize selfless leadership, youth empowerment, and community engagement. As concerned citizens and lovers of development, let's rally behind Hon. Mkeenem's legacy and ensure Benue's continued progress.

BENUE YOUTHS SHUN PROTEST, SOLICIT FOR ALIA GENERATION YOUTH HOUSE. In Benue State, the name ALIA GENERATION stands for the youths as the Executive Governor of Benue State has come to acknowledge the Youths as the new generation of Leaders by responding effectively and efficiently to their yearnings and aspirations through responsive governance. Responsive governance entails responding efficiently and effectively to people's real needs. This requires a resolve to anchor policies, strategies, programs, activities and resources, taking into account people's expectations, with particular attention paid to local variations and ambitions. When this happens, citizens as well as residents feel that they are valued and respected members of the community. This is the current situation in Benue State since the coming to power of the MASSES OHITTY, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. Some indicators to a responsive governance include descriptive representation; having elected /appointed officials whose demographic characteristics broadly reflect those of their constituents correlates with greater feelings of political influence and engagement. Feeling represented by one's "local officials " has a positive effect on their civic engagement and increases their SENSE OF BELONGING and empowerment. Political participation: political participation can reflect voter's, in this case the youths, own sense of power and autonomy, sense of well-being and political representation. The Benue Youth today is more willing than before to actively participate in the programs and activities of the government. Safety from crime: exposure to crime is often associated with elevated levels of stress, depression and segregation and anxiety especially amongst the youth. It is needless to submit that the Benue Youths of today are more safe from crime because they are less stressful, less depressed and less segregated courtesy of the purposeful leadership in Benue state. The above indicators could readily be associated with the Governor Alia's led administration. Hence we can say that Benue State is blessed to have a responsive leader at the helm of affairs, with the youths as the highest beneficiaries. It is on record that more than 5.5 million people under the age of 50 constitute the world's current population, and play a crucial role in economic stability, ensuring that political structures work for everyone - Benue inclusive. But despite the passion and drive of many young people to make a difference, they were often excluded from decision making especially by successive administrations in Benue State and remain one of the under represented groups in parliament and government appointed offices in Nigeria. The above is a significant problem given that some of the world's toughest challenges disproportionately affect youths, including unemployment, VIOLENT CONFLICT, displacement and insufficient access to Education among other life changing needs. Upon assumption of office, the SPIRITUAL GOVERNOR of Benue State also felt that harnessing the political potential of the Benue Youths and promoting their political participation at all levels of the decision - making process was crucial for peace and development of the state. Recently as some Youths from other parts of the NATION joined the nationwide protest, Benue youths through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment, led by the Benue State Youth Leader Hon. Moses Mkeenem stood strong against the protest with assurance to the Governor through his office Head of Administration/Secretary, Comr Akende Edmond Aondona of their unflinching loyalty and support to the Executive Governor of Benue State for his people oriented policies and programs. Comr Akende while speaking on behalf of the entire Benue youths cited the Benue Palm Project as one out of the many laudable projects of the Alia's administration they were willing to cue in as one among the best strategies to ameliorate Poverty and the spate of Youth restiveness in Benue State. Based on the foregoing, It is obvious that youth participation in Benue politics is yielding tremendous result, hence the appeal by Benue Youths for Alia Generation Youth House (AGYH); A Youth House for training of Benue Youths in Skills and breeding new and young crop of of leaders be swiftly looked into by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Benue State as one of the sure ways to connect and sustain the positive ideals of this new generation of potential skills persons, politicians and political activists in Benue State.

Mkeenem Moses FIMC, CMC has declared that Makurdi, the Benue State Capital is never a hideout for fraudsters and Yahoo boys. Worried by the alarming activities of internet fraudsters and Yahoo boys, the State Youth Leader in a statement on Wednesday, 12th June, 2024 maintained that Makurdi was never a hideout for internet fraudsters and Yahoo boys. He added that such fraudulent activities mostly perpetrated by the youth were already destroying their future and that of their victims. He regretted the death rate of the younger generation, especially young girls believed to be victims of Yahoo Plus. Hon. Mkeenem further urged Benue youths to support the Governor Alia's administration and the EFCC in fighting Cybercrime in the State by being good ambassadors and role models both within the State and in the diaspora.

WE DON’T WANT ANY HIKE IN FEES, STUDENTS CRIES OUT AS SCHOOL MANAGEMENT THREATENS WITH DSS AND SECURITY. on 30th May, 2024 the general and expanded student representatives held a meeting which drew it’s conclusions requesting for a meeting with the management of the university for a diplomatic interface to explain the ambiguities observed in the students user charges as mentioned by the students. The students also understood that hostel accommodation were Increased in the last session on grounds of renovating the hostels and nothing has been done to that effect and yet they told students executives that they were considering increments on some of the hostels which is not right. Also, the students pay students dues as part of tuition fees, these dues are meant to facilitate the running of the activities of the Students’ Union but the management has refused to fund the activities of the union even though students had paid school fees for the last session instead we were told in a meeting with management that our monies has been borrowed and will be paid back when students pay fees for this semester. We had written several letters and tried having an interface with the management to understand all these. During the break management met with our executives and when these issues were raised they assured of working in harmony with the union in seeing that if increments are to be made we will be told and carried along respectively but that wasn’t done just for us to observe inconsistent increments in tuition fees, we also tried meeting with the management which they fixed a meeting and later said they were going to reschedule the meeting only for us to see a notice of the dissolution of the Students’ Union by the Dean of Student affairs this act is unconstitutional because going also by our constitutional provisions it is the students in a meeting ( called CONGRESS) that can dissolve their leadership. The management went on to make statements of setting up a caretaker committee which also going by the Students’ Union constitution it is the CONGRESS that has the rights to set up a caretaker committee after dissolution of her leadership, when we replied the public stating this facts yesterday the Dean of Student Affairs also brought out a notice of setting up a Student Independent Electoral Committee which is also illegal. As students we believe so much in the current government led by his excellency Alia and we know he understands the pains of a common man who is going through so much In pursuit of education and we hope that the governor will come to our aid. As students who love and protect the image our university has earned over the years, we are not interested in sabotaging that image and as a result does not have the interest of engaging In Peaceful demonstrations but believe that our governor and other relevant bodies can come to our aid against this evil act. If this is allowed to be done then a lot of students may drop out of school which is not part of the reasons why the school was established. As a concern student I know I have not stated it all but we are been treated unjustly and trying to speak out is an offense to our formators. In an attempt to hold a student congress police officers and DSS were sent to arrest us yesterday but because this officers understood the law we were able to provide sections of our constitution that permits our gathering and instead they stood around us until we had our congress and we bid them farewell then dismissed. It is our prayers that the governor and relevant authorities come to our rescue. May God help us. The students demands are: 1. They should be no increments in students user charges 2. The management should renovate the hostels as assured. 3. The Students’ Union budget should be funded 4. The dissolution of the students leadership both cabinet and parliament by the Dean of students is unconstitutional and holds no ground. 5. All electoral processes introduced are unconstitutional 6. They should stop sending people to threaten the Students’ union leaders. Aluta Continua ✊

Benue state government/active administration. Urgent request for Government Intervention on Student User Charges and Tuition Fees in Benue state university markurdi. We hope this letter finds you well. We are writing to draw your immediate attention to the pressing issues facing students on our campus regarding user charges and tuition fees. As concerned members of the student community, we feel it is crucial to highlight the financial burdens these charges impose and to seek the government's urgent intervention to alleviate this growing crisis.Over the past few years, there has been a significant and continuous increase in tuition fees and additional user charges for various essential services such as acceptance fee and other administrative costs. This escalating financial pressure is causing severe strain on students and their families, many of whom are already struggling to manage the costs of higher education. The consequences of these financial burdens are manifold: Increased Dropout Rates: Many students are forced to abandon their studies due to their inability to meet the financial demands, which undermines their future prospects and the overall educational attainment in our community.Mental Health Issues: The stress and anxiety stemming from financial insecurity are contributing to a rise in mental health issues among students. This situation not only affects academic performance but also has long-term impacts on the well-being of our youth.Inequality in Education: High tuition fees and user charges disproportionately affect students from low-income backgrounds, thereby exacerbating existing inequalities and hindering social mobility. In light of these urgent issues, we respectfully urge the government to consider the following measures: Review and Regulate Tuition Fees: Implement policies to cap and regulate tuition fee increases to ensure that higher education remains affordable for all. Subsidies and Financial Aid: Increase funding for scholarships, grants, and financial aid programs to support students in need and reduce the dependency on student loans. Reduction of User Charges: Mandate educational institutions in Benue state to minimize or eliminate non-essential user charges and ensure transparency in the use of any collected fees. Support for Mental Health Services: Provide additional resources to enhance mental health services on campus to support students dealing with financial stress and other related issues. Addressing these concerns requires swift and decisive action from our government! we mean this current active administration by taking these steps, we can ensure that higher education remains accessible and equitable, fostering a brighter future for all students.we are confident that with your leadership and commitment, we can make significant strides towards resolving these critical issues. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We look forward to your positive response and swift action. Sign Benue state university Student leaders.
