Better because i haven't seen any meaningful thing executed by his government though paying salary is not an achievement. it just because Nigeria is a dysfunctional entity that's why we celebrate paying salaries as an achievement.
I will make another thread outlining his Works and positive policies….. NIGERIAN CORRECTIONAL SERVICE SEEKS BENUE GOVT'S SUPPORT TO REHABILITATE INMATES

The Controller of Corrections, Benue State Command, Makurdi, Mrs Mary Oche, on Monday sought the support of the Benue State Government to train and equip inmates especially youths to become better citizens.

She also solicited support for the command to start a National Open University (NOUN) center which according to her requires ten (10) computers and a room for NOUN staff to stay and train inmates.

The Controller made the requests in her office when she received the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment, Hon. Mkeenem Moses, who was on a familiarization visit to seek synergy with the parastatal to curb criminality and reposition the youth of the state.

The SSA appealed to the controller to consider youths who have been in the custody of the service over time so that they would be reformed and rehabilitated to serve the society better.

In a response, Mrs Oche expressed readiness to synergize, noting that the youths are leaders of tomorrow and if they are not trained well, they can't be leaders.

"Most of them are with us in the yard awaiting trial", the controller disclosed, saying "our work is to reform, rehabilitate and then reinstate them back to the society".

She made it known that the Correctional Service has been training inmates in vocations like carpentry, hairdressing, shoe making, barbing, tailoring etc but their major constraint is lack of tools.

"If those tools are there, by the time those people finish their training, they will come back outside more fortified.

"We can get a shop for them and make them stay there and send people to visit them to see how they are growing. But we have this constraint of not having most of these tools that will help them and it will go a long way and anyone of them who goes to that centre will come back being a better person to be self reliant", Oche expressed optimism.

She further appealed that the service should be empowered to be able to train its officers so that even when the government is not there, they would train the inmates and equip them for self reliance so that they will not relapse to criminality for survival.

In the area of education, the controller said they have been synergizing with the National Open University and they have graduated about 2000 inmates and if empowered, they will establish a NOUN centre of their own, adding that some inmates who have not written their WAEC will also be trained to take the examination at the centre.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a plaque to Hon. Mkeenem by the controller as a mark of honour and appreciation of the State Government's support.

ALIA'S AIDE MADE NAPTIP AMBASSADOR, GIVES RED CARD TO HUMAN TRAFFICKERS

The senior Special Assistant to Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment, Hon. Mkeenem Moses, FIMC, CMC, today issued a red card to human traffickers in Benue state after he was declared an Ambassador of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) at the Zonal Command, Makurdi, Benue State.

Hon. Mkeenem who was at the Zonal Command office to seek collaboration with the agency to end human trafficking which according to him affects mostly the youth and children said those practising modern slavery in the form of human trafficking should stop the heinous act or be ready to leave the state now that NAPTIP is working harmoniously with the Benue State Government.

The SSA disclosed that he would soon start community engagement that will carry along the youths and traditional rulers to enable him know how to empower the Benue youth appropriately.

He commended the Zonal Commander, Bai Gloria Iveren, and her able men for ensuring that Benue people enjoy peace.

In her remarks, the Zonal Commander, Gloria Bai, appreciated Hon. Mkeenem for thinking wise to seek partnership with NAPTIP on behalf of the state government, revealing that partnership is one of the five key strategies apart from policy, prevention, protection and prosecution used by the agency to combat trafficking.

She solicit support from the state government to be able to carry out massive sensitization in the zone which covers five states.

The Zonal Commander advised Benue people to be careful in giving out their children to people either to be trained or to serve as house girls and boys, lamenting that most of such children are suffering a lot in those houses and they end up being trafficking victims.

She stressed the need to collaboratively fight human trafficking in Benue in order to redeem the image of the state.

Bai presented relevant documents to Hon. Mkeenem during the familiarization visit to equip him with the information needed to make policies towards eradicating the menace of human trafficking in Benue State.

Alleged Anti-party Activities: Ogbadibo APC Disowns State Chairman as Benue Youth Call for His Resignation

By Amos Aar

The youth wing of Benue State on Saturday called on Comrade Austin Agada, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to resign his position owing to alleged anti-party activities.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment, Hon. Mkeenem Moses, made the call on behalf of the state youth wing at a press conference in his office which he jointly addressed with the APC local government secretary of Ogbadibo local government, Comrade Isaiah Abah.

Mkeenem accused Agada of instigating and mobilizing 23 APC local government chairmen to protest against the appointment of local government caretaker committees by the State Governor, Hyacinth Alia.

The 23 APC local government chairmen had on Thursday at a meeting in Makurdi chided the Governor for not involving them and other party's stakeholders in the recent appointment of caretaker committees whose names are still before the State House of Assembly for confirmation. The LG party chairmen threatened to stage a protest against the governor over the issue both in Makurdi and Abuja.

Hon. Mkeenem described the alleged anti-party activities by Comrade Agada as unfortunate and capable of causing crisis, pointing out that he had interrupted the conduct of the speakership election of the 10th Benue Assembly earlier in July, 2023 and has been interfering with all issues including those not related to politics.

"The youth wing of Benue State therefore call on Comrade Austin Agada to step aside for lack of leadership qualities so that a competent person will takeover and pilot affairs of the party effectively in order to foster peace, progress and unity

"Again, the fallacy by the APC local government chairmen instigated by Agada that Governor Alia is not working with the party is also unfortunate and condemnable. The Governor has been working round the clock to build the broom party as demonstrated in the full support he rendered during the recent stakeholders meeting of the APC in the state", the SSA stated.

Also speaking during the joint press briefing, Comrade Abah Isaiah, the APC secretary in Ogbadibo local government where Comrade Austin Agada hails from, backed the youth wing of Benue State, saying they were not in support of what Agada was doing and added voice for his resignation.

"I'm here to add my voice to what the SSA on Youth Mobilization has said here today.

"We, the APC from Ogbadibo local government area and the good people of Ogbadibo local government area, we are not in support of what Comrade Austin Agada is doing and we choose to say it here clearly that we have distanced ourselves from whatever he is doing against the leadership of the government of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

"The choice or the decision of the caretaker chairmen in Ogbadibo local government area went down well with us except for that of the vice-chairman. The lady that has been nominated to be the vice caretaker committee of Ogbadibo local government area, Charity Okpanachi, is not a member of our party.... To make matters worst, she do not [sic] hold a voter's card. How can you appoint such a person to be in the caretaker committee? The same person is nominated by Comrade Austin Agada. So, if today he is accusing the governor of anti-party activities, what is more anti-party than that?", Abah asked.

He continued: go to Ogbadibo local government and ask Comrade Dan Onjeh who was the senatorial candidate of our party how he lost that election. Who chaired the anti-party activities that lent his slot to senator Moro? Whatever you heard senator Moro say yesterday, I want to tell you point blankly that it was a collaboration from his team and those who did anti-party in his favor.

"Ask Hon. Philip Agbese who is the House of Representatives member for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo federal constituency what was his experience with Comrade Austin Agada in the last election. We all know, he was out there supporting the candidature of Aida Nath, the PDP candidate. These are verifiable facts.

"I want to tell the Governor that whatever has to do with Ogbadibo local government, he should continue to deal with the leader of the party in that local government, his commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Odoh Ugwu. Hon. Odoh Ugwu, I believe he is the number one person that can protect the interest and has always protected the interest of the governor in that local government", Abah stressed.

Politics / Benue Youth Wing Calls For Apc State Chairman’s Resignation Over Anti-party. by Oyikoha(m): 6:54pm On Dec 02, 2023
TEXT OF PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO GOVERNOR HYACINTH ALIA OF BENUE STATE ON YOUTH MOBILIZATION & EMPOWERMENT, HON. MKEENEM MOSES FIMC, CMC, DECEMBER 2, 2023:

APC STATE CHAIRMAN, COMRADE AUSTIN AGADA, SHOULD RESIGN

Protocols.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press. Welcome to this important press conference on a very disturbing issue that is threatening the peace and security of Benue State.

The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Austin Agada, had on November 30, 2023 mobilized the 23 LG chairmen of the party to protest against the appointment of LG Caretaker Committees simply because his preferred candidate in Ogbadibo local government area was not picked, note that person he nominated  for the position of vice chairman was not a party member and has no voters card. All the appointed local government caretaker committees are all qualified and registered members of our great party APC .

As leader of the party, Comrade Agada was supposed to use appropriate channels to seek redress even if he was aggrieved rather than resort to protest that will culminate into violence.

Recall that this same Comrade Agada had instigated crisis to mar the peaceful conduct of the speakership election of the 10th Benue Assembly, a misconduct he later apologized and promised not to repeat. But Agada is at it again. He has been interfering with all activities even when such issues are not related to politics and within his purview just to cause crisis.

The youth wing of Benue State therefore call on Comrade Austin Agada to step aside for lack of leadership qualities so that a competent person will takeover and pilot affairs of the party effectively in order to foster peace, progress and unity .

Again, the fallacy by the APC local government chairmen instigated by Agada that Governor Alia is not working with the party is also unfortunate and condemnable. The Governor has been working round the clock to build the broom party as demonstrated in the full support he rendered during the recent stakeholders meeting of the APC in the state.

Let it be on record that tangible projects are ongoing in Benue and the people are happy with Governor Hyacinth Alia who has been paying salaries and pension regularly and promptly since assumption of office. Agada is not a Deputy Governor of Benue State, he cannot be an alternative to the Governor and as such should he not be running a parallel administration.

Thank you all.

Crime / DRUG ABUSE: HON. MKEENEM COLLABORATES NDLEA TO CURB DRUG ABUSE, SOCIAL VICES. by Oyikoha(m): 2:31pm On Nov 30, 2023
HON. MKEENEM COLLABORATES NDLEA TO CURB DRUG ABUSE, SOCIAL VICES.

As part of efforts to curtail drug abuse and its attendant criminality amongst the youth in Benue communities, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment, Hon. Mkeenem Moses, FIMC, CMC, today established a robust synergy with the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Benue State Command.

Speaking during a familiarization visit to the state commander of the agency, Esther Musa Lami, the youth leader attributed most cases of criminality, banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery to the effect of drug abuse and stressed the need to curb the menace.

In her response, the NDLEA State Commander thanked Hon. Mkeenem for his timely visit and for acknowledging the remarkable strides of the agency in the state which she said has reduced drug abuse significantly in the state.

She expressed optimism that with the existing partnership and collaboration between the NDLEA and the office of the SSA on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment and the Benue State Government at large, awareness would be created adequately for youths to desist from drug abuse and the dealers will be discouraged from the illicit business.

She disclosed that the NDLEA had been longing to bring the youth together to create awareness but all attempts proved abortive. She however impressed that the state youth leader has provided a credible platform to achieve the aim.

Lami who disclosed that the NDLEA also rehabilitates drugs victims, pleaded with the Governor of Benue State His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to help set up a new standardize rehabilitation structure for the agency to enable them rehabilitate drug victims efficiently.

The commander pointed out some harmful drugs like Indian Hemp-Igbo, Ikya, Monki tail which is mixed with Ogogoro and other dangerous concoctions, Amphetamine eyes, Cocaine, Spheno, Tramadol, Disapam, Codeine etc that have caused a lot of damage to addicts and should be avoided.

Also speaking, Deputy Commandant in charge of Operations, John Abua, lauded the initiative of Hon. Mkeenem and lamented that many youths take the drugs for fun but end up becoming uncontrollable to their parents, adding that they steal and even rape women.

Protocols.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press,
I appreciate your presence here today as we discuss yesterday's triumph of His Excellency, Rev. Fr Dr Hyacinth Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, at the Court of Appeal. Yesterday, November 20, 2023, the court ruled in favor of Governor Alia, affirming his victory over the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Hon. Titus Uba, in the last gubernatorial election.
Allow me to extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency on this resounding victory. We pray that this unnecessary distraction is put behind us so that His Excellency can focus on achieving significant progress under his leadership as the governor of Benue State.
I would like to commend the judiciary for upholding the mandate that the good people of Benue State overwhelmingly bestowed upon Governor Hyacinth Alia. All these distractions must be put behind for the Governor to effectively deliver on the promises he made during his campaign.
Governor Alia has already started on a positive note as evident in his remarkable achievements so far, which include timely payment of workers' salaries on the 25th of every month, payment of pensioners and providing the youth of Benue with hope through his progressive initiative of training ten thousand (10,000) youths in ICT, thereby ensuring their self-reliance and gainful employment. Furthermore, the ongoing construction of 16 township roads across the Makurdi metropolis stands as a testament to the Governor's commitment to infrastructure development.
As media practitioners, you are well-informed about the various developmental projects initiated by Governor Alia for the betterment of the state. You are also aware of the forthcoming empowerment programs for the youth and women of Benue, highlighting the Governor's dedication to fostering inclusive growth.
I therefore urge you, Benue youths, to remain focused and lend your unwavering support to our amiable Governor. His commitment to revitalizing the state, which was previously plagued by neglect and mismanagement, is evident. Governor Alia deserves our support as he continues to make remarkable strides towards the progress of Benue State.
Thank you all for your presence today, and may we all be blessed by the divine as we strive for a brighter future for Benue State.

TEXT OF PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO GOVERNOR HYACINTH ALIA OF BENUE STATE ON YOUTH MOBILIZATION & EMPOWERMENT, HON. MKEENEM MOSES FIMC, CMC, NOVEMBER 9, 2023.

Protocols.

Gentlemen of the Press, I welcome you all to this press conference, called today to address a pressing issue that has been plaguing Benue State, the rise in reported cases of alleged genital theft. It is with great concern that we have observed the formation of criminal groups amongst some of our youth, who have been spreading false rumors about penis snatching. These rumors have caused panic and have led to mob action and the mistreatment of innocent individuals.

We want to condemn these barbaric and criminal acts in the strongest possible terms, to say despite the earlier warning issued by the Benue State Police Command on these incidents, it has continued to occur.

We want to emphasize that there have been no reported cases of missing joysticks in our state. The dissemination of such false information is not only misleading but also fosters violence and puts innocent lives at risk. We will not tolerate this any longer.

I want to make it clear that we will collaborate with the security agencies to take immediate action henceforth to arrest those who raise such false alarms, torture and rob innocent persons within Benue State. There is no case of a missing penis in our state so far.

This act of cruelty cannot be overlooked to linger under the administration of His Excellency Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Alia who is working round the clock to end all forms of insecurity in Benue State.

Although we are against criminality, let it be on notice that, the rising cases of jungle justice in the state are becoming worrisome and the youths are advised to desist from it.

We want to remind the youth that programs are in the pipeline to ensure that Benue youth are positively engaged in the numerous programs the Alia Government has in stock for the youth.

Immediate actions will be taken to apprehend those responsible for spreading these false rumors and engaging in acts of violence. We are very optimistic that Security operatives will arrest and detain individuals perpetrating these crimes.

I extend my gratitude to the members of the press for their presence at this conference, your role in disseminating accurate information to the public is invaluable. Together, let us work towards putting an end to these baseless rumors and restoring peace and harmony in our beloved Benue State.

Thank you, and may God bless us all.
