BREAKING NEWS: ACCOLADES AS ALIA GENERATION CENTRAL YOUTH APPREHENDS KWANDE LG LIVESTOCK GUARD COMMANDER FOR COLLOBORATING WITH KIDNAPERS TO EXTORT #3.6M FROM ADIKPO BUSINESS MAN The Alia Generation Central Youth Leaders otherwise known as the Audacity Movement Leaders under the leadership of the State Youth Leader, Hon. Mkeenem Moses FIMC, CMC yesterday, 7th May, 2024 apprehended the Commander of Livestock Guard in Kwande LGA, Mr Teryange Terkende for his repeated acts of collobarating with kidnappers to extort from Mr Ade Agbo amounting to 3.6M. You may recall that the Kwande LG Livestock guard commander has severally threatened Mr Ade Agbo, a Garri merchant based in Adikpo that kidnappers from Katsina-Ala (Shitile) are planning to come and abduct him. Therefore he would demand that Mr Ade should give him money to go and pacify the acclaimed kidnappers in order to forestall the supposed attacks on him and his family. The livestock Commander has used this severally to extort huge amounts from the business man who out of frustration decided to alert the Alia Generation Central Youth about his ordeal. For emphasis, in the first instance, the livestock guard commander collected #1.5 m. In the second, he collected N1m. And N500,000 the other day. So even yesterday, the Commander had arranged to come and collect yet another money from Mr Ade for the settlement of the supposed Shitle kidnappers. But before he would arrive at Mr Ade's place, the Alia Generation Central Youth leaders who had already been intimated of his plan had positioned to apprehend him in the scene. So on the arrival of the livestock guard commander, Mr Ade gave him #100, 000 with the promise to add him more money at a later time. So when he returned to collect the balance the Alia Generation Central Youth Leaders had already positioned to apprehend him just as they did. It will interest the public to know that Mr Terkende has since been handed over to the Police for proper investigation and prosecution. Reacting, the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Benue State / State Youth Leader, Hon. Mkeenem Moses FIMC, CMC thanked the Executive Governor of Benue State for giving Benue Youth the opportunity to contribute their quota towards ameliorating insecurity challenges in the State and reassured the Benue State Government and the masses of the Alia Generation Central Youth Leaders commitment to helping Security agencies in stemming all forms of criminality across the State. He finally commended the Alia Generation Central Youth leaders for the job Weldon and urged them to maintain the tempo as the Executive Governor of Benue State was already working round the clock to empower them for effective community service delivery at their various jurisdictions. MKEENEM ADDRESSES FACEOFF BETWEEN THE IGBOS AND THEIR HOST COMMUNITY YOUTH IN GBOKO LGA, BENUE STATE. By Akende Edmond Aondona The Benue State Youth Leader as well as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment / State Youth Leader, Hon. Mkeenem Moses FIMC, CMC, on the 5th day of May, 2024 resolved the faceoff between the Igbos and their host community in Gboko LGA. In a move that earmarked him the title "PEACE AMBASSADOR" in the eyes of all whom witnessed his peace effort", The State Youth Leader indeed demonstrated uncommon wisdom by bringing all parties together to ensure that unity and peace doesn't elude Youths from the host community and their visitors. Further preaching peace, the State Youth Leader reiterated the need for peaceful coexistence between the Youth from the host community and the Igbos inhabiting in the LGA. He stressed that, "no meaningful development will ever thrive in an environment where crisis takes the center stage" Therefore, urged both parties to sheath their swords and give peace a chance. The State Youth Leader finally maintained that the Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia's administration has zero tolerance for any faceoff and warned all principal characters in the recent faceoff between the Igbos and Youths from their host communities in Gboko from distracting innocent people inhabiting in the community and the Government of the day with unnecessary differences that will rather portray Gboko as not peaceful. He added that in Gov Alia's time as the Executive Governor of Benue State, the ancestral home of Tiv Nation must remain peaceful and development will surely not elude Gboko for all whom may be willing to invest in Gboko to enjoy their stay and their businesses.

BENUE STATE TO LAUNCH OWN SECURITY OUTFIT BEFORE MAY ENDING …AS BENUE APC STAKEHOLDERS PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON GOV. ALIA Wednesday, May 1st, 2024 Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has said the state government will launch its own local security outfit that will consist of ten thousand youths before the end of May, 2024, to complement the efforts of the other security agencies in tackling security challenges bedeviling the state. Governor Alia stated this on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, during the Stakeholders Meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at Government House, Makurdi. The Governor who appreciated the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the security agencies in securing the country and the state, said the launch of the State owned security outfit will aid in securing Benue communities, enabling farmers to access their farm lands without fear. He said his administration is already working towards procuring Hilux vans and motorcycles that will be used by the security outfit to access the nooks and crannies of the state. On the reason for the stakeholders meeting, the Governor said it became necessary to enable him brief the members of the party on the plans the government has in place to arrest the security challenge, adding that the government had written to the Commissioner of Police, intimating him of the necessity and urgency of the meeting, saying the commissioner gave the go ahead for the meeting before it was convened, especially as the ban on political gatherings is still in force in the state. He informed the stakeholders that some enemies of the state had gone to invite unknown gunmen to come into Benue and destabilize its peace, but that the government has been able to push the invaders back to where they came from, and will continue to do so until they are all gone, to enable the farmers return to farm to ensure food security for the state. He explained however, that some local government areas such as Kwande, Ukum, Logo, Gwer East, Gwer West, Guma, Apa, Agatu, are still affected by the attacks, but that the state government will not rest on its oars until the state becomes much safer. Speaking on some of his achievements in office, the governor said his administration has made tremendous efforts in almost all the sectors, including the construction of rural and urban roads, assuring that he will do more to make Benue a greater state. He said, even though the government has made a lot of impact in the Health sector, with the recruitment of over 400 Specialists and non Specialists Staff at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, it still intends to revamp both the primary and secondary healthcare systems across the state, adding that the School of Nursing will also be re-opened, with the government paying half of the tuition fees for students of Benue indigenes who will be returning back there to study. He also intimated of his administration’s plan to reintroduce scholarship award to students of the state, encourage skills acquisition programmes for the youths as well as to encourage the study of science related courses. While appreciating the federal government for the award of the Overpass at Wurukum roundabout, the governor said over 50 other road networks have also been awarded by the state government across the state, and are to be completed within 12 months. He said although some people are not happy that his administration is doing things differently from the past, he will continue to ensure the right thing is done for the overall good of the state. He appreciated the stakeholders and the entire leadership of the party for always supporting his administration, calling on the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) to fast track the process for the conduct of the local government elections in the state. He insisted that the party in the state remains united under the leadership of the acting state chairman, Hon. Benjamin Omakolo, and is on the right track to develop Benue, warning those trying to destabilize the state with divisive comments to stay clear as he will not allow anyone to destabilize the government, including those who served the state in the past. Earlier in his welcome address, the acting State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue, Hon. Benjamin Omakolo, appreciated the governor for his continued support and leadership to both the party and the state, insisting that there is no disunity in the party under his watch, assuring that he will continue to promote unity, fairness and collaboration with party faithful and stakeholders ahead of the local government elections in the state. In their separate remarks, Senator Barnabas Gemade, responding on behalf of Zone A elders and stakeholders, Hon. Hinga Biem for Zone B, Hon. Nelson Alapa for Zone C, Scholastica Ben Sough for the Women, Adah Nath for the youths, Hon. Philip Achua for Benue state ALGON as well as Hon. Saater Tiseer for the Members of the Benue State House of Assembly, in appreciating the governor for his developmental strides in the state, passed a vote of confidence on him, urging him to continue to do his best for the overall interest of Benue and it's people. In his Vote of thanks, the Deputy Governor, Barr Sam Ode, also said he is solidly behind the governor, insisting that even if there is any impeachment attempt, he will not avail himself to be used to succeed the governor. He assured the people of Zone C that the administration of Governor Alia has a lot of good plans for the zone, urging them and the entire people of the state to continue to support the government for more development. BENUE YOUTHS ARE NOT THUGS- ALIA Saturday, April 27th, 2024 Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has called on those discrediting the youths of the state by calling them thugs, to immediately apologize and desist from such. The governor made the call in Government House Makurdi, on Friday, April 26th, 2024, when different youth groups came out in their numbers to welcome him back from an official trip to the United States of America. Addressing the groups, the governor said it was unfair of anyone to tag the hardworking young people of the state as thugs, insisting that such derogatory terms give the entire state a bad name, saying the administration places relevance on everybody in the state and will take it up to those trying to paint the state and it's people bad. “Any comment that does not go well with the image of the state and its very honourable individuals, this administration will take it up to you. When you see young people supporting this administration or working hard for the growth and development of Benue State, do not call the youths thugs. Whoever must have called the youths of the state thugs, first of all, I will like that person or those persons to withdraw that public statement. “The youths of the state have suffered in the past so much that they are now gaining traction on sanity and development, and I wouldn’t want anyone to pocket them and have them stigmatized. If you don’t understand who a thug is, just shut up. Benue youths are thriving and are quite concerned about what happens here in the state and I will like everybody to honour them and to respect them.” While thanking the youths for standing firm, and for always supporting his administration, the governor informed them that he was away in the United States of America to look for ways that will enable his administration chart a new course for Benue, especially as the state was disconnected from the International stage, particularly in the last 8years. “Benue State was no longer on the International radar, and with the new Sherriff in town, we needed the whole world to know that Benue State is here; Benue State is the real deal and Benue State is the home for development. And with the way we have charted it now, Benue state is going to be a place where a number of states will be coming to enquire about what is happening here so that they take it back to their various states." He said Benue was amongst the 19 Northern states that were invited to USA by the United States Peace Institute in collaboration with establishments here in Nigeria, to rub minds and chart a way forward on the insecurity challenge the Northern states are wrestling with, and to see how peace can return to those states. According to the governor, the meetings were successful and his administration will apply the solutions proffered to see how the security challenge can be curbed down in the state. He urged the people of the state to cooperate with the security agencies, charging the youth not to allow themselves to be used by anybody for their selfish interest and to also shun vices such as cultism, yahoo, kidnapping, as according to him, such have no place in the State. He cautioned those making divisive statements to desist, saying his administration considers peace as paramount and as such, will not allow anyone irrespective of status to disrupt peace in the state, especially as his administration understands what peace can do for the state. “This is why I cannot accept anyone, whether you are a former governor, or whether you are a civil servant serving currently, or whether you are doing your business somewhere in Benue, or you are trying to engage on your farm somewhere. "If you are a former governor, concentrate on where you are. If you don’t have anything positive to contribute to Benue, shut up. Because you did you part, your terms came and it is over, therefore you must give peace a chance. You must allow this administration to carry out what we promised the people that we were going to carry out. "It is very imperative to me that if you are in the state, know exactly what you are saying. Criticisms are welcome for me and my administration but check your facts. If you serve your term and it is over, you cannot sit in some corner and destabilize this administration. It is not acceptable,’ the governor stated. On youth employment, the governor said that already, some establishments such as the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) have started employing, and it will be a continuous process with many other establishments to follow. On the allegations by Comrade Festus Usifo, the President of Trade Union Congress (TUC) that Benue and several other states have not made the welfare of their workers a priority, the governor urged Usifo to cross check his facts before going public, insisting that his administration has not deviated from it's commitment with the workers. He pleaded with filling station owners in the state to make PMS available to buyers, and not to cause artificial scarcity. In their separate remarks, the groups promised to continue to support the Alia led administration, especially as the governor has started laying a firm foundation to take the state to enviable heights. OUR TARGET IS TO EXPAND THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR IN THE STATE-ALIA Friday, April 26th, 2024. Benue state Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has said the target of his administration is to expand the Agric and Agro business sector in the state, with the introduction of modern agricultural production methods. The governor stated this while addressing newsmen at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in the early hours of Friday, April 26th, 2024, shortly after his return back from the country from an official trip of the United States of America. Governor Alia who expressed his happiness to be finally back home to continue with the business of governance, added that his administration is also looking at the processing industry to stop post-harvest wastages incurred by the farmers in the state. “Our pitches in the United States of America were primarily, on the productivity of our state including agriculture and the modernization of it. We as a government are strictly looking at the expansion of Agric and Agro-business in the state. Our next phase of this shift will probably be the processing industry. We usually incur post-harvest wastages. So we will make a shift where the farmers also gain, and we also are able to gain as a state.” Speaking on the visit generally, the Governor said he and many of his colleague governors from the North had met with the Nigerian Professionals' Network, where fruitful discussions were held for the overall good of their various states. He added that they also met the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, who understands the backward nature of Benue as a state, and has made it a priority to ensure that Benue is no longer cut off from the national mix. “A number of fronts took me to the United States, primarily Washington DC and we achieved a number of things. Our initial meeting was with the Nigerian Professionals’ Network; a network that makes business pitches for business groups, including the Nigerian leadership in business. It was a very productive trip overall. Two governors were privileged to be there at their own invite (myself and the governor of Niger State). “Our second meeting was with the United Nations under the leadership of the Deputy Secretary General, Her Excellency, Amina Mohammed, who remains very gracious to the entire nation of ours. She has shown a lot of interest in Benue. She understands how backward we have been. She understands much of our cut-off from the national mix. So it remains her priority to ensure that the state goes back in line and what is ours, comes back to us,” the governor explained. Explaining further, the Governor said the climax of the entire visit to the States dwelled on the peace and security of the people of Northern Nigeria, and the models needed to apply in order to achieve lasting peace in the region and the country as a whole. “The pivot of the entire business to the United States dwelled much on Nigeria’s 19 Northern states on matters relating peace, insecurity and which other models we can apply to ensure that peace returns. It is of note to understand that what is more sustainable, what is more lasting and what is more quite achievable is just peace on the round table. With guns and guns, there are some limitations. But when you make it about a round table, with different ways of getting the actual answer to the same question, it helps more and that is one huge take home.” On what the visit means for the state, the governor described it as a huge success, saying the state will know and understand the benefits of the trip once the entire entourage returns back to Benue. “I don’t want to preempt what our team will bring back for us but it is not going to be nothing less than four impressive and positive items for the state. They were very productive, holding side meetings for the overall good of the state,” the governor revealed. Sir Tersoo Kula, MNIPR, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State.

TEXT OF PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO GOVERNOR HYACINTH ALIA OF BENUE STATE ON YOUTH MOBILIZATION & EMPOWERMENT / STATE YOUTH LEADER, HON. MKEENEM MOSES FIMC, CMC, ON FEBRUARY 24, 2024 Protocol Ladies and gentlemen of the press, I appreciate your presence here at a very short notice to discuss this unpatriotic issue that I find very perturbing to the good people of Benue State. Benue youths highly condemn federal legislators under the auspices of the National Assembly Caucus from Benue State for politicizing the unfortunate insecurity bedeviling Benue State which His Excellency, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia is having sleepless night to quell. I, On behalf of Benue youths would also like to use this opportunity to remind security agencies to charge those politicizing the insecurity in Benue State for treason as this is no doubt a pure treason. We conscientize Benue people to know their enemies, their federal lawmakers are their enemies and they have not hidden it anytime. On no account should Benue people allow their National Assembly Representatives, some with just little or no single projects in their various constituencies to parade themselves on National TV Stations with derogatory and anti-people information at the detriment of the lives and future of Benue youths such a nefarious behavior has not portrayed the interest and image of the common Benue people but their personal political interests. Evil as anything self remains evil. Ladies and Gentlemen, The lives of every Benue youth matters, same as others hence we cannot seal up our lips and allow anybody politicize the security of our state. I on behalf of millions of Benue youths would like to also use this opportunity to convey to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the palliatives he gave to National Assembly members for onward distribution to their constituents sometime last year have not reached them. Therefore, the president should be watchful when entrusting this ungrateful NASS members from Benue with palliatives. Let it also be known that the time for electioneering campaigns is over and it behoves on every well meaning indigene of Benue State to close ranks and cooperate towards the development of the State. More worrisome, reliable information has been gathered that some persons suspected to be from the National wrote a letter and dropped for herders at the Nigerien borders that the Anti-Open Grazing Law has been relaxed now for them to come and occupy the state. That is very unpatriotic and unexpected of people who are indigenes of Benue State and should be rebuffed with utmost vehemence. Lastly, I wish to inform us that Benue youths would henceforth not fold their hands to watch those people at the National continue to abuse power and endanger the future of Benue youths and their beloved state. Thank you all and God bless you.
