Jumoke went back home but found out Fummi has left to her place already, she heaved and rushed down to her place and saw her doing some laundry.




"I thought I ask you to rest till I get back, Jumoke said.




"But I did, why are you back so soon? Fummi asked.




"I came to pick you, dress up let's go, Jumoke said packing her clothes in.




"Wait dress up to where? Please I don't want to go out, Fummi said.




"My boss birthday is today so I came to pick you na so you'll cheer up, Jumoke said.




"To cheer me up? Just forget because I'm fine, Fummi said.




"But you are not. You want to tell me that the stress of going to my place not knowing you've gone already then I had to trek down here is all a waste? If you're not coming with me then I am not going, Jumoke said.




"Madam please go to your birthday party, I have a lot to do at home, this few days I've not been myself the whole place is untidy, I have to do this, Fummi said.




"So if it is not today you'll not do it tomorrow? Jumoke asked.




"I don't want to go to anywhere and thats it, Fummi said and went in bringing out the clothes.




"Thanks fummi, sometimes you make me look like I am a fool or all the efforts to put smiles on your face is useless. I think I'll just have to let you be, Jumoke said making Fummi shocked.




"Why are you saying this? I just explained things to you that............. "And you know that is a lie but its fine, bye, Jumoke said and left and ignored Fummi calling her to stop.




Nonso seeing Jumoke return alone was so worried, "where is she? He asked.




"She bluntly refused to come despite how I tried, she replied.




"Did you make mention of me? Nonso asked.




"I didn't, if I had did I don't think she would have followed me either, Jumoke said.




"Now what are we going to do? Nonso asked.




"You just have to meet her at home, explain things to her and apologize thats all, Jumoke said.




"I'll go there right away, Nonso said.




"No no not now. I have to be with you there Fummi can be stubborn some times, but I can't leave now again, Jumoke said.




"I'll wait for you then, Nonso said.




"You're hungry? I'll get you something to eat, Jumoke said and he smiled.




"You and Fummi just know me in and out, thank you, Nonso replied and she left..........




Frank and Festus arrived and called Nonso up but he kept ignoring, "please we are in Osun now just tell us where we meet you, Frank texted but Nonso still ignored.




"Frank what is it? Nonso finally picked up after eating.




"Why are ignoring my calls like I was the one who impregnated Chioma? Frank angrily asked.




"Oh who knows if it was a collective act, or is there anything else I need to know? Just so you know I am very scared of you two, Nonso said.




"You really believe I can do that? Frank asked.




"What do you want me to believe? Its still hard to believe Festus could do that to me so? Even if you didn't sleep with Chioma you knew about it yet you kept shut and watched me suffer. You were busy smiling and giving me words of encouragement even when you know it is wrong, what kind of friend are you! Nonso shouted.




"Now you are wrong, I found out that night I called you, and that was the reason I informed you we'll be coming down for the knocking of door. But how could I expose such thing knowing Chioma can do anything bad to us for destroying her day. We wanted telling you this when you get back to Osun before the cat was let out of bag, Frank said.




"It still makes no sense to me, I have the right to know about this and Chioma can't do anything to you! Nonso shouted.




"You're right but still I'm sorry okay, where are you? Frank asked..




"The bar i met first met Fummi, Nonso replied.




"I think I can trace it, thanks, Frank said and the line went dead............




Nonso covered his head on the table and slept off without knowing.




"There's no party going on here ma, Jumoke heard someone said behind her. She turned to see Fummi, "you came? She asked.




"Yes I did and I can see few people here with a guy sleeping, what a boring birthday party, Fummi said and Jumoke laughed.




"I only wanted you to leave the house and buy me drink, Jumoke said.




"Jumoke please don't do else I'll cry here for you, do you know I had to hurry up with the laundry so I'll meet up with you seeing the way you angrily left I was not happy, Fummi said.




"I was not happy too na so buy me drink. But please help me wake that brother up else I'll break his head there, Jumoke said pointing at Nonso.




"Just let him sleep and face your work, Fummi said.




"No my boss won't tolerate that and he has been sleeping since morning, Jumoke said.




"OK o but Jumoke you're wicked o for playing such pranks on me, Fummi said going to Nonso and tapped him.




"Please sir can you wake up, Fummi said and Nonso lifted his head with his sleepy eyes.




"Nonso, Fummi whispered and turned to look at Jumoke who was busy smiling.




"What's all this? Is this why you brought me here? Fummi shouted.




"Fummi please put the blame on me, Nonso said.




"Girlfriend can you calm down please, there's something you need to know, Jumoke said.




"There nothing I need to know here, I have to go, Fummi said but Nonso held her going on his knees.




"I messed up yes I know, but its not intentional. I did love you Fu...... "Just stop now cause i once believed that but it was all a lie, Fummi shouted.




"It wasn't, I was only scared thinking its not going to work out between us, that's because I'm from a royal family and I can't get a mate far. I didn't know how to tell you this because I didn't want to loose you please forgive me, Nonso said and Fummi sniffed.




"So what now? You've found your mate so go meet her, Fummi said.




"Here i am and she's just before me. The mate given to me by my mom wasn't fit for me and I've come back here to take back my mate, and its you Fummi, Nonso said and Jumoke touched her slowly as she stood shock.




"Its true dear, this time around he's back for real just as you've always prayed, Jumoke calmly said.




"I wasn't praying for him, Fummi said.




"You prayed for someone to un break your heart and he is the answer to your prayer. Please go back to the only one who made you happy, Jumoke said.




"Is this really happening? Fummi said in tears.




"Please forgive me, this time i won't leave you no matter what. Fummi please be my wife, Nonso said bringing out a ring.




"Oh my God! Fummi are you going to say yes or I'll gladly do it for you? Jumoke happily said admiring the ring.




"Nonso please isn't it to quick? Fummi asked.




"I delayed and you were almost gone, i don't know what I am waiting for anymore but I know i want to spend the rest of my life with you. Please be my wife, Nonso said.




"Yes, yes yes yes yes! Fummi shouted and hugged him happily.




"Congratulations bro, Nonso heard a voice behind him, he turned and saw Frank and Festus.

Chioma rushed into the room in tears holding Nonso legs, "please don't do this, you don't know what my dad will do to me if he hears this, she cried.

"So what do you want me to do? Settle down with a lady whose womb must have been shifted by now? Chioma I respected you and your body, but you kept bringing it to me even when I didn't want to. I've never gotten you pregnant but you've already removed for another, and you really think I will settle down with you even if I wanted to? Nonso asked.

"This is the first time I swear, it wont happen again I'm so sorry please don't disgrace me this way, Chioma said.

"And i am so sorry too because its already over. Anyone that will try to force me get married to you will be my enemy for life. You are a wise lady Chioma, just tell your dad you don't love me anymore and you don't watt this to hold. My family will cover up for you and no one will get to know about what happened okay, Nonso said but she only sniffed.

'You're going to meet her then right? Chioma asked.

"Very correct, Nonso replied and zipped his bag then looked at Frank who was just quiet looking at him.

"I am very sorry you two came for nothing and somehow I'm very happy you did, you don't know what you just rescued me from, Nonso said.

"If I should ask, who was this abortion stuff for? Okoye asked.

"Does it matter? Please Good night, Nonso said and left the room for them while Chinyere helped Chioma from the floor she sat.

"I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do now, I wish you didn't mess up. But you have to do as Nonso told you, come up with something and say you don't need this relationship anymore. If your dad sees its your choice he won't argue okay and don't worry your secret is safe here, Chinyere said.

"Ma I'm so broken now, Chioma cried and hugged her while Frank and Festus slowly left for their room.

'I didn't mean this to happen I swear, Festus said.

"You didn't mean this to happen? How did it get to this? Frank asked.

"Chioma asked to see me herself and when I came out to meet with her, she dragged me to the kitchen side thinking no one will be there. But Nonso was there in the kitchen and he heard our conversation, there was no where we could deny it, Festus replied.

"Oh Festus weldone. So now you have your bride right? Frank asked.

"Chioma will never accept me with the way things has turned out, but trust me when I say I didn't mean it please, Festus said.

"What's the point? Everything is over now so get your bag ready and take your rest, we have a flight to catch up tomorrow.... I mean today, Frank said checking the time to see it was past 1a.m.

"We are leaving? But this can be resolved in the morning, Festus said.

"Oh shut up and be grateful Nonso didn't expose you as the betrayer, we would have been on the street this minute, Frank sternly said.

"Oh God, I feel terrible now, Festus sadly said covering his face on his palms..................

The next day everyone noticed Nonso was not at home, "his number was tried severally but it was not reachable.

"Did anyone leave this gate? Uchenna asked the gateman.

"Yes oga corper been drive comot with him driver, the gateman replied.

"If so sir we will take our leave too, we only came for his knocking of door which sadly will not hold, Frank said.

"I am so sorry for this, but I believe next time you will be invited for an occasion like this, it won't turn out this way, Okoye said.

"I understand sir and thanks for your hospitality, I really appreciate, Frank said.

"You're always welcome, Okoye said and they shook hands with Nonso brothers.

Bringing their bags down, Okoye ordered the driver should drive them safely back to the airport.................

A horn was heard on the gate and a jeep drove in shortly after the visitors left.

"Good morning your highness, a huge guy greeted when he got in.

"Morning, Okoye replied.

"Sir I was sent to pick up miss Chioma to get her prepared for the day, the guy said and Chioma walked in.

"Let's go, Chioma said.

"Erm please can you wait outside, she'll meet you shortly there, okoye said to the guard and he nodded.

"Its quite unfortunate this happened and I don't want you to harbour anything bad against us. You know we tried our best to see this works, I just hope you'll be careful with the words you'll say to your father. I don't want him to be in rage or become an enemy with this family, I hope you understand, Okoye said.

"I do and I so Much appreciate everything this family has done, Chioma replied.

"You know you'll always be welcome here anytime you want, Chinyere said.

"Thank you, Chioma said and Chinyere gave her a hug.

"Its gonna be fine okay, don't think too much, Chinyere said cleaning Chioma tears.................

Hours later Nonso was already in Osun state.

He rushed down to Fummi place but didn't see her, "where could she be? He heaved not knowing if to go her farm or Jumoke work place. He took his phone and dialled a number using a strange line,

"Hello, Jumoke picked up.

"Please I beg you don't end the call. I am sincerely sorry for everything but please can you let me see you? There's something you need to know, Nonso said.

"Me see you? You're not serious, Jumoke said.

"Please I'll be waiting for you where you work, I really need to talk to you about something, Nonso said.

"Fine, Jumoke said.

"Thank you, but Why is Fummi not at home? Nonso asked.

"Bye, Jumoke said and dropped the call on him.

"At least thanks for acceoting to see me, Nonso mumbled and headed for her place........

Jumoke met with him but her mood wasn't friendly as she ignored his greeting and bluntly told him to go straight to the point.

"Jumoke I know I've bleeped up but please.......... "If this is about Fummi don't even go there, do you know how she feels knowing she had something to do with a married man without her knowing? You made a fool out of us! Junoke shouts.

"Whosaid i was married? I am not but I was engaged to a lady I didn't want to marry. Maybe I've never told any of you this, I'm from a royal family and wives are being chosen for us. When I was about going for service I had to engage her but little did i know i will find love here. Jumoke I tried suppressing my feelings for your friend afraid that its not going to work out but i couldn't.

I just wanted to visit my family but they shocked me, they already arranged for my knocking of door in 3 days time and that is today.

I was mad and its like i couldn't escape it, I didn't know it will be this soon i will break up with Fummi. I had to distance myself a bit and i had to lie that I'll be getting married because my family already knew about Fummi, I did that to protect her, Nonso said.

"So why are you here? Jumoke asked.

"I'm here because its canceled and I am no longer scared for my love for Fummi, i am ready to fight for her now, Nonso said.

"I don't believe this, Jumoke said.

"I know I've hurt your friend, you can't imagine the pains i went through too. But I'm back to make things right, please help me Jumoke, Nonso said.

"Fummi cry is "please un break my heart" if you are the solution and the only one that can do it, then I'll do this for my friend, Jumoke said.

"Thank you so much, Nonso happily said.

That evening after the dinner the guys gathered in the guest room discussing happily.

"What exactly was your dad saying about Nonso? Festus asked His brothers.

"Your friend disrespects everyone at home, Peter replied.

"Do I? Guys this people had the mind to arrange for my knocking of door with Chioma like I have no right to know about it. Is that fair? Nonso asked.

"Like we didn't know you will run away or refuse to come down here because of your Yoruba girl, Uchenna said.

"You know about her? Frank asked.

"Of course Chioma told us everything, Uchenna replied.

"Everything like everything? Frank asked.

"Chioma noticed it didn't she? so must have told them what happened over there, Festus came in.

"Tomorrow he is going to do the right thing and if he gets close to that girl again there's gonna be trouble, Peter said.

"Guys let's drink up, Nonso said pouring in drinks for his friends.

"Haven't you drink enough today? Just look at your eyes, Frank said.

"Frank please don't behave like my dad, just drink up okay, Nonso said gulping down his drink while they looked at him surprised.............

"Chioma you're still here? Your mom just called me now and I thought you must have gone already, Chinyere said when she met Chioma still in their house.

'Mom I was thinking of spending the night here, I'll leave first thing tomorrow morning, Chioma replied.

"Its fine but your mom was worried, looks like you didn't tell her you'll be spending the night here, I'll let her know that. By the way why are you not with Nonso? Chinyere asked.

"Erm the guys are discussing in the guest room which I can't join them, i'll go to my room now, chioma said.

"Okay goodnight, Chinyere said........

The guys drank and retired to their different rooms while Chioma was patiently waiting to talk with Festus.

Seeing the discussion and fun was over, she called up Festus on phone.

Festus ignored the call afraid of Frank whose eyes was just on him always,

"See me outside this minute, Chioma sent him a text message.

Minutes later Festus came out and saw Chioma standing with an angry look, "I'm sorry, Frank was awake I had to wait for him to sleep off, Festus apologized but she dragged him by the hand to the kitchen side knowing no one will go there by that time.

"What the hell are you doing here? Chioma asked.

"I understand but Frank insisted we attend, if I don't he will suspect something, Festus replied.

"What's your purpose here? Nothing must go wrong in my knocking of door tomorrow, she said.

"It seems to me you are very happy, what about me? He asked.

"You? What about you? What ever happened between us was over okay, done and dusted, she said.

"Didn't that mean anything to you? And What about my child you aborted, you owe me an explanation why you should do that without my consent, Festus said and she scoffed.

"So you purposely did that thinking I won't abort it huh? Do you really think I could fool Nonso with that pregnancy? Let's not talk about this anymore and let me make this clear to you, make sure nothing go wrong on my day tomorrow else I won't forgive you, Chioma said and turned to leave but Festus held her.

"Are you for real? He doesn't love you why not just let him go? He asked.

"You think its that simple? Just forget about me, I can take Care of myself, Chioma said and the door of the kitchen surprisedly opened.

Their mouth flew open as they saw Nonso with a tray of food in his hands, "Nonso were you here all this while? Festus asked pointing at the door.

"Yes I suddenly got hungry after drinking so I came here to help myself with some food, so what were you two talking about? Nonso asked.

"Erm nothing, he was actually asking me for help..... I mean erm he was............... "Asking why you aborted his baby, seriously you two were fucking behind my back huh? Nonso shouted.

"Nonso please its not what you think okay, keep your voice low so you won't wake the house up, Festus said.

"Oh you shut up! I wish to wake the whole house so they'll hear what I just heard just Now. Jesus Christ! Nonso shouted and Chioma was going on her knees already.

"Nonso please we were drunk when it happened, it wasn't intentional please don't do this to me, Chioma pleaded in tears.

"Oh you guys were drunk? So tell me Festus, in your drunkenness you were able to locate her hotel room and slept with her right? I'm sure you went to require something from her or better still asked help from her on bed right? Nonso asked and they heard footsteps approaching.

"Nonso please let's talk about this elsewhere i beg you, Chioma said and touched his hand.

"Don't you dare touch me, we are going to settle this here and right now! Nonso shouted.

"What's going on sir? Ifeoma asked.

"Were you called here? My friend get out from here! Chioma shouted on her.

"Hey you stop there. I want you to go right to my parents room and bring them right here now, tell them there's something interesting here they need to see. Call my brothers too because they need to see this with me, Nonso said.

"Hey please don't do this I beg you, we can explain, Festus said.

"I've told you earlier to shut up before I'll punch your face where you're standing. You disgust me Festus, who could have thought you can do such shameful act to me? Nonso said.

"Hey God please i am begging you na, when you were cheating on me I didn't broadcast it to the world o, Chioma said.

"Just shut up, shut up! You didn't broadcast it huh but my family knew about it even when you were cheating yourself. Just so you'll know, Fummi is different, she's not shameless like you and we didn't do what you think we did, now what about you? Nonsoa asked.

"What's going on here? Chinyere asked followed with Nonso brothers.

"Oh I welcome you all, now I want you to please ask Chioma what Exactly is going on here, Nonso said and they looked at chioma but saw her crying on her knees.

"What's wrong this time ? Nonso what have you accused her with again? Peter asked and Nonso wanted going for a fight with him.

"What the hell is wrong with you Nonso! Uchenna shouted holding him.

"You guys think I'm accusing her huh? Then why is she crying begging me on her knees? Do you know what she has done? You all were busy forcing me on her but no one could notice when she was pregnant and even went far aborting it for another man! Nonso shouted.

"What! Chioma is this true? Talk to me! Chinyere shouted on her.

"Mom please forgive me, Chioma said in tears.

"You must be joking, you must be crazy! Okoye shouted on her.

"No please I can explain, Chioma said.

"Just shut up! What do you want to explain? Nonso asked.

"Nonso please take it easy, Frank came in.

"And you,did you know about this too? Nonso asked.

"Nonso pleaseeeeee, Frank said wanting to touch him..

"Oh just leave me alone! Nonso shouted and Left for his room.............

He took his phone and dialed Fummi number but she wasn't picking up. "Common please I'm sorry, he anxiously said pacing around and dialed Jumoke number.

After 2 rings Jumoke picked up, "what are you calling for? Jumoke asked.

"Please i understand the rage but can I speak with Fummi now? Nonso asked.

"That's not possible and i won't let you add more injury to the one you've inflicted her with. Fummi is sick and all thanks to you! Jumoke shouted and dropped the call.

"Oh no! Nonso exclaimed, took his bag and began packing. The door opened immediately, "where do you think you are going to this night? Chinyere asked.

"I am going no where this night but tomorrow morning, I am going to meet the woman of my dreams and no one and nothing, not even your rubbish knocking of door can stop me, Nonso dropped.

"Nonso I understand your anger and if you don't need her anymore for a wife the engagement and everything will be cancelled. You have every right to do that, But you taking a stranger into this house is what i won't accept, Okoye said.

"No dad she's not a stranger, to you she may be by to me she's part of me. If you won't accept her, then i am very sorry i will elope with her and live happily elsewhere, Nonso said.

"You don't have to do that Nonso, i think we owe you an apology, Uchenna said.

"You don't have to apologize, tomorrow I'll be leaving to see her. I already broke her heart for a slut like Chioma and i have to go back there and un break her heart. She's the one you all need to apologize to and not me, Nonso said but they all watched him speechless..

Jumoke finally saw Fummi lying on the grass of her farm all alone, "fummi please don't do this to yourself, I have been looking for you let's go home I am begging you, Jumoke said trying to help her up.

"Just let me be, I just want to be alone please, Fummi replied.

"No I won't let that happen, I can't leave you here alone, Jumoke said insisting to get her up.

"I said leave me Alone! Fummi shouted.

"I understand what you're going through, though I've not passed through this but loosing my dad gave me a clue of what you're going through now. I don't want you to do this to yourself, if you didn't die when your family left you then I know you will still come out strong. Please put yourself together and let's go home, Jumoke said.

"You won't understand, I don't think I will be able to put myself back together again. I thought I've found light but all I see is deeper darkness, Jumoke I think this over because I can't bear this anymore, Fummi said in tears.

"No you can make it, I know you can Fummi. You are just hurt and with time you'll be fine, remember when your brother and dad died you were so devastated but you began laughing again, with time you will see the light back again and this time it won't go off. Please get up let's go evening is approaching, Jumoke said dragging her up.

"Why won't you just let me be, I just want to be here alone, I want to die and end this! Fummi shouted.

"Then what about me Fummi? Have I left you? Why are you behaving like you are alone in this world? Haven't I tried all my best to be always there for you? Is this how you are going to make me feel that I was nothing to you! Jumoke shouted and Fummi burst out crying.

"Fine, I think I know my place now, Jumoke said.

"I never said that Jumoke, you've been more than a friend to me and you know how much I love you right? Fummi asked.

"Well I don't see that because you are thinking of dying which you don't care how I will feel, Jumoke said.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry please, Fummi cried holding her hands but Jumoke raised her up.

"You know I will never leave you, trust me when I say Nonso is senseless for breaking your heart this way, Jumoke said cleaning her tears.

"I just wish he can un break my heart, at first I thought I'll be able be to take it but I was wrong Jumoke. I never knew I loved him that much, Fummi said.

"Its fine, just let him go after all he doesn't deserve you to start with, let's go, Jumoke said taking her out.................

Nonso came out from his room and as usual all eyes was fixed on him, "you're going out again? To where? Okoye asked.

"My friends are at the airport now, I have to go pick them, Nonso said.

"Friends! what for? Chinyere asked.

"I thought my knocking of door is tomorrow? Or I'm not allowed to invite my friends? Nonso asked.

"You should have let us know about it so we'll have the rooms prepared for them, Peter came in.

"Well since we are in the season of surprises I don't need to tell you, but I expected you to know friends will come to celebrate with me right? You can get the rooms and food prepared for them before I get back, bye, Nonso said and left the house.

"Christ! I am loosing my patience with that guy, I feel like punching him hard on the face, Peter said angry with the way Nonso responded to him..

"Sorry my dear, but if he invited his friends thats a good start you know, Okoye said.

"Ifeoma! Chinyere shouted and a maid answered running down.

"Get the spare rooms prepared, there's a visitor on the way. Also tell Chika to include guest in the dinner she is preparing, Chinyere said and the maid nodded and left.

"Chioma are you okay? Uchenna asked when he noticed how uncomfortable she was.

"Yes I'm fine, just surprised Nonso didn't tell me he invited his friends, Chioma replied.

"Don't worry about it dear, you invited yours didn't you? Chinyere asked and she nodded forcing a smile..............

Nonso arrived at the airport and happily hugged his friends, "you've been drinking? Frank noticed.

"Oops please let's go before you start your questioning, Nonso said carrying his bag.

"I'll take that drinking as that of the celebration right? Festus said and Nonso smiled.

"Yes sure, celebration indeed, Nonso replied and Frank looked at Festus in a way he had to take his gaze from him.

"So how is Chioma? Hope she's good? Frank asked.

"Yea yea she is, she's the most happiest person on earth now you know, Nonso replied.

"Of course, women gets happier more on such day, Frank said.

"Wait a minute, where are we going to stay? Festus asked.

"In my place of course, there are spare rooms there meant for guests, Nonso replied.

"We can use the hotel to avoid inconvenience please, Festus said and Nonso laughed.

"You are my guest guy please don't say that. You can stay there for as long as you want and no one will have a problem with that, Nonso said and Frank gave Festus a smirking look..............

They arrived home and Nonso family warmly welcomed them as Okoye began acting inquisitive how and where they became Nonso friends.

"Sir we met in the university but he later dropped which we found out he's was studying abroad, Frank replied.

"Then you guys met Again in service? Thats nice, Chinyere said.

"Its a small world ma, Frank said.

"You two looks respectful and responsible and i hope you've been advising your friend because he's showing and demonstrating some questionable character here, Okoye said.

"We apologize on his behalf sir, they chorused together.

"OK thank you, I have to show them to their rooms, let's go please, Nonso said.

"We beg to leave sir, Frank said.

"You're free my dear, but please talk to your friend, Okoye said and Nonso dragged them away.

"Was that necessary dear to say all of that to his friends? Chinyere asked.

"There are his friends and they also have the right to teach and show him manners if he is wrong. Chioma I'm i right? Okoye asked and she nodded.

"Very well sir, they are responsible, Chioma replied.

"The post-mortem reports says he died of food poisoning," Sandra said as she entered into the passenger's side of the car and jammed the door. She handed over the document in her hand to Steve who was sitting at the driver's side.

He turned on the inner light of the vehicle before taking the document from her. He scanned through quickly and handed it back to her.

"Does this mean he poisoned himself and dropped dead beside the public bin?" Steve asked rhetorically, thinking aloud to himself.

"That's what it seems like but from all indications, our past investigation reports proves something else happened." Sandra replied.

"If the post-mortem reports says he was poisoned, then he was truly poisoned but the question is, did he poison himself or someone else did?" Steve asked, slowly turning his face to her again.

"I would have to find that out tomorrow," Sandra let out a breath.

"Good job so far," Steve commended as he pulled the seatbelt to lock it. "Seems everybody on the team is been doing so well already."

"Have you heard from Dan and Evelyn?" Sandra asked, pulling on her seatbelt too.

"Yeah, they are doing quite well." Steve replied after starting the car engine. He turned on the indicator and looked into the side mirror to check for cars on the road.

Samantha let out a breath as they turned into the road and she caught sight of the hotel building from afar, she couldn't wait to devour the meal they had gotten on their way back. She was sitting in the backseat of the car while Wilson was at the front with Henry, the nylon bag containing the three packs of food was at the backseat with Samantha.

The day had been eventful and full of surprises, especially for Henry. The biggest surprise which was discovering that his once mighty friend was now so weak and helpless. He spoke no word to anyone as they drove back to the hotel. His eyes were bloodshot and his heart full of rage. It took application of self control gotten as a FOX Agent over the years for him to be able to bottle up his anger and drive without colliding into anyone or anything. The fire was burning in his bones and it made him so restless. It was a fire of revenge, revenge for his friend, his family and his friend's family.

He proceeded straight into the hotel after parking outside, Wilson and Samantha followed behind but at a slower pace. He got into the hotel room and sat at the edge of the bed burying his face in his palms for a moment.

After a while, he got up and proceeded to the locker where he had kept his phone before leaving. He unlocked it quickly and opened the dial pad. He dialed doctor Alan's number.

"Hey boss, I've been worried about you, I couldn't reach you all day." Doctor Alan spoke first.

"Good evening doc, you should know you can't reach us because we're out of Bethanna. I can only reach you when I want."

"Oh! I see..."

"Hope you are doing fine," He replied.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Hope you are fine too, and is there any luck in finding Morris?"

"We got very close today doc, " Henry replied. "Very soon, it should be done."

"Wow! That's encouraging," the doctor said in a light mood.

"Doc," Henry called in a serious tone. "Can dysarthria and tetraplegia which has lingered for close to one year to be treated?"

"Uhmn..." the doctor took some time to think. "Well, it depends but it's rare. Dysarthria is caused by brain injury. We have very good doctors but I'm not sure we have enough facilities in Bethanna to take care of such conditions."

"But can it be treated?" Henry questioned.

"It depends on the cause, for most cases what the person gets may just be some more years to live. Some get to overcome the both conditions but they still have one or more part of their bodies which may tend to experience it some times and they have to live on drugs but like I said before, it all depends on the cause."

"Thank you doc, I'll talk to you later."

"Why do you..."

Henry did not allow the Doctor complete his words before he cut the call.

He dropped his phone on the bed and turned to look at Wilson who was eating already. Wilson hid his face and turned away as their eyes met.

A brief smile appeared on Henry's face as the look on Wilson's face at that moment brought back memories of his son, Kellar, to him. He frowned again and clenched his fists.

Hutton stirred the tea in the mug gently with the teaspoon in it. His eyes was fastened to the computer screen while his right hand was placed on the mouse. Beside the laptop on the table were three phones and an earpiece. There was also an unknown flat device of a cuboidal shape beside the phones, it had a timer at the left side and an handle on top. On the computer screen was the magnified image of the unnamed device but with the parts well labeled.

He clicked the arrow to move to the next image after few minutes of studying the first. The second image had the device split into four parts with each part named. He switched to the next image, it contained the first part of the unnamed device, well magnified and having each component numbered. At the left part of the image, the components of the parts were listed with their numbers and a brief summary of their functions stated in front of them.

He paused to drink from the tea cup before he began to study the image. A minute after, he took another sip before clicking onto the next image. The whole study took him close to ten minutes to complete after which he switched to a text document. He copied a set of codes on the first line of the document and switched to another application. He clicked on Ctrl + F after the application loaded, a dialog box opened and he pasted the copied code into it and clicked the enter key. Few seconds later, he got results from the command issued and began to study them one after the other.

He stopped and turned in his swivel backward when he seemed to have gotten reasonable facts from his work. He stared thoughtfully at the ceiling for a moment before turning back to pick one of the phones on the table. He dialed Kahn's number.

"Good morning Kahn, how is it today?" he said into his mouthpiece and waited to get his reply. "I'm also doing well," he answered before proceeding to his reason for calling. "What's the name of the new girl?"

"Florence Brown," Kahn replied from the other end.

"Have you met her in person?"

"No but Daysman and Aaron has." Kahn replied.

"I need her to go to Anthanna tomorrow, there's someone she needs to find and kill in El Deols. Get her email address and send to me, I'll forward the details to her and copy you."

The sound of knocking at the door jerked Henry off from sleep. He sat up and took a look at Wilson who was still fast asleep by his side in the bed. He rolled out of the bed and proceeded to the table to pick the beards je used for disguise. He had black shorts on and a white armless top.

"Who's there?" he asked as he got to the door. He knew for sure it couldn't be the hotel workers as room service wasn't one of the services rendered there.

"Me, Ern," the voice replied from behind the door.

Henry dragged in a breath and then opened the door to let Ern in. He closed the door after Ern walked in and locked with the key.

"Good morning," Ern said in his usual accent, slightly different from the Kebban accent. He looked at sleeping Wilson for a while and then turned again to Henry. "Here yesterday three times, you not here."

"You gave us incomplete information man, we almost got into trouble." Henry complained, frowning at him as he walked to sit on the plastic chair.

"How?" Ern questioned.

"You never told us Ovil Matuse was getting ordained as a Priest and that it was a taboo to see him before the ordination."

"I knew not," Ern replied. "I find out after the festival Ovil Matuse is one of the new priests."

Henry shrugged and turned to pick his wallet on the table.

"You see your friend?" Ern asked, walking closer to Henry.

"Ermm... Is there any store I can purchase batteries around here?" Henry asked, deliberately ignoring Ern's question.

"Batteries, type?"

Henry took out a small dry cell battery from a device to show him.

"Yes, at the front here." Ern replied.

"Can we go together?" Henry got up from the seat holding his wallet. He took out his face cap from his bag and put it on before proceeding to the door.

'When you leave with your friend?" Ern questioned as they proceeded outside the hotel.

Henry ignored his question again and asked another. "How many people use phones in this Kebba?"

"Few, only business centres and rich ones." Ern answered.

"So why does Ovil Matuse not posses a phone?" Henry asked, more to himself than Ern. To him, Ovil Matuse who was that popular should have enough money to possess a phone.

"Such materials not allowed in the Home Of Sacrifice, priests and stewards not allowed to posses such."

"Oh!" Henry shook his head.

Henry stopped after taking three steps outside the hotel building. Ern also stopped and looked back at him wondering why he stopped. Henry looked around for a moment and then changed direction towards the car.

He took out the car keys from his back pocket and beckoned on Ern to follow him.

"Not far, just here." Ern protested as he got close to the passenger's side.

"Get in," Henry ordered.

Ern sighed and stepped in.

Henry turned and stared at him. "Since when did Kebba start using CCTV?"

Ern frowned wondering why he was asking such question, he understood what was meant by CCTV because he had seen it in movies.

"No CCTV everywhere, only places near the Local Government Office CCTV."

Henry frowned. He hoped Ern was sure of what he was talking about. He had noticed two security cameras on poles immediately they stepped out of the hotel building. He hadn't seen them the day they arrived and the day before because he had no opportunity to look around and it was also dark, especially the previous day when they had to leave so early for the Home of Sacrifice.

"Are you sure there are no security cameras around the streets and roads?"

Ern squinted at Henry, he looked confused. He shook his head. "Don't sure," he shrugged, deciding to say he was not sure rather than give false information.

"You're not sure?"

Ern nodded.

"Okay, let's get the batteries now." he said and stepped out of the car again. Ern stepped out with him, his face covered with confusion.

They got the batteries and returned to the hotel in five minutes. Henry met his phone ringing when they stepped into the room. Cole was calling.

"Hey boss!"

"Cole," Henry answered.

"I need to visit Anthanna, I got some clues to the source of the codes and I need to find the developer."

"When would you like to make the trip?"

"Tomorrow morning."

"Okay, be safe." Henry replied.

Henry held the phone tightly in his palm after the call ended. The mention of Anthanna had brought back memories of Sheila to his mind. He remembered all that she did for him, how she helped him escape facing the same plight or even worse than Rex had faced.

He thought of how she could be of help to him in safe guarding and also treating Rex but he discarded the thought immediately. He remembered he did not want to get her involved in his mission and how he could be putting her life in danger.

Another thought struck his mind. What if he visited Anthanna with Cole? It could give him the opportunity to see her again and even explain his actions better to her and he could even get to know some of the things she wanted to show him.

His heart continued to beat so fast as he thought of it. It seemed like a difficult decision to make.

Benuit Bethanna.

"Hello Hutton, I hope you have good news," Elvis Kahn said into his phone as he walked into the living room.

"Yeah Kahn, Carl Winston has just found his friend. He's getting into our hands already."

Kahn smiled to himself and praised Hutton in his heart. He remembered when Hutton had advised that they leave Rex alive since he was already incapacitated that he could be of use to them in the future, most of the executives including him had disagreed but Hutton insisted.

"Thank you Hutton, for insisting we kept him alive, now he is indeed useful. You are indeed a great asset to the Wolves."

Hutton chuckled at his end and there was silence for few seconds before Kahn spoke again.

"So, what's our next step?" Kahn questioned.

"He's at Kebba where Rex is, we can't attack or kill him yet," Hutton replied. "But I've got my eyes on his every movement."

"Is he alone?" Kahn asked.

"He isn't of course but I'm yet to ascertain how many people he has working with him. That's one of the reasons we can't attack him yet?"

"Are the people working with him that important? Wouldn't it all end if we just kill him?" Kahn asked, already sounding very impatient to see the end of Carl Winston.

"We don't know the calibre of people he has gathered together," Hutton replied. "We can't tell if they are people who also have scores to settle with us. We also don't know how much information they have about us already, we need to find out all these before ending his life, else we would still be left with a major problem after his death."

"I see," Kahn hummed. He was still unsatisfied with Hutton's explanation and still wished for Carl Winston to be killed immediately but he also trusted Hutton's judgement and believed Hutton would take the right step.

"Do remember we are keeping this information to ourselves," Hutton reminded Kahn before the call ended.

For close to ten minutes, the room was completely silent. All ten guards which Ovil had brought in with them had been dismissed. Samantha had sat on the space in between Ovil and Wilson at the edge of the bed while Henry remained in his squatting position before Rex.

Rex wished he could speak out. He wished he could tell his friend to leave immediately and forget about him completely or until he was successful with his mission. From the day he had seen in the news the death of Richard Brad and the kidnap of Henderson, he had known Carl was back and he immediately began to plan his movement from Vincil to somewhere far where Carl would find it difficult to locate him. Now that Carl had found him, he was not only going to become a liability and a distraction to his revenge mission but he was also like an easy bait by the Wolves for his friend.

He knew from his falling off the Oso rock and crawling out of the water to the edge that the Wolves had not left him yet. He knew they were lurking around and the only reason they had left him alive was because he already appeared decapacitated at the bottom of the rock. He felt and saw signs of them watching him even when Wilson got him to the hospital that day. All through his two months of stay in the hospital, he knew they had kept watch on him. He wasn't even expecting to leave the hospital alive, he had thought he would sleep and not wake up one day, and everytime he saw Wilson in the hospital, he always felt like saying goodbye to the young man but he could not speak at all.

He survived the two months in the hospital and he was fully conscious again but paralyzed in almost in every part of his body. He was only able to move his neck upwards and very rarely his fingers. His speech was also slurred, he could communicate but it would have to take great effort of the listener to pick his words - an art which Wilson mastered later. The Doctor reported that he had gotten a severe brain injury from the fall and now dysarthria and tetraplegia and would need to undergo surgery in a hospital that had the necessary facilities which was absent in Bethanna. He was referred to a hospital in Indian and another in Anthanna and only needed money for the trip and treatment. Rex had the money, but he was conscious that the Wolves had their eyes on him. He knew they must have also gotten the doctor's report on his health and would be expecting him to make a move to travel. He was certain they had a greater reason for letting him remain alive, but at that moment, he never thought it would be to use him as a bait for Carl. Only on the night he found out that Carl was back did he also realize that the Wolves had kept him for the same reason.

He left the hospital with Wilson to the residence in Osti where he continued taking his medications and planning his movement, being conscious of the Wolves watching eyes. He was able to give instructions to Wilson with his slurred speech to procure some devices which he began to use to make moves, Wilson's hands being his hands, legs being his legs and mouth being his mouth to communicate to others. He was able to securely move out of Osti to another location after which they moved to Vincil securely. Rex was sure his moves had made the Wolves lose track of him for a while but due to his inability and condition, he didn't wipe all traces and the Wolves were able to get their location again through Wilson's sister, Sophia. After realizing that he would probably never be able to escape the Wolves in his condition, he pleaded with Wilson to leave him alone and go somewhere far with his sister, so that their lives would not be endangered like his but Wilson refuse and stuck to him, hiding the information and their deals totally away from Sophia. He however never told Wilson the whole truth, he never told him about the FOX Agency. All Wilson believed was that some bad guys were after Morris' life.

"We have to move him out of here," Henry spoke after a long silence.

Rex's heart began to beat fast on hearing Carl's words. What he greatly feared was already coming to pass, Carl was already being distracted by him.

"Where are you taking him to?" Ovil asked.

"To somewhere he can get quick modern treatment," Henry got up from his squatting position and turned to Ovil. "I know you guys are doing a good job but I just need to move him."

"I don't blame your decision to move him," Ovil said and got up to his feet. "But this man here made me promise never to let anyone take hin from here."

Henry looked at Ovil's face, they stared each other in the eyes. "Can't you see he needs to be taken away?"

"We're doing our best on him, the herbs are working." Ovil replied.

"Don't you see his condition has gotten worse?" Henry asked with his voice sounding pained. "He was brought with a slurred speech but now doesn't talk anymore, who knows what would happen next if he doesn't get better treatment."

"I explained that it happened only because he was reacting to change in environment," Ovil argued. "Do you think he wouldn't have died if our treatment wasn't working at all?"

Henry thought about it. It was true Rex wouldn't have survived that long if the treatment was totally ineffective but he still didn't want to believe that the reason Rex couldn't speak at all was the change in environment.

"Please Ovil, let us take him out of here, he needs to be taken elsewhere," Henry pleaded calmly.

"I would not allow that, I don't go back on my promise." Ovil said, shaking his head to emphasize his stance.

"Even if it means the person you promised is dying?" Henry raised his voice slightly.

Ovil turned for a moment and stared at Rex's face, his facial expression softened and for a moment he seemed to be considering a change of mind. He turned back to Henry and shook his head again. "He's not dying and he's going to get better here," he said and turned away. He walked to the window and dropped the curtains, then he turned on a switch and the fairly bright bulb at the centre of the ceiling came on.

Henry remained at the same spot while Ovil walked around and returned where he was standing in front of Henry.

"When is he going to be able to speak?" Henry finally asked after a moment of staring in Ovil's eyes and seeing that he was unwilling to change his stance of keeping Rex there.

"Soon enough," Ovil replied and glanced at Rex again. "Few weeks ago, he couldn't move his neck but he's moving it slightly now."

Henry took in a breath. He stared at Rex's face for a while and then looked at Ovil again. Ovil stared back at him.

"Please, let us take him out of here." he pleaded once more staring deeply into the man's eyes.

"No," Ovil replied in the same calm tone. He glanced at Rex for the last time before he turned. "I'm going to prepare his meal and drugs for tonight," he said before proceeding out of the room, leaving the visitors alone with Rex.

Henry marched slowly towards Rex and squatted in front of him. He looked into his eyes deeply with a reassuring look and light smile.

"My friend, I'm going to ensure you get out of here and get better treatment." He said in whispers. "You will be well again, I promise."

I was exaggerating when I said 5years, Restless is a very interesting story and your fans can't get enough of it especially when it's full of suspense and intrigues. And waiting for a whole week to get an update isn't helpful at all but since you said you are always busy, we will keep following it up but hope there will be an improvement someday in the number of updates a week.

The next day Nonso registered a new line and called up Fummi with it.

Fummi heard the phone ringing but seeing it was a strange number ignored it.

"But your phone has been ringing, who is it? Jumoke asked.

"I don't care to know just leave me alone, Fummi replied and the phone rang again.

Jumoke sighed and picked the call, "hello there good morning, She said.

"Good morning Jumoke, please can you give the phone to Fummi, Nonso said.

"What Nonso! Yes she's here, Jumoke shouted and gave the phone to Fummi who couldn't believe it.

"He.. He.... Nonso? Fummi asked.

"How are you dear? I'm so sorry for not hearing from you for days now, Nonso said.

"Tell me what happened? Have I wronged you in anyway? Fummi asked.

"No no you've never done anything wrong, but I'm so sorry, Nonso said.

"Is there any thing you feel I should know? Common you can talk to me no matter how ugly and painful it is I'll bear it, Fummi said.

"Fummi please I want you to forgive me, I should have said this to you but I don't think I can stand looking you in the eyes to say this. But I just hope you'll forgive me, Nonso said.

"Nonso you can do better than this I beg you, please spill it out Nonso please, Fummi said in tears and Nonso sniffed.

"Fummi I'll be getting married tomorrow you have the right to know about it, but trust me when I say I don't want this either, Nonso said and Fummi closed her eyes tight nodding her head.

"Its fine, but I don't know why it still hurts. I should be used to it by now, everything that is always dear to me is always taken away from me. Its fine Nonso and I wish you the best, Fummi said in tears.

"Fummi please I'm sorry, Nonso said with tears streaming down its face.

"Thanks so much for everything, I really appreciate it, Fummi said and dropped the call crying on Jumoke.

"I can't believe this Fummi, someone tell me this is not happening, Jumoke said in shock not believing her ears.

"I was right, but I wish I could hold myself from loving him the way I did. Jumoke I'm broken, Fummi cried.

"Dear don't say that, your man will come I'm sure of that, Jumoke said fighting back her tears.

"Then what kept him so long? Tell him to go to hell! Fummi shouted and ran away from Jumoke.

"Fummi where are you going to! Jumoke shouted scared................

Nonso sat covering his hand on his face shedding tears when Chioma walked in to his room, "what's wrong again? Is it the headache? She asked bringing his hands down.

"I'm fine, Nonso said and left the room, got into his car and drove off............

"Mom what's wrong with Nonso? Why all this attitude everyday? Chioma asked Chinyere.

"Don't mind that guy dear, when you two succeed in getting married I will take care of him and that girl, so don't worry yourself, Chinyere said touching her.

"Mom I don't like this, why does he treat me like this like i don't worth him, it hurts mom, Chioma said.

"Dear I understand you don't deserve this but I know Nonso is not in his right senses. Look at the girl you said he's in love with which you know is not possible, don't worry I will take care of him I promise you, Chinyere said.

"I just hope you do that quick, he keeps making me scared and confused every time and I am already tired, Chioma said with a frown.

"Honey don't give up now, you've gone too far to accept defeat. You know very well we will never accept a stranger in this family so just calm down, Chinyere said touching her and Chioma nodded.

"I don't want you to ruin this beautiful face of yours, now lets go for the shopping, you know tomorrow is your day, Chinyere said and Chioma smiled..........

"Are we seriously going there today? Festus asked.

"You heard me right, we are taking off this afternoon so we will be very present there tomorrow, Frank replied.

"Frank please don't do this, I don't want to see Nonso and my presence there will make Chioma uncomfortable, Festus said.

"Why will she be uncomfortable? Do you two have conscience? Wow thats interesting, Frank said.

"Frank I know I made a mistake but can we think well of how to settle this? Festus asked.

"A wicked man runs when no one pursues him. I am going with a clear mind and heart to see my friend, I don't know about you. But you are coming with me and there's nothing you can do about it. so I'll advice you get your bag ready, we are leaving this afternoon and that is final! Frank sternly said and left the house.............

"Where's Nonso there's a lot for him to do but his number is switched off and he's not at home, Uchenna said.

"He stormed out of the house this morning, looks like his madness has started by i pray he will cast it out from him tomorrow, Peter replied.

"What is left to be done? You can just cover it up for him. Just leave that boy, you should know how last borns behave, Okoye came in.

"He hasn't arranged his clothes yet and............. "Just choose whatever you like for him, let me see how he will long his mouth to argue I will know what to do to him. Don't worry yourself biko, Okoye came in..................

Nonso was already drinking and slept off there. He heard voices and touchings on his body and he opened his eyes, "sir I think you should start going home, its afternoon already and gouge been sleeping for hours now, The waitress said.

"I'm sorry, what's the cost of the drinks? He asked cleaning his eyes.

"3,200 sir, she replied and he nodded.

He checked his pocket and saw he didn't carry any cash.

"Uhm please can i do transfer? I really don't have cash on me now, he said but she gave a frown.

"The alert can be fake, she said.

"I'm no such person, if you will accept it I'll send 5,000 to your account right away please, Nonso said switching on his phone.

"Okay but I hope the alert will be real, the waitress said..................

Nonso arrived home and passed everyone at home like a jet, "Nonso where are you coming back from, Chioma said approaching him.

"Please someone should tell this lady not to come near me, Nonso said.

"Or else what? You'll beat her up huh? What has come over you Nonso! Uchenna angrily shouted.

"Please I have no such time for this, i need to shower, Nonso said and staggered to his room.

"Mom will i survive with him as my husband? Chioma asked facing them.

"Chioma please ignore him, I think this has gone past the ordinary. Just sit down, when he freshens up I will talk to him, Chinyere said holding her to a seat.......

Coming out from the bathroom after staying in there for minutes, Nonso phone began to ring.

"Hi bro, Nonso picked up.

"What's up man, we are at the airport, Frank said.

"What airport now? I'm on my way! Nonso shouted and began dressing up..

"He told me the two of you worked for an organization that betrayed you," Wilson continued the explanation. "He said it was time for them to pay the both of you but they refused, instead they sent assassin to you. He said he wasn't sure if you were still alive," Wilson paused and stared at Henry's face. "We left the house that night and slept in an uncompleted building, we left town as early as four o'clock the next morning."

"And where did he take you to?" Henry asked.

Wilson stopped and stared at Morris face for a moment. Morris remained still in his wheelchair and didn't make even a blink of the eyes.

Wilson continued his narration. "We kept changing locations daily, from Kunt to Ogbe to Rael and finally to Osti. We stayed together in Osti for a month."

"And nothing happened during that month?" Henry asked.

"My sister was still on break and did not miss any class yet," Wilson continued. "Morris was not always too well, I kept going into town to get drugs for him but I think he needed more than self medication. He later confessed to me that the wounds he had in his belly were bullet wounds and that he had not been able to treat himself well because he was still been pursued by the assassins, his case got worsened and he developed some infections."

"Why didn't he get a doctor or go to a good hospital?" Henry questioned even though he knew the likely reasons that wouldn't have been possible.

"I told him several times but he always said the assassins would locate him immediately he starts to receive treatment from a registered hospital and the smaller hospitals had no facilities enough to take care of him," Wilson replied. "Another challenge was getting money, he was always being careful not to be traced."

Henry could now connect all that had happened and all that he had seen. The reason Rex had gone to his lawyer to change the deal was because he couldn't go to his own personal lawyer to avoid being nabbed there.

"So, what happened?" Henry asked and then turned slowly to Ovil, squinting his eyes at him. "You said he had a fall, how did that happen?"

Ovil frowned and stared at Wilson's face instead of answering.

"Morris' condition was getting worse, so after thirty days in Osti, he had to leave us." Wilson continued, having everybody's eyes fixed on him again. "He gave me a phone, an access card and a debit card and another device. He told me I couldn't reach him but he was able to reach us whenever he wanted to. My sister returned to her school in Bexford, I was left alone in Osti. Morris called few days after he left and told me he was had located an hospital where he could get treated."

Benuit, Bethanna.

"The wounds were not properly treated," the female doctor complained, staring at the patient with a frown on her face.

A male doctor was at the other side and two nurses assisting them were also in the room. The doctor and nurses had gloves protecting their hands. The patient was laying flat with his eyes closed in bed, his shirt was off and his well built chest covered with wounds was bare.

"We need a scan," the second doctor noted after taking a further look with the aid of the equipments. "I think there's a bullet still hiding somewhere, it has caused some infections and we have to take it out before it causes more damage."

"Let's go straight to the scan then," the female doctor said. She stared at the patient's face as she began to take off her hand gloves. "I'll go get it set up," she said and turned towards the door.

Morris could hear the footsteps of the doctor in the silent room as she walked to the door. He opened his eyes and saw the male doctor and the two nurses still by the bedside.

"How long would this treatment take?" He asked in a gentle voice, looking directly at the doctor.

The doctor stared at him first with a suspicious look before answering. "We can only know that after the scan," he replied. "We need to be sure of the amount of damage that has been done first before we decide the treatment that needs to be applied but it's obvious you're going to be here for more than a week."

Morris smiled to himself, knowing he wasn't planning to stay in the hospital for more than three days. He knew the results of the scan would make the doctors more suspicious of him and they would probably send information about him to the police in the town. It would also take the police intelligent department the next day to search details about him and if they weren't looking for a criminal who was shot at the same time he was, they would forward the information to the headquarters. And even though the police wasn't looking for someone like him, the danger would be that the information would also get to the men hunting for his life and they would in no time come for him.

"I would need printed copies of the scan results," Morris said to the doctor.

"Do you have someone coming to meet you?" The doctor asked.

"Yeah, my brother would be coming here soon." Morris replied.

It was Morris third day of being in the hospital. A surgery had been carried out on him on the second day and the bullet trapped in his body had been taken out. His system had been washed clean of the infection and he was placed on intravenous therapy to help him regain strength.

When he woke up that morning, he knew it was time to leave. The breakfast he ordered for was brought to him and he was assisted by a nurse in eating the food. After the nurse left, he began to plan how to leave the hospital. His treatment wasn't perfected yet but he believed the most important part had been done.

08:30AM

About five Sonata vehicles drove speedily into the hospital compound, the nurses and staffs of the emergency section rushed out immediately n readiness to tackle the situation but they were stupefied when the vehicles parked wrongly on the road and roughly dressed thugs stepped out of the vehicles.

From the back seat of the first vehicle, a lightly disguised Richard Brad stepped out. He was putting on a black suit jacket on a shredded blue jean, he had a dark eye goggles covering his eyes and held a small pistol in his right hand.

He led the men hurriedly into the hospital and walked straight to the reception, he demanded for them to lead them to the ward where Tammy Rand was. Seeing the number of thugs in the hospital and the weapons in their hands, the nurses searched the information and gave it to them out of fear immediately.

Richard pushed away and kicked any body that tried to come his way as they forced a nurse to lead them to the ward with the information provided. He pushed away a man dressed in the cleaners overall who almost collided with him at the sharp turn. He proceeded hurriedly with his men first to the office of the doctor in charge of the patient. The cleaner who was pushed to the floor picked himself up and the tools after the thugs had walked away.

Richard Brad forcefully made the doctor and nurses lead them to the ward. He stopped and ordered everyone to pause when they got to the door. He looked back to ensure the rest of the men who were there with him were ready with their weapons, then he pointed two of the men to lead the attack in.

He stepped back as the men opened the door and rushed in with their weapons, he followed shortly after with the doctor and nurse. The bed was empty.

"What the hell is this?" He shouted angrily at the doctor. The shivering doctor stared at the nurse's face.

"He was here," the nurse walked hurriedly to the bed. "I helped him take breakfast some minutes ago."

Richard Brad breathed out heavily and turned his face towards the door to the toilet in the ward which wasn't perfectly closed. One of his men kicked it open and rushed in.

"There's no one there," he said after stepping out.

"He was still so weak this morning, I helped him with breakfast." The nurse said again.

"He must be somewhere around," Richard Brad thundered. "Spread out and search around," he ordered and then picked out his phone to make a call to those outside the hospital and at the reception to be on guard.

80 minutes after

Richard Brad and his thugs had searched everywhere in the hospital and around without seeing any sign of Morris. Brad was about to call off the search and leave the place but was asked by Kahn to turn back to the hospital and question the doctors in charge of the patient.

"What did you treat him for?" Brad questioned the female doctor.

"He had untreated bullet wounds and some minor internal injury," the doctor replied.

Brad relayed what he was told by the doctor to Elvis Kahn on phone.

"Ask her if anyone came to visit or ever asked of him and ask the nurses if they ever noticed anybody talking to him on phone or anything," the strategist voice sounded from the other end. Richard Brad could tell they were together. He had not met with both men but recognized their distinct voices through their several times of interaction via phone call.

"Did anyone visit him or did he talk about anyone coming?"

"No, no one came. He had no explanation when we asked for his family members or friends," the doctor replied and then squinted on remembering something. "He asked for hard copies of his scan results, he said he wanted to show them to someone."

"Did mention who the person was?"

"He said he was his brother but the brother never visited," the doctor answered.

"Can I have copies of the scan?"

The doctor walked quickly to her table and began to search through the files.

Brad returned to his phone call. "He had no visitors but I'm requesting for copies of his scan results which he got from them."

"Also request for deeper details about his treatment," the strategist said.

Brad was on his way out of the place twenty minutes later. He got a call from Elvis Kahn as they drove out through the gate.

"Scan and send pictures of those scan results to us as soon as possible, also send every detail of the treatment." he heard the strategist say.

"Right away sir," Brad replied.

PRESENT

"He called me again on the third day and told me he had left the hospital," Wilson said and paused to take a seat on the bed. "I asked why he left the hospital without waiting for treatment and he said the assassins had traced him to the place and he was leaving to continue treatment in a smaller hospital."

"He said so?" Henry interjected.

"Yes," Wilson nodded. "He said the government hospital had done the major aspect and he could continue the treatment elsewhere but not immediately."

"So, what happened afterwards?"

"That night, he called again and said he was on his way to a hospital contrary to what he told me earlier. He said the pains were unbearable and he had no first aid facility to help himself," Wilson continued his narration. "He called me when he got to the hospital and told me he was receving treatment already. That night, he also told me the use of the other device he left with me, he said I could use it to find his location at any point in time and that I could use it if I didn't hear from him within a period of twenty four hours. We spoke the next day and he was fine until the day after, I didn't hear from him. I tried reaching him but I could not connect. I decided to use the device to find his location. It showed me a point in the Oso Rock and that was where I found him, at the bottom of the rock, terribly injured and almost dead. He would have died if I did not get there early enough."

"Do you know how he got to the bottom of the pit?" Henry asked Wilson, with his face full of expression of inner pain. Oso rock was close to a kilometre above the ground level. Henry imagined how painful and hurting falling from that distance could have been. He was sure it wasn't a straight fall, if it was, there would have been no way he would have survived it.s

"I'm not sure, his speech has been slurred since then and he found it difficult to tell me anything. I could only pick out that the assassins pursued him to the rocks and he had a fight with them on top, he was outnumbered. He either fell from the top or was pushed. I arrived there minutes after his fall, it was a miracle that I still found him alive."

Henry let out a deep breath and looked at Rex's face. He could see the pain written all over. His friend had really gone through a lot and he probably would have gone through the same or even worse ordeal if he wasn't lucky to have been taken to Anthanna by men traveling on the sea. There was however some things Henry had not been able to deduce from Wilson's narration. He didn't know what happened before Morris got to Wilson's house, he also didn't know how the Wolves whom Wilson thought were assassins found Morris in the smaller hospital.

Tears filled Rex's eyes. He wished he could talk to his friend Carl. He wished he could tell him how he got to escape death from the Wolves on the night their families were killed, he wished he could explain that the Wolves had found him in the smaller hospital through the scan results - they had sent the results as a memo to all doctors and hospitals in Bethanna, stating that any patient who presented such should be reported to the police.

he felt the pain again as he remembered how he struggled down the Oso rock, how he would grip a pointed edge of the rock for few seconds before it would give way, how he would roll and hit his body against the rock until he caught a grip of another point which would break after some few seconds of holding on. He was lucky to have finally fallen into the water at the bottom of the rock which was deep then because of the rainy season. He had crawled out of the water weakly to the dry land at the bottom to hide. Wilson had thought he found him early,not knowing Morris had been out there long enough for his wet clothes to get dried by the sun.

Henry squatted in front of his friend again and they stared deeply into each other's eyes. Rex wished Carl had never found him. How in the world would he be able to tell him that the Wolves never took his eyes off him even at the bottom of the pit.

Benuit Bethanna.

"Hello Hutton, I hope you have good news," Elvis Kahn said into his phone as he walked into the living room.

"Yeah Kahn, Carl Winston has just found his friend. He's getting into our hands already."

Kahn smiled to himself. He praised Hutton in his heart. He remembered when Hutton had advised that they leave Rex alive since he was already incapacitated that he could be of use to them in the future, most of the executives including him had disagreed but Hutton insisted.

"Thank you Hutton, for insisting we kept him alive, now he is indeed useful. You are indeed a great asset to the Wolves."

Henry remained on the spot staring at the face of the man on the wheelchair, he was too shocked to move. He felt the urge to say something or call his friend's name but his lips were strangely sealed. Only Wilson moved closer and squatted beside the wheelchair, holding Morris' hand in his. Samantha also stood beside Henry dumbfounded, she had not known Rex but from Henry's talk about him, this wasn't the Rex she expected. He probably wasn't lucky to escape the murder in a healthy form like Henry.

"The fall was so intense, it affected his spine, his brain, he has dysarthria and is numb. It's a miracle that he survived this long without proper treatment, " Ovil Matuse began to explain on seeing Henry startled. "He should have gotten better than this but the change of environment affected him a lot and we started with treatments to make him adapt first instead of treating his condition with herbs, we had to travel far and wide to get the herbs used to make the concoctions for him."

Ovil Matuse stopped when he got to Henry's front, he stared him in the eyes for a second and then walked to his back to close the door.

Henry turned his neck for the first time since he entered the room and watched Ovil walk to the bed. The bed was clean and firm like it had never been touched.

"He doesn't like to sleep in his bed always, that's why we provided a head pad for his wheelchair." Ovil continued. "The only thing keeping him alive is our herbs and sometimes, I feel like he wants to communicate to him that I should let him die but I remember promising him sometime ago that I would never let him go."

"Can I talk to him now?" Henry asked in a very calm voice, staring at Ovil's face. He sounded so weak, like someone who had been defeated.

Ovil stared at him, wondering if he had been listening to the explanation he had been making. He however understood what his state of mind could be like. He was it would be difficult to recover from the shock especially if he hadn't been told how sick his friend was.

"You can talk to him but he cannot reply you," Ovil replied. "The last time he was able to make any sound was five months ago and even then, no one could hear his words."

With very low and heavy steps, Henry proceeded forward and stopped before his long time friend. Wilson rose and stepped back. Henry went down slowly and placed a knee on the floor, he grabbed both palms of Rex's hands as he stared deeply into his eyes. Tears filled his eyes slowly and he tilted his head backward and closed his eyes for a moment to ensure the tears did not drop. He sniffed in and stared in Rex's eyes again. He then turned his neck to Ovil again and said in a frustrated tone. "How did this happen?"

Ovil seemed confused and he stared at Wilson's face in response, believing Wilson was the best in position to answer the question.

Henry turned his focus to Wilson's face when he saw Ovil staring at the young man. He remembered all Wilson's previous explanations before they got to Kebba, how Wilson had kept on mentioning that he made the phone calls for Rex, including the phone call to Ovil and to Tanko. He now realized the reason for that must have been Rex's slurred speech. But Wilson had not given him complete details about the illness, he had only given the idea that it was a serious one.

"What happened Wilson?" Henry asked again, now staring at Wilson intently.

"I don't have the full details but I can only tell what happened after the day he met me," Wilson replied.

Henry repositioned his body to listen to Wilson.

Wilson began to narrate all he could remember and Morris listened attentively, unable to add to the discussion, everything began to play in his mind again just like it had happened.

April 4, 2015

Kunt, Irel State,

Bethanna.

It was a sunny Saturday. Wilson was in the house playing video games with Sophia. It was one of those periods they had time together. He was on leave from his work as a cleaner in the hospital and she was also on her first semester break from school.

They lived in a small apartment of two rooms, the first doubling as the living room and as the "sleeping room" for Wilson. He had his bags and most of his properties in the second room which was the main bedroom but he decided to leave the room to his sister alone. The living room had two sofas in it, a long three seater and a one-seater. The three seater was where Wilson passed the night on ever since they began to stay in the apartment. An ancient television and a DVD player was also in the living room with the game consoles and pads. A fan hung at the center of the room while the white florescent bulb hung on top at the middle of the wall by the left side. It had two windows which had two thick curtains covering them, one by the left and the other at the front, opposite the television.

"You're sure not going to win tonight," Sophia boasted with smiles as she made the choice of an avatar using the controls on the game pad.

"That's what you say everytime," Wilson replied.

"This time is different," she chuckled.

"Let's see how different it would be," Wilson smiled.

His phone began to ring just after they had finished choosing the avatars. He got up from the floor where they were sitting close to the Tv and walked to the three-seater to pick the phone ringing there.

He stared at the unsaved number calling him and frowned. He had received calls from the same number twice that day but everytime he picked, he heard nothing from the other side. He returned to the front of the television, contemplating for a while whether or not to answer the call again. Before he finished deciding, the phone stopped ringing. He sat and placed the phone down beside him and then picked the game pad to continue his game.

"Why didn't you answer it?" Sophia asked.

"I've been called twice by the same number today and I hear nothing from the other end," Wilson replied. "It could be a kid playing around with his parents' phone."

The call wasn't returned neither was there another immediately. They continued with their game. Thirty minutes later, there was a knock at the door.

"Who's at the door?" Sophia asked.

There was no response. The knock sounded a second time. They both looked at the door this time around.

"Who is there?" Sophia asked again. There still came no response.

They stared at each other in the face. The knock sounded a third time.

Wilson got up slowly from his seat. He had thought initially that the person at the door was one of Sophia's friends that comes to greet her usually. He walked slowly to the door.

"Who's it?" he asked again as he put his hand on the knob, but still unwilling to open without getting a response first.

"Wilson, please open the door." He heard a weak voice say from outside.

He couldn't recognise the voice but the person had just called him like someone who knew him well.

He used the other hand to unlock with the key in the keyhole before turning the knob.

A bruised looking Morris staggered into the house, his right hand grabbing the left shoulder at the top. He tottered to the one seater and sank into it.

"Morris!" Wilson cried out and quickly locked the door.

Sophia turned and expressed shock on seeing him walk in. She got up and moved closer to him.

"What happened?" Wilson asked, with deep concern in his eyes.

"Get me a cup of water first," Morris ordered, still holding his shoulder.

Sophia rushed to get the cup of water and was back in few seconds. Henry took the cup with his left hand and gulped down the content, he handed it back to Sophia.

"You are bleeding," Morris cried out on seeing the blood on Morris' shoulder.

Morris closed his eyes and rested his back calmly, trying to catch his breath.

"I need your help," he finally said to Wilson when he opened his eyes.

"Didn't he tell you what happened?" Henry questioned Wilson. He got up to his feet, having been feeling discomfort in his ankles with the way he squatted.

"He did," Wilson squinted at the ceiling again.

FLASHBACK CONTINUES

20:39PM

Wilson and his sister watched in horror as Morris screamed while taking out the bullet from his shoulder. The lead object fell to the floor and Morris took a deep drag of breath it, his eyes widened in pain. He kept on breathing in and out deeply for a while.

He was on the three seater sofa with his shirt already torn off from his body. There were bandages and plasters on different parts of his belly and chest.

A pack of ice which he had placed on the surface of the shot to numb the wound was still on the pan on the floor. Beside it was an almost empty bottle of Whiskey which he had to take several swigs of to dull the pain as much as possible. There was a lowly burning stove beside Sophia and a bowl of clean water.

Morris turned after some seconds to look at Wilson's face and he seemed to understand what was wanted as Morris had already giving him instructions earlier. He applied some few drops of alcohol on the large piece of cotton wool and handed it over to Morris. Morris began to clean round the surface of the wound with the piece, grunting in pains as his hand gently squeezed the wool massaged the area.

"Increase the intensity of the stove," he said in a gruff voice to Sophia and she obeyed immediately. He handed the knife by the handle to Wilson. "I need the blade hot, you can bring the stove closer to me."

Thirty minutes later

With the help of Sophia and Wilson, Morris was able to get his wound dressed. Still shirtless, he remained on the three seater sofa, his back at the corner between the armrest and backrest. Sophia was sitting on the one-seater adjacent him while Wilson sat at the other end of the three seater.

"We can't stay here tonight and we also have to leave town first thing tomorrow morning," Morris spoke after a long time of silence.

"Why?" Wilson questioned.

"They would come looking for me," Morris replied.

"Who are they?"

The fear written on the faces of Wilson and his sister was so obvious. They knew from the instant Morris came in that there was danger, maybe not just for him but for them too if they helped him but they could not have rejected helping him, he had been a great help to them in the past.

"Some men we executed a job for," Morris finally answered. "They're definitely going to come in search for me."

"I don't understand," Wilson frowned.

"It's not time to explain, go in and take few of your things and let's leave here as soon as possible." Morris said and sat up, showing his readiness to start moving. "Get me one of your big shirts," he said to Wilson. His own shirt had been stained with blood and was so wet.

Wilson and Sophia stared at each other for a moment. They didn't know where to start from or even if they should follow him but they knew he would never hurt them.

Nonso returned with Chioma later in the evening and met his family about to have dinner, "just in time dearie, come join us, Chinyere said.

"Thank you ma, Chioma replied while Nonso drew the seat backward for her to sit down.

"So did you two have fun today? Chinyere asked.

"Yes mom we did have so much fun and he got so many things for me, Chioma replied.

"Was the shopping for the knocking of door? Because I wanted taking you for that myself, Chinyere said.

"Well not really for the knocking of door, she replied.

"That's good, we will go on our own tomorrow then if you'll be free, Chinyere said.

"Sure mom, Chinyere replied.

"Can we please eat before the food gets cold? Nonso asked getting bored with the talk.........

Festus was so uncomfortable as he kept pacing around thinking hard, "what's the problem with you? Frank asked..

"Are we not attending Nonso knocking of door? Festus replied.

"We were not invited and besides the space of time is too short, we will attend his wedding if thats why you're worried, Frank replied.

"That wedding or the knocking of door whatever can't hold. Its wrong! Festus shouted.

"What do you mean by its wrong or it can't hold? Frank asked.

"See Frank that wedding should not hold, I know why I am saying this, Festus said touching him but Frank slowly kept his hand down.

"I know this face of yours Festus and I know you are hiding something from Me. Now I need to know why the knocking of door should not hold, Frank seriously said while Festus went ahead pacing and scratching his head.

"Festus! Frank shouted On him.

"Because I slept with her, just not once but many times. Just last week she did an abortion for me, is that who Nonso should marry? Isn't that wrong? Now you know why it shouldn't hold! Festus shouted and Frank slapped him..

"You dare do this to your friend? She was engaged for Christ sake she was engaged to our friend! Frank shouted.

"Nonso didn't love her, Nonso didn't Care about her, he was busy craving for another lady while she stayed lonely. Will you blame me for that? Festus asked.

"Just shut up before I'll blow your eyes off this minute. You are even bragging with what you've done with no conscience, how dare you! Frank shouted.

'I love Chioma, and if she's not needed by Nonso then let her come to me, Festus said and Track scoffed.

" I think I know why you love her, now think twice because a guy like you will be pushed out without a second thought, Frank said.

"No you are wrong, I truly love her but I won't let Nonso take her so she'll suffer in his hands when he truly loves the Yoruba girl, Festus said.

"You're so shameless, gosh I can't believe you're my friend. If you can do this to Nonso then you can do more worst to me, Frank said.

"Please don't say that, I told you this because I trust you and I need your help. What can we do about this please? Festus asked.

"We or yourself?Don't you dare ask me that! Frank said and stormed out of the room.

He went to a place thinking hard that night as he was so confused on what to do.

"Nonso was right all along but he had no prove, this knocking of door would not have been thought of because he has a strong ground to stand on. I feel so sorry for him now, Frank said in his heart.

He took his phone and dialled Nonso number, "hello man good evening, Nonso picked up.

"Yea you sound good today, impressive, Frank said.

"Do I have a choice? Nonso asked.

"I was thinking can we come? I mean to your knocking of door, Frank said.

"Oh I will so much appreciate it, you know it was so sudden and I thought you guys won't make it even if i ask you to, Nonso replied.

"What are friends for and we truly understand with you. We will be there, Frank said.

"I'll be expecting you guys bro and please don't tell anyone about this. It may look like my happy day but trust me it isn't, Nonso said.

"Sure i won't, okay goodnight and take care, frank said.

"Night bro, Nonso replied...........

Frank went back home looking at Festus angrily who just sat quiet unhappy, "get ready we will be attending Nonso knocking of door, Frank dropped.

"To do what? Reveal it to them and disrupt the fun? Festus asked.

"Are you normal? You told me yourself Nonso shouldn't get married to her now what are you saying? Frank asked.

"The knocking of door can hold, that is not the best place to spit out such things, they may kill us for such an embarrassment. When you left I was thinking about it and I agreed that we will let him know about this when he resumes here after the knocking of door, Festus said.

"Bravo man you're so good at it just like Chioma, but get prepared still, we will be with Nonso there. I want to see how you will look him straight in the eye after what you've done to him and I want to see the Chioma of the girl who will shamelessly be smiling happily. I wish you both the best, Frank said and took his rest on the bed while festus watched him not knowing what else to say..............

Nonso held his phone after the call and a message got in from Fummi, "I never knew silence could hurt so much, if i was already dumped can you please make it easier for me. I really don't know what to feel anymore, but i hope you're good. I love you, Nonso read and stood up pacing in his room.

He wanted calling her but his door opened and his mom walked in, seeing her he rolled his eyes and heaved dropping the phone on the bed.

"You should be on bed by this time, Nonso said to her.

"You too, was that Chioma you......... "Everything must not be Chioma mom. Please i had a very long day and i wish to rest please, Nonso said.

'Did you just say that to me? You mean i can't talk to you whenever i want like i used to? And was it me you cut short that way? Chinyere asked.

"Please mom my head hurts, I think my headache has returned. Please the discussion should be forwarded till tomorrow's, I'll be fine by then i promise, Nonso said.

"You're unbelievable! Chinyere said and slammed the door behind her.

Nonso left his room and met his family on the dinning just about to eat their breakfast, "uhm so someone finally came out from his room, Okoye said but Nonso ignored him, shifted his chair, sat down and quietly began to eat.

"Nonso did you realize you saw people sitting here before you walked in? Uchenna asked him but Nonso was quiet.

"Nonso I am talking to you! Uchenna shouted on him.

Nonso heaved, took his tray of food and left the dinning saying no word to anybody.

"Has that guy gone nuts or something? Woman you better talk to your son because I won't tolerate this here, Okoye angrily said.

"I talked to him this morning already, don't just mind him, if he like let his anger swell up like the tides of the sea it won't change anything. If he gets me angry, I will make them get married before he goes back to service, Chinyere said.

"I disagree with you mom, that will be so suspicious and you know how Chief Emeka is. Let's just make him do this first, you know we can't rush such a marriage, Peter came in.

"But look at the way he is behaving, what's all this? You better talk to him o, Okoye said.

"Don't worry dad he'll be fine, Uchenna said......

Nonso was still in his room when he heard a knock on his door once and someone walked in.

He didn't bother to check who it was as he laid on the bed backing the door, "love what's going on? He heard chioma voice and closed his eyes tight.

Chioma went to him touching his forehead, "are you feeling sick? Does mom know about this? She asked but he slowly took her hand off from his head.

"Did you planned this? He asked seriously.

"Planned what? She asked.

"Don't give me that look, because I know this is all your doing, Nonso replied.

"What are you saying? Please i don't think I came here to receive any of your accusations. I myself was surprised when I heard about our knocking of door and if you don't want it, I'll call it off right away including our engagement. I am sick and tired of all this!" Chioma shouted.

"I'll ask you to do me this one favour, please take your noise outside because my head hurts right now, Nonso replied.

"Your head hurts or the Yoruba girl is your problem?. I'm calling this off so everything will come to an end, Chioma said and wanted to leave but Nonso held her hand.

"Can you please get me drugs? I'm not feeling too well seriously please, Nonso gently said and Chioma stood looking at him confused.

"Are you serious? I'll go get your mom immediately, Chioma said and left his room.

"I will so much appreciate it if you call this off, but I know Fummi will be attacked which I won't want to risk. I'll accept this only for her, but i doubt you will enjoy this marriage," Nonso said in his heart and he noticed Chioma was coming.

That afternoon Nonso came out with Chioma well dressed surprising everybody, "are you going out? Okoye asked.

"Yes, we realize there are some things missing so we are going for shopping, Nonso replied.

"So you are not feeling sick anymore? Peter asked.

"Yea I'm good, OK we will be back bye, Nonso said holding Chioma hand to leave.

"OK be early, Chinyere said to him and they left.

"I don't believe that act, Peter said.

"Me too, but I think he his trying to patch things up with her. Chioma has been with him for hours now, who knows if they were talking things out, Chinyere replied.

"We just have to be positive on this, he looked kind of real that he meant what he said, Uchenna said.

"Well I hope so, Peter said.

"But this Yoruba girl, does anyone know anything about her? I will like to have a word with her, Okoye said.

"Why should you waste your time dear? I am sure she is one girl who was waiting for an opportunity to see a rich man to perch on, please leave her I know how to handle girls like her, Chinyere said.

"But you know your son mom, I don't think he can Fall that deeply in love with any kind of girl, Peter came in.

"What's all this love love you are talking about? Can she compare herself to Chioma? Chinyere asked.

"Mom let's not go too far, Nonso is already accepting her and thats the important thing. In two days time it will be done, then let the Yoruba girl go near lets see, Uchenna said.

"Ah let her don't even dream of it o, because I will pack her in a very good place she won't like it at all, Chinyere said and Okoye phone began to ring.

"Its Chief Emeka, Okoye announced to them and picked the call while Chinyere looked happily........

"Thanks Dear, I can't remember the last time we went out like this, Chioma said to Nonso after the shopping.

"Thats because I was away, he replied.

"Both in heart and body, Chioma said and his phone began to ring.

He took it out to see who it was and heaved, "its she right? Pick the call and tell her you've returned to your bride to be, Chioma said and Nonso rolled his eyes.

"That is not necessary okay, there are better ways to break off with a lady than saying such things to her, its childish, Nonso replied.

"But she will not stop calling, you need to tell her the truth, Chioma said.

"What truth? If you continue to talk about Fummi now we are having fun, then consider this shopping and everything over, Nonso said.

"Fummi... Is that her name? Anyway the shopping was already over so? Chioma asked smiling.

"Let's then sit out, I know you don't want to go home now. So where do you want? Nonso asked...............

Fummi sat outside crying and Jumoke met her, "oh Jesu! Who is beating you? She asked.

"Oh stop please just stop. Nonso has been ignoring my calls and his not calling back either, why did he just leave me like that? He should have told it to my face, he shouldn't have done it this way, Fummi said in tears and Jumoke sat beside her.

"Its still hard to believe he can do such thing to you. What if its not what you're thinking? What if his phone was stolen or something? Jumoke asked.

"And what if he has already left me, Jumoke what if I'm already dumped and forgotten? Fummi cried on her..

Samantha was laying back flat on the floor of the cell where she was locked, her eyes staring at the ceiling and her mind wandering. Everything in her belly was crying out for food but she managed to remain calm even though it appeared that the people of Kebba were planning to starve them to death.

She had been there for several hours without hearing any sound from outside. She had called out to get attention but got no response apart from her voice echoing back to her. She decided to believe that all of them had gone for the festival and no one was around or close to the cell.

She began to imagine what was going on with Henry where he was. She knew he would have searched for her if he had broken out of cell and the fact that she hadn't heard any sound which suggested so meant that Henry had other plans. She had also realized that breaking out may not help them achieve their task.

The distant sounds of drumming, singing and chanting which she had been hearing since she had been left alone there began to subside gradually and after twenty minutes, it totally stopped but she didn't notice. Her mind was occupied and her body felt too empty. Not until she began to hear sounds of footsteps did she realize that the festival noise was no more.

She got up from the floor and hurried to the door. She was about to call for water when she saw two men already coming in her direction. She closed her eyes and heaved a sigh of relief on seeing that they had plates with them.

She opened her eyes when they got to the door and noticed that they were waiting for her to leave the door. She stepped back and walked to sit at the center of the cell.

They unlocked the door and the man holding the plates stepped in. He dropped them just beside the entrance and walked out again. They locked the door and walked away. Samantha rushed to take the plates. The round plate on top contained water while the one below contained the food.

She couldn't recognize what food it was when she opened the plate, the aroma wasn't enticing either. The food in shape looked like Macaroni but was larger and longer and of a different colour. There was no cutlery provided, so she dipped her hand in and began to eat. It didn't taste so bad, neither did it taste delicious.

Wilson barely allowed the men who brought in the food step back out before he rushed to the door to get it.

"Hello guys, I need to talk to you." Henry called after the men but they walked away without looking back.

Wilson took the plates of food and water to the center and sat on the floor to eat. He hesitated for a while for the lack of cutlery before he dipped his hand and began to eat without.

"I would finish this if you don't join now," Wilson looked up and said to Henry.

Henry only glanced at him. He wasn't so interested in the food. He moved closer slowly and took a little of the water. He got back up and walked to the door to check if there was anyone around but there was none.

18:23PM

Henry was yet to eat the food kept for him by Wilson. He had only taken some more water and remained silently at his corner, waiting to hear sounds of footsteps in the corridor again.

He finally got the sound he was expecting and he rushed to the door to check. He saw two men walking towards their direction. He stayed at the door to confirm if the men were coming to their cell or would stop before getting there.

He stepped back when they got to the door. The one with the key unlocked the padlock and opened the door.

"Titevere," the other man beckoned on them with a gesture of the hand.

Henry looked back and waited for Wilson to join him first before turning again to the door.

They both stepped out as the men directed them and proceeded forward through the hallway. The men followed behind them, holding their spears in front.

Samantha was already in the room Henry and Wilson were led to. It was a gathering of not less than ten other people sitting on short seats like footstools, all of them dressed in white except for the man who had brought Henry and his team to the house - the interpreter. Three of the ten men were sitting in front, the older man who the interpreter had taken them to sitting at the middle. Three others were sitting by the left side while four others were sitting at the right, with the interpreter at the edge.

Henry and Wilson were made to stand beside Samantha and five guards holding spears stood behind them.

"That's him," Wilson whispered inaudibly under his breath and caught Henry's attention. Henry did not hear his words but looked at his eyes and noticed his expression. He traced with his eyes who Wilson he was staring at.

Henry's eyes met with the man's eyes and he was sure without any doubt that the man was Ovil Matuse. He was sitting at the left hand side of the older man in middle. He appeared to be the youngest man among those sitting. Henry deduced in his mind that the older man was the High Priest who was said to be Ovil Matuse's father.

"Chii chatinofanira kuita kune varume ava vakaedza kumisa kuiswa?" the older man said in the Kebban language, asking the other men what to do with the strangers that wanted to stop the ordination.

"Ngatinzwe kubva kwavari," Ovil Matuse requested that they be heard first. The High Priest gave his consent with a gentle nod. "I heard you guys came in search for Ovil Matuse?"

The response was not sharp as expected. Both Wilson and Samantha turned to look at Henry's face wondering what his reason was for not replying quickly. Henry wanted to be careful in replying even though he was sure the man asking was Ovil. His spoken English sounded pure and better even though it still had an accent.

"Yes, we are here to see Ovil Matuse." Henry finally replied.

"You don't know him, do you?" Ovil Matuse asked.

"I've never met with him but he seems like no other one but you," Henry answered.

"I don't know you," Ovil said with a frown. "But why did you choose to come on this day?"

"We needed to see you," Henry replied.

"And you couldn't come after the festival?"

"We only found out there was a festival yesterday and we never knew what kind of festival it was," Henry answered.

"You should have made more enquires."

"More enquires?" Henry frowned. "No one understands English language here."

Ovil was silent for a moment, then he whispered something to the High Priest. The High Priest stared at the strangers for a while and then turned to whisper back to Ovil.

Ovil stared at them for some seconds before speaking again. "So, why are you here? I've never met you before, why do you need to see me?"

"We are here to see Morris, I was told he came here with you some months ago."

Ovil frowned. "Which Morris are you talking about?"

"You took him from Vincil in Bethanna," Henry replied. "You were driven to Vincil in Tanko's vehicle and he also drove you back to the border."

Ovil frowned harder. "But Morris isn't supposed to have any friend visit him, no one knows he's here, how come you are here for him?"

"You seem to have forgotten this face," Henry said, pointing to Wilson.

Ovil stared at Wilson's face for a while and was finally able to recognise him.

"You! You betrayed him," Ovil accused.

"No, I didn't. This man here is Morris' best friend and he's only here to help him," Wilson replied.

Ovil stared at them quietly, he kept moving his gaze from Henry's face to Wilson and back.

"Will you take us to Morris now?" Henry requested.

"Yes, I would." Ovil replied with a frowned face. He turned to the High Priest and whispered some words to him. Then he looked towards the guards and spoke to them. "Nditorere vamwe vashanu varindi."

Two of the guards went out and returned with five more.

Ovil got up from his seat and said some words to the elders before proceeding forward.

"Follow me," he said to them as he walked past.

Henry and the two others turned, the guards turned and followed after them.

After walking through hallways and sitting rooms for about two minutes, they got to a short hallway with four rooms in it. Ovil led them to the last room at the right hand side.

The door of the room was opened but a thick curtain was covering the entrance. Ovil raised the curtain and walked in. Henry followed him with Samantha and Wilson behind. The guards also entered.

A man was sitting on a wheelchair facing the window, his back was turned to them. He was still and did not bother to turn even though he sensed that some people had entered into the room.

Ovil walked to the man and bent beside him. "Some people are here to see you."

The man remained still without giving any visible response. Ovil got up and turned the wheelchair backward.

Tears formed in Wilson's eyes as he saw Morris' face again. Henry was disturbed, here was Rex sitting in the wheelchair but a totally different Rex it was.

"Hey, take it easy!" Henry exclaimed as he was pushed into the cell by the men. Wilson was thrown in after him.

The men did not wait to listen to anything as they closed the door of the cell and walked away immediately.

"Are you okay?" Henry asked, looking at Wilson who was struggling to get up. He moved closer to him to help him up but Wilson refused his help.

"Leave me alone," Wilson wriggled his hand off Henry's grip.

He struggled to get up with his hurting back but almost collapsed to the ground but for Henry who held him and pulled him closer to the wall to rest his back.

"Leave me alone," he pushed Henry away again out of frustration. "I told you we were not supposed to come looking for him, there's no way we would get out of here now."

"Relax young man," Henry stared at him with caution. He began to regret bringing the young man along but he remembered that it was necessary to bring him or Tanko and he was the best option. "We would get out of here, relax man."

"These guys are barbarians, sorcerers, witches and wizards. They might end up using for sacrifice," Wilson complained, the look in his eyes showing regrets for agreeing to come with Henry.

"They're not going to do anything to us," Henry replied him in an assuring tone.

He took in a deep breath and stepped back. He looked around the cell walls slowly and then looked at the ceiling. He moved closer to the wall and touched it to confirm the material. The walls were made of strong bricks and were painted red. He moved to the small window located at the top of the back wall and held the metal rods used to make the burglary proofs. It was made of strong materials, harder than he expected. He walked to the door which was made of the same metal rods. He held the door at both sides as he moved his face closer and to look outside. He took a moment to check the padlock used to lock from outside, it was a huge one which Henry knew would be difficult to break.

He turned back into the cell and went to sit beside Wilson. He faced his palms on the ground as he stretched his legs forward. He closed his eyes and began to think of the next step to take.

He believed breaking out of the cell would not be a difficult thing to do, the only little challenge he had was Samantha being put in another cell which he didn't think was close to where they were. There was no way for him to talk to her. They did not bring their phones to the place and the communicator which they brought had been taken from them by the men who took them to the cells.

On a second thought, he realized that there was no need for breaking out of the cell. There would be people injured or even killed during the process and it would lead to the unfulfillment of their task there. The best option they had was to remain calm and watch the men. He was also sure of Samantha's ability to fight if the need arose, all he hoped for was that she also remained calm for the time being.

Florence Brown walked briskly through the dark corridors heading for the conference room where Aaron was waiting for her. Something seemed different that morning, there were more people in the strategy house and it appeared that there was a meeting of some sort.

She passed through a couple of men who gave her no attention as she proceeded. She took out her phone as she turned into the corridor that led to the hall and dialed Aaron's number.

"I'm close, please open the door." she said into the phone and kept it back into her pocket.

She walked some few more steps to the door and it opened as she got to the entrance. She walked in and the door closed behind her.

Three men including Aaron were sitting on the sofas at the left side of the hall and they had their eyes on her as she looked at them.

"Congrats Florence, you passed your first task." Aaron said, raising a glass cup. "Come take a drink," he offered.

She walked closer to them. "No, thanks. I don't drink."

There were two bottles of wine on the table at the center of the sofas and three glass cups, one was completely empty showing that one of the three men was not drinking with them. She recognized the other two to be part of the men who had interviewed her the day before.

Aaron got up from the sofa and began to walk towards the large table at the center.

"So, are you just coming from the airport?" Aaron asked.

Florence ceased a breath, wondering why he was asking the question. "Yes, I'm coming from the airport." she answered and joined him at the center of the hall.

"What were you doing there for so long?" Aaron asked, as he turned one of the chairs to sit on.

"I needed to clear off the records before returning," She answered. "Without clearing the records, Stanley could get to be traced by the security agencies."

"I thought you used a different profile and identity for him," Aaron asked, he took another sip from the glass cup.

"Yes, I did but I still had to clear off the records. Any intelligent and hardworking officer could trace him up with the fake profile."

"You're right, we were watching you." Aaron said. "You disappeared within the airport only to return to the car after seventy minutes."

"Yeah, it took me time to gain access."

"You did a good job though, Stanley has been received by our partners in Anthanna and he should be settling down to do the job we have for him there."

Aaron had barely finished talking when the door to the hall opened and two men dressed in black suits stepped in. One of them was the man called Daysman. He took off the dark eyeglasses from his face and kept it in the inner pocket of his suit jacket. The other man walked further in to join the other two at the left corner leaving Daysman at the entrance.

"Mr Daysman," Aaron let out a wry smile on seeing Daysman.

Daysman looked towards him and proceeded in the direction.

"Aaron," Daysman hailed and let out his hand for a handshake.

"Here's Florence Brown," Aaron introduced her to Daysman.

Daysman turned to her and offered a handshake. "I heard about you yesterday Miss Brown," he said with a stern look. "I checked your records and didn't find anything contrary to what I read."

"It's my pleasure to meet you Mr Daysman," Florence said as she took his handshake.

"So, how was your first task?" Daysman asked her.

"It went easy," she replied.

"I see, I sincerely hope other tasks goes easy for you as well," Daysman said before turning back to Aaron. "I got the call from the boss," he said to Aaron.

Aaron raised his brows and then let it drop in a second. He looked at Florence. "Please excuse us Miss Brown, I'll call you when I'm done with this conversation."

She bowed slightly and turned away. Daysman turned a chair around and faced Aaron. They waited for her to get out of the hall before they continued talking.

"We have to be careful of her, she has no stakes with us." Daysman said, referring to Florence.

"You watched her in the airport, did you notice any fowl play?"

"No," Daysman shook his head. "She's new and she's intelligent, her intuition would let her know we are watching her and she might be trying to gain our trust."

"You don't seem to like her at all," Aaron noticed.

"No, don't get me wrong. Looks like she's going to be a great asset but we have to be careful," Daysman replied. "The boss has said we should find her family, and even if she is genuine, we need to tie her to us before trusting her completely."

"What has the strategist said about her?"

"I heard nothing from him, I guess he's out of town for a business, he should be back this week." Daysman replied.

"How about the FOX, are they still trailing you?" Aaron asked.

"I guess they should but I'm very careful, they can't get me by trailing." Daysman replied.

Aaron chuckled.

Suntan Farms, Bexford
Bethanna.

"Here, have it. This is the our uniform," a middle aged woman said as she handed a neatly folded overall to Evelyn.

"Thank you ma," Evelyn replied as she took the cloth.

She turned and looked around, thinking about which place was right for her to change into the uniform. There were several people dressed in the same uniform passing through the common room, most of them had cleaning tools with them.

"Go through that door, you'd find the changing room at the back," the middle aged woman said to her. "Change into them quickly, I'll be waiting here for you."

"Thank you," Evelyn said and walked away quickly. She had just been employed to work as a cleaner in the company and she was resuming immediately.

She returned three minutes later dressed like every other cleaner, her long hair had been well packed and held together behind by a rubber band. She met the instructor already talking to another set of cleaners. She waited until the woman was through with the other cleaners.

"You're ready," the instructor adjusted her eyeglasses as she scanned Evelyn from head to toe. She looked smarter in the uniform than the woman expected, so different from the earlier of appearance of a "slay queen". "I'll take you to the section you'd be working for the month until reshuffling," the woman said as she walked to a table and pulled out the drawer. She took out a key and handed it to Evelyn. "Go keep your bags there," the woman pointed her to the cupboards meant for keeping the cleaners bags. From the label on the key, Evelyn was able to know which space was meant for her.

20 Minutes later

"What did you say your name is again?" A man standing behind a table asked her.

"I'm Tracy," Evelyn replied.

"We resume seven o'clock every morning here, the other workers resume by nine o'clock and they start using the stores most times by ten, that's why we come earlier to clean it before they arrive. We're meant to clean the store rooms for the eggs, the cold room for fishes and other foods, and all offices in this section. We work from Mondays to Saturdays, when you come on Monday, you check the roster to know where you would be working for that week. Do you get me?"

"Yes," Evelyn nodded.

"Okay, today is the last day of the week already, so go join those cleaning the cold room." the man concluded, pointing her in the direction of the cold room.

She picked the tools meant for her and hurried to join those already working there.

"Hi, my name is Tracy." she introduced herself to a male colleague who she was working close to.

"Hi Tracy, you look new here." He replied after giving her a glance.

"Yeah, I'm new." she answered.

"Welcome, I'm Jacob. You can call me Jakes," he replied her and continued his work.

"How long have you been working here?"

"Four years," he answered.

"Oh! That's quite some time," Evelyn smiled and continued to work silently just like the rest of the cleaners, she had gotten the right person she needed to be friends with. Her aim was to get to none other than Daysman in less than four days.

Steve was sitting alone in the investigation room, his right palm placed on the mouse and his eyes glued to the screen of the computer. He was checking through footages again, he had a note and a pen by his side in which he wrote the particular minute of each footage where he found something useful.

The phone placed by the left side began to ring. He glanced at it and saw the name of the caller. He picked and answered.

"Agent Sandra," he said into the mouthpiece.

"Hi boss, I found where Henderson's embalmed body was kept," Sandra said.

"What?" Steve got up from his seat. "Where are you now?"

"I'm there, Cravings Hospital, Off Billingsway." She replied.

"Wait for me, I'll join you in some minutes."

The next day Chinyere got into Nonso room and found him sitting by the window blind.

Seeing his mother he went to his bed taking his blanket to sleep, "Nonso what's all this? She asked.

"Please its too early I beg you, Nonso replied.

"Will you stop this rubbish! You think I didn't know what you were doing there? You think Chioma didn't tell me how you treated her and accused her of cheating on you? You should be lucky this didn't get to the ears of her parents because you would have been so sorry. Do you realize you are playing with the feelings of the only daughter of Chief Emeka? Would you have escaped the wrath of her father if he gets to know how you treated his princess when there are suitors piled up wishing she choose them.

Which Yoruba demon did this to you Nonso? Who did this to you! Chinyere shouted.

"Oh I feel so privileged and happy that Chief Emeka princess chose me, but did I choose her? Mom I've heard you, after all i have lived my life in the direction you and dad has been pushing me too. It looks like I am just living my life just to please you and dad while my happiness is being pushed aside. I understand okay and don't worry the knocking of door will hold, are you happy now? Nonso asked.

"Whatever decision I've ever made for you and your brothers are always the best, or has my decisions and choices gotten you into a bad and difficult situations? I shouldn't have let you go to this service in the first place and now I understand why I was having bad feelings when you were leaving. You and Chioma were cool and hardly had problems but then a stupid Yoruba girl came in the picture and tore you two apart. I won't let that happen, and if you know what's good for you, break up with her and stay clear from her, else I'll trace her there and give her a terrible warning she won't forget in a Hurry, Chinyere seriously said.

"Is that necessary? I am getting married to Chioma isn't that enough? Nonso asked.

"I want you to stay clear from that girl, you won't tolerate it if Chioma cheats on you shamelessly like you're doing. You better respect yourself and this family Nonso, else you'll feel the wrath of Chief Emeka, Chinyere said and Nonso heaved.

"Must you keep repeating that to me, I know this marriage is just for your interest because you know what this family will achieve when i get married to the chief Princess, you're just greedy thats it, Nonso said and Chinyere slapped him..

'I won't tolerate this insult, I heard what you did to Peter last night and if its that girl influencing you this way then I will take care of her myself, Chinyere said.

"What do you mean by that? Nonso asked with his eyes bulged out.

"I'll put her in her place so you'll come back to your senses. If you don't end this madness i'll do it myself Nonso don't dare me! Chinyere shouted.

"Don't you dare hurt her, I'll get married to your princess anyway let her be! Nonso shouted but Chinyere stormed out of his room.

Nonso called up Frank immediately, "hello man what's up? Frank picked up.

"I'm in hell man, this people already knows about Fummi and they arranged my knocking of door with Chioma in 2 days time, Nonso said.

"I thought this was already settled na? You knew you will get married to her so why the surprise? Frank asked.

"You think this isn't a surprise? I didn't want it to be this soon and they are so mad with Fummi, the things I'm hearing my mom spill out from her mouth, if I don't stay clear from Fummi then she will be in trouble because of me, Nonso said.

"You know then you were just engaged to Chioma, in days to come Chioma has the right to fight with Fummi or even arrest her because she's flirting with her man. I think the time has come you have to stay clear from Fummi if you truly love her, I'm sorry Man, Frank said and tears rolled out of Nonso eyes.

"Life is just so cruel, is so cruel, Nonso said in tears and dropped the call.

"Nonso Nonso please take it easy! Frank shouted but the call was already dropped.

"Whats the problem? Festus asked.

"Nonso parents arranged for his knocking of door with Chioma in 2 days time and if he doesn't stay clear from Fummi, she will be in danger because they can do anything to her, Frank replied.

"Knocking of door in 2 days time? Was he aware of that? Festus asked.

"Nop he was informed yesterday about it, Frank replied but Festus left him immediately and called Chioma.

"Yes good morning, and I told you not to call me again at least not now Nonso is around, Chioma said.

"You are not on bed with Nonso that I know, I've heard your knocking of door is in 2 days time, congrats, Festus said with anger.

"Why are you angry? You knew I was engaged to him and I think our little fun is over now, Chioma replied.

"Listen to yourself, you want to marry a man who doesn't love you? What kind of marriage will that be? Festus asked.

"Nonso will have no choice than to love and respect me else he will have to face my dad squarely. I'm not worried about that you know, please stay clear from me now, Chioma said and ended the call when she heard her mom voice approaching her room..

Fummi got up and checked her phone but she didn't see any missed calls from Nonso, she tried his number again but it was switched off. She took the phone and ran to Jumoke,

"What is it? Who is Pursuing you? Jumoke asked seeing how tensed Fummi was.

"No one is pursuing me, Nonso didnt return my calls despite I've been calling him all night. Now his number is switched off, I'm so scared, Fummi replied with tears already in her eyes.

"Oh Jesu! If I had knew this love will turn you to baby toy I wouldn't have pushed you to accept Nonso o. What do you want me to do na because i can't catapult myself to Igbo land, Jumoke said.

"You're so annoying, just get out, Fummi said and got inside.

"No vex na, this case sef tie big gele wey pass me, Jumoke said..

2 months passed by already and Nonso decided to visit home.

Fummi couldn't help but get scared on the eve of Nonso traveling, "its just for a week, I'll be back I promise you, Nonso assured her.

"I'm just worried and scared that you're leaving me, Fummi said.

"But I'll be back, I'm not done here yet you know, Nonso said.

"Please be safe and I'll miss you, Fummi said and hugged him...................

The next day Nonso arrived in his state which his driver was already waiting for him at the airport.

"You look good sir, his driver said to him..

"Thank you, where's Chioma? Nonso asked.

"I'm here, he heard a voice behind him, she slowly walked up to him and kissed him.

"I was thinking it was a joke when you said you'll be visiting, Chioma said.

"Well I wasn't joking then, let's go, Nonso said and they got into the car............

"Corper shun! Uchenna shouted when the car drove in.

"Sir we greet o bless your children biko, Peter added attempting to touch his boots.

"Biko stop this na, you both have been there before na, I dey still learn. Good to see you again bro! Nonso said and hugged his brothers.

"Where is that naughty boy? Chinyere asked coming outside and Nonso hugged her attempting to lift her up.

"Hey you look good, its like the place is not bad on you, Chinyere said.

"Not at all thats why I told you not to worry, where's papa? Nonso asked.

"He went for a meeting, let's go in, Chinyere said..........

That evening the family was complete and Okoye asked everyone to meet him in the sitting room.

"What's the matter? I hope everything is okay? Nonso asked wondering what the meeting is all about.

"Does it look like everything is not okay? Its about your engagement with Chioma, we will be doing her knocking of door in 3 days time, Okoye said and Nonso eyes bulged out.

"Knocking of door? Why didn't anyone tell me about this? Nonso asked.

"What's there to tell you? Chioma has been engaged for months now, don't you think its time to go for her knocking of door? When once your service year is over you will return and marry her. What's there? Chinyere asked.

"Still I have the right to know, you can't just bring this up to me as a surprise its not fair, Nonso said.

"What are you saying? Surprise what? Are we talking about another girl here? This is Chioma we are talking about here, we have to do something to convince her parents we haven't forgotten about her, Okoye said.

"Why is her parents worried? What are they thinking that I'll run away or what? If you want I can go talk to them rather than doing the knocking of door this soon and sudden, Nonso said.

"I won't let you do that! That is the main reason I asked you to come down here, we have already given them our word and we won't take it back for anything. The knocking of door holds in 3 days time so get prepared, Chinyere seriously said shocking Nonso.

Nonso looked at them angrily for a while, got up and left their presence.

"Did he just walk out of us? Okoye asked.

"Nonso get back here now! Uchenna shouted on him but Nonso didn't look back.

That night Peter went to Nonso room and met him drinking with a swollen eye. He heaved and closed the door behind, "you don't want to marry her? Peter asked.

"I want to be alone, please leave, Nonso replied.

"Its obvious you don't want to, but you know you can't do anything about this. We all didn't get married to our choice did we? But look we are happy, mom makes sure she chooses the best for us. You're even lucky, its Chioma who is your childhood friend which you shouldn't have complained at all, I'm so disappointed you know, Peter said and Nonso looked at him angrily and got up from where he sat.

"You are happy with your chosen wife because you've not been in love with another, I am more disappointed in you... All of you for that matter! Nonso shouted.

"So its true then, you fell in love with a Yoruba girl? Gosh I can't believe you Nonso! You know very well how our family gets married, you can't bring a stranger in here that's why we didn't waste our time to fall in love. You should have known better when you gave your heart away to love, Peter said.

"Get out now, just go before I'll do something crazy, Nonso said.

"You are asking me to leave your room? Are you crazy or something? Peter asked.

"Get out now! Nonso shouted letting go of the bottle in his hand which scattered on the tiles making his elder brother scared.

Peter slowly walked out shaking his head and Nonso locked the door behind him angrily.

His phone began to ring and he checked it to see Fummi calling, he closed his eyes tight ignoring the call..

"What's wrong with Nonso? His not picking up his calls, Fummi complained to Jumoke.

"Babe you know he's going to call you back for sure. He's with his family now remember which they may be discussing and having fun at the moment, Jumoke replied.

"I don't know why I'm feeling scared, my heart is beating fast in a way.............. "Fummi relax! Nonso loves you doesn't he? Now chill, remove the drums with the sticks that is beating in your heart, after all i am not hearing the music sef, Jumoke said.

"When will you be serious for once Jumoke? Fummi asked.

"I cant kill myself with seriousness o, keep listening to the beating of your heart, goodnight, Jumoke said keeping the pillow to rest her head while Fummi looked at her.

"Please don't waste this moment, help me kill mosquitoes on My body iyeh, Jumoke added but Fummi hissed and took her phone to call Nonso again

Nonso was still with Fummi when Jumoke came back, seeing the atmosphere between them Jumoke knew something is different now.

"Where did you go to madam? Jumoke asked drawing her ears.

"Yes basket mouth you told him, Fummi said with a frown.

"Uhmmm, Jumoke just said looking at them with her hands on her chin.

"Here is your money, Nonso said giving her the 500naira he stopped Kemi earlier.

"No don't bother its fine, Jumoke said.

"Take this thing jare, stop forming for me, Nonso said pushing the note in her palm.

"Leave money matter fess, stop putting me in the dark na because I know there's something you guys are not telling me, Jumoke said with a frown.

"Hmm I know because the way your nose was open like Lion perceiving its target, I know you will say something, Fummi said.

"Eh I agree I am lion, so what's up? Jumoke asked.

"OK ma, I and Nonso are together now, Fummi replied and Jumoke screamed jumping up.

"Oh God stop behaving like a village girl abeg, Fummi said.

"Me village girl? You're mad! So you finally accepted him ba? See eh Nonso, let me tell you something about this Fummi, she was already in love with you sinceeeeeeee but she was deceiving her............. "I told him everything oo talk talk, Fummi cut in.

"If I hear na everything, Jumoke said.

"Yes everything you know, he knows it, Fummi seriously said and Jumoke looked at her trying to give her some signs which Nonso noticed and smiled at that.

"I know what you're thinking Jumoke, she told me everything including the pregnancy, Nonso came in.

"And? Jumoke asked.

"And I still love her and that will not change and I hope it gets to the next level and you won't disturb her again, Nonso replied.

"To continue with the and sentence, and go in there and eat your food and take your rest and don't disturb us again, Fummi added and Nonso laughed at that.

"Oh Jesu! Jumoke is this you this people are joking around with eh? Jumoke asked standing looking at them sad.

A knock was heard on the door, Fummi looked through the window to see who it was, "OK and Bello is here so go and.......... "Is okay! When i return by then Nonso will be gone, you will continue this and epistle with your head in between my laps, Jumoke said.

"Oh God that is murder! Fummi shouted.

"Yes and Nonso will not do anything, Byeeee, Jumoke said waving to go see her boyfriend waiting outside.

"And won't you let me see the lucky guy? Nonso shouted.

"And I don't want you too to jare, Jumoke replied closing the door behind..................

Going back home from Fummi place, Nonso called up Chioma on the way but she kept rejecting.

He heaved and texted her, "dear why are you not picking up? I just want to know how you're faring and how your journey was. Please forgive me no matter how hard it is, I'm sorry love, Nonso closed his eyes and sent it.

He arrived at the lodge and met his friends, "so he went to see someone thats why he's coming back, Festus said looking at him.

"See who? Nonso asked.

"The queen on your heart of course, Festus replied.

"I don't know what you're talking about okay, I only chilled out somewhere to cool my head thats all, Nonso replied and Festus scoffed.

"You want me to believe that? He asked.

"And who cares if you do? Please suit yourself, Nonso said and left them.

"Why not just let him be, stop interfering biko, Frank said.

"But he's not doing the right thing and as his friend we have to tell him the truth, Festus replied.

"Look Nonso is right, we don't know how he's feeling now which I know its not easy for him. You are not in his family and he alone can tell the weight on him now and how he's going to abandon the one he loves then spend the rest of his life with someone he doesn't love. Let's try to understand with him okay its not easy, Frank said tapping him on the chest and left to look for Nonso.

Frank saw Nonso sitting on a truck of a fallen tree, "please I'm not in a mood for your judgment, Nonso said to him.

"I am not here to judge you but talk to you. Have you talked with Chioma? He asked.

"She doesn't want to talk to me, Nonso replied.

"You feel bad? Frank asked.

"Somehow because i accused her innocently, I wish she did what I accused her of at least I will have a prove to hold on to which my parents won't deny me of that. But right now it's hopeless, Nonso replied.

"Do you have any hope of falling in love with Chioma if you get married to her? Frank asked.

"Do I have a choice? Nonso asked and Frank heaved.

"I'm sorry man, I usually think rich people doesn't have problems but in your case i am speechless and I don't know where I can help. I am so sorry man but I'll advice you just accept Chioma, match yourself with her and live in peace, thats all I can say, Frank said and Nonso nodded.

"You don't need to apologize for anything, you've tried as a friend and I really appreciate. But you see, I won't leave Fummi, the only thing that is going to separate us is when my stay here is over, Nonso said.

"You are going to break her heart you know, Frank said.

"She will be hurt, and i will be hurt too. But i am not going to end this love story now, I need to enjoy it until I leave so I'll have the strength to face my fate. I just hope she will forgive me, Nonso dropped making Frank speechless.

***ANXIETY AND BETRAYAL***




~At Home~




At home, I remembered Fafa’s proposal. It filled me with great trepidation. I knew Fafa was a good man but his tribe and what my parents' reaction would be sent cold shivers down my spine. I moved towards my bed but saw myself wobbling in the web of fear.

I was gloomy because my father had vowed never to allow any of his three daughters or son to marry an Ewe Man.

He always echoed it in our heads day in, day out and I knew his prejudice will never allow him to see Fafa from an objective view point. To him, if you are an Ewe, you are disqualified from the potential suitor race for his daughters, even if you were God-sent. Alas, love had no boundary. I have fallen madly in love with a Ewe Boy and to me, it’s irrevocable, because a revocation of my relationship with Fafa will tantamount to a betrayal of his love.




In order to keep my relationship a secret from my father, I made my friend Afua to promise me never to let any of my relatives or even my father know about my love affair with Fafa. Fafa and I came out with flying colours in the Final Exam with him been crowned the overall- best- student -of -the -year.




Our Graduation was very stupendous. My parents were very happy and proud of me for chalking such a great success. Since I did Business Administration, they promised to support me do my M. Phil in Business Administration to become an Administrative service Manager. As the days went by, my love for Fafa grew Stronger and stronger and I knew it would only be a matter of time before I would be caught by my dad, the veteran of the Second World War. I needn’t wait for long.







{Narration from a third person’s Point of view}




Be careful who smile to you. He or she may be a fake friend in disguise. People who you thought were your friends may be your secret enemies. Fake friends show their true colours when they don't need you anymore. They don’t keep their words. They talk behind your back and your worst enemies are their best friends.




Unknown to Abena, Afua had become Jealous of her relationship with Fafa because he was a handsome, intelligent and a humble guy who was seen as a national Hero.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to get a stable relationship with other focus-less boys, she tried to seduce Fafa. She cooked and brought it to him, she visited him at odd times, she feigned sickness and asked Fafa to come and see her, she wore provocative dresses like bare-back, show- your- stomach, I’m aware and other dresses that amplified extreme body curvature. Unfortunately, she was not naturally endowed with pulchritude and the dresses did nothing to accentuate her physique.




Then she changed her tactics, after realization dawned on her the most effective way of drawing Fafa’s attention was through the Christian line because Fafa was a staunch Christian. She became a by-forced born again, attending series of church programmes, all nights, prayers, conventions, healings, even joining the choir to sing just to impress Fafa.

Hmmm. It’s sad to say, all her efforts came to a stone end. It was a complete Fiasco. Fafa remained disenchanted by her so- called religious charades.




Then She tried to bad-mouthed Abena to Fafa telling lies that Abena was a flirt, she had chains of abortions, she had epilepsy, she was cursed by her grandmother. She didn’t truly love him, her father hated Ewes. At least, the last statement was true. Abena’s Father abhorred Ewes but her intention was not to warn him but to dissuade him from marrying Abena, her friend.




Seeing that she couldn’t break the robust bond of love between the Fafa and Abena, she decided to break the oath she had sworn to Abena and leaked the secret of Abena's love affair with Fafa to her Father. My dear Reader, at that point, the battle line was drawn and the story had just burst into life.

**FATHER'S ANGER***




(Narration from Abena's Point Of View)




I was preparing dinner one evening when I heard an angry, manly voice calling out my name," Abena, Abena! Abena! Where the hell are you!!!? I rushed out to meet my father.

"You miscreant!!!, You are dating an Ewe boy called Fafa. I warned you repeatedly against that backward, narrow minded tribe. Before I could open my mouth, he gave me a hot slap that felt like thunderbolt. "Oh, No, “Daddy had finally become aware of my relationship with Fafa, the Ewe boy. “Thanks to Afua. God would forever Judge her, “I cursed her.




A good friend always safeguard her friend's secret. Afua surely wasn't one of them. She was a bad friend who pretended to have my interest at heart, while secretly, envying me. I'd rather have an enemy who admits they hate me, instead of a friend who secretly pull me down. From that point on, Afua became my enemy.




My dad again gave me a stern warning never to see Fafa again despite all that I said to convince him about my love for Fafa. He shouted, "If I ever see you with that Ewe boy again, I would not hesitate to kill you both. Upon all the good men in this world, is it only an Ewe man that you have to love?"

"But are Ewe men not also men, what is wrong with dating them?" I asked.




"Shut up, and don't question me, “he shouted at me.




I told Fafa about the incident and he decided to take the bull by the horns by seeing my dad. As I expected, my dad drove him out of the house with a stern warning, “STAY AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER! YOU SCALLYWAG." WICKED PEOPLE, JUJU MEN!!!!




For about two weeks, I didn't hear from my love one. I became disturbed by this development and decided to pay him a visit. After all, Mohammed have to go to the mountain if the mountain would not come to Mohammed.

When I went to Fafa's house, I was stunned to see a young light brown skinned lady in his room laughing meekly with him. My heart sank.




"So this is what you are busy doing, frolicking around with ladies? I thought you are different but it’s obvious all Ewe men are the same, a band of cheats who chase anything in skirt, "I said angrily.




"I turned to the young lady and said “You boyfriend snatcher, who are you and what do you want with my boyfriend? “She looked surprised but I didn't care.

Fafa said, “Abena, you don't need to worry about Vivian, she is my......"




"Sister?“I cut in. "liar, I know it. How many sisters do you have? Maybe my dad’s admonition about you is true after all.

Without waiting for further explanation, I pounced on the young lady and began beating her but she proved stronger and defended herself, the result of which was me having a sore eye. Had Fafa not intervene in time, She would have hurt me more.

Unreasonable jealousy is a betrayed of trust. As it turned out, I later found out that Vivian was Fafa's Cousin but she was staying in Aflao and only came to visit him when she heard Fafa had won a scholarship to offer a specialist course in medicine in Britain.)




I felt greatly embarrassed and I apologized to Vivian for my irrational behaviour. "It's okay, dear, what you did showed how deeply you love my cousin and I really admire your courage to fight for what you valued, "Vivian said.




I spent the night in Fafa’s room till day break just to test him one more time. Fafa didn’t make a single attempt to even touch my fingers, let alone my Instruments.

From that point on, I vowed in my heart that I would never marry any other man except Fafa even if it meant death to me. It's either him or no one else. My Father must understand this was a matter of the heart.




Prior to coming to the University, I listened to my father’s advice not to date a Ewe Boy. He recommended a certain Fante boy by name Frimpong Kwame for me and being an obedient child, I decided to give him a chance. The moment I went out with him, I knew he would be a bad boy but my father seemed to trust him. He ended up taking away my pride as a virgin and tore my heart to shred by dating another girl.  Since then, I decided never to allow my father to influence my choice of marriage partner. Fafa was a gem of a man who never asked me for sex before. I vowed I will never leave him. Yes, Not even the cold face of death could be made me change my mind.

The incidence that occurred the subsequent week really put my vow to the test.

Nonso arrived at Fummi place but she was not at home, he tried her number and heard it ringing inside. He left to Jumoke place immediately, "have you seen Fummi? She's not at home, he asked after exchanging pleasantries.

"She's not at home? Then she won't be in her uncle place either. Chai this girl is so stubborn, Jumoke said.

"You know where she is? He asked.

"She'll be in the farm, she replied.

"Farm? To do what there when she's not strong enough, Nonso said.

"She may not be farming but looking at her brother and father graves. She normally do that when she gets bored, Jumoke replied.

"Christ! She does that all alone in the bush? Please can you take me to her? He asked but Jumoke scratched her head.

"I've collected too many permissions from my boss which I don't know he will grant me this one, she said.

"Can I talk to him? Nonso asked.

"Oh no he's not around either, she said and a young girl entered.

"Oh thank God, Kemi please can you take this uncle to Fummi farm? Pleaseeee, Jumoke approached her.

"Okay, the girl replied.

"Thank you, you came to buy something? Jumoke asked.

"No, aunty said I should pay for the money she owed you yesterday, Kemi said bringing out 500 note to her.

"Don't worry keep it for yourself okay, I'll pay her for you, Nonso stop the girl.

"Thank you uncle, the girl said.

"Its okay, can we go now? Nonso asked and she nodded.

"Erm please help me bring her back home, Jumoke said to Nonso.

"I will, let's go dear, Nonso said holding her hand.................

The bike dropped them at a point while they strolled down to the place, "uncle just go straight you'll see her, Kemi said pointing at a path.

"Thank you dear, use this to pay your way back home okay, He said giving her 200naira note.

"Thank you uncle, she said while he gently walked inside.

He saw Fummi sitting on the grass and her eyes bulged out when she saw him, "how did you find me here? She asked getting up.

"What are you doing here? He asked.

"I came to get fresh air and hear the birds sing, she replied.

"Are you not missing the most important reason you came here? He asked and sat down looking at her.

"I know Jumoke told you, Fummi said and sat down beside him.

"So are you relieved? Did you get to talk to them? He asked.

"Can they hear me? I just believe they do, she said sadly.

"If you need anyone to talk to, you have living beings to converse with and not spirits, you don't need to that anymore. And if I may ask, what is troubling you? What answers do you need? He asked.

"Nothing, I just want to keep them and myself company that's all, Fummi replied but Nonso was quiet saying nothing.

"How is school and the students? She asked after being quiet for a while.

"They are fine and they send their greetings. Can we go home now Fummi? You haven't taken your drugs yet, Nonso said getting up and stretched his hand to her.

She smiled and held it while he helped her up, they strolled out of the bush together and got home.

"Can I give you something to eat? Fummi asked but Nonso wasn't himself which she noticed it.

"Are you okay? You're acting strangely and its obvious, Fummi asked and he looked at her.

"You do notice things? He asked and she nodded.

"Then why didn't you notice my love for you or was it not obvious enough? Nonso dropped and shook his head getting up.

"Sorry I don't have to say that and I'm so sorry. Please take your drugs and take your rest, i'll be leaving now, Nonso said but Fummi held his hand.

"Yes it was obvious enough and I am very sorry if my response to you got you angry. Nonso I do love you too despite how I fight it, but I can't help but get scared, Fummi said and Nonso looked at her.

"You love me? Fummi since when? He asked.

"Since when I saw you at Jumoke bar, the kind way you talked to me and when you saw me in school despite the work I was doing touched my heart. But we are of two different worlds Nonso and I......... Nonso closed her lips kissing her.

"Can you stop the comparison now Fummi, Nonso said drawing her close.

"I hope this works out good, I have a confession and I think you have the right to know, Fummi said.

"Okay I'm listening, Nonso said.

"Please promise me you won't leave me when you hear this, Fummi said and Nonso seeing the fear in her eyes knew it was something serious.

"Fummi what is it? You're making me scared already, Nonso said.

"I once had a child..... "What! Nonso dropped.

"No no no is not what you're thinking please. When my brother was still alive, he had a problem with some set of guys somewhere and... And... They attacked one day when I returned from school... And... And no one was at home and they............. "Its okay I understand, Nonso said hugging her seeing how the tears choked her up while she cried on him.

"When did this happen? He asked after some time.

"About 4 years ago, Fummi replied.

"Where's the child? He asked.

"I had a miscarriage so I lost it, I would have had a child but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Nonso I know you're already ashamed of me but I'll understand, Fummi said.

"What wrong did you do? I see a decent lady in you and that made me fall in love with you and that's what matters most to me okay. You don't need to be scared or ashamed of anything alright, Nonso said and pecked her which she forced a smile.

"Now I'm deeply in love with you, if you hurt me I don't know how I'll get over it, please don't break my heart, Fummi said covering her head on Nonso chest and Nonso heart began to beat fast hearing that.

Jumoke returned and met Nonso sitting outside, "is she sleeping? She asked after they greeted.

"Yes but I have to go now, when she wakes tell her I'll see her tomorrow, Nonso said.

"Okay no problem, thank you, Jumoke said and he left.

Nonso met with his friends and he wasn't happy at all, "is it that serious? How is she? Frank asked seeing his mood.

"She's doing good, Nonso replied.

"Then why is your face this way? Festus asked.

"Never mind I'm just tired, Nonso replied.....

Fummi woke up and found out Nonso already took his leave, "why didn't you wake me up? She asked.

"I didn't want to disturb you, Jumoke replied.

"Still you should have done that, did he look like he was angry? Fummi asked and Jumoke shook her head.

"Why? She asked.

"Nonso is in love with me but I can't accept him, Fummi replied.

"Did he tell you that himself or you're just guessing? Jumoke asked.

"He kissed me Jumoke and he thought I love him that way, Fummi replied.

"So how do you love him? Jumoke asked.

"As a friend of course, she replied.

"Sorry to say this, but it looks like the beatings got into your brain. Friend indeed, Jumoke said.

"You know I don't like that Jumoke, you are insulting me, Fummi said.

"Sorry ma, its your love life not mine and I don't think I am in any position to tell you how to feel for Nonso. If the friendship and love you have for him is just for a friend, fine its your choice, Jumoke replied.

"You make it look like I did bad telling you my problems, what's the problem with you? Fummi asked.

Look at the care and love he showed to you and you taking it for granted, that's not fair and you know I'll tell you just the truth. No wonder I met him sitting all alone outside sad, now I understand why, Jumoke said.

"Tell me you're joking, Fummi said and got her phone.

"You want to call him and tell him what now? Jumoke asked.

"That he shouldn't be angry nau, Fummi said.

"Madam drop that phone if you don't know why you want to call him. I thought you'll say to thank him for today and you're telling me another thing, Jumoke said.

"I don't just like your tone this evening, did Bello get you angry or something? Fummi asked.

"Take my boyfriend out of this o, you're so annoying, Jumoke said and left to the room leaving Fummi surprised.

"Jumoke wait you're scaring me, Fummi said meeting her in the room..........

Nonso eyes was just wide open that night and Frank noticed it. They strolled out sitting somewhere, "can you now tell me what's bothering you? Frank asked.

"chioma is cheating on me, Nonso replied.

"Are you hurt or angry with that because you're doing same to her na, Frank said.

"You mean I am cheating on Chioma? You really think Fummi is like her? Nonso asked.

"Well i don't know but you shouldn't get angry because you don't even love her, Frank said.

"Now that's the problem, I don't love her and she's cheating me but still we can't end this engagement bullshit between us. I am bleeped up man and its driving me crazy, Nonso shouted and Frank heaved.

"Does Chioma want this to be called off too or just you? Frank asked.

"The bitch doesn't want to call it off but she's fucking another Man. Is that the kind of girl I will marry as a wife? Nonso asked.

"Mind your language Nonso, it hasn't gotten to that, Frank said.

"It has and it has even exceeded, I am tired Frank. I just want to end this and be in peace because I am scared for Fummi. If I carry on with my relationship with her and she get to know about this how will she feel? I don't want to hurt her and this is where i am hooked up, Nonso said.

"Calm down man and take things easy. I think you should call up or meet with Chioma and settle this case between yourselves first. If you two are on the same track then it will be very easy for your parents to take it with good fate and give up else this thing will keep on dragging and trouble will set in between the two families. You need wisdom to handle this and anger won't make you think right, Frank said and Nonso sighed closing his eyes.

"Thanks man, you're the only sensible person I can run to now, Nonso said.

"Eh thank you, try get sense too because you and Festus no get sense at all. You can imagine how pained I am, Frank said and Nonso burst out laughing.

"Because you manage get sense today you don dey brag, mad man, Nonso said.

"Abeg make I go sleep, your own better you get two women but i come dey share for your wahala like say i been send you work, Festus said getting up from where they sat.

"I for like dash you one but you no go fit, Nonso said getting up with him.

"Abeg carry go I no want, i know where i wan go pick my own, Frank said.

"For where be that? I fit sponsor you o, Nonso said.

"Na Calabar o, I hear say their bride price no cost abi na true? Frank said and Nonso started laughing.

"You no wan tell me true Frank, na because of bride price you sure? Nonso asked.

"na you sabi wetin you dey think, na easy bride price I dey find, Frank said.

"Frank frank! Nonso shouted hitting him.

"See i go break your head this night, if you see calabar girl tell me o i don finish, Frank said.

"Festus must hear this tomorrow o, from Delta you wan go Calabar, no wahala, Nonso said.

"If I hear this thing from Festus mouth eh, Osun and the whole nation no go fit separate our fight, try me and see. You wey Leave Abia go Osun you see me talk? Frank said while Nonso laughed and fell on him.

Nonso phone began to ring and it was Fummi calling, "I go meet you inside make i pick this call, Nonso said to frank.

"I been don already go since bye, frank said and left.

"I thought someone should be sleeping by now, Nonso said.

"Good evening, sorry i wanted calling when i woke up but i had low battery. Thanks so much for today, Fummi said.

"You didn't have to, how are you feeling now? He asked.

"Better, she replied.

"OK just go to bed, I'll see you tomorrow, Nonso said.

"Please attend to the students first before coming, I'll be fine, Fummi said.

"If that's what you want but I'm more familiar doing it with you. I'll just miss you there you know, Nonso said and Fummi swallowed.

"Okay good night, she said and dropped the call.

"No Nonso stop doing this to me, Fummi quietly said.

The next day Nonso called up Chioma and after 3 rings she picked up, "why are you disrupting a good sleep? She asked.

"Good morning, Nonso replied.

"What's good about the morning and why are you calling? She asked.

"Can we see Chioma? Nonso asked and she giggled.

"You really think I'm in Osun? She asked.

"I don't know but we need to see because its important, Nonso replied.

"Well I am going back this morning, if you have anything you want to discuss with me you can do it on phone okay, Chioma said.

"Chioma let's not make things difficult for us okay. You don't want this relationship, won't it be better we just call it off and save ourselves this unnecessary stress? Nonso asked and Chioma laughed.

"Nonso Dike, when I get back home you will explain what you just said to me to my parents and yours. You will tell them how you caught me cheating on you and I'll also tell them how you are in love with a village girl, you know what that means right? Chioma asked.

"Are you denying the fact that you're not cheating on me? Nonso asked.

"Oh please spare me this Nonso! I left to Lagos to see my friend and we visited the gym together, of course I was breathing hard and you suddenly concluded I was on bed with another man right away just because you're doing same. I can't take this anymore Nonso and I will reveal everything when I get home, trust me when i say you will pay for this, Chioma said making Nonso scared.

"Wait wait I don't know what you're talking about, it was so obvious and you didn't deny it that yesterday, Nonso said.

"Did you give me a chance to explain my self? Nonso you told me I am disgusting, gosh I can't believe this, Chioma said and Nonso just paced around scratching his head.

"Gosh Chioma how am I suppose to know when you didn't tell me you won't be going home. I'm sorry okay, Nonso said.

"You're sorry? What are you really sorry for? Is it for cheating on me or insulting me? Chioma asked.

"For everything, I'm sorry for everything okay, its not what you're thinking and I am not cheating on you, Nonso said.

"Oh please shut up, you think I didn't know? You really think I'm a fool huh? Chioma asked and he heaved.

"I am sorry okay, but I am not cheating on..."

"You are in love with another Nonso and that hurts!! Chioma shouted.

"Chioma please its not what you're thinking please I beg you. Don't tell anyone anything please, Nonso said.

"I shouldn't? But you wanted calling it off didn't you? Don't you think they should know? Chioma asked.

"Please I am begging, don't do this, I had a wrong perception of you and I am so sorry, Nonso said and she heaved.

"So what about her? She asked.

"Her? You mean the Yoruba girl you think I'm in love with? You know very well my family won't accept her so please don't bug yourself about that anymore, Nonso said.

"Nonso I like your sweet coated tongue and you should know I am used to it. I have some parking to do okay, Chioma said.

"Please honey say you've forgiven me, I'm sorry okay, Nonso said.

"Don't worry bye, Chioma said and ended the call while Nonso turned and saw Frank looking at him.

"Hello... Did I hear you correctly? Frank asked waving at him.

"This is not possible Frank, its stupid right? Nonso asked almost crying.

"Who exactly do you want? Frank asked.

"Does it matter huh? Nonso asked back.

"Was Chioma really cheating on you or it was just a lame accusation? Festus entered in..

"Please asking of more questions now is tearing me more, if Chioma should tell this to her parents and it gets to the ears of mine, I cant tell how the outburst will be. But I believe Chioma won't but she's so mad at me now, I have to apologize and make it up to her, Nonso replied.

"When last did you take malaria drugs because you're becoming crazy! You're confused man and in simple language you don't know what you want for yourself. Damn it! Frank angrily said and left leaving Nonso with Festus.

"I thought you were better than this Nonso, imagine you're putting two ladies in jeopardy, why not just choose the one you love and you are happy with and Bleep what your parents will do or say, Festus said.

"Oh you think it's that easy huh? Most times you guys sound like I'm a weakling and a fool or I don't know what I really want for myself when you guys have no idea what I'm going through now! You think this is easy for me huh? Nonso shouted.

"You make it more difficult when you let your parents determine and push you to wherever they feel like, rise up guy and face the challenge once and for all! Festus said and left while Nonso watched angrily.

He hit his fist hard on the wall as he became more tired of everything.......

Chioma jumped up happily after ending the call throwing kisses on the phone.

"You really think you can cut me off that easily Nonso? I know your weakness and that is me, watch me how I'll rule now Nonso Dike, she said licking her lips smiling.

"Now its time to go Chioma! She shouted taking her bag...........

Nonso couldn't concentrate in school and he switched off his phone just to avoid Fummi calls. He tried putting more attention on the students just to take his time, done with the students he left to the staff room with a student who helped carried their books, "

Sir how is Madam Fummi? Is she getting better Now? The student asked.

"Uhm yes, I was with her yesterday, Nonso answered forcing a smile.

"That means she'll resume soon? He asked again.

"Yes that will be next week I'm sure, thanks you can go, Nonso said to him.

"are we getting the books today sir? The student asked.

"No thats not possible, you know my assistant is not here, I'll get it ready tomorrow okay, Nonso replied.

"OK sir please send my greetings to her, the student said and left.

Nonso heaved covering his head on his desk thinking hard, he really want to see her but he doesn't want to complicate matters most.

Its clear to him that things might not work out between them and its better he start cutting it off now before it gets too late.

He tried fighting the feelings but he could not, he checked the time and saw it was part 2pm, "this is enough Nonso! He shouted and ran out heading to Fummi place.

Fafa looked at me and smiled. I knew you want to hurry up and finish that story. I won’t allow you to read it again. I want us to talk. After all, you paid me a visit, not to read a story book. Fafa took the story book and went inside his bedroom. My desire to finish the story far outweighed any ethical restrictions so I followed him to the bedroom, knelt down and said, "I beg, Fafa, please, let me finish reading the story.”




He looked at me and laughed hysterically saying, "I knew you will follow me.

I just want to confirm what I knew and you have proven me right. Abena, I'm impressed with you and your spirit of determination. From now on, I accepted you wholeheartedly as a friend. Please, take the story book- it's my gift to you.




“Fafa, you mean I can take the story book home? “I asked.

"Yes, dear" he said.

For the first time, Fafa called me ‘dear’.




I peeped into Fafa's eyes. He was so innocent and calm but underneath his innocence was a ray of love, glimmering across his impeccable sacrosanct appearance. I could feel the wave of ecstasy slowly announcing its arrival.




I asked myself, "Will it happen on this First visit?" Fafa reached out, held my hands, and gently took me out of the bedroom into the sitting room. As if he read my mind, he said, "Everything has a right time. Now, continue reading your story.

That evening when Jack arrived home with flowers in his hands and a smile on his face, His wife wasn't in the sitting room. He called her but still no one answered.

He decided to run up stairs. Upon reaching there, he found his wife in bed – lifeless, dead.

Rivers of tears flood his eyes and the bouquet of flowers fell from his hands. His wife was dead- from Cancer.  She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save him from whatever negative reaction from their son, in case they push through with the divorce. At least, in the eyes of their son— he is a loving husband."

“Oh God,” I said when I finished reading the story, Streams of tears stole their way into my eyes. I felt so sad. I felt I was Jennifer. She had demonstrated true unconditional, unwavering love. I asked myself what I could have done in that situation.

My visit to Fafa's Place became a weekly routine. We became very good friends. I felt so happy whenever I see Fafa. I can't live a day without seeing him. The friendship soon went deeper and deeper and eventually crossed the boundary of friendship into a relationship. One lovely weekend, Fafa took me to the beach.




We went to the beach to catch a glimpse of the sheer force of nature. The picturesque landscape, the golden sands on the beach and the smiling sun as it descended beyond the horizon, was an amazing sight. The roaring of the sea welcome us to its sandy Kingdom, in anticipation of the possible romantic adventure that was fast becoming eminent.




When we sat down on the cool golden sand, we talked about the future and the prospect of living together. We sat on the beach chatting and laughing as we stared at the awe-inspiring force of nature. Fafa got up and put his hand out to help me up. When my hand grabbed Fafa's hand, a sensation came over me and coursed through my body in an endless circle of pleasure. My sex pheromones surged like an angry ram. We clung to each other as if there was no tomorrow. To us, our tomorrow was today.




Fafa looked into my eyes. I gave him a slight smile and itched closer to him for a kiss. He responded instantaneously. The proximity of our bodies increased the insatiable love we had for each other on the vast open angry beach.

~On the Beach~




I have never felt this way ever since I was born. A lot of my course mates have mastered the game of love to the point of acquiring Ph.D. but I didn’t even have a BECE in love. One thing remained vivid to me, I loved Abena so much. As I said Early on, I have never dated any lady before meeting Abena. She showed me the gateway to pure ecstasy. She was one lady I would rather die than lose. I pulled Abena closer to myself and kissed her. It was a light kiss filled with passion. My heart was racing fast and my breath came in gasp.  I placed my free hand on her waist and began to pull her towards myself.




As we kissed we heard the angry waves crashing along the beach as if to signal its gigantic presence or perhaps tell us the number of countless romantic scenes they had witnessed on the same spot.




Suddenly, we stopped kissing and just looked into each other’s eyes as if to reassure each other of the unflinching love we shared. I felt my heart and soul belonged to her. Hours seemed like seconds and I wished I have the power to stop time forever. I wanted to spend every micro-second with Abena.




Abena looked at me and said, “Are you ok?” I shook my head and pulled her closer to my visibly shaky body.  She moved her hands down onto my chest and felt my heart pound. At that moment, an overwhelming feeling of excitement came over me like the rolling waves. The feelings were overwhelming. My mind was racing. I could not believe all these things were happening in real time. At that point, I realised why most of my colleagues behaved irrationally when they fell in love. I heard some of my gynephilic friends who were dating said,” first love is the best experience one can have. I reflected on that statement and asked myself, “Is it true?. Come to think of it, is virginity a state of naivety?

I don’t know the exact answers to this questions but I vowed to keep my virginity till the right time. Considering the way the force of love was magnetising me to Abena, I doubted if I could keep that vow till I say, “I do”




Abena looked straight into my eyes and muttered the words in her melodious voice, "I love you, Fafa"

Her words soothed my nerves. I was so excited. For a moment, I thought I was hallucinating. All these things looked like fairy tales. Then she repeated the words again, "I love you, Fafa"




That was the golden moment I was looking for. Gathering my courage and saying it in the most honest and candid manner, I uttered the words, "Will you marry me, Abena?"




I want to marry you after graduation. You are the missing rib I have been looking for. Now that I have found you, I felt very complete. I want to stay with you till death do us Apart."

His phrase "till death do us Apart" reminded me of the story I read when I first paid him a visit. Did he really meant it?




I was very happy with his proposal.

"Yes, Fafa, I will marry you... In fact, in my heart, I’m already married to you.




He was stunned at the unequivocal manner in which I responded to his proposal. He was not really convinced







Then he shocked me by bringing out a promissory ring, kneeling in the bed of sand, saying, “Abena my love, will you be the love of my life from now till we traverse this mortal world into the world of immortality, fitting in the rib which has been missing in my body for the past 18 years and embarks on this limitless odyssey of love with me, taking the role of the mother of my unborn children who will be the product of our infinite love?




With teary eyes, I said, “Yes, I will”.

The waves seemed to hear my verbal declaration and confirmation of our unblemished love. They clapped their hands in glee, been evidenced by the power they carried in their roar.




Fafa slipped the promissory ring on my longest finger, the one between the thumb and the last finger to the left.




That ring unearthed the hot ecstasy which remained caged in me for decades now. I thought it was time to let it out.




I imagined how love-making on the bed of sand on the sea coast, at the full glare of the happy waves, devoid of all other living things except Fafa and me would be. It’s surely going to be magnificent. I imagined a world without the gift of love- it would be one big boring, entertain-less place.




I agreed with Aristotle when he said, "Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.







My high expectation for a romance packed adventure on the beach never materialized. Fafa only said,” it’s time to go home.”




He held me by the hand as I reluctantly followed him, all my fantasies remaining only in the secret recesses of my heart. The one who wrote that instruction in the bible that marriage before sex might have been a Eunuch because that law seemed impracticable among 21st-century teenagers who burned with lust from the cradle of their birth to the grave of their death.




Today, sex is seen as fun and most adolescents broke their virginity on the shameless altar of lust in a century which liberalized and idolized sex. Don’t feel guilty; I’m not a saint either. Had Fafa made the move, I would have given him a romance filled experience on the vast open beach, even to the point of coition.




One thing is clear here, dating a “chrife” (a sexually naïve person) is not easy at all.

Nonso returned from the pharmacist with the drugs, and they went back home while Jumoke dropped by Fummi uncles place to inform them of what happened.

Soon they arrived at Fummi place and saw her, "when did you say this happened? Her eldest uncle asked.

"Yesterday night sir, just after I dropped off my friend who visited me. I was about opening the door when they got into the compound, Fummi replied..

"But I am just wondering, you hardly go out or look for trouble, Who could have done this to you? Another uncle asked.

"Sir I don't know and I am confused myself. But someone sent them which I am very sure of that and its a Lady, Fummi said.

"Lady? Ah who did you collect husband from na Fummi! One of them shouted.

"Uncle I didn't collect anybody o ah you know I can't do that uncle, Fummi immediately said.

"Uhmmm its okay, but How many were they so we can start informing the police about this, Her eldest uncle asked.

"Three sir, and their face were partly covered which I won't be able to recognize them, thats why I don't think bringing the police into this matter is necessary, it will just be wasting of money, Fummi said.

"Fummi! Jumoke shouted.

"Yes, what will they do when I can't identify the men who beat me up? Will the men still wait for you to bring the police to pick them or will the police answer you without money? Uncle please forget about it and don't waste your money please, God didn't give them the power to kill me and I will recover, Fummi said and Nonso coughed.

"Sorry sir i am interfering in this discussion, Nonso said.

"No its okay, Fummi uncles said.

"I also want those guys to be put behind bars but i think Fummi has a point here, if we get the police what exactly will they do? I think we should just be careful and Fummi should not be allowed to stay alone. If there was someone with her I don't think this would have happened, Nonso said.

"Fummi is stubborn! How many times have we asked her to stay with any of us but she bluntly refused, her Eldest uncle came up.

"Sir I am very sorry about what I want to say and I don't want you to take it as an insult or I am disrespectful. But please I think I am okay here sir, I can't leave this compound because of anything, Fummi said.

"You see, you see what i was telling you? A uncle said to Nonso.

"Fummi its just for a while, after what just happened you need to change environment at least, Nonso said.

"Nonso I just told you I'll be fine, it won't happen again and I am very sure of that, Fummi replied.

"Don't worry, she's a grown up girl and we can't force her. Since she said she'll be fine then that's alright, her Eldest uncle said and got up which the rest followed.

"We will take our leave now and sorry for what happened okay. Don't keep late night and be very careful, a uncle advised and she got up thanking them.

"Its okay, we will be coming to see you from time to time okay, her uncles said and they all left...............

"Fummi o I am not happy with you to be very sincere. Why are you refusing to stay with people huh? What if they had killed you here? Jumoke asked.

"What do you want me to do? Stay with them? No way! Fummi shouted.

"OK fine let's not drag about this, I and Jumoke can be visiting is that okay? Nonso asked.

"No I won't anymore cause she doesn't visit me either, Jumoke said.

"What's all this Jumoke? Fummi asked.

"Jumoke can you just understand with her and let's all respect our decision, Nonso said.

"You are saying that because you didn't see Fummi last night. If i didn't drop by last night what would have happened to her? Jumoke said and Fummi held her.

"I'm sorry, Fummi calmly said.

"You just have to be sure this won't happen again thats what matters to me now, Jumoke replied.

"This won't happen again, maybe it was a mistaken identity, you can never tell, Fummi said smiling to cheer her up.

"Mistaken identity indeed, Fummi said with a frown.

"Okay you have to take your drugs Fummi, but first you need to eat, Nonso said.

"I'll get your food, Jumoke said and left leaving her with Nonso.

He brought out a balm and took her hand, "what are you doing? Fummi asked.

"You'll see, Nonso said and gently rubbed the balm on her massaging her.

"Don't worry Fummi, I'll take care of you from now on, Nonso said looking at her.

"Why are you doing this? Fummi whispered.

"Isn't it obvious? Nonso asked.

"I...i...I don't understand, She said with her heart beating fast.

"Some things are better of not said but noticed. I'll patiently wait so you'll see it for yourself, Nonso replied and Jumoke walked in with a tray of food.

"For all of us, Jumoke said keeping it on the table.

"All of us? Fummi do you remember that tortoise story? Nonso asked smiling.

"Fummi didn't love reading textbooks in our primary school days so she won't read that, Jumoke replied.

"You're crazy, you hated readers most and always lost it anytime your mom gets you a new one, Fummi replied.

"Liar, If so do you know the story? Jumoke asked.

"Yes, its the story of the stingy tortoise who claimed the name all of us just so he can eat the food alone. You know sometimes you behave like that tortoise when it comes to food, Fummi said.

"Fummi! Jumoke screamed and they burst out laughing.

Nonso got a call and it was chioma dad calling.

He got shocked seeing the call and excused himself from the ladies, "hello sir, good afternoon sir, Nonso greeted.

"Afternoon Nonso, how is you and Chioma doing? He asked..

"Very well sir, Nonso replied not getting his question.

"Is that why you don't want to release her back? He asked.

"I don't understand sir, Chioma returned yesterday, Nonso replied.

"We haven't seen her that's why I called, he said.

"Chioma returned yesterday and she called me saying she arrived safely. I'll call her right away, Nonso said.

"Please do and let me know, he said and dropped the call which Nonso called Chioma immediately.

After 3 rings she didn't pick up which he continued calling.

"Yea baby, good afternoon, she answered trying to catch her breath.

"What were you doing? Nonso asked.

"Baby something, I'll call you back okay, Chioma said.

"Don't you dare end this call on me! Where are you? And why did your dad call asking why you're not back yet? Nonso asked.

"What! He called? Chioma asked.

"You heard me right, you didn't return back home as you told me and where are you! Nonso shouted.

"And what do you care? Where are you too Nonso? Are you not with your girlfriend enjoying yourself? Chioma shouted back.

"Is that so? You left me to go meet with another man? Nonso asked.

"I left you or you did? well you were never there for me so stop complaining and acting like you care, Chioma said and Nonso laughed.

"So you're shamelessly on the bed of another man right? Just look at the way you're panting like a deer escaping from a hunter. You're so disgusting, Nonso said and dropped the call.

He switched off his phone and went back to the house to meet the ladies, "is there a problem? Fummi asked noticing his mood.

"No not at all, he replied.

"Fummi, I'll be going to work now but I'll be back early okay, Jumoke said coming out from the room.

"No problem dearie, thank you so much, Fummi replied.

"See you tomorrow Jumoke and thanks for everything. Use this for transport please, Nonso said giving her a note but she refused.

"You're rejecting my offer? Nonso asked surprised.

"You've done enough already, bye and take care of her, Jumoke said and left immediately.

"Don't mind her, thats just how she is lovely, annoying and sweet, Fummi said smiling but Nonso closed her lips with a kiss.

Fummi didn't know when she slapped Nonso after kissing her.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Nonso said facing down.

"I'm sorry too but you should have asked first, Fummi said and he looked at her.

"What if I had asked, would you have said yes? He asked.

"You may never know, Fummi said and kissed him herself.

"You didn't politely ask for that you know, Nonso said smiling at her while she faced down shyly.

"We should not be doing this, I'm having a bad feeling here, Fummi replied.

"But why? He asked.

"I don't know you Nonso, she replied.

"What is it you want to know about me? Just ask, he said touching her face but she looked away.

"I'm just scared, I don't know yet if I should trust you, Fummi replied.

"Scared of me? Come on, don't say that you're making me look like a bad person here, Nonso said.

"Please can we not talk about this now and pretend like this never happened? I can't do this I'm sorry, Fummi said.

"You haven't told me why you're saying this. I thought you love me Fummi? Nonso asked.

"What makes you think it was an intimate love? She asked back and he nodded.

"I think I should apologize then for thinking it wrong, I'm sorry, Nonso said and distance himself from her.

"What's that for? She asked.

"You just have to calm down okay, he didn't meet us on Bed did he? Festus asked.

"Are you thinking well at all? My dad called him doesn't that tell you something! Chioma shouted on him.

"OK OK I understand but you still have to take things easy, Festus said.

"This is all your fault, I wanted leaving this morning but then you showed yourself to me and we ended on bed. Now this is the result, Chioma said.

"You're sounding like you're regretting when you enjoyed it, Festus said.

"Spare me that okay and stop joking in a serious matter. Please you need to go, Chioma said.

"Why do you keep pushing me away like an unwanted or dejected being? how will you feel I i do same with you? Festus asked.

"Well what do you want? A trophy? No just tell me and I'll give it to you. The fun is over now leave because i have something important to do! Chioma shouted pointing the door while Festus looked at her angry.

Nonso stayed with Fummi and watched her slept off, he took his phone and switched it on seeing a text from Chioma, "don't you dare push me to the wall Nonso else you'll regret it" He read and deleted it from his inbox hissing loudly and called his elder brother going outside.

"So someone called today, His bro picked up.

"I'm in deep shit, very deep i think, Nonso said.

"What are you even saying? If you're in shit that means you need a bath why calling me? His bro asked and Nonso heaved.

"Chioma is already cheating on me bro, I don't want this engagement anymore, Nonso said.

"Which Chioma is that? Is it the one that left to see you? His bro asked.

"The one and only. Bro I don't need this anymore and can this yoke be pulled out of me? Nonso asked and his bro laughed.

"You should know the relationship your marriage between you and chioma will bring to our family. Think twice when next you want to cook up such an accusation against Chioma because no one will believe you, his bro said shocking Nonso.

"I don't believe this is coming from you, Nonso said.

"same way I don't believe you can cook such an expensive lie. We all know you didn't want this from the start but now its too late, you cant bring this insult to our family Nonso and disrupt something so important to us. Just take care and don't forget to wash the shit out of your body, his bro said and dropped the call leaving Nonso in anger.

He felt like screaming but then he remembered he was in the wrong place and he doesn't want Fummi to know about this.

"So its like i am never breaking up with this girl, gosh this is not happening, Nonso said not knowing what to do next.

The Forbidden Love - Episode 2

**THE VISIT**




Saturday @ 10.30

I dressed immaculately, decorating myself with the best make-ups. Even the fragrance from my perfume could kill an innocent fly. After making sure everything was done to perfection, I headed towards Fafa's hostel. He gave me a vivid description of the place so I have no difficulty in locating it.

I knocked on his door and he asked me to come in.

Upon entering his room, Fafa welcome me rather more friendlily.

We chatted for a few minutes and then he asked me to watch TV while he bathed.




I sat on his couch comfortably and faced the TV. GTV wasn't showing any interesting programme. Just when I was about to change the TV channel, my eyes fell on a story book titled: UNTIL DEATH DO US APART




I quickly muted the Television and focused on the story.

In the story, Jack and Jennifer loved each other so much but as the years went by, their love grew cold and Jack began seeing another woman by name Maureen. Then Jack wanted a divorce. Jennifer was grieved but she have Jack  her divorce conditions which is for them to pretend to live as normal a life as possible so as not to traumatise their son who had an  exams to write  in a month’s time.

She also requested to be carried  out of their bedroom to the front door every morning. Though the idea sounded crazy to him,he agreed. He did this every day and soon realized that their sense of intimacy was growing again.

Then he realised she had grown thin.

My story was interrupted by Fafa, when he returned from the bathroom, “I hope you are not feeling bored here." I answered, "Not at all, fafa. On the contrary, I am enjoying this story so much."







"Okay, keep reading it then, but what will you like to eat."




"Anything," I said, determined to finish the story I was reading before he interrupted.




"Anything?" he asked. So if I cook cockroach for you, I believe you will eat it without question.

We both laughed out loudly and I said, "No dear! I don't eat Cockroaches.




He continued, " then you need to be careful with what you say, so what can I cook for you?"




"Jollof rice," I answered finally.




"Okay, What about drinks?”




“I will like to drink SmirnOff, "I told Fafa.




The look on his face suggested he didn't have that drink in his fridge and he didn't expect me to mention an alcoholic drink.  Smirnoff was a brand of vodka with an alcoholic content.




"I will go get it for you, “he reassured me, dressed up and left for the drink. In his absence, I continued reading the story,”

Jack then decided to stay with his wife and break up with Maureen.

He told Maureen it was over between them and left.

My story reading was interrupted again by Fafa. He returned with the drink, feeling happy for his accomplishment. He said, "Here you are, Mademoiselle, I have gotten your drink.”




I smiled at him and said, "merci mon amour" which means," thank you, my love."




He responded, “you are welcome”. He then went to the kitchen to prepare the Jollof rice for me. I offered to help him but he declined saying I was his guest so I should relax. I used that opportunity to continue the story. .."

On his way home, he stopped at the floral shop and ordered a bouquet of flowers for his wife. The salesgirl asked him what to write on the card. He smiled and wrote, “I’ll carry you out every morning until death do us apart”.

I couldn’t finish the story before Fafa returned with a bowl of Delicious Jollof rice and Smirnoff drink. He set the table while I was still glued to the storybook. I heard fafa saying, Abena, can you leave that storybook for a second and eat the Jollof rice?"




“Yes, sir,” I said, jokingly and put the storybook down. I swallowed the food quickly because I wanted to finish the story.

"Fummi, fummi, I'll rush down to work now but I'll come back okay, Jumoke called gently shaking her.

"Is it morning already? Fummi asked.

"Yes, I'll go tell my boss what happened then I'll return to clean you up, Jumoke said.

"No, don't worry I will take care of myself, thank you so much, Fummi said.

"Are you kidding me? I said I will come back for you and what are you thanking me for? And don't you dare go to anywhere because I called up Nonso and told him what happened, Jumoke said.

"You did? Ahh you shouldn't have, Fummi said.

"What were you thinking? Look yourself in the mirror and tell me if you can leave the house this way. I'll get drugs for you as I return so just remain here, in fact I am locking the door outside, Jumoke said.

"No no please, I won't go to anywhere I promise, Fummi said.

"Thats better, at least you're relieved to talk when I get you drugs you'll be much better. I have to go now and when I come back you will tell me what happened, Jumoke said and hurried out of the house immediately.

Fummi heaved and looked around the house and felt like crying seeing Jumoke tidied up the place, "thank you so much Jumoke, she whispered and tried getting up but screamed and sat back as her legs hurt.

The guys went hard on her when she hit one and tried to escape. That was when they grew wild and scattered the house beating her terribly.

Recalling that she looked up and saw the photographs broken, "no no, she said and forcibly got up to look at it.

"Why should they break it! She shouted in anger..................

Jumoke lied when she told Fummi she has already informed Nonso about what happened.

She got his number from Fummi phone and called him up on the road, "hello, Nonso picked up.

"This is Jumoke speaking, Fummi friend, she said.

"Oh how are you? He asked.

"Not fine, Fummi was attacked yesterday night and was badly beaten, she replied.

"You're joking right? I left her yesterday and she was good, Nonso said.

"I don't know what happened because she hasn't told me anything yet. I was able to arrest the situation yesterday and I'll get her drugs to ease the pain, Jumoke said.

"Okay thank you so much, when I'm less busy I'll come over there, Nonso said.

"Alright I just thought you should know because she works under you, Jumoke said.

"she doesn't work under me, please take care of her I'll meet you both soon okay, Nonso said.

"Okay bye, Jumoke said and dropped the call.

"What's that? Festus asked.

"Fummi was attacked yesterday night, but I was with her throughout. Who could have done this? Nonso asked surprised.

"How are we suppose to know? Of course we don't look like investigators, Frank replied.

"Did she offend someone or something? Festus asked.

"I can't tell but I'll get to know what happened when I'll see her. See you guys, Nonso said and left for school.................

Festus kept calling Chioma but she wasn't picking up. He left to the hotel she lodged but was told she left already, leaving the hotel he insisted in calling her which she finally picked up.

"Must you run down my battery? She asked.

"Where are you? Festus asked.

"Back to my state, why? She asked.

"When was that? He asked.

"Yesterday of course, she replied.

"Surprised you left yesterday and your enemy was attacked yesterday too, was that your leaving package? He asked.

"What are you saying? Chioma asked.

"I know you're still here, as a matter of fact I saw you yesterday evening, Festus dropped and Chioma was already scared.

"Fine I am here but I'll be leaving tomorrow what's the point? I have nothing to do with what happened, Chioma said.

"Oh you're here? Well I just wanted to hear the truth from you, Festus said laughing.

"You lied! You mean you didn't see me yesterday? Chioma asked surprised.

"Of course not, I didn't go out yesterday. Common text me where you are and ok be there soon, Festus said and dropped the call smiling.

"Bastard! Chioma angrily shouted.

Jumoke arrived soon, fed and cleaned Fummi up before giving her the drugs she bought.

"Thank you girlfriend, I saw what you did to the house, Fummi said.

"Please save your strength so you can tell me what happened, Jumoke said trying to press her wounds and Fummi heaved.

"The photographs are broken, they should have done that to my spinal cord instead, Fummi said and Jumoke looked at her.

"Are you serious? Who would have fixed that? Oh please don't say that, the glass can be fixed but can your spinal cord be fixed? Jumoke asked.

"I don't care! They have no right to do that, what did i ever do to them? Fummi tried shouting.

"Hey please keep your voice low, you're not strong for that, just leave the shouting part for me, Jumoke said.

"Did you call Nonso? Is he coming to see me? Fummi asked and she nodded.

"Oh no look at the way I look, I can't let him see me like this, Fummi said with a sad look.

"How did you want to look fummi? You were terribly beaten girl, were you expecting you'll look like Beyonce? Well am glad I'm more prettier than you today, Jumoke said and Fummi drew her ears.

"Will you stop making me more sad, Fummi said and they heard a knock on the door.

They looked at themselves quite scared, "are you expecting someone? Jumoke whispered.

"Yes, my dad and brother ghost, Fummi replied and the knock came again.

"Fummi, Jumoke its me, they heard a voice outside.

"Its Nonso! The ladies coincidentally said Jumoke quickly got up to open the door.

Nonso walked in and quickly rushed to Fummi touching her, "who did this to you? He asked.

"I don't know, they were three guys and their faces were partly covered, Fummi replied..

"Did they say anything to you? Nonso asked.

"They said they were doing their job. A phone was ringing and one of them said "she's calling us again, Fummi said.

"Then it was a lady who sent them. What did you do? Did you offend anybody? Nonso asked.

"No way my friend can't even offend a fly. You need to see Fummi yesterday, gosh those guys are bastards! Jumoke shouted.

"I need to take you to the hospital, Nonso said.

"No please I'll be fine, Jumoke got me drugs, Fummi said.

"Don't tell me that, Nonso said and immediately carried her in his arms which got Fummi was shocked.

They looked at themselves for a while, "erm Nonso the door is this way, Jumoke seeing the look interrupted them.

"Sure, can you please hurry and get 2 bikes for us? Nonso asked.

"Sure, Jumoke said and hurried out.

"You don't have to carry me this way, please put me down I'm no kid, Fummi said.

"No way, from today you'll be my baby till you get well, Nonso said still carrying her.

"Oh no I am not comfortable with this, she said.

"OK should I throw you on my shoulders? He asked.

"What! I'm no baby gorilla please, she replied.

"Fine then be baby Nonso, he said laughed while she only smiled.

"How are the students? She asked.

"They are fine don't worry about them but get well soon okay, he replied and Jumoke arrived with 2 bikes.................

Festus met up with Chioma but couldn't stop smiling as he walked into her room.

"Are you spying on me or something? What do you want from me? Chioma asked.

"What are you saying and why are you hiding? Does Nonso know about this? He asked and she shook her head.

"But why? He asked.

"I wanted leaving yesterday but my flight was rescheduled for tomorrow so I had to lodge here, Chioma said and he smiled.

"You don't believe me? She asked.

"Sounds tricky but why was she attacked yesterday? He asked.

"Who are you talking about? She asked.

"Nonso.... You should know her, Festus said winking at her and she scoffed.

"Do I even know her? What makes you think I have anything to do with what happened when I know no one here, she said.

"If so why were you outside yesterday evening? He asked.

"Who said anything about being outside yesterday evening. When you said you saw me I was thinking you saw me when i wanted lodging into another hotel that's all. Are you here to investigate and arrest me? Chioma asked.

"Calm down honey just that whoever did that has a big problem with Nonso. I am sorry i shouldn't tell you but don't feel bad okay, Festus said and wanted touching her but she beat his hand off.

"If you're done now leave, Chioma said.

"Baby are you..... "I said leave, leave now! Chioma shouted and opened the door for him.

"OK fine I'll go but don't take it personal, I was only joking with you okay, Festus said and left while she jammed the door behind her.

"The nerve of you to come here and tell me nonsense! Damn you Nonso! She shouted angrily breathing hard.

She took her phone and dialed the guys number but they blocked her line already. She threw the phone angrily, picked her bag and began packing her things to leave tomorrow..................

"She'll be fine right doctor? Nonso asked after Fummi was checked.

"Yes luckily for her no bones was broken, she only bruises which is not too serious, The doctor replied.

"You mean I can go home right? Fummi asked.

"If you want to I won't stop you. I'll rather prescribe drugs that will get you better soon, the doctor replied.

"If so I'll appreciate it that way, I really don't want to stay here, Fummi said.

"Please don't listen to her, just do the right thing, Nonso said and the doctor smiled.

"Don't worry too much she is fine. Can I see you outside? The doctor asked and he left with Nonso discussing with him..

"uhmmm baby girl you both acted Zeeworld just in front of me within minutes. Awwn just look at the way he carried you, same way Yash use to carry Aati in married again. Oh my God! Jumoke shouted and Fummi couldn't stop smiling shyly.

"Stop it na its not what you're thinking, Fummi said.

"Really? What about the way you both stared at each other? If I didn't interrupt kisses would have followed o, Jumoke said.

"Oh my God you are so silly. Please don't even go there, Fummi said and Nonso walked in.

"You're free to go home, he said.

"You're sounding as if I was in jail, Fummi replied.

"Of course I wanted you to be here so you'll be properly checked and taken care of, Nonso said.

"No Nonso i have to go home, my uncles doesn't know about this and its not fair, Fummi said.

"I understand, I'll go get your drugs then we will go home. And oh, is there any station around so i can report what happened to you? He asked.

"Is that really necessary? Just forget about them because they won't do anything about it trust me, Fummi replied and he heaved.

"If you say so then, I'll be back, Nonso said, gave Fummi a peck and left.

Jumoke couldn't stop coughing as she watched Fummi rubbing the place he pecked her surprised.

Chioma called up Nons
o telling him she just arrived.

"Okay take care of yourself okay and greet everyone for me, Nonso said.

"Alright take care too, Chioma said.

"I will bye, Nonso said and dropped the call.

"Who was that? Fummi asked.

"Erm my relative, he came to see me. You know my mom sent him to see how I'm faring, Nonso said.

'Thats too loving of her, you're lucky," Fummi said.

"What makes me lucky? Nonso asked.

"You have a mom, not just a mom but a loving mom who cares about you. I see the way she do call and I just wish I had same experience, Fummi said.

"You know what, let's not talk about this okay. Don't consider yourself unlucky, for me I think your children will be more luckier than I am, Nonso said and she smiled.

"They won't go through all that I've gone through. I'll make sure they'll be a better me by far, even if I have to walk naked to make that true, Fummi said and Nonso nodded.

"Hum that's sweet and appetizing to hear. I'm inspired, Nonso said and she laughed.

"Of course I won't let them suffer. What about you? Fummi asked.

"I share in the same dreams. But just imagine if we are together in that boat, that will be more better you know, Nonso said and winked at her.

"You're not serious. You Igbo's that doesn't play with ladies from their place, Yoruba doesn't even stand a chance, Fummi said.

"Is that what you think? Nonso asked looking at her.

"Exactly, sir you are marking the book wrongly, Fummi said pointing at the book and he saw he placed the red biro on a wrong place.

"Ouch this is all your fault, Nonso said.

"How is my fault nau? She asked.

"Because you're getting over me already, Nonso said concentrating on the book while Fummi smiled at that.

The guys called up Chioma and they just stayed at Ede too. Chioma happily met up with them to talk things out.

"What's the girl name and do you have her picture? The guys asked.

"I don't know anything about this girl but she's very close to my guy. If you see any girl close to my guy then that will be her, Chioma replied.

"We can't make mistake in this, you have to be sure, One of the guy said.

"OK I can describe her for you. She's dark, she made this scanty kind of hair, not too tall and she's not fat, Chioma said.

"Owk, can I see this guy picture? One of the guys asked and she showed Nonso picture on phone.

"Please be careful in this, I don't want him to be involved, Chioma said.

"Sure we are best in what we do. He works in the school you earlier told us right? The guys asked.

"Yes, she replied.

"OK we will check them out today. They haven't closed yet, the guys said checking the time.

"Alright thank you, use this for a start, Chioma said giving them money.

"Alright, we'll hint you later, the guys said...........

........

Done with school for the day, Nonso decided to see Fummi off at home for the first time.

"Are you sure about this? She asked

"Why not? She asked.

"Nothing, though I wanted dropping at Jumoke place else she won't be happy I passed without saying hi to her, Fummi said.

"Wow that will be good, we'll chill there for a bit before I drop you off at home, Nonso said and Fummi eyes bulged out knowing Jumoke won't let her be when she sees Nonso with her.

"We don't have to go there, you need to return back early, Fummi said.

"Am i complaining? I know this your tactics but today I am prepared for you. Oya let's go, Nonso said taking her hand and left the gate.

The guys were just at the gate pretending to be talking among themselves, "that's him, one whispered.

"And that should be the girl too, another said and they watched as Nonso insisted on taking a bike while Fummi wanted trekking.

"How many bikes are we stopping? Fummi asked.

"Bikes? Just 1 jare, Nonso said and stopped a bike.

Fummi climbed on it and Nonso followed and the bike took off while the guys climbed on their took and gently drove behind them..

They arrived at Jumoke work place, but she couldn't stop smiling and Winking at Fummi.

Nonso bought plates of food and drinks for them while they talked for a while.

Done eating Nonso got up, 'I am going to your friend place, today i must know her place," He said.

"I agree with you, thanks for visiting, Jumoke said.

"Its nothing, oya let's go," Nonso told Fummi.

"Bye, see you later," Fummi said to her.

"Bye darling, Jumoke said smiling at her and they left.

The guys patiently waited outside, they saw them got into another bike and they followed..

Chioma called up the guys as she was so nervous in the hotel room.

"Yes there are going home now and we're following them, one of them picked up.

"God I am so scared, please be careful, she said and the guy dropped the call.

"Why is she disturbing this way? If she doesn't want us to do this job let her tell us jare, I don't like what I hate, the guy driving the bike said.

"No too vex na, maybe its just her first time and she no sabi say we dey best with anything we dey do, one of them said.

They saw the bike man carrying them slowed down and they quickly stopped the bike and got down.

They slowly strolled to the compound and saw Nonso entering the house.

"OK thats where she stays, one said nodding.

"Will it be today? Another asked.

"Who has such time to waste? Iets finish this once and for all, the one who seemed to be their leader replied........

"Nice house you got here, Nonso said looking around while Fummi tried lighting the lantern.

"Simple for a girl like me,this is just what I have, Fummi replied after lighting it and heaved not knowing what next to do.

"That's them right? Nonso asked pointing at the photograph on the wall and she nodded.

"Thats my dad, and thats my bro, all late now, she said and Nonso looked at her.

"Erm what can I offer you? I didn't know you'll be coming today I would have prepared something for you, Fummi said and he smiled.

"Seriously? But we are ate Jumoke shop maybe next time," Nonso said.

"You mean you'll come here again? She asked.

"Why? You don't want me to? He asked.

"No thats what I mean, She said fiddling her fingers.

"Maybe next time I'll visit you won't be this scared and it won't be in the evening, Nonso said approaching her while she gently went backward.

"Scared? No am not, I am just..." Nonso placed his finger on her lips.

"Is there anything you're not telling me? You like me right? He asked.

"What... What are you saying? Fummi asked and he laughed.

"Just joking, I have to go now, Nonso said going outside already.

"OK I'll see you off then, you won't get a bike that quick here, Fummi said.

"OK if you say so, Nonso said and she locked the door behind and left with him.

The day was beginning to close on them that they couldn't see the guys standing beside the house.

They strolled for few minutes and a bike approached, Nonso stopped and hopped on it waving at her.

"I'll see you tomorrow, he shouted.

"Sure, thanks for today, Fummi shouted back and felt relieved.

"Wow why was I that scared or was I anxious? She asked herself as she walked back home.

She got into her compound and brought out the keys when she saw guys walked into the compound.

Fear gripped her as she rushed to open the door but the guys held her and covered her mouth.

"I'll help you open the door, one whispered to her and got the key, opened the door and pushed her in locking it.

"Please what do you want? I don't have anything to give to you, Fummi shivered as she saw the guys looking at her though their face was partly covered.

"We are just doing our job, one said and passed a blow to her........................

"Fummi! Jesu what happened here? Fummi what happened to you! Jumoke who dropped by that night shouted shaking her as she met Fummi on the floor with wounds on her body.

"Fummi please talk to me what happened here else I'll scream my head off, jumoke shouted and Fummi gently opened her eyes.

She could barely see Jumoke because her eyes were heavy.

"Who did this to you nau who did this? Jumoke asked crying already as she tried getting her off the floor.

Fummi tried saying something but her lips were heavy too, "don't bother yourself I'll let your uncles know about this, Jumoke said and wanted leaving but Fummi held her hand and shook her head.

"OK I'll call up my mom that I will be sleeping over here okay, Jumoke said and called up her mom immediately.

Done with the call she quickly locked up the door and ran inside to get a bowl and towel to clean up Fummi.

She boiled up water to press her wounds and wanted leaving that night to get her drugs but Fummi refused.

"You need it girlfriend look at you, what animal did this to you! Jumoke shouted but Fummi eyes was closing.

"Are you feeling sleepy or you're fainting? Jumoke asked confused but Fummi gently laid her head on Jumoke laps and slept off...............

Chioma was just restless in the hotel room and she kept calling the guys but they were not picking up.

"Hey I am finished! She screamed and called her friend.

"Calm down, maybe they are busy thats why they can't pick the call. Don't worry I'll call them, she said and dropped the call and immediately the guys called.

"What happened to you guys? You almost gave me heart attack! Chioma shouted.

"Keep your voice low young woman because next time I won't do business with you again. Why are you bugging us with calls? In fact the job has been done now stop bothering us! The leader shouted and ended the call.

"Hello hello! I hope you didn't get me or Nonso involved in it! Chioma screamed looking at the phone.

The next morning Nonso left to the hotel to see Chioma and he found her packing.

"Hi, good morning," she said when he got in.

"Why were you ignoring my calls?" Nonso asked.

"I am so sorry, my phone was on silence and I slept off quite early. I saw it this morning and I was about to call you," Chioma replied.

"You're leaving?" He asked.

"Yea its 1 week already and mom called yesterday saying I must come back that she's missing me already,"Chioma replied.

"And you didn't care to tell me?" He asked.

"I am sorry, Chioma said leaving the bag and crossed her hands on him.

"I was to stay for just 1 week remember? I didn't even know it will be over today," She continued.

"Okay so what time are you leaving? So that I'll get something in the bank for you," Nonso asked.

"Nah don't worry about that because I'll be leaving now," she said.

"You mean if I didn't meet up, you would have gone without me seeing you?" Nonso asked.

"No, I wanted going to the..."

"Still I have the right to know! Nonso shouted.

"Baby I am sorry, Chioma calmly said and he heaved rubbing his head while she held him tight looking at him.

"Tell me you love me one more time, I want to hear it from you before I leave, She said and he looked at her.

"Please don't bring this now when I am angry you are just surprising me with this. Are you done parking? He asked.

"Baby you saying that doesn't have anything to do with you telling me you love me. Why are you putting up excuses? Don't worry about my packing, I will take care of it, Chioma said but Nonso kissed her instead.

"Take good care of yourself, greet every one at home for me and call me when you get there, he said touching her cheeks.

"You haven't.........."you know I do, I have to run to school okay, Nonso said, pecked her and left the room.

Chioma stood shaking her head when he left, "he couldn't just look me in the eye and lie that he loves me, that makes it more interesting, she said and left the room to go after him.

She saw him entered a bike and she did too asking the bike Man to follow him, they all arrived and she saw the school he entered.

She nodded and asked the bike man to take her back.

She arrived at the hotel, took her bag and left the hotel to another one still in the area, then she sat thinking of what to do.

"I need to be sure first and know the girl he fell for, then I'll know my next step, she said and left the hotel to the school dressing simple and covered a face cap so Nonso won't easily notice her.

She kept asking student where she can find Corper Nonso but they all told her they don't know such a person.

"Where can I find the teachers block whatever here? She finally asked and they pointed at the building for her.

She slowly walked up to it and saw a lady sitting beside Nonso talking and laughing happily with him.

"I've seen this face somewhere, she said to herself but can't remember where.

"Sir the time is up," Fummi said to him..

"Ma let's go, Nonso replied and they laughed getting up while Fummi helped him with the books.

Chioma stood beside the building and she watched them holding hands together as they walked to the classroom and her anger was fueling up.

She got back to the hotel shouting angrily and threw things around.

She took her phone and dialed a number, "baby what's up? A lady voice came on phone.

"Girl I feel like going crazy right now, Chioma said pacing around.

"Eh? Calm down first what's the problem? Just talk to me, the voice on phone said.

"Imagine Nonso, just imagine Nonso cheating on me with a small girl. A girl that hasn't reached my standard, look at the insult, Chioma said and the lady burst out laughing.

"Na today you sabi say yansh dey for back? So men that cheats on their wife with an ordinary maid at home nkor?" The lady asked.

"Oh God! I thought he was different. You need to see this girl babe, very dark with tattered hair, girl look at me na. What will a guy want that he will go so low to that extent with such a girl," Chioma shouted.

"Babe calm down o before blood go rise climb your head for nothing. Men are all cheats, na today your eyes come clear ba?" The Lady asked.

"Abeg I wan treat that girl small lesson before i leave this place. Just small make she taste me see say nonsense no good," Chioma said.

"Be careful o, beside wetin be your plan?" The lady asked.

"I don't know na, you sabi say I never do anything like this before so I no sabi," Chioma replied.

"Where you dey sef?" The lafy asked.

"Osun o, Chioma replied.

"Ah I get person for that osun na, shebi na just small touching ba you wan touch am?" The lady asked.

"Babe abeg just small, if e pass that one she fit die, Chioma replied and the lady laughed.

"Now you dey fear? Anyway i will hook you up with the guys so you'll tell them what they need to know. Babe calm down okay, no be today this thing start so take am easy, the lady said.

"Thank you love, you were the only one i know that can help me, Chioma said smiling already.

"Awnn I'm blushing, I'll send your number to them right away so you guys will talk, the lady said.

"Thank you, we will talk later, Chioma said.

"Ill be waiting, the lady said and the line went dead while Chioma jumped in joy.....................

Done with the class they returned back to the staff room with one of the student helping them to carry the books they submitted.

"The students are picking up, I feel so fulfilled now, Fummi said to him after the student left.

"Yea, the way they all rushed to answer questions with joy, ahh I couldn't believe it, Nonso replied.

"And that's because you came here, she said smiling.

"And maybe because I choose you as the right partner too, Nonso said looking into her eyes and Fummi shyly looked away.
