The students of Rivers state University of Science and technolgy, Portharcourt has accused the university Admnistration of conscious extortion The students have alleged that the school authorities have barred them from having access to the E-campus except they visit the ICT center and pay a fee of 1000 naira. The university operates "e-campus" which makes it easier for students to pay their fees and course registration anywhere in the world as long as they have internet service. One of the final year students of Medical Laboratory Science who craved anonymity described the development as barbaric such that is capable of causing students unrest in the institution, "I don't know their reasons for this, but I tell you, this is absolute wickedness, it's unfair. Is this the NEW Rivers Vision they talked about?", She queried. "We can mobilise and protest about this, we cannot take. She continued". One of the e-processing agents stressing that they were duly registered with the institution and see no reason why the new Vice Chancellor will just take such a decision without notifying them disclosed that if nothing is done urgently about the situation, legal redress will be their only option. The students condemning in the strongest of terms this development recalled that the appointment of Prof. B. Didia came with the increment of tuition fee for both the Indigene and Non-indigene, thereby restoring the Discrepancy in school fee which the former administration of Rotimi Amaechi terminated before he left office. Residents of Aleto in Eleme local government and detectives attached to the Eleme Divisional Police headquarters at Ogale, the headquarters, are still at loss why a girl should be raped and then hanged. But that was the fate of a yet-to-be identified girl. The mysterious death of the girl believed to be in her late 20's whose lifeless body was discovered dangling an uncompleted building at the area in Eleme, may remain unresolved for a long time. According to a police source in Eleme, injuries on the girl's body, especially in her pubic region, showed she was gang-raped and then hanged. But the police were yet to determine the number of persons who committed the heinous act and why they killed her after their bestial act. But a non-security source said it was possible the girl identified one of her rapists, who to avoid leaving a track, must have sold the idea to other gang members. A passerby was reported to have sighted a body dangling by the uncompleted building. Upon closer observation, the passerby discovered it was a girl. The passerby reportedly raised alarm that attracted other people. The police were quickly invited to the scene. They eventually took the body down and moved it to the Divisional headquarters at Ogale from where it was taken to a mortuary. As at press time, her identity remained unknown much as nobody could put together the circumstances of her tragic end.
