PoliticsObasanjo: Violence, Threats Won’t Quell Separatism – Atiku by p3Ac3(op): 6:09pm On Jul 08, 2017
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has advised Nigerians to eschew violence and threats, especially to elders, warning that such won’t quell separatism.

The Ex-Vice President gave the advise following the recent hate speeches and threats to some regions and especially, allegedly, to some high individuals like to the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, by some persons in the country.

It is of note that in the last few months, some hate speeches have been emanating from different quarters, beginning with the quit notice issued some Nigerians of Igbo extraction by some Arewa youths who said Ndigbo must leave the northern region before October 1st or face physical attacks.

Similarly, the overall leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been released on bail from jail has also, recently, been quoted as making a hate speech against Obasanjo after the Former President said he had no apology but has explanation to give while the recent separatist movements in the country ought to stop.

Obasanjo made the comment in a condolence message on the death of Late Sule.

According to Obasanjo, “What lesson can we learn? The lesson we can learn is that we have had enough tragedies in this country.
“So far, since 1999, it seems that we have got it right. Let us hope that we continue to get it right and learn that Nigeria has had enough of bloodshed, enough of sacrifices by those victims, that Nigeria deserves peace, unity and progress.

“Maimalari was a man who was very interested in the welfare of his men during a peacekeeping mission in Congo, a situation that led to him having issues with some few. He was a soldier’s soldier.

“If Maimalari had lived to head the Nigerian Army, to the best of my own knowledge, Nigeria would have been better for it. “Lesson to be learnt from Maimalari’s death- this country had had trained officers who would have been of benefit to this country, but cut out at the prime of their lives, and our lesson should be that this should never happen again.

“I have no apology but I have explanation. It’s because it’s necessary to stop this sort of things that took the life of your father prematurely, that we had to take the decision that all those who have tasted power, that they should never have tasted, of political office that we should ease them out of the Army so that we can have an Army that is free from political aberration.

“And since 1999, I think we have got it right, let us hope that we have got it right and learn the right lessons. Nigeria has had enough bloodshed, sacrifices and Nigeria deserves peace, unity and progress.

“And may be the sacrifices of the like of Brigadier General Maimalari be sufficient to give this country peace, development, unity and progress,” said Obasanjo.

However, addressing his co-Biafran supporters in one of their gatherings, Mazi Kanu who took to the offensive about Obasanjo’s comments was quoted to have used derogatory words and even threats on the ex-President.

But Atiku Abubakar, while condemning the hate and threats generally said, “It’s important for Nigerians to respect leaders who played defining roles in Nigeria’s development. Threats of violence help no one’s cause!

He also said that “Violence and threats won’t quell separatism. The more Nigeria moves towards social justice, the more Nigeria shifts away from separation.”

Also in one of his writeups, Atiku advised that, “The number one problem plaguing Nigeria is not corruption or even the absence of regular power. The number one problem militating against the progress of Nigeria is her lack of unity. If we can fix this problem, Nigeria will herself be fixed.”

PoliticsBiafra: Nnamdi Kanu Must Not Go Unpunished – Arewa Youth President, Shettima by p3Ac3(op): 1:04pm On Jul 08, 2017
President of the Arewa Youth Coalition, Yarima Shettima, has said that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, must be punished.

Shettima, in an interview with Tribune, stated that Kanu is someone “who has terrorised the country”.

“We will go as far to ensure that we take him to the international court of justice. We will internationalise his case and ensure that this young man is declared a terrorist. He can’t be allowed to go just like that.

“To us, we are seeing what he is doing as a business venture. So, as far as we are concerned, a country should not be run as a banana republic where somebody can do anything and get away with it, without respect for the rule of law,” he said.

Shettima also disclsoed that the group was reviewing its stand on the quit notice issued to Igbos living in north.

“The steps taken by the governors are commendable. One, we have since expected the governors to do what they are doing now. Nevertheless, it is better late than never for.

“What the Ohanaeze and other organisations that came out to denounce the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are doing is commendable.

“We are also reviewing our own situation. We are going to have a meeting soon with other leaders of the coalition and come out with a clear position of things and what we intend to do in order to move forward,” he added.

He, however, stated that the call for the evacuation of the Igbo from the north was not totally off the table.

“I am not saying we have completely removed the earlier condition that they should leave the north. However, the fact of the matter still remains that one, we are not violent.

“Secondly, we intend also to explore all necessary avenues and ensure that, at the end of the day, things are being done in accordance with the law.

“Inasmuch as we appreciate the fact that it is their right to demand self-determination, we are also saying, if you are asking for self-determination, there are certain procedures to go about it,” Shettima stated.

PoliticsS/south Not Part Of Biafra, N/delta Youths Insist by p3Ac3(op): 9:46am On Jul 06, 2017
WARRI— Niger Delta youths under the aegis of Niger Delta Youth Congress, NDYC, weekend, vowed to resist war drums by Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in the South-South geopolitical zone of the country.

This was made known by national coordinator, NDYC, Comrade Israel Uwejeyan, after an emergency meeting in Warri, Delta State,

He declared that youths in the South-South stand for united and indivisible Nigeria and, therefore, called on leaders of IPOB to erase the zone from its Biafra map with immediate effect.

Uwejeyan also disassociated NDYC from some youth groups whom he described as non-existent , saying they have strongly aligned with the statement of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, recently in Sokoto, where he stated that “Rivers State is not a part of Biafraland.”

He said: “The Niger Delta Youth Congress, NDYC, a foremost non-violent youth organisation in the region held an emergency meeting in Warri, Delta State on Friday, June 30, 2017, following the agitation for Biafra secession by Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, which is now causing disaffection and disunity in the nation, and the inclusion of the South-South states in the map of Biafra.

“The South-South people are not Biafrans. So, we therefore, demand the immediate removal of the six South-South states from the so-called map of Biafra as it is an act of gross disrespect and provocation”.

“We the Youths in the Niger Delta region from the six South-south States will never be a part nor lend our active or passive support for the so called for Biafra, we vehemently disassociate ourselves from the agitation for Biafra secession by some of our Igbo neighbours,

“We strongly declaring our total allegiance for a united and Indivisible Nigeria whose unity has been paid for through the blood and sacrifices of millions of Nigerians in time past and we refuse to sit down and watch a repeat of this sad history by some ill advised trouble-makers chanting for Biafra or Death.

“Be aware that the Niger Delta Youths from the South-south will resist all attempts by members of this so called IPOB and MASSOB groups to extend the war drums to our region.

“We strongly urge all other Governors and lawmakers in the South-south region to publicly disown the agitation for Biafra as their nonchalant attitude towards the inclusion of the South-south States in the map and struggle for Biafra will no longer be overlooked.”

Meanwhile, the group also lend their voice and supported the call for restructuring in the spirit of true federalism, therefore called on youth across the country to shun all forms of sentiments and be part of the struggle for a better Nigeria.

PoliticsBefore I Leave Office, I Will Send The ‘holy Spirit’ To Imo People – Okorocha by p3Ac3(op): 11:09am On Jul 05, 2017
The Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has promised the people of the state that he will send them the ‘Holy Spirit’ in the form of a proactive successor before his tenure ends.

He made this promise when he addressed a mammoth crowd that stormed the Government House yesterday in a display of solidarity and support to the his government and that of President Muhammdu Buhari-led federal government.

Okorocha, who also declared himself the Senior Advocate of the Masses and the civilian general of the people, assured them that he will not fail as he will continue to shame his detractors who had earlier threatened to stage a one million-man march against his administration on the previous day.

While urging the people to pray fervently for Buhari’s recovery, the governor promised to make more Imo youths millionaires in the future.

He said: “Today, you have shown me that I am really the Senior Advocate of the Masses and the civilian general of the people. Thousands and thousands of people coming all over the state to show solidarity at your own time and cost and to shame our detractors who could not bring out one person for their one million-man march against me, I shall never fail you people.

“There is peace in the Niger Delta. These young men seated, maybe most would have been killed by the police or army if I did not intervene with the amnesty programme. Today, we have peace in Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta. Today, we have broken the jinx that poor people can never be millionaires. We have taken 305 youths here and made them millionaires. With this jinx broken all of you have the capacity to become millionaires in the future.

“I have heard your request for a proactive successor, before I leave I will send you the Holy Spirit, I will never leave you alone, you can imagine if previous government for the past 30 years have been working the way I am working now, by now Imo State would have been London. The massive infrastructure in the state is only within six years, so think of 30 years.”

The governor also urged the Imo people to pray fervently for President Buhari’s recovery.

The groups and associations that participated in the solidarity rally included, Imo
Progress Movement (IPM), Imo State Council of Youths (ISCY), Youths Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTN), Imo State Almagamated Traders Association (ISAMATA), National Union of Imo State Students (NUISS), Niger Delta Youths (NDY), Imo Pilots (IP), Niger Delta Rescue Youth Movement (NDRYM), Women for Good Governance (WGG) Youth For Defence of Democracy, Niger Delta Volunteer Corps, ISOPADEC Youths, Timbers Drivers Association, Student Union Governments, among others.

The IPOB leader was accompanied by his wife, Uchechi Okwu-Kanu amongst other IPOB principal officers.

Despite a heavy downpour, there was still a massive crowd following the vehicle conveying Kanu as many were heard chanting ‘Rochas must obey Biafra’.

This comes as Okorocha was alleged to have paid for a pro-Nigeria rally at Heartland stadium Owerri, the reports reaching us at time of filing this report, reveals that the governor's call was not heeded by citizen of Owerri. Several pictures from the stadium shows a near empty place, with little or no activity going on there.

PoliticsNigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners Offer To Treat Buhari by p3Ac3(op): 4:06pm On Jul 04, 2017
The National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners has said its members can cure the ailing President Muhammadu Buhari of any ailment if consulted.
The Patron of the NANTMP, Dr. Adesunmiboye Fawawo, said this in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new executives of the association.
He said many Nigerians died cheaply because the practice of medicinal and therapeutic use of plants was being looked down upon in the country whereas orthodox medicine was being promoted.
Fawawo said, “President Muhammadu Buhari is our national leader and we must guide him with all jealousy. We are a national body which is recognised by the Federal Government. The association was established during the reign of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and he uses our products. You can see how strong he is even at his age.
“We have been able to treat patients whose families had lost hope on their recovery. Unfortunately, we have not been consulted to treat President Buhari. We can treat him and the government must realise that traveling abroad for treatment may not solve the issue.

“If you get to mortuary many corpse found in the place are rich people because they don’t trust their health with local treatment. Many rich people believe expensive drugs and treatment but this will go a long way to deepen recession.”

Fawawo said those, who were afraid of the potency of herbs usually frighten the people by saying herbs cause kidney problem and other issues but he said this was not true if the right dosage was used.

According to him, some herbal products are being exported to Europe and the United States while some herbal products are in hospitals including seleru agbo which he said was at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

He said the Nigeria Educational Research Development Council in partnership with the Osun State Government was working to on how to teach pupils the use of herbs to cure common ailments like stomach ache and others.

Also, the Assistant Secretary General, of the association, Dr. Ade Adeagbo lamented the neglect of traditional medicine in the country, saying Nigeria was wasting a huge amount on importation of drugs.

He suggested that government should invest in local production of herbal mixtures instead of wasting money to import synthetic drugs which according to him had many negative side effects.

Adeagbo said ” Government should stop investing in importation of medicine but invest immensely on local product which is cheap and saver. The Federal Government recently launched ” Change Begin with me” I believe this change should also start by making sure that the President is treated locally. It will save fund and reduce and douse tension.”
