As someone that uses hotel often when I travel, I would say I share your concern.

I really do not like staying in hotels but most times difficult situations makes it inevitable.

I personally do not subscribe to spending your first night after wedding in a hotel.

Lodging in a hotel for newly weds gives them a little space to rest from all the wedding prep stress. If they go home, they might have to start fixing their meals or Nigerians will start coming to say congratulations. Sometimes there are visitors in their houses and it would take them up to a week to leave. No need going home to all that.

It is the same thing we do with new mums.
She is discharged my 9am and by 4pm, they are coming to her house to sing and pray.

If the new couple can afford it, I recommend.

I'm a newly wed, but I don't know... We didn't go to any hotel after the wedding, but something tells me that you're one of those boring unromantic African men... It's probably their honeymoon and there's also nothing wrong with exploring.

But perhaps we'll go to somewhere special after our second wedding ceremony this upcoming December...
