Which meant Buhari most probably had the more correct information about Onoghen's culpability and criminal tendencies all along,as eventually proved in court and partly by Onoghen's admissions himself.

To me, the case of Onoghen turned out to be a rotten egg on the face of VP Osinbajo, who probably thought he was doing the needful for a fellow senior member of the legal fraternity, when in actual fact he just rushed to appoint a shady character at best in Onoghen.

If Obaseki decamp to PDP (which I doubt) he might loss re-election because Obaseki strong hold is Benin alone that's where they have plenty of supporters for PDP. Also if you look at the situation currently out of 24 rep only 9 are Obaseki padi the remaining 15 are Oshiomole loyalty

Niger state government opens dialogue with armed bandits
Niger state government has commenced dialogue with the different groups of armed bandits, “as part of measures to ensure security of lives and property of the people”.

Governor Abubakar Bello who disclosed this at a peace lecture in minna, says “already, a group of twenty seven armed bandits in Kotonkoro of mariga local government area of Niger state, north central Nigeria have ceased fire.”

Speaking at the 2nd General Abdul-salami Abubakar peace lecture at justice Idris Kutigi international conference center, Governor Abubakar Bello, the guest speaker at the lecture on “good politics at the service of peace: the role of eminent persons in the prevention of conflict in Nigeria”, notes that peace building or security management is everybody’s business.

Former military head of state, general Abdul-salami Abubakar says there is no alternative to peace.

Chairperson of the annual lecture and the former vice- chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Laraba Abdullahi, explained the need for the country to hold such lecture series, as it would help to overcome most of the nation’s challenges.

The lecture series was held on a day when combatants are expected to temporarily ceasefire, to allow for the distribution of relief materials, to victims.
