A word of advice:
NEVER be afraid to ask your clients for a 5 star rating if you know you have done a good job. It has worked wonders for me.

A word of caution:

Please stay away from Indians!
It's very hard to please them and they can give you very low feedback that can bring down your hard earned rating.

Made a withdrawal to this guys account and the money got stuck cos my paypal had issues unknown to me. He however paid the complete money to my account cos according to him, the money was received but was withheld by paypal and wont be released for six month. He however paid me pending when the money will be released to him in six months time.

The guy is simply the best around!

Upwork has become greedy, I got a mail from them that henceforth they will be collecting 20% Instead of the normal 10%.
Imagine doing 500$ job and end up getting $400. I am going to move my loyal clients from there.
Right now, l need to get my own PayPal account that I can be using to receive direct payment.

you have two option, either you change your paypal email or you change your upwork email. both are easy and possible.

Look for a book and calculate how many words are in a page and then multiply by 25; that should give you an idea of how many words to expect.

No special strategy, maybe just like i have tried unsuccessfully to get a job on freelancer.
Your proposal matters a lot though and the skills you ticked will determine the jobs offer you will see on your feed.

No matter what anybody says, upwork is 10 times less competitive that freelancer.
If you can get a job on freelancer, than getting a job on upwork should be a walk over.

A guy contacted me for a job yesterday and when i checked the total bid, it was only five bids total after 2 days, so the guy has to contact me cos i believe my proposal was more sell-able.

Dont know about freelancer, yet to get my first job there. skye bank charge less than 1% for every transaction

Withdraw $500, upwork took $30. $470 got into my dorm account the next day. withdraw $400 and exchanged for 310
400 x 310 = 124, 000

when you compare this to the 230/240 that these guys use for us you will realize that to really maximize your earnings, you need to go get your self a dorm account.

I have even gone ahead to get myself a second dorm account with gtb. when you have a current account, getting a dorm is just a piece of cake. infact i opened my gtb dorm myself online with my token cos i already have a current account with them.

i had to change the email i used for paypal to another email. i completely removed the one i use for upwork from my paypal. after doing that i was able to deal with meetmal03.
nothing special contained in that form if i remember correctly. just address and email i think

$1/100 words is the minimum for me. I believe everybody got to set standards for themselves. I don't bid for any job that has a lower pay rate.
