DeLaRue: What is happening now is some businesses are making stupendous amount of profit like never before, even when you account for naira devaluation.
On the flip side, the average man on the street is feeling the brunt of income that can't keep up with rising goods prices.
Some are winning, and winning big. Many are struggling and can barely hold on.
Like Nigeria, countries such as the UK, USA are experiencing a similar dichotomy where the gap between the rich few and the rest of the population is growing wider and wider.
Personally, I now believe that uncontrollable capitalism as practised in these countries is not all honky dory, as we were led to believe in our old economics textbooks.
Nigeria needs to retrace its capitalist steps and pay more attention to the basic necessities of the ordinary people - food, and I think, electricity.
I am still shocked at Band A price for electricity. These private companies are only fixated on more and more profits while doing less and less.
Government needs to stop privatising utilities. No where is electricity cheap, We can't subsidy what is not efficient ,we first get it right before we subsidize. When MTN first come you see how expensive it is , later when the network is normal you see how cheap we sell the line. Forge about been expensive now ,let it be available first |

Just give Nigerians 24/7 light and you will see wonders in the economy. Are Nigeria ready to pay? Can they pay? |

Asonaijaaso: Been to many third world countries with 24hours power supply and the bills are in tune with minimum wage.
And believe me i am not talking about Paris or London where the president goes to enjoy uninterrupted AC.
All we have to do is copy their blueprint and replicate it here, tweak it till we get it right.
The administration of Bola Tinubu has not prioritized power supply. If they did Nigerians would have seen results.
Weeks after Bola Tinubu wa sworn in, he wanted a new Private Jet, less than 2 weeks after, the money manifested, the new Jet was bought and paid for and the old one put on sale.......That was an intentional act.
But issues like power supply, education of the girl child, a lot of out of school Nigerian children, maternal mortality, insecurities. Those are not addressed, When Nigerians voice their frustration, either his handlers gaslight us (its not that bad.) or we get the popular Buhari trope (All that was caused by the Buhari regime) Are you in Nigeria when Association of football viewing center protest to nepa office for bringing light when Nigeria match was going on? That is affevted their business |

The hatred people have for Tinubu and APC can't be fathomed.. He is the very definition of corruption, nepotism and sleeze. The North definitely won't support him in 2027, he can say goodbye to SE and some portions of SS. There's no way he'll get majority votes in Lagos ever again with the way he rubbished the LSHA. A coalition will definitely tear that druggie away from power.. they have less than two years to get their permutations right. Oya explain to me where obi will win in the north? |

Mabuggi88: Imagine their price is still higher than a private individual price. Wickeds in power The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has transitioned into a limited liability company, now known as NNPC Limited. This change, inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari on July 19, 2022, aims to make the company more commercially oriented, accountable, and transparent. Here are some key implications of this transformation¹ ² ³: - *Operational Autonomy*: NNPC Limited will operate independently, making decisions without needing Federal Executive Council approval, allowing for faster decision-making and improved efficiency. - *Regulatory Compliance*: The company will adhere to the Companies and Allied Matters Act provisions and the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, promoting transparency and accountability. - *Potential Public Listing*: NNPC Limited may be listed on the stock exchange, allowing the public to purchase shares and raising equity capital for the business. Although an Initial Public Offering (IPO) was initially expected in mid-2023, the timeline remains uncertain. - *Commercial Focus*: The company will prioritize profit, declare dividends to shareholders, and retain 20% of profits for business growth, marking a shift from its previous reliance on government funding. - *Energy Security*: NNPC Limited will continue to ensure energy security in Nigeria, partnering with foreign oil companies to explore the country's fossil fuel resources. - *Governance Structure*: Four committees have been established to oversee the company's functions, including planning, finance, sustainability, and audit. The transformation is expected to attract investors, enhance corporate governance, and boost Nigeria's oil production levels. However, concerns remain regarding government influence, given the state's continued ownership and control. Despite this, NNPC Limited's new structure positions it alongside other successful state-owned petroleum corporations globally.⁴ |

Let me tell you, 2023 votes to Obi was more of protest votes from Christians from South, middlebelt and north against the ruling party's Muslim Muslim ticket. Obi really milked it by visiting churches.. I hope you remember the "religious war" conversation.
2027 that won't work. If he contest I doubt he will even get half of what he got in 2023.

So everybody that is rich nwo is associated with govt idahme: You are wrong. They ain't wrong by having that notion because of the kind of country they hail from i don't blame them for having such notion.
Just go to government places, and see people who doesn't have any business or any money but controlling billions because they are associated with government. Typical case scenario is your president and wike, prior to 1999 the president's highest earning was about $2400 monthly but post guber time he catapulted himself to the zenith with a deal he made through alfa beta. While wike who never for once practiced or represented a client in order to make money now becomes almost a trillinaires(naira) just because he worked for the government whose monthly salary was less than 10million.
This funny scenario also happens in the private sector that has connections with the government, people pay kickbacks in order to be given contracts which were never done but stolen. The only people who should get accolades are those private sector folks with zero ties with the government but with sheer resilience, hard work and enthusiasm to succeed making hem successful in their business.
We may all deny as much as we can but this is the reality in Nigeria. The attitudes of citizens is the reason people have this notion |

Those who opposed the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway may have lost some voters in areas who are seeing the impacts of the road.
Even ThisDay/Arise who opposed the project had to give Tinubu Man of the Year Award, even though the award was suspicious.
The people of southern Kaduna who were marginalized have a medical center and a university and have seen that the person who lied about Muslim-Muslim ticket wanted to scam them.
By 2027, agenda will agend as the chickens will come home to roost.

TimeManager: The problem with Nigerian wailers is the fact that they don't see beyond " what's the price of yam in the market?", they're more concerned about their stomach than the health of the economy. Forgetting that If you don't have an economy, you can't even have food security, growth and development. The food inflation we all complain about is not as a result of government policies but as a result of human factor - na bandits, terrorists and herdsmen factor dey cause food crisis and high food costs. And I know you would say, it is Government responsibility to fight insecurity. And I can tell you as much that there's no other President that has killed more bandits and terrorists than the current President. However, you can't wipe out insecurity of over 16years in less than two years. So, pockets of attacks will never undermine the fantastic efforts of the NSA and the Military. Unfortunately, Nigeria. wailers will rather exaggerate these pockets of violence than see the successes of the Military. The economy is also on the pathway of recovery given where we were coming from, improved economic outlook has earned positive ratings from Fitch. Less debt to revenue ratio, net trade surplus, higher liquidity, stable currency, improved foreign reserves, gradual reduction in inflation, etc. But I will not be surprised if some people selling recharge cards or phone charger under the bridge start arguing with Fitch rating. I don't like talking too much. God bless Nigeria.
