President Muhammadu Buhari will, early next week, join Ebonyi state governor, Engineer David Umahi to commission some of the mega projects that have changed the face of governance in the state.

The visit is a testimony to the landmark achievements in the last two years of Governor David Umahi as well as the good working relationship between Ebonyi state and the Federal Government.

Ebonyians are looking forward with excitement to see the presidential motorcade grace the smooth roads in Ebonyi land which are some of the governor's legacy projects... To see Mr President step his feet on the rich agricultural destination called Ebonyi. To see him rate the governor's rich scorecard in all spheres of leadership.

Feelers from the governor's office reveals that the President will commission three numbers of twin flyovers that are built across the African transahara Road running from Enugu to Cameroon passing through Ebonyi State, built to decongest traffic on that road, each of the twin flyover measuring 700 metre length. The governor has completed two and the third one is 80% done. Another project that would receive presidential stamp is the famous Ebonyi mall that is modelled after the famous Dubai mall. President Buhari is expected to lay a foundation stone of that mall which he will also come back to commission within the next 12 months.

The state government is also building a tunnel that dovetails into a flyover that is parallel to the existing flyover at Akanu Ibiam junction. And Mr. President is also to lay the foundation stone and that flyover bridge will be named after him. This project has 12 months completion period. There is also a federal Road that is 14.5km that the governor got the consent of Mr. President to build and the road is fully done. Also fully ready for commissioning is the18.5km road leading to the Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo which was done with concrete and overlaid with Asphalt.

Worthy of mention too is the 15.5km of Nigercem that road passes through the first cement factory in the country which is in Ebonyi State and connects to Benue. The 15.5 km in the axis of Ebonyi built with concrete isready for Mr. President to commission. 23.5km of state road which the governor built with concrete is equally ready for Mr. President to commission.

As of today Ebonyi state government has completed over 500 km of internal roads which is ready for Mr. President to commission. As an Ebonyian, I believe we have the stadium we remodeled as another evidence of good governance, we have the best VIP stands in the whole country in our stadium which is fully air conditioned and all the stands are fully covered. Mr. President will also commission that.

Governor Umahi has also given a nod to a minimum of 30km of concrete Road in each of the 13 local government areas of the state; with most of them completed while some have attained 80% completion. There's the water fountain innovations, the mushrooms factory, the waist recycling plant, numerous Agric projects like the Solar farm and the green house farm at Ezzamgbo, the one man one hectare agriculture concept and so on. The governor has breathed life into major federal roads that were once death traps.

This grandmaster of infrastructure deserves accolades for his achievements. He has done everything that needed to be done by anybody occupying this position for eight years.

Governor David Umahi has not just developed Ebonyi State. He has laid the foundation for the continuous development of the state.

These are projects that have direct bearing to the Anambra people. Don't tell me about estates that were initiated by private individuals? Ukpor is the Local Government Headquarters of Nnewi south LGA yet he did not initiate and complete ONE SINGLE project in his 4years as governor! The roads started by the last administration have been abandoned and of course gully erosion naturally has made Ukpor a no go area right now! I was around during his campaign in 2013, when he promised to complete the township roads in Ukpor started by Peter Obi, we voted massively for him but alas, he abandoned the road once he took power! It's not about MOUs which may never see the light of the day.

Thank God that I have not lied. I didn't say obiano has done everything we need in the state, show me where I made the assertion. Ukpor is just one town out of 177 in Anambra state. Obiano has just spent 3.5years, deduct period of rainfall in all period, then you will be left with nothing yet obiano completed 5bridges in Anambra state, show any state government that has done that, in Nigeria then I will know you are sincere.
Each time you come up with a comparison with obi, is reduces your argument, because obi had 8years to play with, and he couldn't complete the so called road in ukpor. Currently at Anambra state, obiano has completed oxygen plant, the first of its kind. He has started and finished many roads that I can not come and be naming. Funny enough most of the roads he completed are always alluded to peter obi. That was why he started putting launched by obiano at any project.
Obiano started ICC at Awka, go see for yourself , it is a massive project.
You will still shift the goal post. But take time and study the campaign it is just a game by peter obi in preparation to 2019.

The fast approaching gubernatorial elections in Anambra state is significant for many reasons.

Firstly, it would be the second time that an incumbent governor seeks a second term in office.

Secondly, there are 37 candidates in the race -a record even for Anambra state.

Thirdly, the incumbent faces a real challenge of reelection because the electorates have real credible choices among the mostly qualified candidates in this election.

What some of the candidates lack in experience, for example, they make up for in other areas such as “Abuja support”; a typical example being the APC candidate in this race. Information has it that “Abuja is determined to capture Anambra state by all means” … and so forth. Whether Anambra state will allow itself to be “captured” remains to be seen.

Other candidates like the UPP's Osita Chidoka presents fresh political philosophy different from the “mainstream philosophy”, one that is rooted in the deepest feelings of Igbo people about their place as a politically marginalized group in Nigeria.

Chidoka seeks to tap into the discontent among the Igbo, particularly the youths, some of which are very raw and real. One of such issue is the problem of Fulani herdsmen which was unaddressed in real time by the Obiano administration when it was still in the news.

There is the PDP candidate Oseloka Obaze who many in Anambra state saw as the brain behind the Peter Obi administration. The man is seen as a technocrat with the leadership pedigree to transform Anambra state. The jury is still out on his political philosophy and ideology as far as Igbo and Nigerian nation are concerned.

And then there is the incumbent governor Willie Obiano of the APGA whose leadership style has been praised by some, and condemned by others in the state. Obiano, for example, has been praised for his “security first” philosophy which saw to the sanitization of the Upper Iweka and flyover parts of Onitsha. Obiano also dealt kidnapping a death blow in the state.

Obiano managed to carry forward some of Peter Obi's development ideas such as education, payment of salaries, and keeping the state's debt low. However, Obiano's opponents accuse him of being politically deaf and dumb both locally in Anambra, and nationally.

Obiano has been accused of being sectional in his development strategy. For example, Nnewi people claim that Obiano completely ignored the town in road construction and rehabilitation.
APGA is the political party which claims to ride on the philosophy of Ikemba Nnewi, Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. The question then becomes: If Ojukwu were alive today, would he support Obiano's reelection?

Would Ojukwu even be in APGA by now if he were alive?

These questions are relevant because the Obiano administration has not demonstrated any commitment to the ideals of Igbo nationalism. To be fair to Obiano, this is not a new thing about him. When Peter Obi handpicked him as his successor, not a few Igbo wondered about the criteria for such a choice.

Some even accused Obi of handpicking someone who would cover his shortcomings in office. Obi insisted then that Obiano was the most qualified candidate, and that, in a contest that included Prof CC Soludo. However, the same Obi has now moved out of APGA and has endorsed (or is sponsoring) the PDP candidate Oseloka Obaze. Meanwhile, the same Obaze contested the APGA primaries four years ago against Obiano, and lost, thanks to Peter Obi. In light of these, one is then forced to ask a pertinent question:

What does Peter Obi see now in Oseloka Obaze that he did not see four years ago? Conversely, what does he not see in Obiano today that he saw four years ago?
The vehemence with which Peter Obi is opposing Willie Obiano today should warn Anambra citizens that either one, or both of Obi and Obiano may be bad for Anambra state this time around.

Ojukwu used to address Peter Obi as his “political son”; but would he have moved to PDP with Peter Obi were he still alive?
As an Anambra citizen, three issues bother me most about Obiano, and they are the following, in no particular order:

(1) He has never articulated a national political strategy as the leader of the most important Igbo state and the only governor under the umbrella of APGA, the “Ojukwu party”. Obiano has operated as a strictly local player who is more concerned about the pickpockets and the “umu Okulu” at Upper Iweka Onitsha, than positioning the Igbo politically nationally in Nigeria. Obiano has essentially played dead on the Fulani herdsman issue and peppered it over. Secondly, those responsible for the massacre inside an Ozubulu church are still at large, and the governor has moved on already.

(2) Under Obiano, there is no real voice in the governor's lodge for the Igbo youths who have been at a loss concerning their future. There is no sustained and transformative strategy for job creation for the youths. Though Obiano tried to attract investors and has succeeded to some extent, there are no world class infrastructures to anchor down such investments, and there is little participation by the entrepreneurial people of Anambra state in the economic development strategy. Anambra state needs foreign-local partnership, not just foreign ownership of business in Anambra state.

(3) Obiano has not convinced his political opponents that he is as ambitious as the Anambra people. The proposed “international cargo airport” has been very slow in coming up, while Anambra state urgently needs a fully functional international airport to act as the transportation anchor or node for world class ventures to pour into the state. Ndigbo are in a hurry to “invest at home” but they are being delayed by clueless governors who cannot expeditiously create the needed institutional and ideological framework for such rapid transformation. We need good schools, but on current trajectory, the schools would only produce labor for other states and even other countries if there are no economic anchors or hubs to employ their graduates. We want our schools to produce labor for the local economy. The local economy can never take off with “village philosophy”.


All the candidates in this election need to make their cases around the issues that can positively and boldly transform the state. And so far, the candidates have not done so. Insulting one another is not the way to make the case. The days of cloak and dagger politics in Anambra state should be long over by now.
Anambra state should be leading the rest of Eastern Nigerian states in socioeconomic and political goal setting and achievement. The ideal governor for the state should be someone deeply rooted in the political and socioeconomic realities and possibilities of Anambra state. The state's motto is “The Light of the Nation”; therefore mediocre leadership should not continue.

Ojukwu's prime political ideology and strategy is the “think home, invest home, build home” one. It is also one that believes in defending Igbo rights nationally. The two must be pursued simultaneously, else neither can be achieved.
It is not one that is clueless and unconcerned about the place of the Igbo person in the Nigerian national politics. To not have a national political strategy is to essentially defeat the aims of whatever development strategy being considered for the state. Anambra needs a governor that understands these, and who is capable of building on top of them, rather than one who maintains a lukewarm attitude towards them.

Umu Anamrba, though the devil we know may be better than the saint we don't know, sometimes it may be necessary to break an egg in order to make the omelette. Are we sure that we want another four years of Obiano? Only you can answer this question.

On November 18, vote very wisely.

Anids was a businesses venture like fracas and eastern mass. Peter obi sold the right to Ben flo. He use Anambra money to acquire those cars and concession them to private individuals. It adds nothing to ndi Anambra. If you compare what obiamo did, even though, I hated the fact he bought Indian instead of innoson. He made it cheaper to transport from awka to OSHA 100, in between 50 , even when recession was biting hard. Some people board the vehicle free depending on where you board.
He rolled out vehicles for civil servants, that transport them to their strategic destinations. Within 2 years and your are comparing it with 8 years of peter.

Peter Obi built health centres in all the 177 communities in Anambra, all of them have been abandoned, Peter Obi gave all the sec schools, i mean all, 50 laptops each, a 30KVA generator, a bus and internet facilities, things i benefited from under the ANIDS program. Since Obiano came, what has he done for the education sector


Obiano secured Anambra is actually laughable because me and you were in this Anambra when Peter obi fought Kidnappers to their father's house. Once you are caught, your house will be pulled down and it was then, that the death sentence was passed on kidanapping. Peter Obi empowered local vigilantee by buying every community (177) 2 hilux trucks (354) and gave them ten pump actions each and charged that checkpoints should be put at every entry and exit point in Anambra..

Anambra is not Europe. we are developing. we yarn for virtually everything. we do not have the right infrastructure, our government or should I say the system rubs us the social justice.
We all agree to that. but coming to make it look like there is a Messiah somewhere coming to fix something is the highest form of deceit! This is the similar thing APC sold to Nigerians , and where into a quicksand today.
You are not being sincere in comparing Peter's 8years with Obiano 3and 5 months.. it is very bad of you. Most of the things you mentioned where meant to fail, because it was not a visionary project, but a campaign project to gather vote and deceive people.For example, handing over the schools to the mission is a very sustainable project, but buying computer and generator is not sustainable. imagine if Obiano had focused on those projects started by obi, by now you lots won't even believe he has done anything at all. You don't buy someone who is not earning anything generator! how do you expect him/her to maintain it?
You guys should be creative at least, you don't swallow everything hook lines. Giving student WiFi and laptops are good, but without a sustainable plan, it will be a still born.
