The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the Assistant Pastor of the Anointed Chosen Vessel Ministry, Okota, Lagos, 54-year-old Mike Oliseh, for allegedly defiling the 12-year-old twin daughters Chioma and Nnena (Not real names) of a church member and close friend.

According tp reports, the 54-year-old pastor allegedly penetrated the private parts of one of the twins and, inserted his fingers into the private parts of the other twin. He has been detained at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja.

Oliseh who is a borehole drilling expert used to live in a house opposite the girls’ father, Okoro (not real name), on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos State with his family (a wife and four kids). He later moved his family to Ikotun, Lagos, but retained the house at Okota, where he lives and only goes to Ikotun for his family on weekends.

Okoro, a driver is also contracted by Oliseh so his bus is used for transporting equipment to drill sites — so, they became friends. Through this, Okoro and his family became members of Oliseh’s church, Anointed Chosen Vessel Ministry, Okota, Lagos.

Since people cant mind their business, the police has come out to address what some people considered as a 'crime'. Two adults were busted having sex in a car by some jobless people and the police had this to say.

It, however, says it can be considered a crime if one has s3x with an underage; the car is parked in a religious institution when the act takes place, or both persons engaged in the sexual activities are of the same gender.

The police, therefore, asked that anybody who had been harassed for having s3x in a car, should report the incident immediately.

The Head, Police Public Complaints, Rapid Response Unit, Mr Abayomi Shogunle, stated these while responding to a question on Twitter.

Controversy had been raging on the social media following an incident that occurred last week wherein a couple was harassed by a mob for having s3x in a car.

Responding to a question, Shogunle said, “No. S3x in a car in a public place is not a crime in Nigeria provided the location is not a place of worship; both persons are 18 years and above; the act is consensual (agreed to by both parties), and the parties are of the opposite sex.

The APC South-West Reconciliation Committee Chairman Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno  State has reinstated the faith he has in the APC coming out victorious in the upcoming polls in 2019.

He stated this in Ibadan when he led the committee to meet with aggrieved members of the party from Oyo and Osun states.

Some attendees of the meeting include Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, Prof. Modupe Adelabu, former Ekiti State Deputy governor and Hadjia Sa’ida Sa’ad Bugaje.

Others include the Oyo APC Chairman, Chief Akin Oke, Prof. Yemi Farounbi, Mr Rotimi Makinde, Mr Olalekan Alli, Secretary to Oyo State Government and a host of others.

“We are here, essentially, to build bridges of understanding; to reconcile with our aggrieved party members and see to it that appropriate recommendations are made to the NWC of the party.

“Our effort is to ensure progress in the party as a family and to make amend, where necessary,” he said.

Shettima urged aggrieved members to emulate Ambode, whom he said had demonstrated generosity of spirit that had never been shown by any Nigerian politician since 1999.

Well over 40 political parties under the aegis of the Coalition of United Political parties (CUPP) have endorsed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar as its consensus candidate.

The CUPP made the decision after a closed door meeting at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

Speaking at a world press conference, the CUPP convener and former Governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola said Atiku met the various criteria set for the selection of a consensus candidate.

According to Vanguard, he said “I welcome all of you. to this very important General meeting of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP. You will recall that at the inauguration of the steering committee of the CUPP, we were saddled with the responsibility to midwife and supervise the selection of a joint presidential candidate for the coalition.

“In furtherance of this objective, therefore, the steering committee invited all political parties in the coalition to forward to us memoranda detailing their suggested ideas on how the candidate of the coalition should emerge and the criteria to use.

“The response was very impressive and rich. The steering committee, which as you all know has every coalition party represented in it, distilled the suggestions., the aggregate of which was used to arrive at the result we are about to submit today.”

Criteria for selection

He also said “However, before we go into the results, ladies and gentlemen, it is necessary to first enumerate the identified criteria we used in arriving at the choice of presidential candidate for this coalition. In other words, we graded the candidates of all the parties using these criteria;

“The national acceptability of candidate and party, strength of the structure of candidate and party across the country, competitiveness of the candidate’s party vis a vis our major challenger – the APC.

Meahwhile, The PDP Presidential candidate has stated that 40 Percent of My Appointments Would Go To Youths.

“Financial strength of candidate and party, access to financial resources, capacity and readiness to prosecute the election across the about 120,000 polling units in the country.

“Competence, capability, and credibility of the candidate, acceptability of candidate locally and internationally, candidate’s experience in administration, management of economy and politics.

“Ladies and gentlemen, after a painstaking assessment of what we have across the coalition parties and after processing the candidates’ suitability using these criteria, the steering committee hereby submits that a former Vice President and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is the best and his party the most virile of all the options before us. We therefore chose ‘him as the CUPP candidate for the 2019 Presidential election."

APC’s next evil

Oyinlola also called on members on members of the CUPP to hit the ground running, adding that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced.

“We have come a long way in this journey. The campaigns have started. The gloves are off and we must hit the ground running. Our main challengers are already in war mood, they have launched what they called THE NEXT LEVEL.

“We must prove to them that we are the masters in this enterprise and tell them that the Nigerian people would not follow them (the APC) to THE NEXT EVIL scheme they have designed for our country. Millions of our suffering compatriots are looking up to us for deliverance and we must. not disappoint them.

“I thank you all for the confidence reposed in us. I thank the steering committee members for the great sacrifice they made in meeting every Wednesday since the inauguration weeks ago. It is all in the service of our country. My prayer is that Almighty God will crown our efforts with success. We shall be victorious; we shall not be put to shame. “

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly been sued in a law suit filed against it by a disgruntled member.

According to the Daily Trust News, the member Abubakar Sidiq Usman is contesting the appointment of a rival Lanre Isa-Onilu as the National Publicity Secretary of the party.

Isa-Onilu reportedly occupies this position following the exit of Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi to the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

By the end of the APC's National Convention held in Abuja last June, Abdullahi muscles off Abubakar Usman, Duro Meseko and Lanre Isa-Onilu respectively taking second, third and fourth positions.

Now that the last National Publicity Secretary has switched to enemy camp, Usman thinks he should be the new one. He considers the appointment of Isa-Onilu who came last as an action worthy of contest.

Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege an All Progressives Congress lawmaker (Delta Central) on Friday night gave reasons why the electoral bill has not been signed by PMB. He stated this on a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege said  the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance forbids  President Muhammadu Buhari from  signing the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker gave this insight   in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday night.

Article 2 of the protocol forbids member countries from making “substantial modification” to their electoral laws less than six months to elections “except with the consent of a majority of political actors”.

Omo-Agege, who is a staunch supporter of the President, noted that with the elections less than three months away, signing the bill would violate the ECOWAS instrument.

NAN reports that the presidential and National Assembly elections are slated for Feb. 16, 2019, while those of governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on March 2.

Omo-Agege said, “I have yet to see the president’s letter to the Senate, but this bill means so much to Mr President. On a good day he would want to sign it.

“However, without even seeing the reasons he has advanced so far, I am aware of the challenges posed by the ECOWAS protocol.

“I don’t know if that is part of the reasons he has advanced, but with the bill coming two months or thereabout before the election, assenting to it will breach the protocol.”

NAN reports that Buhari did not mention the ECOWAS instrument as part of his reasons for declining assent to the bill for the fourth time.

The president’s latest decision came in a letter dated Dec. 6, 2018 and addressed to both chambers of the National Assembly.

Tony Elumelu Foundation /IFRA Nigeria/AFD Scholarship Programme 2018/19 | The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Institute for Research in Africa, Nigeria (IFRA Nigeria), have signed a partnership agreement on the programme “Supporting Entrepreneurship in Africa”.

Beginning in 2015, the Supporting Entrepreneurship in Africa programme is a philanthropic initiative which goal is to identify and empower young African entrepreneurs.

As part of the agreement, one Nigerian master student in Economics or Political Sciences of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) or the University of Ibadan (UI) will be selected to conduct field research in Nigeria and Kenya, starting in January 2019. The research will aim at studying the impact of the “Supporting Entrepreneurship in Africa” programme in the targeted countries.

The successful applicant will be co-supervised by the IFRA team and the TEF foundation. He/She will be endowed with a monthly stipend of 500 Euros over a period of one year to fund his/her research. Additionally, transport and research fees in the other targeted country will be covered. The student will have access to the TEF foundation data and logistical support in Nigeria and Kenya. He/She will produce a master thesis presenting the key research findings as well as a technical report to be submitted to both TEF and IFRA.

The successful applicant will team up with a French student starting fieldwork in January 2019 in other African countries. Both students will compare their collected data and exchange ideas.

Details

Applications are invited for Overseas MSc Scholarships to institutions under its UK, Germany and France strategic partnership initiative. Successful candidates will be awarded scholarships to study in these countries commencing in the 2019/2020 academic session.

The Scheme

Under this scheme, candidates are invited to apply through PTDF to specific programmes at the partner institutions in any of the countries (full list of sponsored courses is available below).

The award includes the provision of flight tickets, payment of health insurance, payment of tuition and bench fees (where applicable) as well as the provision of allowances to meet the costs of accommodation and living expenses.

The programmes will also include language classes to aid scholars settle into their new environments.

Selection Process, Criteria & Requirements

PTDF scholarships are highly competitive and only candidates who are outstanding across the board are selected. A selection committee will be constituted to assess applications using the following criteria:

A former Nigerian lecturer caught on tape allegedly demanding sex from a female student is facing criminal charges.

Accounting professor Richard Akindele has been charged with four counts of corruption, including demanding sexual benefits, sexual coercion of a student, misrepresentation of information and evidence tampering, according to court papers seen by CNN.

Akindele appeared Monday morning at the Federal High court, Osogbo, southwest Nigeria and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He was denied bail and will remain in custody pending further investigation, the court said.

His next hearing is November 27th.

The case against Akindele was brought by Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

They started their investigations after Akindele was sacked for sexual misconduct in June by the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).

The All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Adams Oshiomhole, has accused former president Olusegun Obasanjo of plotting to rule Nigeria by proxy.

Oshiomhole made this statement in Kano while welcoming hundreds of members of the PDP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, who defected into the ruling party at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The APC national chairman, who made the statement while reacting to Obasanjo's claim that PDP will defeat Nigeria in 2019, urged Nigerians to not hand the nation to opportunist during the election.
