Every election year
They promise to lead with God's fear
But once they are in office
They forget that promise

The once friend of the people
Sworn into office with the Quran or the Bible
Makes the people cry
With policies that make them dry

Policies coated with national interest
But formed by selfish men at the crest
Without consultation with the populace
People at the receiving end of the policies

Yet after four years of disappointment
They come back begging for our endorsement

And because we are fast at forgetting the past
They give us items that won't last
And we surrender without measure
Our future and pleasure

Some even fight their brothers
For the candidate who never bothers
But enjoy chilled beers
And 'isi-ewu' at bars
With other aspirants
And political opponents
Every Friday night
When they are out of sight
As our wounded receives treatment at the hospital
And the dead prepared for burial

O God, help my people maintain their stand
Whenever they come around

Same way it treats the man who dwells in poverty

The way it deals with the sick
Same way it deals with a healthy folk

The way it operates on the man
Same way it operates on the woman

With hunger there is no leader
No follower

With hunger all men are equal
And special

I had seen different types of foods in my country
But the outstanding remains garri

Nigeria's fastest
With the highest
Accessibility
And versatility

For you may enjoy it with cold water
And some cubes of sugar

Groundnut
Or coconut

Fish well fried
Or meat properly cooked

You may also transform it with hot water
And enjoy it with fried pepper

Egusi soup
Or any other good soup

Better still you may enjoy it raw
In this there is no flaw

When I was a younger
I longed to grow older
Quicker than normal
Faster than usual

I longed to change from being an ordinary master
To a full mister

To father lives
That will give birth to husbands and wives

Now that I'm there
The burden I can't bear

Can't be somewhere
When I wish to be there

Lacks the ability
To undertake simple activity
The capability
For usual availabily

If only I can turn back the hand of time
My troubles will I calm

If only I can switch from being old
And return to those days when I was a child

Lord grant me the knowledge
That I may know that your favouring me is merely a privilege

That neither do I deserve it
Nor is it my rightful benefit

Help me to always keep in mind
That I'm neither the best in the land

Or they show our nation's present state?

Who gained the old world but lost his soul

Everyone has a debt to pay
Everyone has a last day

If loving you is a crime
I'll become boko haram
Nigeria's toughest at present
Taking away sleep from the president

'Soon they shall be stopped' she retorted

As Nigerians are for blackberry

Sweet
Will their praises be on every street

For we forget our four years of wailing
Crying
Complaining
And yelling

With which we now sing their praises

In our states

To move from grass
To grace
From zero
To Hero
Or to climb success ladder
Is easier
Than to maintain a position on the ladder

Little wonder it took Nigeria forty-six years persistence
From amalgamation to indepence

A success story
Of the century

But fifty-two years after
The story had gone sour

The most populous black nation
Expert in corruption
Bribery
Reformed slavery
Fraud
Blood shed
Unemployment
And unholy treatment
Of its' citizens by their leaders
And elected officers

Fifty-two years after freedom
What is the state of our kingdom?

And famous
To be a household name

He is a record breaker
A great achiever
Loved by all and sundry
Known all over his country
For his hospitality

But her dream had seen its' end
His radiance shortened
She had given up the ghost
And he is verge of being lost
