DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Applicants must be able to:

Respond to employees’ safety concerns;

Conduct, as necessary, the safety inspection of any Board facility;

Review and analyse injury and incident reports and data

Develop injury and incident prevention strategies for their area

Investigate and report on complaints of hazardous working conditions to the Associate Director

and/or other appropriate senior staff;

Assist the Board’s Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees;

Respond to fires and other emergencies on or about the Board property;

Coordinate registration and removal of hazardous waste;

Receive reports from and respond to orders issued by Department of Labor inspectors;

Arrange for Occupational Health and Safety testing and/or evaluations of the workplace by

external agencies/consultants as may be necessary

Developing and implementing safety policies helps employers reduce accident-related costs and prevent losses due to a decline in productivity
