OAU and UI Undergraduate Transcript Processing: The Ways Out of the Unnecessary Delays
We shouldn’t even try to compare the efficiency of OAU and UI when it comes to delivering transcripts, because—although OAU has tried to be better since the introduction of TPS—but the two schools definitely are still not able to keep up with the world of 2023 and take good advantage of the digital revolution as pertaining to transcript production and delivery. Only the means of collecting money for transcript request is digitalized, the process of transcript production itself is only about 5% digitalized, everything else is still very manual, as though it’s 1960’s; most results are still on papers, the transcript units still largely depend on getting results from the departments with a lot of bureaucracy involved, most transcripts are still typed one by one instead of downloading them from a reliable and secure database, most staff are still very reluctant about their duties, so there is no way transcript production would not be delayed unnecessarily. Different schools in Nigeria have different modalities for their transcripts sending businesses. While some schools like OAU, UI and the likes don’t mind sending the owner of the transcript a copy of their transcript as Student Copy (a.k.a Unofficial Copy), there are other schools that would insist they don’t produce Student Copies of transcripts at all; NOUN seems to be part of the latter because of their funny modalities for sending transcripts. UI and OAU Proof of English Proficiency (Certificate of Medium of Instruction) Processed in Three Days
Here is the funny thing about needing a Proof of English Proficiency (POEP) also known as Certificate of Medium of Instruction (CMOI), you often find yourself needing it in a matter of days; it’s only on rare cases you have the opportunity to wait before really needing it. The reasons for this is because when a travel aspirant—especially the first timers who don’t know much about getting the needed documents ready—hears about applying for admission as international student and they want to jump on it, this is when they learn they need a POEP/CMOI, then they start running around to see who can help them process it and get it delivered in a matter of days so they can meet up with the deadline on admission they are applying for. But unfortunately, when it comes to OAU and UI, as much as I know, processing these documents without manipulating the system somehow can take several weeks if not months to get delivered. The Danger of Having a High Aggregate Score in OAU’s Post-UTME and not Getting Admitted
Like many other highly competitive schools in Nigeria, OAU’s model for admissions changes every now and then to level up with events, so it’s okay to say OAU does not have a fixed system for determining who gets admitted and who doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, the Post-UTME system of screening out thousands of applicants is a constant thing and it has proven itself effective over the years, so this is not what I’m talking about when I say OAU does not have a fixed system for determining who gets admitted and who doesn’t; what I mean is that after the Post-UTME has screened out thousands of applicants who couldn’t score the required average mark in the Post-UTME aggregate score to make them earn the “Eligible for Admission” comment, there are still thousands of candidates remaining who would still have to struggle to earn one admission from the mere 10,000 to 15,000 admission spots available in the school every admission session. The Danger of Having a High Aggregate Score in OAU’s Post-UTME and not Getting Admitted
Like many other highly competitive schools in Nigeria, OAU’s model for admissions changes every now and then to level up with events, so it’s okay to say OAU does not have a fixed system for determining who gets admitted and who doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, the Post-UTME system of screening out thousands of applicants is a constant thing and it has proven itself effective over the years, so this is not what I’m talking about when I say OAU does not have a fixed system for determining who gets admitted and who doesn’t; what I mean is that after the Post-UTME has screened out thousands of applicants who couldn’t score the required average mark in the Post-UTME aggregate score to make them earn the “Eligible for Admission” comment, there are still thousands of candidates remaining who would still have to struggle to earn one admission from the mere 10,000 to 15,000 admission spots available in the school every admission session.
